    The K'T'Inga is the ultimate expression of the Klingon warship. They took the look of the original D7 and made it sleek, beautiful and deadly looking as hell. The starship equivalent of sharks. Love this ship. Thank you!

    This is the first Star Trek ship I ever saw when TMP aired in 1983 on ABC. It’s such a beautiful ship even though it gets upstaged by the Enterprise several scenes later. I was glad it made a prominent return in TUC as Q’onos One.

    I do have to wonder when Decker completed the connection to Voyager 6 and ascended with Ilia if any of the accumulated knowledge, including the design specs for those 3 K'Tinga class Battle Cruisers, was transmitted to Earth, or did it just disappear into the Ether...?

    One thing, of many things, that I love about your ship class videos is, you do them in a way thats so original... like, they aren't your typical class covers that one finds all over TH-cam that barely has any variation from the last. Truly, you are the master of beta cannon and trek producers today would be lucky to have you writing for them

    You know if I was one of these Klingon engineers threatened by the High Council to upgrade the D-7 class or die, I’d comply (for the glory of the Empire if nothing else, certainly not for the glory of those bureaucratic, honourless petaQ), but I’d _also_ ensure that the standardised design for the baffle plates had, engraved, in a very difficult to remove way, text stating “the High Council members go to bed with their targs”. I’ve got a spark of pettiness inside me, and while as a member of human society I try to suppress that, as a Klingon it would have such a chance to shine that they would write _glorious operas_ about my passive-aggression.

      I doubt the engineers would be executed for failed tests, just so long as the vessel they end up presenting to the high council works. An incentive to test everything properly before you put it into service. If any Klingon engineer turned in a ship in the condition the Enterprise A launched in for example, they're going to have a most unglorious death in the near future!

    I liked the references to the models of weapons. I, too, had the FASA Star Trek RPG and used the Starship Construction Manual extensively. I was even able to break down the maths used in determining how to construct components. Good job. The k't'inga is a personal favourite. The older D-4 Predator is even sexier.

    Talk about being born under a bad sign. The first chance the K'tinga gets to shine and it's against V'ger.
    I think vids like this about the lesser used or one off races would be fun. The Gorn and Tholian are 2 that come to mind. TOS had a lot of lore potential started but couldn't expand and following series didn't use.
    Also looking at the other "god" races besides the Q and how they could of all interacted or what they were like before becoming all powerful.

    Great video. Could have used a "recording" of Captain Sulu's opinion. 😉 Please keep 'em coming.
    I'd be interested in a breakdown of the Bird-of-prey variants. Seems like some were relatively small like in ST IV and some seemed huge (via space shots of the BoP vs Fed starships) though I'm sure real world explanations are that it was just a mistake by special effects crews.

    A short reply I know, but I look forward to the Vorcha class - that is one of my favourites and then the Negh'Var.
    I know alot of Klingon fans like the K'Tinga class and indeed it has a good history, the design or one similar that both the Klingons and Romulan empires had at one point in history, if I am correct, with their exchanging of technologies.

    While it's only really a headcanon, and I'm sure by now the producers have made sure there's plenty of things that *technically* disprove it, I personally like to think that the K'T'Inga and the D7 class could be one and the same. D-7 is such a human designation for an encountered alien design, it doesn't sound very Klingon at all. I think it makes more sense to assume that what the Federation referred to as the "D7 class battlecruiser" was what the Klingons called the K'T'Inga. With that in mind, it's not necessarily the case that the D7 'evolved' into the separate class called the K'T'Inga, but rather that *to the Klingons* it was the K'T'Inga all along, which was merely upgraded. Kind of like how the Constitution class was "upgraded" between TOS and the movies.

  • @Leathurkatt
    @Leathurkatt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You also forgot about the Klingon D6 Battle Cruiser, the predecessor of the larger and more powerful D7 Battle Cruiser. The D6 was used up until the introduction of the D7 after the battle of Axanar where Garth of Isar led the defeat of the Klingons and began the Federation's reclaiming of territory lost to Klingon expansion during the Klingon-Federation war. The development and construction of the D7 had been delayed thus was not ready for the Axanar conflict, which led to their defeat.

    • @TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics
      @TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didnt forget about it, I simply didnt include it as I dont buy the back story... And this video was about the K'T'inga, not the D7, which would have been a direct descendant of the D6... It would be like doing biography on Gene Roddenberry, and instead of just mention the relevant Parent Information, going back and discussing all his ancestors... That's simply not how these types of videos work... The relevant information is all there!

    • @Leathurkatt
      @Leathurkatt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics Is all good. I figured that since you covered the D7 in one video and the K'T'inga in another, then maybe you might do one on the D6 at some point? Is a thought at least. The Klingons have so few ship types/classes in their fleet, I figure that at least cover as many as there was info on. My personal favorite is the Bird of Prey design, with it's three size classes (Scout, Greater Bird, and Frigate) along side the small predecessor seen in Enterprise (the one I like to call the Falcon class because of its size and maneuverability, would love to see a bit more comprehensive info on that one). It was also great to see the videos on the Vor'cha and Negh'Var as well.
      Klingons have always been my favorite Star Trek race (with Vulcans as a close second), in fact I have a fan character I created back in 1995 (T'Kara) that I run around at conventions dressed up as, and later created a second one about 5-6 years ago (V'Tira) whose mother was a Klingon Tactical officer and her father was a Vulcan Engineer (long story how THAT happened, LOL). Part of the backstory for both characters is he fact that their mothers are actually full blood sisters, so they are actually related to each other, but they are very different characters individually. ;)

    • @TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics
      @TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Id have absolutely no problem doing a video on ANY ship, including the D6... The big problem is that there arent 3d models available for it (or them) in the programs I use... At least not yet, so Im a slave to 3d Modlers :P

    • @Leathurkatt
      @Leathurkatt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics I totally get that difficulty. Hmmm, maybe you can poke Alec from Aries Studios (same people who did Prelude to Axanar) and ask him if they would let you use some of their models/footage of the D6 (since it did feature in some of their stuff)? Just an idea and TOTALLY your choice. He's a pretty cool guy, I've actually talked to him about things a few times. Huge Trek nerd and knows a lot about that time period in particular (Garth of Izar is a favorite of his).

    • @TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics
      @TriAngulumStudiosAudioComics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry but that will never happen... This channel will not be associating with ANYTHING to do with Axanar, given the drama and toxicity that surrounded Peters, and that little bit of fan fiction... Your more then welcome to support him, but given how divided fandom is about him, I wont bring that type of negativity in to this channel... Besides his models would never work in the programs I use, and from what I understand, he doesnt even own them anyhow...

  • @gordondavis6168
    @gordondavis6168 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Klingons were a slave race to aliens; the Klingons were used as soldiers. The Klingons revolted against their masters and took over their technology. Since the Klingons did not invent their tech from the ground up, they didn’t totally understand it. Thus, the Klingons were locked into using the ship designs of their past masters for a long time. Thus, the D6/D7 class was used for a long time. Finally, the Klingons truly started to build their own ship designs.
