    My closest friend passed away this week in a bike crash. We used to watch the Daily Rider together, over Discord whenever a new episode launched. This is my first episode watching alone, without him.
    I was never a big fan of Adv Bikes, but he wished to own a BMW R1250GS one day. He cannot fulfill his dream anymore, but I will keep his dream alive.
    We wish you find moksha, Subis

      You have my condolences. It probably isn't easy watching it without him for the first time.
      So are you going to buy the BMW to honor him? That'd be an expensive sentiment, but there's definitely something beautiful there. It'd be like you're going on an adventure with them whenever you ride it.

      @DennisJPolsen. I’ve an original Rd 250 air cooled. The riding position on this Xsr is very similar. In the day, most of us fitted clubman bars to make it even lower. What isn’t original is the sheer amount of power the XSR has, amazing handling and brakes that work haha.

    MSRP: $9,999. Dealer markups, these are over $12,000 now, if you can find one… my issue with that is you can buy a new Monster 950 for that money (my Ducati dealer refuses to up-charge on bikes, a reason they get my business), which handles 10x better and has the lovely Ducati V twin sound track.

  • @Paulthenutter34

    I'd prefer one in black, it's more subtle and less colour mismatch. If I had to own one, I'd possibly add foam to the riders seat and maybe even go over the trim behind the tank.
    Regarding electronics... Traction control, yes. Slide control, indifferent. Wheelie control, definately and independent of any TC settings... And race ABS with front brake only, please! I haven't ridden the XSR but ridden the '22 MT09 quite a few times. One thing the blipper could benefit from, is being enabled with a cracked throttle, similar to a Tuono. Fun bikes otherwise...

About 5 years ago I had a major stroke, a blood vessel in my head popped and I had 3 brain surgeries and spent the next 9 months in rehab and recovery. I recovered quite well, better than most. God was with me! Thank you lord. Well, I saw the Can Am at a customers shop and thought that might be my answer to getting back in the wind!!!! Yea baby!!! Have a 2023 XSR9.. I use the Giggle factor in rating motorcycles.. I haven't ridden any of the bikes you compared to, so my opinion is invalid. Besides the obvious smoothness of a triple compared to a twin, I would put the XSR9 above many you showed for 3 main functional reasons:
    1. Price W/ IMU, ABS, TC, Wheelie, and Cruise all included. Got mine for $10.3K out the door last year realizing inflation has hit hard since.
    2. Power, Light Weight, Suspension Adjustability, Frame stiffness
    3. Seamless Full Power Up/Down Quick Shifter.. That's a Giggle Multiplier.
    This bike has been fully Dyno'd by many, and a Mailorder Flash for $300 fixes most, and a -1, +2 sprocket the rest
    Obviously your ratings are different than mine.. but, I'm pretty weird.

    Id love to see more bikes in this modern retro class! What about the Z900RS cafe? Other bikes you think fit the category as well

    Only negative I can see, and it's minor, is those bar-ends. They look great but really mess up the lane splitting. I love the new version! I had the old one, it was "okay" but the new one has so much more presence, and it looks phenomenal! For ten grand, this is hard to beat. The motors on these are as close to perfect as a motor can get. Smooth power, great torque, and awesome sound. One other small negative I just remembered: The right side of the motor (think it's the clutch) sticks out really far you notice this if/when you put your right foot on the ground. Great daily rider.

    Thanks for the information. That bike is a stunner. Despite the 2022’s refinement, I’m still keeping my 2019 model, with it’s agro throttle and attitude.

    Digging the genuine Dzus fasteners on the sidepanels.
    That blue is magnificent.
    Imagine this bike in retro Yamaha racing livery...
    Ago red/white and Kenny Y yellow/black both with speedblocks. OMG.
    Seat is fixeable.

    Finally! I wanted the MT-09 but basically the same thing. I’m a little surprised with where it landed on the daily rider board but maybe it’s the seat. I got a base model MT-09 and while it had to break in. The stock seat is surprisingly comfortable because there’s so much space to move around and adjust yourself. That’s also coming from a 300lb rider so not your typical rider you’d expect on a sportier motorcycle. The thing that makes the XSR more desirable to the MT (looks aside) is the cruise control. $500 more is all it takes? The SP has it also which makes me feel like you’re being punished for buying what is imo the more practical version of the 3

      Yeah, the leader board position says a bit about the challenge with overall scores. I have had the MT07 and 09SP and apart from price and slow turn radius the latter is waay ahead in everything, even the giggle factor (which is great in both though). Still when it came down to the leaderboard comparisons with the neighbouring bikes I understand Zacks reasoning

    I wish this could've been shot with a normal or zoom lense, but the proportion of the headlight (small) to the front frame spars (huuuge), is off-putting for me. Still, it looks better than the last gen and is better differentiated from the MT in this generation.
    I also appreciate how well it does sedate riding.
    I look forward to somebody printing dustbin and cafe fairings for it.

    What I found was the seat seems to get more comfortable with more miles. I put the pegs higher but moved them back down because it would cramp my legs.

    Great video Zack…owned a FZ09 for over 6yrs and cannot denied that amazing engine my problem with Yamaha is the design specially for a retro stand point if they want to compete with speed twin and Z900rs.
    I sold my Fz09 and purchase The Z900rs Café and yes the XSR is more punchy and fun with all the tech but don’t come close to the feeling and the beauty of The Z900rs not even with the Speed twin.
    Hopefully you’ll be able to compare them on the daily rider…✌🏽✌🏽

    I’m very much interested in this style bike and I’ve been moving towards the XSR900. Something light but enough torque. I rode a GSXR 750 for a while and loved it but distance was uncomfortable given my height (6’0). Not afraid of high speed but I don’t feel it’s smart to use it too much in my area. Been looking for something in between cruise and speed and this bike seems perfect for what I’m seeking. I now ride a Road King and though I enjoy it I still want something more nimble and decent for a passenger. I miss the twisties and it bothers me that I never learned to wheelie before I sold the GSXR. The only issue I see so far as you said was 2nd gear but doesn’t seem a huge problem. That seat is ehhh..the older seats looked much better. I like this bike I will say

  • @Cheezmonka
    @Cheezmonka 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @29:27 Why would you not also say that another reason to take this over the MT-09 would be corner stability and other handling/performance differences as a result of the longer wheelbase? The longer swingarm is a nice thing to have for certains kinds of riding. That's what would sell me on it, anyways. Great video as always.

    Hi Zack. Most of the comments cover my thinking as well. I’ve been waiting for your take on the XSR900 myself as a fellow 6ft 2 guy. Awesome control from the backseat. If I wasn’t poor I might buy this or an MT09, the turning radius thing might suck in Taiwan traffic however. I’ll have to wait to see when I have money and whether or not I can talk myself into a faired version of one is coming. I still think this is a good size to scare myself enough after 20+ years riding in 250 naked to 300cc maxi-scooter range.

    • @macc1370
      @macc1370 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel the xsr700 would probably be better for Taiwan streets- My 900 feels better than my old xsr700 on the California highways at 90mph…but even the 700 is probably overkill for most roads throughout the world. Just my .02 cent opinion 🤙🤙

    • @KelvinHappyLife
      @KelvinHappyLife 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@macc1370 Thanks Mac. I’ve ridden the old MT07 a couple of times. It’s pretty good but maybe not scary enough. I have a300cc maxi scooter and have ridden that for the past 5 years, just worried the MT07 will be boring too fast and since I am skint paying for two high school kids I can not afford to buy then buy again given the double US price for motorcycles here. Plus none gives test rides which would be the best way to compare.

    I’ve had mine for 2 weeks and it definitely looks better then a Mt09, rides slightly better and seems a touch more stable. The factory tune is garbage but it’s not Yamahas fault due to emissions so I m tuning it next month and putting a m4 full exhaust because why not

    Bar end mirrors don't like. Two wide for land splitting. Have to turn your head and down to look at it. In other words, the mirrors are not in your line of sight that makes it borderline hazardous.

    • @Ringer1982
      @Ringer1982 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was thinking that bar end mirrors hazardous too, until I tried them myself. I'm using them for more than a year already. Positives about bar end mirrors: wider field of view, you don't see your shoulders. Negatives: they are smaller and if a car is far away you will probably not notice it, you need to look down which less convenient, you can't hang a helmet on it. I use foldable bar end mirrors so for lane splitting it's a draw. After using them for a while I think I prefer the conventional mirrors but safety wise they are both okay, and you need to turn your head to check the blind spots on both anyway...

    I am in the market for a new bike and this one has my eye. I agree, I think they could have left out the digital speedo and kept a needle tach and speedo. Would have made it so much cooler. They could have put a small LCD somewhere in between to select between the tech stuff but kept the feel retro.
