I've since had a major falling out with that AJ guy (who the vast majority of people can't stand and dislike): th-cam.com/video/kxsaJ3Q5YGA/w-d-xo.html Also, make sure to watch my interview with Kris Van Damme here: th-cam.com/video/hEdEVsBJ6Is/w-d-xo.html
had a look at you.. you used the botox cheeks to style up your male look... it makes you look rough.. when you look too rough as you do now in Hollywood you be cast a thug.. but a rough thug that do ballet kicks is not attractive to the shows you go cast for.. so is nothing wrong with you! is that you use the wrong fighting style compared to your rough look.. start doing judo and wrestling instead and be more of a bouncer in your audition style and you will start to get jobs directly. Keep audition for high kicks looking the way you do and is a mismatch for the casting people... please just do not be offended by me, you live in Hollywood man, just listen.. you been mismatched between your softer ballet kicking personal style and your facial more rough rumble wrestling look.. this is not a superficial comment but honest review of your channel and what can help you get cast correctly and grow big! And if you been babbling about race and minority stuff when you go on auditions, stop that right now, stop talking about race and stuff like that, if you have that in your resume take it out! do not even mention what your race is or what you represent.. skip that nonsense political shit! just be a rough and tough guy and go to the right auctions for your looks and not for your passions and inspirations of your childhood, like Van Damme, you are not a ballet kickboxer, you are are rough wrestler that smash cement walls to breakfast, show that , do that and they will match your looks with you actions! try video game character auditions for a while to get into the role of that! it all help you to get it when you have 26 cameras 360 degrees around you catching your body mechanics and look, then you will see what I am trying to tell you! it will change your career ! Wish you the best, now go match your moves to your looks! 👹😎
His kids are not hungry like JC was, they grow up having comfortable life, JC had to go through lot of things in his life before he become a star. That's probably the main reason.
Yeah like I said in my comment I really don't think that it's something that they want or need they obviously had a certain amount of privilege and comfort growing up so nothing against them it just doesn't seem like something that they really had to fight for or something they really want
This is kind of a ridiculous discussion/criticism. Van Damme can't just "teach" or set his kids up to become stars like he was. Life just doesn't work like that. All he can do is support them in their efforts to do whatever they want to do to be successful and happy.
@@garybeltrand5802 I agree there are many children of actors or singers who have never made it not because they could get the best training, etc but you cannot teach someone to be a star, you cannot only help them. This is why only a few people from the sports industry have been able to transition successfully film roles e.g The Rock, David Bautista, John Cena, Jean Claude Vaddam, Steven Segal, etc.
i was surprised. I don't agree with him here tho. i'm not sure what makes him judge how his kids were raised or trained. also how about stop talking and let Viking speak for 1 second. I agree with Sheldon that it's probably more the opposite. He doesn't have an ego that he doesn't want his kids to succeed. it's the opposite. he is trying hard to help them succeed.
Calling him a Van Damme hater is the nicest thing you can say about his abhorrent behavior. He spewed nothing but violin presented with logic he would interrupt claiming his opinions were facts.
Great to see Lettich again!! Also, the part with AJ was very interesting as well, seeing two VD fans in such a heated discussion was really fun 😁! But AJ is just talking about bad things from the 1992-1995 Van Damme. Jean Claude is a charming, humble and very close person. He put his kids on lots of movies, however, and I completely agree with Viking, they just don't have the hunger, the "necessity" and the passion his father JCVD have.
I agree with him partly with what he said in the sense of the kids never had the hunger. I disagree with him when he said "Vaddam chose not to mould his kid in his image because he was simply jealous that is plain stupid, and how would he know that. You hear these stories all the time where the parents called tiger mums or tiger parents who tries to push the kid into being what they could not whether that is a music prodigy, math prodigy, etc and years later the kids hate them or the kids run away the first chance they get. I remember reading one of many stories where an Asian kid said she never had a child hood because her parents wanted her to be a music prodigy, after school her parents would force her to play for eight hours everyday even when her fingers hurt, banned her from seeing her friends because they thought that talking was a waste of time and many years later she hated her parents and would never subject her kids through that. He just wanted his kid to be happy and live their life not his life so I disagree with AJ and not just because a Vaddam fan.
Look at Shane and Kane Kosugi, they may never be as popular as Sho yet those boys are out there making a lot of movies, I sure that makes their dad happy.
I still find it amazing about stallone and rocky how so many directors writers and actors too were embarrassed and shocked by it, an unknown actor, writer, director making it better than they ever could, a true once in a lifetime thing yet he done it multiple times, even more impressive
Man🤦🏾♂️, dude AJ was rolling with it! He wouldn’t let my man get a word in? I mean AJ had his points, but damn let the man get in the conversation to debate. I guess his mind is already made up?
I think there's no one like JCVD even his kids cant match him, the background and circumstances van damme had, where he came from, the dissapointments, the grinding, the dream.... is different than his kids grew up with already being in another environment with already having certain things travelling, hotels / luxuries and not have to fight like underdogs and overcoming a lot of hardshps. . as AJ said they got the genetics, they lookgreat as well (his 2 sons and daughter) ---- I think you got to pass certain hardships, having been in life battles, etc..... If you look at the Stallone story with his first Rocky , he's coming from very deep as well, sold his dog etc.... this spirit still resembles in his movies. I think its very hard to simulate this in you dont experience it. There's actually a guy Stefan Chapovskey, hes going through a lot hardships right now, (he's a stallone knd of guy , and because now hes facing a lot hardships as (hes russian and being cut from his own poster), while hes a fighter and looks great it will be engraved in his charisma, so I can kind of tell a guy like that has a bigger chance he will make it big at some point) Theres a video on this channel why JCVD makes a difference and its very hard for action actors to get even near his charisma, they got to come with something totally original and different. I know a lot of actors in India with rich parents etc. (als actors in lots of cases) its very hard for them to make it. An example of a kid with a succesfull father who became an action star is Tiger Shroff, but this is quite rare, he really got fire in him and sincere love for the art. .
His kids never really struck me as people who have the drive or motivation to actually go out and be actors or Stars because they only appear in films that their dad is in. It seems more like something that they all get to do together and kind of bond and have a good time and make up for lost history there as opposed to really wanting to get into learn the craft of acting and break into it. Samurai your face while listening to this guy's priceless you show amazing restraint because of how much Van Damme means to you and obviously all of us but especially to you it's never fun to hear people talk crap like that haha
You need to find out what happened to David Bradley from American Ninja 3. He was one of my favorite action stars and he went completely off the grid. It would be great if you had him on the show.
Hmmm…something I noticed about this video: AJ tries to talk over you too much. As far as why his kids aren’t as big as him…it’s not van dammes fault. If you want something in life you have to make it happen. If you fail it is no one else’s fault. It’s yours. Deep down you know you didn’t do everything you could.
I remember that episode of JCVDs reality tv series, where JC and his wife sat down and had a chat with Kris and his then girlfriend of how toxic the movie industry is. The kids of film stars will have a different perspective to those on the outside looking in. Maybe the kids could've pushed more for a career within the industry but were made aware of the dark side.
Pretty good video. I actually like to see VS in a debate. AJ was really saying some stuff I was not agreeing with and he kept talking over VS. Then VS proved me and himself right with the Sheldon Lettich interview. Couldn't imagine JCVD wouldn't want his kids to be mega successful. AJ's point about Bruce Lee was misguided as well. Bruce Lee died when he was only 32 years and Brandon was a little kid. Bruce was possibly going to go on to be a super star and that might have taken him away from his family much more. He also was involved with drugs and who knows what type of toll that would've taken on him and his personal life.
Kids trying to follow in their dads footsteps like Van Damme that's hard to do the guy is an action star legend not all kids get their parents talents or genes
I have been a huge fan of Van Dammes. His kids Bianca and Krisphoter are living in the quiet and comfortable life. They don't have the hunger, passion and energy like JC. When I watched the kids of the 80s and 90s Action Stars on movies . Why they can let their kids out there in Hollywood to become big stars.
I don’t think Van Damme’s kids want to follow their dad because into acting, because he casts a very large shadow and they would forever be compared to him.
Van Damme has had his son in alot of films. I also remember Dolph Lundgren had his daughter and Van Damme's daughter training together. If Van Damme's son had the same hunger as Scott Eastwood he'd probably have a career.
the most important question is, do his kids really wanna be labelled as being the next van Damme? get that question answered and you'll have the answer. and the only way you'll get that answer is to get his kids on your show.
Letttich hit the nail on the head though when he said that he chooses most of his cast based on the specific look a lot of this business is 90% look.. I think a lot of times as actors we walk out of an audition and we didn't get it and we think it was something we did over the years I have learned your performance in the room are on tape has very little if anything to do with actually getting cast it's a very small part of a long process you could send in the best tape ever you could blow the room away with the most perfect audition but there's so many factors that are out of your hands that really don't have anything to do with you or your personal Talent or anything it could be casting likes you but the director doesn't it could be the director likes you but the producer doesn't there's a million different things that can happen and it's just best to do your best to the audition and when it's over forget about it and move on to the next one
Maybe his kids just weren't that interested in being top martial artists or actors. It's not up to van damme to force them to be experts in either field.
Honestly, Bianca has always seemed impressive to me with her athletic ability. When Van Damme remade Kickboxer I always thought it would have been cool to see him train her in it instead of Alain Moussi and have a female villain also. Maybe if she could find a way to connect with the characters she plays more we'd see her get bigger opportunities. Although I have the feeling if she became more successful at acting she would move away from the action genre and we wouldn't get to see her martial arts skills anyway, unfortunately.
I think he's helping his kids a lot....he casts them in almost every film he's in but that doesn't mean other people will cast them in other films ??? so its kind of like a double edged sword because they have that name but not everyone likes van Damme because he was once black listed so theres a reputation there ! so having that family name has advantages and disadvantages too ?
I can understand AJ points but van damn has always come off humble to me and who’s right say how Bruce lee world have guided his children if he was still alive. Mary would have been in the same situation where he’s too busy to guide his children. And aj really comes off as a narcissist who thinks irrational about certainties he imagine to be true.
I got a chance to talk to Christopher Van varenberg on the phone one time while my twin brother was working with them on universal soldier Day of reckoning! Super cool and super nice guy!
Jcvd is one of a kind. There is something special about him that no one else has no doubt! I really do like his family as well though. I would love to see chris in a good movie that he stars in. especially if it was directed by Sheldon ☺️ I think it would just take some things to align in the right way and I believe he could be a good action martial arts star if he wanted to be.
Great interview. I agree with Sheldon Lettich about Van Damme's Kids.Thank you Viking Samurai ( David) for the recommendation of Corey Danna's book on the life and career of Sheldon Lettich "From Vietnam to Van Damme". I started reading it a few days ago and it's very interesting.
I have to side with you Viking. I do see where Van Damme is trying to grow people. In his alien movie, I felt Bianca was more the star and you can go back to Universal Soldier, his son was in there. Also, he has his TH-cam channel where he is teaching stretching and his commentary is giving and growing. I feel that it is sharing. Great video on everyone's sides.
Viking is there anyway you can tell AJ to stop talking over you all the time? On a positive note looking forward to hearing about your call with Kristopher.
Until Van Damme's kids have star drawing power then they won't be billed above him in a film. It's an unfair criticism to suggest he could easily get them starring roles.
To be honest, i never knew that Van Damme's kids even tried to do any movie at all. I even didn't thought about it. But in my opinion, if they are so bad as actors then my guess that they simply don't want to follow their father's path and do the same stuff that he did. Maybe they just wanted a simple and quiet life. Who knows. Maybe someday you could ask JCVD about his kids, or even you will had a chance to ask his kids themselfs about, why they don't do movies and are not as big actors as their father 😄
Hi Viking Samurai, Great interview with AJ & Sheldon, I totally agree with you & Sheldon, his kids have to Want it, and not just hand it to them. I seen Kris acting not bad at all. Not All Celebrities kids pursue acting, look at Will Smith kid ,Jaden he did the Reboot of Karate Kid and other films with his father but then he just stop 🤔🤷♂️. I don't agree with AJ some part is true about JCVD not being there for the Family but just criticized JCVD and Kris I mean C'mon, if JCVD kids wants to pursue acting then fine, but if they don't, who cares? As long as they don't what makes them happy is all good! Thanks VS and God bless you and your family and your guests 🙏
3 reasons: 1) Van Damme came from Brussels to be a movie star in America. It was his dream. I am not sure if the kids want that. 2) Van Damme was faced with many things: hungry, no relatives, homeless, immigrant in America. He had no choice but to work extra hard and succeed. He stole some food to survive, his kids are living lavishly. 3) Van Damme's martial arts is not just kicks- it is a beautiful art and he does it gracefully. He is interesting with it like Jackie Chan. His kids have skills but it is not smooth or interesting to watch like Van Damme.
Great Episode with a Great Topic. I always wondered about that question. It's up to the individual to want to be a star. Brandon Lee in a interview said wanted to be a Actor. He went to acting school and did auditions. In my opinion Brandon Lee was a better actor than his father and could have done different Roles in the movies. Kris Van Damme in my opinion has a presence and he should have done the remake of Kickboxer. Van Damme would want his kids to succeed. Thank you for posting my friend.
That's not fair to say as Brandon would disagree if he was alive, you saying he was better actor than his father. Bruce was only starting he never had the chance to grow as an actor due his death. Bruce was a better actor than people give him credit for. We never saw Bruce grow old, getting slow or his fat Elvis phase. Bruce had passed away at the peak of his prime.
@@GothamKnight84661 I understand what you are saying and true he passed away too early and we never got to see Bruce Lee full potential. However, Brandon Lee was heading for greatest too. He was a diverse actor, I could see him acting in horror, Drama, comedy and action films. He had great potential but was cut short. By the way a friend of mine that knows Brandon Lee mother Linda Lee. Said Linda thought highly of Brandon and said she thought he was going to surpass his father. IMO, as far in the Martial Arts Genre, nobody is beating Bruce Lee. As far as other genre, Brandon Lee was going to do very well.
That AJ Van Bakker fella doesn't seem to know how genetics works. The kids aren't clones of their father, they each only have 50% of Van Dammes traits and those traits might in worst case have zero to do with fitness, fighting and acting.
Many children of actors try and fail. Some kids make it, some do not. Also it is rare that some kids can replicate the success of their parents. Brandon Lee was awesome in the film the crow, but his other films were very average, whereas Van Damme made lots of classics.
@@boshirahmed also it's a totally different era now compared to 35 years back. The action stars of the 80's didn't really need acting skills. It was more about pure charisma and being legit tough. Todays generation are demanded to be better actors but it's not demanded to be legit tough anymore. They get their roids for good looks then only learn what's needed for the scene with shaky cam/quick cuts to hide their mediocre athletic skill. CGI and stuntmen does the rest.
@@danfors1333 Dwayn Johnson comes the closest to the old stars. However you are right it is different generation. Only a few people had big muscles in the old days.
Spot on Viking. you talked sense. AJ... in all honesty I don't think you know what you are talking about when it comes to Van Damme teaching Kris. Steven Seagal possibly the greatest Aikido master of all time taught his first Son Kentaro Aikido whom he had with his first Japanese wife; who was also an Aikido sensei. Yet, his son performs Aikido nothing like his dad, doesn't have the same charisma or skill on the mat. You wouldn't think he was his son. He never gets talked about in the Aikido world. Just because their dad was special does not mean they will no matter how much they practice or are taught by them. They have 50% genes of their mother. It can make a massive difference. Maybe Van damme doesn't want to see his kids go through all the pain, hardship and struggle he had to go through to get his break and kind of hopes they just show very little interest in the acting and martial arts for the sake of their sanity. Perhaps Van Damme says to himself... "I don't care what they do, I love them, I have all he money they need for them to be secure, I don't want them going through any hardship. I don't want them getting mixed up in that world because I love them so much and I have seen what it can do to people. i just want them to be happy and keep them protected from any kind of trouble. regarding, Brandon Lee; I'm sorry to say he seemed a nice guy but I thought he looked terrible on screen and if you didn't know, anyone looking at him wouldn't say "wow he was trained by Bruce". He looked and performed nothing like his dad. These kids need to stop piggy backing on the success of their parents and think they can do the same because often.... THEY CANT and NEVER WILL.
Seagal the best aikido master of all time? what? Seagal doesn't know what Gonzo Shioda Sensei was forgetting at his old age. Believe me Seagal doesn't know Aiki, his aikido is still very primitive.
@@carlosluismendez7392 And you are totally deluded and completely naive, unless you are just trolling. I have been to Japan. I have seen all the students from many of the masters including Shioda and I can tell you this right now.... Steven Seagals style and students were head and shoulders above the rest. The Japanese are starting to steal Seagals exercises. Seagal surpassed the founder himself.
Viking Could you do a podcast discussing some of the van damme films that never happened or some roles he was up for. I remember early 00s hearing he was due to star in Abominable & The Monk, both never happened. Also missed roles in the three muskateers(93),Rush hour 3(07). Be AWESOME. Abominable would have been epic and so different for JC. Heard Renny Harlin was to direct but id have loved John Carpenter directing JC in that
Man, I think AJ is being a little hard on JCVD and his kids. You have to love yourself to succeed the way he has and to stay on top of your game..JCVD strayed a long the way for sure, but doesn’t everyone? There’s temptation everywhere. His kids are good looking and highly talented in their own right. I think JCVD and his wife have done an amazing job with them. That particular fight scene you put up between him and his son is one of the better ones for sure, and I think Kris moves really well. Has a very intimidating look about him. Great video 💪🏻💪🏻
Love this video - And its such an interesting subject about how a famous movie star would want his kids to be famous. I remember seeing Sly Stallone and his son in ROCKY V and giving one of the best father/son performances on screen, same with other movie stars who helped make their kids famous Donald Suttherland and Keifer Sutherland, Kirk Douglas and Michael Douglas, Martin Sheen and his kids Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. I am sure Van Damme wants his kids to be as big as him (and they still can be, they are still young) so it may happen yet, they have the genes and talent to do it, they just need a special project... a ROCKY or a LIONHEART or a PRETTY WOMAN or a JAWS something significant that would launch them. It was awesome to see the voices of wisdom from Sheldon and yourself Viking haha.
This is a good one that holds true in many areas. They grew up in different times and under different circumstances. I don't know what Vandaume did or didn't do for his kids, but whether we are talking about Acting, Singing, Sports, etc just because were elite and something doesn't mean the kids will be even if they dedicated their whole life to it. 90 % of the elite do not have family that compete at the same level. When a pro athlete, actor, olympian, etc kid happens to be elite to its a big deal because it is super rare. Most Great People at a particular thing do not have a family member that is also amazing at the same thing. If that was the case, most great talents kids would automatically also be great talents, but it does not work that way. There is also hard work, luck, natural talent, etc. They can open doors and help them, but they either have it or they don't. There is also things you just cant be taught.. i wrote this real fast but you get the idea.... Peace. GREAT Channel.
Before I hear Sheldon Lettich viking samurai I know where both of you guys are coming from. Van Bocker is coming from the old time mind frame of a parent help and pushing their kids to become child stars. This type of stuff was like Natalie wood, shurly temple and alot of old time child stars in the past. Their parents would push them into the business with alot of discipline, strick scheduling and fast growing up. Alot of it payed off, but like you said the business is dirty and some of these child stars grow up missed up and without a pot to piss in. I can't speak for our boy Vam damn. All I can say is the entertainment business, in my opinion should be a business that one chooses and is willing to sacrifice for. Not be thrown into. Becuase the sacrifice can be very small or can very great and I wouldn't be surprised the least if it was the price of your soul to make it.
Hello, Viking Samurai. I can agree, Van Damme's kids have talent, but I'm not sure they have anything special, like what we associate with their father. It takes a special kind of magic, to be able to get into Hollywood, make a bunch of hit films, even after you're done making the big film, many individuals still watch your films, new fans are established, etc. When it comes to Van Damme, from what I've seen and heard of the man, he cares about his family, I'm under the impression, he tried to do alot for his kids, but they just didnt have what it takes to make it.🤷♂️Great video. TERRANCE OUT
As a failings actor myself you both touched on something I learned in going to all these casting calls. I didn't believe it until one the guys in charge told me exactly what yall said. If you have the look that fits they'll handle the rest. I am starting my 21st year in this business, now I have to bill myself out as a Native American because being mixed hasn't worked for me. So wish me luck that there is a role, for a Native who does Kung fu. Anyway thanks for hearing me our. Maybe check some of my kungfuhavok2 videos, let me know what you think. My real TH-cam channel is called kungfuhavok2 and I have kungfuhavok1 please give them a look see
@@axelstone3131 I'm way short, I am only 5'3 in a half that's also worked against me in this world and as for trying to get my acting career. But I'm happy being short and proving that we short guys can be awesome too.
I can disagree more with AJ sorry but I don't think Van Damme would put him Infront his kids . You can see that he trained his kids . No every body has the charisma Infront the cameras ...!!!
the time in the early 80s was totally different, the movies he did was new to us, only Bruce Lee had done something similar... and he was not a Western person like Van Damme.... his kids grow up like spoiled brats in LA... they did not grow up with dreams of becoming a movie star, they did not go through a tough life with ambitions to become a super strong guy and top knock down karate tittles ... he was an European French speaking talent going to Hollywood looking like mother in law dream but fighting like a raging bull with his feet! wake up, , there is only one Van Damme in this world! Rocky was just a character , Van Damme was the real thing!
As an African martial arts actor and filmmaker, I know what it means to be hungry both in real life and spiritually. He is right, you need that mystical thing to succeed in cinema. Asian culture is different from the West. Sho Kusugi did everything so that his children be next martial arts film star. Kane Kosugi is very talented but his biggest film today is Ninja 2 with Scott Adkins whereas his father was in the Ninja film with Rain which was big budget film. Bolo Yeung has been training his son David Yeung in bodybuilding. Yes his son is definitely a better bodybuilder than his father but not a film star. Certainly you'll surely do a special video about the children of the action stars of the 80's and 90's. Even the children of Chuck Norris (82 years old) have not succeed in the film business like their father. I teach martial arts. It's a tough sports. Not everyone is willing to sweat.
Arnold, Stallone, jcvd, seagull European genetics and accent in 90's had international appeal and could actually make profit. But once they married american or raised their kids with American accent they were done and required more acting talents more body building most of them didn't bread like horses.
My hat off to Sheldon and the other dude that couldn't control his mouth should understand that even Clint Eastwood's kids are trying to carve their own way and not waiting daddy to chew for them so they can swallow easily.
Viking Samurai you are right. His son doesn’t have screen presence and charisma. I believe Brandon Lee had what it takes to be an action star obviously. He had presence and charisma. AJ is correct as well about Van Damme not wanting his son to takeover the limelight and stardom that JC once had, IMO from the outside looking in. It’s common for fading male stars to not want their sons to succeed over them. For example, Sage Stallone and Sylvester Stallone. In “Rocky 5,” Sage gave a terrific performance and was a natural. He disappeared after that, and was not close to his father. Watch the “Sally Jesse Raphael” 1990 interview with Sylvester and his son. It was clear Sylvester was bothered by the attention that his son was getting, and in subtle ways put him in his place several times. Sly had to be center of attention. It was hard to watch their dynamic. I’m a huge Sly fan, btw.
Would love to see that interview if you have it. Tried searching and couldn't find it :( but its interesting you say that. I always noticed Sly saying Rocky 5 was bad and vaguely remember him saying he wished he never did it. I personally really dont think it's bad. But I know in in the minority :P
I don’t think they want to be in the spotlight like van damn did. Not everyone wants that. Brandon lee was on the path to enormous fame and success. And it wasn’t just because he was Bruce’s son. Brandon was likeable, smart and charismatic. He wanted to act regardless of Bruce. He even said he wanted to do all sorts of roles, dramatic, action etc. Brandon also probably felt like it was his responsibility to carry the mantle of his dad in many ways which he wasn’t to sure about when he was growing up, but I feel as he got older he was becoming more okay with that. It’s different. Van damn isn’t bruce lee. Bruce was a pioneer. I don’t think anyone will ever come close to his global reach in terms of martial arts, legacy or fame.
The thing is though without the movie Crow, Brandon would never have been able to show off his acting chops. His other movies were entertaining but average. Whereas Dolph Lundgren always had movie star looks and that dangerous look. Some kids just do not have that hunger.
@@boshirahmed Brandon would have had his chance regardless of the crow. He was getting work regardless and being who he was and his talent, there are other avenues he could have gone done such a theatre and television which he had already done, not to mention gone deeper into Bruce’s teaching and maybe helped promote the art himself which he never really got to do during his lifetime
Man, that AJ Van Bakker was getting on my nerves listen to that guy not let you speak. He is the type of guy if he finds out he was wrong about something in his mind he is still right. So he thinks Van Damme, making millions in his prime, should stop that and make his kids movies stars, which would not have happened, and lose his fame and fortune? That is crazy. Don’t get me wrong, spend time with your kids but when daddy has to go to work he’s got to go pay them bills.
Van Bakker annoys me . He brings up Bruce Lee and training Brandon because of a picture. Brandon Lee was 8 when Bruce passed, so Brandon trained under Inosanto . You can see in van damme's kids have same fighting style and move sets , so van damme apparently had some training with kids. Damn , I don't know how you even got a word in with Bakker, his ego seems bigger than van damme. Lol
Excellent interview and love how you and AJ Van Bakker going at It...lol....I would do anything to hang out with you fellas out here in SoCal.....But anyway's, personally, from a fan stand point, Kris and Bianca doesn't have that It factor like JCVD as far as the natural charisma, charm and that presence that JCVD has which stood out not as a martial artist, but his physical attributes was impressive and ahead of his time. A big man doing 360 degree kicks was unheard of from a man his size at the time.....Kris can still be in the industry as far as a TV day time drama star, small role in action film like a co-star or director. Bianca would be more fit as a model on a magazine or something. Just my thoughts...5 star video Viking Samurai. Keep it up...Gerald.
Joe Montana's son played football but didn't make the NFL...it's rare for someones offspring to become famous....Scott Eastwood is doing his best and he looks just like his dad! Bianca is gorgeous! I know she was really training for one of the Mortal Kombat movies....
Hopefully they make it big and that's not just because their dad is Van Damme, but also because they're great martial artists and FAR from mediocre and Kris I know is actually a good actor
@dominiak9059 I asked Bianca on her Instagram once about it, and by her response yeah I'm sure she has other ventures. I wish her and her brothers all the best whether they pursue acting or not
I have no idea who this guy is but he brings up some good points and you do as well. To be a huge movie star, you have to be selfish and focus on that. Tom Cruise is a great filmmaker but I guarantee you he is not a good father. You cannot be both of those things at the same time. As a father, no movie or stardom would be worth not being able to spend time with my kid. Also, I don't think Bruce Lee was into his kids as much as this guy thinks. Regardless, he is right about an awful lot of things but no one knows the whole story except the Van Damme family. I also think his kids don't really want to try to do what he did and times have changed anyway. Sheldon is very insightful though.
To be honest and blunt AJ is a bad interview, he kept interrupting you. On another note having that huge shadow of JCVD , has a lot of weight especially for his kids. His kids may not have the same drive as him or that was'nt his/her interest. Brandon had that drive and wanted to be in movies and love the last segment Mr.Lettich on the other hand know interviews and great fountain of knowledge...great job mate on interviews 👍
Great video, like always. Some interesting points and info. From my personal experience and point of view as a creative type and someone who is pursuing stuff etc. I think its really an accumulation of the reasons brought up from AJ and Sheldon. As much as I am a fan of Vandammes works, he really went bonkers at his peak as a celebrity, his ego was sky high and allota bombartment of things happening (more offers movie preassure, competition with Seagal etc). It sorta like he was in a crazy tunnel vision state and lost track with family. Well, thats how I see it. Glad that he has sorted himself out and is in a happy state. As for his kids, great athletes for sure. But like you say, they didnt have that special abilities and IT factor that their old man had. Also, maybe they had other interests or ambitions.
I wasn't too sure about AJ at first and I used to wind him up a bit lol, but then I saw him give some guy a business card when he was doing a split kick hold in the park and thought nah he's actually a good guy
With Kris it's simple. He doesn't have what JCVD had, legit 'movie star' looks. JCVD had the duel quality of looking like a model whilst also having a unique face which didn't remind you of anyone else.
I agree with a lot with Sheldon. Kris has better acting skills. Bianca is hot but her acting doesn't seem too good. I saw them both in some UFO movies with Van Damme. But the script was not good to begin with. If they desire to become actors then maybe would be good to start off with a good supporting role. Not necessarily a speaking role either. Like Van Damme started of without saying much in Black Eagle and No Retreat No Surrender.
I've since had a major falling out with that AJ guy (who the vast majority of people can't stand and dislike): th-cam.com/video/kxsaJ3Q5YGA/w-d-xo.html
Also, make sure to watch my interview with Kris Van Damme here: th-cam.com/video/hEdEVsBJ6Is/w-d-xo.html
had a look at you.. you used the botox cheeks to style up your male look... it makes you look rough.. when you look too rough as you do now in Hollywood you be cast a thug.. but a rough thug that do ballet kicks is not attractive to the shows you go cast for.. so is nothing wrong with you! is that you use the wrong fighting style compared to your rough look.. start doing judo and wrestling instead and be more of a bouncer in your audition style and you will start to get jobs directly.
That's what I was thinking, too!
Yeah like I said in my comment I really don't think that it's something that they want or need they obviously had a certain amount of privilege and comfort growing up so nothing against them it just doesn't seem like something that they really had to fight for or something they really want
I said the same thing! He dad had the desire...he sold his gym and left to the U.S. to be in movies and doing whatever to make it
This quote came to mind 'Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times'
I 100% agree
No one is above criticism, and Van Damme is not above that, but he has giving his kids plenty of opportunity.
To Fail at Ballet 😂😂
He used to smile back in the day that won fans over!
This is kind of a ridiculous discussion/criticism. Van Damme can't just "teach" or set his kids up to become stars like he was. Life just doesn't work like that. All he can do is support them in their efforts to do whatever they want to do to be successful and happy.
@@chrishambrick892 🤣🤣😂🤣😂
@@garybeltrand5802
I agree there are many children of actors or singers who have never made it not because they could get the best training, etc but you cannot teach someone to be a star, you cannot only help them. This is why only a few people from the sports industry have been able to transition successfully film roles e.g The Rock, David Bautista, John Cena, Jean Claude Vaddam, Steven Segal, etc.
Oh good! I've been missing Sheldon on here, it's great to have him back! I could listen to his stories for hours!
I can listen to Sheldon lettich all day. Such a great interview. Keep ‘em coming Viking. 👍🏻
I like AJ, but he sounds like a Van Damme hater at this point. You can't teach STARPOWER no matter how much training you have.
Had to eventually fast forward his section of the video, guy just seemed to only want to get his point across and not hear anything else
@@tofasttofurious2819 Indeed. And he is the one to talk about narcisme..lol. His whole presence screams narcism.
i was surprised.
He sounds jealous that he isn't JCVD's son. It seems that he is projecting his own relationship with his father or something.
AJ Van Bakker calling someone else narcissistic is peak irony
Aj jelouse ez cuz hes a nobody
He says Van Damme doesn't want people to be better than him?
He worked with Scott Adkins,Scott is better than him.🤗
Look at Shane and Kane Kosugi, they may never be as popular as Sho yet those boys are out there making a lot of movies, I sure that makes their dad happy.
Upvote for the Sheldon segment. always nice to see what he has to share.
Van Damme had a lot of things against him (language, culture, finances, etc) and still hustled to achieve and make a name for himself in Hollywood.
The cocaine ruined his career and asking for to much money on a 3 movie deal
Both seem great ppl. Bianca is Gawjus. Love When Sheldon is on. Class guy. Cant get enough of the 80s/90s stuff.
There's actually a guy Stefan Chapovskey, hes going through a lot hardships right now, (he's a stallone knd of guy , and because now hes facing a lot hardships as (hes russian and being cut from his own poster), while hes a fighter and looks great it will be engraved in his charisma, so I can kind of tell a guy like that has a bigger chance he will make it big at some point)
Theres a video on this channel why JCVD makes a difference and its very hard for action actors to get even near his charisma, they got to come with something totally original and different.
My too
Hmmm…something I noticed about this video: AJ tries to talk over you too much. As far as why his kids aren’t as big as him…it’s not van dammes fault. If you want something in life you have to make it happen. If you fail it is no one else’s fault. It’s yours. Deep down you know you didn’t do everything you could.
Very good video Viking! That AJ guy speaks a lot but he doesn't listen. That's not wise. It's always interesting listen to the great Sheldon Lettich👌👍
Van Damme tried to get his son in Expendables 2 but they gave the part to Chris helmsworth brother instead.
That is what I'm thinking.
Exactly. This AJ have an unsense argument
Great video as always ❤

This lead to an interview with Kris Van Damme himself th-cam.com/video/hEdEVsBJ6Is/w-d-xo.html
This was a great conversation.🥰🤗
great stuff as always !
I love you Bianca!! Lol seriously though, I don't think they want it but I've always had a feeling that JCVD's grandkids would want to be movie stars.
I got a chance to talk to Christopher Van varenberg on the phone one time while my twin brother was working with them on universal soldier Day of reckoning! Super cool and super nice guy!
I agree with VS. He got them in a few low budget flicks, it's up to his kids to pursue the rest.
AJ is hysterical lol, he's says some of the dumbest things with such confidence lol, gotta luv him tho
I have no idea what AJ is talking about
Jcvd is one of a kind.
Awesome interview really enjoyed it
A like a heated discussion, way more interesting than two guys agreeing
I have to side with you Viking. I do see where Van Damme is trying to grow people. In his alien movie, I felt Bianca was more the star and you can go back to Universal Soldier, his son was in there. Also, he has his TH-cam channel where he is teaching stretching and his commentary is giving and growing. I feel that it is sharing. Great video on everyone's sides.
Well you got to remember Erine Reyes Jr. Did a lot more than people him credit for
@James Williams Jr. aka E.F.G Ecko Fang Greywolf sad.he did alot growing up,but then, nothing.he could of had a bigger martial arts career
Alien Uprising has Van Damme's daughter in it more than himself.
I thought I've subbed before...lol just subbed ☺
I'm actually interviewed Kris Van Damme and we address this video along with some other stuff!
3 reasons:
1) Van Damme came from Brussels to be a movie star in America.
Really, his kids look pretty awesome to me! Of course there will never be another Van Damme but come on! Where is AJs kids?
I spoke to Paco he decline for now. But I told him all about your show so hopefully in the future. Thanks 🙏🏻
Cool, thanks for the update.

Ya, Kris looked really good in "Kill em All", I actually haven't seen that clip until I was putting the video together.
Mr. Bakker (hope I spelled it right) doesn't know that movie business, or the fact that Van Damme wanted his kids to succeed.
My real TH-cam channel is called kungfuhavok2 and I have kungfuhavok1 please give them a look see
Van Damme had a unique look, for his short stature, a heroic accent, I think at the time a foreign accent made you tough. Also some charisma.
I'll check it out... Good luck going fwd btw!

Van Bakker doesn’t like to let the Viking speak 😅 he just keeps talking
Narcissistic borderline sociopathic
the time in the early 80s was totally different, the movies he did was new to us, only Bruce Lee had done something similar... and he was not a Western person like Van Damme....
his kids grow up like spoiled brats in LA...
they did not grow up with dreams of becoming a movie star, they did not go through a tough life with ambitions to become a super strong guy and top knock down karate tittles ... he was an European French speaking talent going to Hollywood looking like mother in law dream but fighting like a raging bull with his feet!
wake up, , there is only one Van Damme in this world!
Arnold, Stallone, jcvd, seagull
European genetics and accent in 90's had international appeal and could actually make profit. But once they married american or raised their kids with American accent they were done and required more acting talents more body building most of them didn't bread like horses.
This AJ Van kakker is a goof!! Next !!
You got that pump going in those arms, that vain in your left arm is screaming! Props, I'm super jelly
My hat off to Sheldon and the other dude that couldn't control his mouth should understand that even Clint Eastwood's kids are trying to carve their own way and not waiting daddy to chew for them so they can swallow easily.
Damn, good point.

Thanks
You let this guy talk over you too much! Your show! You run it bro!
They were also in Daylight
Sly might have been concerned about his son receiving stardom at such a young age. It can really mess up a kid.
@@wantutosigh1117 very true.
Totally Brandon Lee was a movie star!!
There is something, you can't learn. And that's having Carisma 😉
I think dude is right on the kids not having the same ability as Jean Claude...
Lol
Bruce lee trained brandon as soon as he could walk
Well said Obi One.
Kids are different people than both their parents, geez. Even with so many similarities, we are all different people than our parents.
Because they are haves. They don't have the rage that their father had.
I’m sure they have been successful in other ventures in life and I’m sure they know the bs of Hollywood
I actually got to interview Kris Van Damme where we of course addressed this video and other stuff too.
Lol Viking Samurai gets about 2 words in here with Bakker.
Art looks great!
You need to have the X Factor to be like Van Damme.
With Kris it's simple. He doesn't have what JCVD had, legit 'movie star' looks. JCVD had the duel quality of looking like a model whilst also having a unique face which didn't remind you of anyone else.
Someone should teach Bakker how to have a conversation. Just constantly raising his voice and speaking over VS.
I've since had a falling out with him, hes extremely toxic th-cam.com/video/kxsaJ3Q5YGA/w-d-xo.html
By the way Bruce Lee and Jean-Claude lived very different lifestyles!
AJ really likes to hear himself talk doesn't he A true narcissist in its purest form
He's way worse than I ever imagined! th-cam.com/video/kxsaJ3Q5YGA/w-d-xo.html
