I don't give a crap about "heritage", I'm just happy we get an MT09 that doesn't look like it was designed by a 4-year old.

@@FortyFourTeeth I genuinely mean that. I've dealt with depression for the last 15years. Last year I decided it was time to come off my tablets. Long story short, it's been an awful past few months and I'm back to the same dosage again.
I live in the middle of nowhere and should want to go for walks in the miles of forest right outside my gates but I'm still choosing to hide inside.
You are inspiring me to get off my arse and I've actually been out on my bike (s1000rr) on Saturday for the first time in ages.
I just keep finding excuses not to go for a morning walk despite my only neighbour encouraging me to. This video has shown me the fruits of your labours though so hopefully it'll resonate deep down at some point.
I'd love to talk about this review of yours but tbh, I'm still smitten with your R Nine T that you seem to hate.
Anyway, there's only so much I write in a YT comment. Got loads to say on your insinuations about 'the lurgy' a few videos ago.
Just wanted to let you know that I admire the turnaround you've created for yourself. Simple comments like saying that you enjoyed this bike rather than feeling you need the latest and greatest pub boast show that you didn't have a 'wobble', you really were in a hole and you're an inspiration for me as to how to get out of my hole.
      Stay strong buddy 👌🏼

Dopamine and health is administered via the brain by working towards a goal. Keep your goals dead ahead and you will slowly feel better by the day! Take care of your body, but also your mind. Temporary dopamine fixes are only temporary because they don't move you towards a goal. Find that goal, and keep up the work!

Having built 4 1970s/1980s cafe racers I love this. I'm only 28 so I require good handling and power for proper riding, but new bikes bore me style wise.
This however, hits the nail on the head. All you have to do to understand why the tail is box shaped is look at late 80s Superbikes. GSXR etc. All rocking the old school box ends. Love it.

As others have said, nice to see you out testing again. Your description of this bike's purpose is exactly the reasons I have the previous generation MT-09 SP: a bike for sunny day country road scratches. My bike could handle much better though - might go and test ride one of these new XSRs to see how the revised engine, frame and electronics feel. Always liked the XSR look, all the more so since they made the latest generation MTs so fugly in my eyes.

I haven’t experienced this third generation, but I’ve spent 22k miles on the 2nd gen and I still absolutely love it. It’s an imperfect bike but the flaws only add to the bonkers hooligan experience. It feels like a 115hp supermoto. I haven’t ridden a ton of different bikes but of those I have this triple is by far my favorite.

I did the Ron haslam race school, and those bikes had bt56 tyres. Was fine. I believe it’s a commuting tyre.

Great to hear you review bikes Chris, missed you doing these reviews. I have the 2017 MT09, the engine is just awesome.
    Cheers.

I really like that some manufacturers make reviewers chuckle not just chase the speed.

Great video as usual. How would you say it compares to the Kawasaki z900rs. would the green machine be fun on the track too?

Just got my blue 2023.. Sport Heritage? IMO it's all functional.. nothing fake like the "Air Fins" on the Z900. The Frame! Wow, that's total function, the solid, uniform, satin black.. it's hard to find the engine actually. The Frame is almost a body. Love it. You know it won't break, it's Yamaha. I had a '90 taurus SHO (208K miles) with the yammie engine, 5 spd.. wow easily as fast a a mustang GT of the day, ran just like new. pin the tach almost like a rotary! Yamaha delivered a 340HP 3.0 literfire breather to Ford who tamed it down to 220 HP for production. Yamaha is first an Engine builder.. that's their expertise. They did a few HIPo engines for other car builders over the years. Starting with the Legendary RD350/RD400, followed by the masterpiece 3 cylinder GT750 2 cycle water cooled "Water Buffalo" in the 70s. That's where we learned the high value of a water jacket to silence those wierd engine rattles, knocks and whines of the Kawasaki H2.

whoops.. the GT750 was a Suzy (Suzuki)!! Gosh, I loved that bike! They lasted 40K miles.. uncracked. My bad!

Question is Who will be first to have a Ped lowering kit? I'm about your size, Christoph.. the low peg position needs another inch lower. Should be an easy bracket. I'd rather drop the pegs, leave the seat, myself. I think ground clearance will be ok..
