The librarian is a fringe model? Its one of the most used HQs in a grey knights army. You can build a grandmaster, brother captain, apothecary or brotherhood/paladin ancient out of the terminators. The combat patrol might not have the best savings money wise compared to other ones but it has one of the best points value to price out of all the combat patrols and everything included is usable in the game. You can get 860 points easy.

It was a brain fart on my end and I address it in the second video, but at the time I double checked the box content and read "Librarian in Terminator Armor" which in my head clicked as "everyone runs the basic Librarian, not the terminator one".

My recommendation is get Voldus or Crowe. Don't get draigo. The finecast model is not good

@@arkestra9858 He's so good they had to make his model a pain to build and paint just to compensate for his power level.

I just got the Combat Patrol and Voldus last week. Played my first game tonight. It was only a quick 25 power game. Looking forward to learning how to play, its pretty confusing getting started.

Hope I can inspire some new ideas. It's a complicated game so don't be afraid to ask any questions you may have as even the pros and myself get things wrong all the time because there's so much stuff.

@Techpriest_ Thanks! I am curious to know: the ancient and apothecary are both separate units and do not have to stack with other units during movement/charges, etc...?

@@ixilone9 Unless I'm missing something, they should be their own units in terms of rules but you're encouraged to have them next to corresponding units due to their buff abilities.
Usually if they have units that must be in a certain range of each other or count as one unit, you'll see something like with the Necrons where you can take a Heavy Lokhust Destroyer in a squad of regular Lokhust Destroyers but you also have the option to take it stand alone.
Or in the case of a Canoptek Plasamcyte it has the following rules:
Recall Protocol: In the Unit Coherency Checks step of the Morale phase, if this model is not within 6" of any friendly DESTROYER CULT units, this model is destroyed.

Are you an actual grey knights player? Some of the things you said in the video made me a bit skeptical?

As much as I'd like to play every army I cover, I unfortunately can't. Though I do try to do my best to properly research those that I cover and welcome feedback on anything I may have gotten wrong or could have explained more accurately.

@Techpriest that's very fair. The two things that caught my attention was the librarian being a fringe hq. It's a super commonly used hq. Most of the people I know and the forums I'm on recomend running a mortal wound librarian as it does a ton of work in the psychic phase and is fairly beefy in combat. Secondly mentioning "why would you not run units of ten" it's common for mist GK players to use 5 man units due to the fact we are an elite army and spend so much of our points on our dreadknights and hq's that 5 man units allow us to cover more of the battlefield and more of the objectives because we are fairly limited in the amount of units we can bring, additionally with the unit using a psychic power, having pretty good shooting with storm bolters then charging into melee(where we excel) a five man unit puts out a ton of damage with our force weapons.

@@burkschris1 I agree on both points, and in the lists I looked at for research the librarian wasn't particularly uncommon. The fault is on me on this one as I brain farted during recording and for some reason decided the "Brotherhood Librarian" and "Librarian in Terminator Armor" as two different units like Sorcerers for Chaos. Completely my error, and I'll throw a correction at the start of the next GK video.
As for the second point, I also agree, and when talking about wanting a box of 5 vs. 10 it was intended from a buying perspective as you're running so many units that build out of the squad box that buying 5 vs. 10 doesn't really matter because there's use for them. Whereas the second Librarian isn't as good as the first which makes the value of getting 2 Combat Patrols less relevant than it would for other armies.

Just started a grey knights army so far I have
    1x kaldor draigo
    1x apothecary + sword
    1x ancient with sword
    X2 terms with swords + 1 psycannon
    X1 justiciar with warding stave
X5 terms with halberds + one daemon hammer + psycannon
Next going to get another 20 terms x 5 with halberds x 10 with falsions x5 with daemon hammers.
For every 10 man unit of terms can I have two psycannons
After the terms plan to get x20 interceptors 10x purifiers and x10 strike marines
Rest of characters and x3 dread knights plus a Spartan proxy as land raider any constructive criticism please

That's a lot of stuff, and seems like you have pretty much most of what you can include in a list. I haven't seen that many Termies played, usually it's about 5-10 Paladins and not much more, but there's always room for innovation.
