Proves that a great looking bike and reliable one can be sold at a reasonable price unlike Ducati who think they can charge what ever for just a paint job, best looking bike out there at the moment.
Had mine 3 weeks now and only drawback is riding position on long rides if you get stuck in town traffic. On the open road it’s amazing and those looks make it a magnet for crowds of admirers wherever you go
Saw one last weekend, looks even more impressive in the flesh. You can get that brilliant CP3 engine in so many formats now to suit your taste. And this will be only improved next year with the R9.
i actively avoid mainstream bike groups, generic canned content thats basically the equivalent of sawdust filler so as to not step outside the bounds of their sponsors. E.G. This is a motorcycle. It has two wheels. I like the paint. Now a word from our sponsors.
I rode the 24 MT-09 the XSR900 and the GP all back to back. The 09 was my favourite the GP is actually less aggressive still comfortable 😂 and the 900 is right in the middle.
yeah this bike is amazing, I hope we eventually get it in the US because it's stunning. I don't know how practical it is with the clip ons and tiny headlight, but I'd love to put this kit on my standard XSR900
This is one of my best bikes i ever had, makes me always smile when i open my garage, there is realy nothing i dont like on this bike, oh ok, maybe one thing, where ever i am, i always be interviewed by other people asking mi about this bike, can be sometimes annoying 😄
An SP version with Brembo stylema calipers, with better Brembo brake like a RCS19, ohlins/kayaba suspension from the MT09SP.....oh and an exhaust slip-on that keeps the current profile (i.e. decat version).......perfect..... Quite sure Y's Gear Japan will come up with a 1980's Suzuka 8hr livery, the Tech-21 Shisheido or a full-on OW-01 lookalike bodywork.
Due to budget, I'd have to restrain myself away from the GP version. I'd prefer the XSR900 over the MT, but the MT gets much improved switchgear and TFT and intelligent QS, and a few other things. The XSR900 still runs essentially the 21-23 model MT-09 equipment. I'd have to watch for the update coming.
I think they've done a great job here. Fantastic looks, ample sports/road power and fairly minimal/unobtrusive electronics. Reasonable price, but still quite a lot for what it is eg cp to Honda/Kawi SS600s. All said, I think a great bike for fun, sporting road riding and reasonable days in the saddle with pride of ownership and low running costs. I suspect it might benefit from a brake fettle and suspension upgrade - those seem to be the weak links at this price point.
I do like this bike, a comfortable sportsbike with great looks and engaging engine. My only criticism is that it would look better with a longer tail section.....would be fantastic in the Gauloise, Yamaha France colours, they always looked stunning whizzing around Donnington !! Niall Mackenzie's ROC Yamaha would be my favourite though ,❤ that colour scheme !
Great looking bike, reminds me of what I used to ride in the late 80's. Would have one in a heartbeat if I could afford it, and also if i could fold my several times crashed and battered aging body over it. Might have to demo one......
Looks lovely. However, i sat on one in the showroom recently and could not flat-foot it. The riding position was a bit "forward" for my aging frame. Oh well.
Hi! I have a question. Between MT09 2024 & the current XSR900 (not the GP), which one has more aggressive ergonomic riding position? Or which is more relaxed? Up right position or more relaxed position is very important to know for me. Thank you.
I feel like this is the bike that is most likely to be bought purely to sit in a garage of the last few years. Then in 10 years from now, there will be a bunch available near new.
It really does look the business but would be even better with a black frame and swingarm. Also those bar-end mirrors need to go and should be replaced with a fairing mounted alternative. Otherwise I totally love it.
The only bike to get me excited in 10 years, although I'm gutted they fitted the stupid iPad dash, when analogue clocks would have been more in keeping with the retro theme
Not quite an RD500LC, and probably a good thing. Give me the bog standard xsr but with a shaft please. Kind of surprised Yamaha did away with the old XJ series.
yamaha fucking gets it with this one, motorcycling is a hobby, and not one that comes out of maturity or sensibility, so you might as well sell me a motorcycle that looks exactly like a gp bike from the 80s and lets me feel like a racer.
It looks incredible and NO ONE can deny it! But if you’re gonna spend £10K (and that’s not budget dear boy) then you may as well spend £12K and be done with it! 👍🏻
We are living in a generation of the 90s when Japanese manufacturers didnt bring some of their best cars to the US. Except now its 2020s and motorcycle. We were robbed from the new CBR600RR and this
Jealous of you Brits because there's no telling when/if it's coming to the States. I will say though; I know the color way is an homage to Marlboro but it really looks like Iron Man's motorcycle 😂
Excellent bike! I wish Yamaha puts this beefy engine in a T7 type bike with 21" front wheel. Of course that the CP3 is too powerful for a dirt bike but... who cares? 😊
$3800NZ more than the MT09 SP!! And you don't even get the Ohlins suspension nor the Brembo brakes! All for "visual specialness" and some cheap plastic panels. What a joke. Sure it looks nice but if Yamaha want to charge the premium price then they better provide the premium hardware to justify said price.
🤣🤣🤣 I love that we get the absolute garbage looking xsr900 that is 10x worse than the previous version, but we don't get this one, which is the only version that is relatively aesthetically pleasing.
Proves that a great looking bike and reliable one can be sold at a reasonable price unlike Ducati who think they can charge what ever for just a paint job, best looking bike out there at the moment.
And Ducati can and will sell all of them everytime 😂
@@gregorybigg8924with loose bolts and God awful wiring.
@@gregorybigg8924 Thanks to the tools who buy them. I guess.
If we are shopping for a Yamaha priced bikes, we are not Ducati's target audience
@@LowQualityPigeon wow you can only bring up the past , bless 🙄
Yamaha needs to bring this bike to the USA
😢 You're not kidding!
USA has enough bikes that aren’t sold in other markets
@ashwinraggs4226 sounds like a separate problem. I'm more interested in complaining about Americas problems
PLEASE BRING TO USA
I would have already put my deposit down

I just hope Yamaha runs some neat horsepower tricks with the R version. The engine has plenty of headroom and durability.
Finally! Someone who really understands what this bike is all about...which is more than can be said for MCN.
Ahh the corporate overlords.
Private journalism over corporate every time!!
Yeah MCN really missing the nail lately

Honestly, the coolest bike of 2024.
It's a beauty. I love it but my old back wouldn't. Another reason to wish I was 30 years younger.
I hear you about back pain. I'm 53 and ride a ZX6-R. I'm in constant pain, and I'm ready to buy something a bit more comfortable.
I really hope the XSR900 GP sets off a new retro racer trend from the rest of the industry. I'd love to see a Rothmans themed Honda.
Love the design on this one man...Yamaha rarely fails to amaze me with their colours and designs
this bike reminds me so much of the trx850 which was a wonderful bulletproof and ultra sporty bike of the time. It looks amazing
Yamaha is kicking some goals this year. 🎉
I'm getting one next year.
I rode the 24 MT-09 the XSR900 and the GP all back to back.
The 09 was my favourite the GP is actually less aggressive still comfortable 😂 and the 900 is right in the middle.
The want is strong with this. I'd love it in blue and yellow to remind me of my old TZR 125.
Yamaha nailed it! Gorgeous and still relatively affordable.
yeah this bike is amazing, I hope we eventually get it in the US because it's stunning. I don't know how practical it is with the clip ons and tiny headlight, but I'd love to put this kit on my standard XSR900
I want an XSR GP SP! Please Yamaha bring it the United States! Great video!
This thing is hands down the coolest bike out this year
Well done Yam it’s excellent. It’s a road racer looking retro cool without breaking your back or your bank! Good review Bob 👍
I have no doubts, for me most beautiful machine been made in this century.
That is an amazing looking bike. Wow, well done to Yamaha! Thanks for sharing these details.
This is one of my best bikes i ever had, makes me always smile when i open my garage, there is realy nothing i dont like on this bike, oh ok, maybe one thing, where ever i am, i always be interviewed by other people asking mi about this bike, can be sometimes annoying 😄

Looks like the peak late 80s early 90s sport bikes.
Yamaha's induction and exhaust tuners strike again. It does sound very good indeed (in recordings) by modern standards.
Best looking yamaha especially in that black. Only needs a tailtidy, black screen and numbers 👍
Nice! It does, however, need a ROUND headlight and higher bars. Thank you for a superb review.
SS
Two round headlights, thanks!
I think they've done a great job here. Fantastic looks, ample sports/road power and fairly minimal/unobtrusive electronics. Reasonable price, but still quite a lot for what it is eg cp to Honda/Kawi SS600s. Hey Yamaha, I would run out and buy one if these right now if you sold it in the US.
Such a beautiful machine. It was a love at first sight the very first time I saw this motorcycle in this very channel.
I do like this bike, a comfortable sportsbike with great looks and engaging engine. My only criticism is that it would look better with a longer tail section.....would be fantastic in the Gauloise, Yamaha France colours, they always looked stunning whizzing around Donnington !! Great bike!!! Would love to own one, but unfortunately it's not available in the states yet.... Hopefully next year. Great review as always .
I think these look amazing. I’d love to have one - but I don’t think they’re coming to Canada.
probably similar feel and performance to the R9 with modern fairings, hoping they properly announce it soon.
We won't get this bike but if we did I would at least give it look. My Thruxton R and Kawasaki Z900RS SE have the bar set pretty high.
When is it coming to the USA?
Great looking bike, reminds me of what I used to ride in the late 80's. Would have one in a heartbeat if I could afford it, and also if i could fold my several times crashed and battered aging body over it. Might have to demo one......
The last time I was this fascinated with a bike like this, I purchased the Thruxton R....This is a dangerous bike for my bank account...
Looks lovely. However, i sat on one in the showroom recently and could not flat-foot it. The riding position was a bit "forward" for my aging frame. Oh well.
Love this bike. Would need to get BOTH colours! 😃

Yamaha is killing it.
It reminds me of iron man's mark 3 face
She's a beauty.
Nice jacket. Only problem: absolutely no description on the site. So this is a dealbreaker. This was for free!
but checkout the Vandal sneakers - only 500 quid!
This Yamaha GP or the Kawasaki z900rs would be my top two for retro bikes.
Kawi needs to release a retro ZX-7R / ZXR-750 inspired option
an updated 650 to 700 could be that. The 650 is in desperate need of an update/refresh.
@@spartanx169xI hate what their twin cylinder bikes sound like.😊

Very sad these aren't coming to the USA
I still think Japanese manufacturers always get it right! Reliable and easier to maintain maintain.
The front end looks wrong to me. Needs to have twin round headlights
now put some modern race fairings on it and give us the R9 already😩
They did.
I'd buy one.. love it..

I’m jealous of Europe because US don’t get it. Will trade my trident 660 in a heartbeat.
That is a great looking bike!
Nice review. It really seems like an r1 for normal people😅... Long-term lovable machine!
Not quite an RD500LC, and probably a good thing. Give me the bog standard xsr but with a shaft please. Kind of surprised Yamaha did away with the old XJ series.
Ps. That green FE Thruxton is to die for! I need a TFC or FE in my life! 😞
Think I'd go for the MT-09SP or XSR900 when they finally update it with the new tech.
Because 6-axis IMU, cruise and an excellent QS aren't enough already🙄
yamaha fucking gets it with this one, motorcycling is a hobby, and not one that comes out of maturity or sensibility, so you might as well sell me a motorcycle that looks exactly like a gp bike from the 80s and lets me feel like a racer.

I love it. Bring it to the USA.
Awww.....I wish they put the mirrors on the frame instead of the bar end
only downside is that it doesn't have accomodations for a pillion, aside from that it looks amazing
We are living in a generation of the 90s when Japanese manufacturers didnt bring some of their best cars to the US. Except now its 2020s and motorcycle. We were robbed from the new CBR600RR and this
Need to have black wheels like the YZF 500 race bike
Gorgeous Bike!!!😍😍😍
Absolutely amazing looking bike! But... I think I actually prefer the MT-09 and $2,500 left in the pocket.
Looks mega, apart from those glued on front indicators. 😬
I will buy just for the looks
Sadly in my country yamaha doesnt care above 155 cc
I just bought a Tracer 9 GT, then I see this bike 😍
Absolutely love the look of this cute bike :3 woohoo ❤
What's the little white car outside the garage?
A Citroen DS3
Beautiful bike. There is only thing bothering me. The alu painted frame should have been a real alu frame.
Urr, it is.
Jealous of you Brits because there's no telling when/if it's coming to the States. I will say though; I know the color way is an homage to Marlboro but it really looks like Iron Man's motorcycle 😂

I really wanted one of these until I started seeing more of the bike up close. 🥴
I just want a new HONDA 250RR, in the fireblade styling, to match the Kawasaki RR.
Splash Bro of motorcycling! 😆
Great video Rob keep up with great work ❤❤

No clue why none of the decent Japanese bikes have seen the light of day for the past 15 years or so in India :(
Nice.

Get rid of that hideous number plate hanger
Id take this over a panigale v2

A lot like a new TRX850. But too retro and overstyled plus not a twin.
