    I'm a long time rider with lots of riding experience (club racing, woods racing...) I mention this If you are an experienced rider and want to know if this bike will keep you entertained like a Tuono or Ducati Streetfighter, then wonder no more. This bike is a bargain at $10k. It punches well above the price point and entertains me like my old 2015 Tuono v4 for a fraction of the price (and with a lot less worry about maintenance or service) . The XSR motor has a rawness to it that delivers a character not typically found on the big 4 Japanese motorcycles these days. Yes the MT10 gets a double helping of character but this 900 motor is smooth yet characterful. My 60 year old worn out body loves riding this thing. Yes it's not a touring bike, nor an ADV bike or any other narrow genre. It's today's UJM (Can I still say that?) This bike flat out rocks for those rides where you want a full motorcycle experience in a short time. Use it to get a coffee and slice of pie an hour or so away. Hard seat? YUP! Small tank? Yup! Feel like a budget bike like some other "retro wannabees"? NOT ONE BIT! Not mentioned is how tiny the bike feels when you are riding it. Narrow between the knees in the sculpted tank cutouts. The bike looks bigger than it rides. Also tip in is very light without feeling nervous. This is one of those bikes you simply wear off the chicken strips on the first ride. Confidence it delivers at street speeds. Suspension is firm. Not the typical pogo of and undersprung underdamped suspension. This isn't race track stiff. It is compliant for street riding. The brakes on mine sucked for the first few miles. They had something on the rotors or just needed to be bedded in. Once I put a few hundred miles on the bike they felt a lot better. If you get one make sure you are aware of this before you need them for an emergency. This bike is fast and will easily wheelie in 3rd gear. It delivers fierce 1/8 mile acceleration. I believe the higher horsepower bikes separate themselves once the speeds are higher up in the 100-140 mph zone. It's a sport naked in the Goldilocks zone. If you have the means, love the look, but can't get a test ride and wonder if all these gushing reviews are for real. They are 100% legit. It delivers the goods even to someone completely spoiled.

      Great review/comment. The bike puts a smile on my face every time I ride mine, even for short trips. The seat softens up after the first 1k km, though still firm.
      But perhaps the best thing is that it feels like a BMX to ride! Feels light and easy, behaves exactly as you want it to. Have yet to have a, "whooooaa sh!!!t", experience with it, even in some tricky situations. And when you throw in Yamaha reliability, this machine is definitely going to be a long term keeper for me.

      I love mine to death as well. My one complaint would be the front brake. At about 3000 miles in, mine still feels a bit wooden and spongy, particularly when the brakes are cold. I'm going to be trying some more aggressive pads and installing braided lines, hopefully that fixes it. Otherwise a damn near perfect machine.

    I tested the Speed triple RS1200 yes it had more bhp but was it worth over £5k more, not in my book this new XSR for£10k is a dream, its the colour i loved, the metal tank unlike the new Monster my son has. Its also got loads of tech, cruise control,QS and slipper clutch. Such good value and handles lovely, CP3 engine is super smooth and sounds a peach and i am thrilled with it, gearbox is silky too,Its a high quality machine in my opinion much better than the New Monster we have which is a totally different feel, The XSR will make you happy you saved your money on other bikes way more expensive. She is a keeper long term, and sits along side my Harley Streetbob well, different bikes but both tick all the boxes very very well. If you are thinking of getting this XSR go for it, all the niggles people say about i.e the seat, i got a gel pad, steering locks a bit non existent but its no big deal, that settings wheel works fine for me and i think i'm going to see if its possible just to swap the mirrors to the other sides and underneath think it should work, i will find out Friday as its due the 600 mile service. Well guys happy Motorcycling.

    At the recent Bike Show in the UK I, more or less, apart from the new Hornet, rejected other bikes as my next purchase and went from the MT09 SP to the newish XSR. Both are great. I'd get the XSR though because I prefer not to have my head so close to the front wheel, just looking into space. It felt much more comfortable than the 09. Apart, that is, from the weird seat. I asked my local dealer if Yam have a comfort version. The answer was, no. More precisely, not yet.

    • @hiddendragon415
      @hiddendragon415 ปีที่แล้ว

      The XSR has a harder seat than the 09 and on the 09 your butt gets sore after a hour. For distance on either bike a comfort cushion can help.

    Having owned a 2022 MT-09 for 6 months, I couldn’t agree more about the switchgear or specifically the menu wheel.
    The margin of error between you succesfully selecting something by pushing the menu wheel and you accidently scrolling up or down instead, is ridicously small.
    And the menu wheel is so physically small that you gloved thumb covers it entirely.

I wonder if the fix for the rear end on the track is as simple as a Penkse or Ohlins shock like it was on my 17 FZ09. I'd still have that bike if it had CC, QS, and an IMU -- Ultimately I want something that turns almost telepathically and I'd hate to but this bike only to find out its not as rail-able as the 890r - Thanks again!

    • @DaJoJomason
      @DaJoJomason ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The sp might be slightly better, but it's not an absolute upgrade over the xsr900. The bikes have some differences that the other does not, so one is not clearly better than the other. The xsr900 has a longer swing arm, which makes it more stable and planted, but at the cost of being less nimble and wheelie happy as the mt09. The xsr900 also has a slightly more aggressive rising position which you may or may not like. The xsr900 also has an inch shorter seat height, a worse seat (comfort wise), a Brembo master cylinder to help brake feel, and an updated fuel gauge. I looked at a 2023 mt09 sp in person, and it was still using the dash with the 1 big fuel bar for your upper fuel gauge (50%-100% fuel), while the 2022 xsr900 has a 75% fuel bar break, making its fuel gauge go from 100% to 75% to 50%, unlike the mt09's which goes from 100% to 50% fuel in one go. The xsr900 has better suspension than a base mt09, but obviously not as good as the mt09 sp's. For me, there was also a decent price difference between the bikes, I was quoted about $2600 more otd for a 2023 mt09 sp over a 2022 xsr900. Also, for me, the sp was 50% more to insure. I ultimately chose the xsr900 because it was way better value, the mt09 sp may have been a little bit better for me, because it has a better seat and I was wanting to put a big windscreen and bags on it for commuting, but I was looking at about $3100 more (otd price + insurance) right off the bat to get the mt09 sp instead of the xsr900, and I do not believe its $3100 better. Either of these bikes are great, you can't really go wrong with either, you just have to decide which of their differences you value more.
