@@Techpriest I don't think we've hit top tier. Marines under Iron Hands got rocketed up to problematic tier, guard are stupid good, and there's a lot of other factions that have the mobility or durability that Admech lacks (though we can do either to an extent). Eldar have fire and fade for days now and can keep out of sight, Chaos Knights do well into a horde meta, Custodes are superbuff. We should at least be back in mid-tier and competitive in tournaments again though.
@@ElvishShellfish Could be the case, but I think with the added versatility of a lot more units being playable now gives Admech room to discover a build that lets them advance beyond mid tier. Dragoons at 55 points just seem very strong.

Had a whole skitarii army planned out for some 1k games and was going to challenge myself to speed paint them. Now I’ve got like two more squads to buy/paint on top of that cause of the points tweaking lol 😅 Really can’t complain though, glad to see the internal balance of the Codex improved substantially, and always happy to see my favorite servants of the Machine God get some much-needed love
I know the pain. Every time I feel like I'm getting close to a complete army it feels like I need another dozen or so models. They'll probably reset it for 10th Edition like that did going into 9th, but the balance right now is overall solid even if some armies get bonked a bit too much, such as Tyranids in this update.
@@Techpriest and glad to see (with a few notable exceptions) that most units in the army are in a good enough place you don’t feel like you’ve put yourself at too much of a disadvantage by taking your favorites over the “meta pick”
For sure, and that's the biggest thing I tend to harp on. I'm ok with having an ok army with a lot of choice over a meta defining army with only one possible build.
The one thing that bothers me is why didn't they say, replace all instances of bionic saves with enhanced bionics? Also for the maniplus change, I think it's so the dominus and maniplus are the same price considering they are both Mega priest type characters.
Might just be an oversight, or they want to keep them distinct if they give us some way to modify the Enhanced Bionics to be better by means of a stratagem or something. Good catch on the points though, for some reason it didn't register that the Dominus was so cheap now and I still remember him at 90 points.
@@Djnightmare14 all instances of bionic have been increased by 1. No other unit in my knowledge has the 6++ anymore. Meaning we now have 2 special rules that do the same thing...
During your explanation of the electro priest you noted they wouldn’t be worth cp to put into strategic reserves, doesn’t ark of omen rules now make the reserves cost no command point?
You'd be correct. However, I just did a really poor job of conveying a thought, as I was thinking of Lucius Strat and Cartogrammatist when discussing it due to the ability of dropping a unit of Corpuscarii down and blasting something the turn they come in. Being used to spending points for reserves I just lumped the two together without considering the new changes fully.
Some very interesting changes indeed, I don't think that the Adeptus Mechanicus will rise to its former glory (there's just too much competition now), but we're definitely in a way better spot. Also, finally the army feels like it has some internal balance: almost every unit now is usable. A bit disappointed by the Arks of Omen changes with aircrafts though, as I quite like stratoraptors.
Very much agree, but upon release I wouldn't call Admech top tier, I'd call them broken. For me top tier is when an army can compete very reasonably with multiple build options and has the flexibility to adapt to most metas if the player has the models.
@@billysipe5040 True. They just need to make the boxes of Sicarians come in 10 instead of 5 and sell 3 Ironstriders for the price of 2, but that won't happen any time soon sadly.
We are back baby!
I'm tempted to say Admech is top tier now, but the dollar cost will keep them in line as building that many Dragoons is rough.

D3 shots for a neutron laser hurts everytime I roll that dice
D3 is just High Gothic for one.

Yeah, try d6 for a Doomsday Ark. Might as well be d2...
