Thousand Sons coupled with Flamers were busted, even thought to be S tier by most top players/teams. Tsons unfortunately got the hammer along with the Flamers for some reason. AOC and Flamers needed to be nerfed, BUT Thousand sons also lost out of the nerf to Psychic Interrogation and losing Wrath of Magnus completely. This is what REALLY hurt us. Sucks but I have some optimism to see what we can make work after getting knocked to low tier.
The secondaries are probably the biggest hit to them, but I'd expect them to have at least one list that can do well. Maybe they'll drop the points on Mauler Fiends and we'll see a resurgence of those which would be cool
@@Techpriest really helpful. I am new and just got the the thousand sons codex. I have a bunch of models I am building and painting. Glad to hear it's not changing too much or end of the world. Thanks again.
@@BozzLightyr No problem. GW has been rather good about not completely destroying armies, though they've had that happen to a few, but luckily the smaller sized armies like DG and Thousand Sons tend to not change too much. One thing I think is also missed often is that there are very competitive large scale tournaments that get most of the focus, but the majority of smaller local tournaments are much more laid back. So the variance in army strength isn't as vital in those.
Could be. Checking the stats they weren't far from 50% before and had a couple Plague Companies skewing their results in either direction (Harbingers at 37% and Wretched at 59% for example, but the sample size of Harbingers was much larger). The thing that makes me optimistic are the vehicles and and the benefits they gain from Armor of Contempt being gone, though I may be completely wrong and misplacing my optimism.
@@Techpriest I mean, I do have 3 myphitic blight haulers from that plaguefester warband box. Maybe that will compensate for the loss of contempt.... but DG mobility is just so... SO bad.... and if you have such awful mobility you kind of need to be able to tank shots while you shamble up the board, which contempt REALLY helped with.
@@CataclysmDM The mobility is definitely a big issue, that's why I think we'll see more of a vehicle focused list leaning into the Haulers and Drones as both are reasonably quick and saw points reductions while having ap 2 weapons that are better with AoC gone. The Teleport Strike on the Terminators is also nice and they now get free war gear. Though even with all of that I do view this as my risky contrarian pick, because it can easily not pan out the way I hope it will.
@@Techpriest I suppose... the problem is, my DG army is largely infantry focused and I have a lot of plague marines... which did go down in points a little, sure. Eh, we'll see how it pans out but I'm feeling a bit defeated right now. I feel like DG should have an army specific infantry rule sort of like armor of contempt, but only against shooting attacks.
I know the pain all too well, and it's never fun to build up an army only to be hit by rule changes. Don't give up too much hope yet, because even if the army is in a bit of bad place it can still perform as I saw many solid Admech players manage to make solid finishes despite the faction having a 35% win rate. That would be a really good addition though, giving Death Guard armor of contempt against shooting would solve a lot of their issues without making them broken.
They definitely got hurt by the changes to secondaries and Flamers, but they still have a lot of tools to be successful. They did probably drop from A to B tier.
Just subscribed love the videos mate
Thanks, and happy to be of help.

Death Guard were already at less than 50% win rate, the armor of contempt change is gonna crap all over them.
