I grew up around the corner from Frank and knew of Mr. Tanaka. I wasn’t as close to him as Frank was but remember he had a charming smile and a pleasant little garden he tended. I can confirm this is all real. Tanaka only briefly showed he was hiding a less than peaceful past when our neighborhood was invaded by zombies in 1983. Believing my family to be doomed, a cloaked figure appeared out of nowhere, dispatched every last zombie and then was about to disappear into the sunset when I was able to tug on his sleeve and ask him what his name was and how I could repay him. He lifted up just enough of his mask to reveal that all too familiar smile. I never saw him after that. Frank went on to rebuild our small town by hand, nailing each board by hand and welding each piece of metal with chi. To all the haters, don’t believe everything you read on the internet
Tankaka may have been real, but there is no proof he was a master of martial arts and even less proof of his connection to ninjas. That’s what’s at issue here. Dux made it all up
100% agree . So their was 1 guy .. named Tanaka that lived in California , in the 70's . During the time Dux was supposed to have done all this . It also does not Disprove it either. Im not defending the dude. Im stating facts. Also, add to it, the scar, and the ancestry to the Samurai clan. That amps things up a bit more.
True. And we all know Dux loves to give peoples names...and those peoples never heard about him. Give a name dont proof nothing. He need to bring pictures with him...or bring Tanaka's parents to confirm It.
@@johndough8115 That is true but it is also true many Japanese people if you go back far enough had ties in their ancestry to a Samurai clan. For hundreds of years Japan didn't let the outside world in at all so their is a lot of families being interwoven in areas.
Its weird, If Frank Dux was his student for six years...how he dont have any pictures of him and with him. No adress, no parents to confirm his stories...no other student...and why he didnt knew his whereabouts? He put in his official site he died in Japan, after a while, he change the story that was Tanaka diying wish to him fighting in Kumite and he die in USA (fun fact...in his book secret man he told it was a CIA plan for him to fight in kumite to spy a criminal organization...so he change again what he told in Black belt magazine). So find a guy with a name Senzo Tanaka doesnt proof anything. Dont proof he is Frank friend and If he teach martial arts to anyone. Frank Dux told that Senzo Tanaka was a Black Dragon and I.F.A.A instructor...why no one have any pictures with him? Its weird...Frank Dux did the same thing with the guys in CIA...giving his names in his book and telling he know the guys...and the guys denied he ever meet him. Even a General threat to sue him If dont remove his book from stores...because he is using his name and he never have nothing with him. Dux like to use real names (like in secret man) but the person he talk about never heard about him. Tanaka could be the same thing. We need to find Tanaka grave and Interview his family to ask If he was a ninjitsu teacher and If they know who is Dux.
"We need to find Tanaka grave and Interview his parents to ask If he was a ninjitsu teacher and If they know who is Dux." How is anyone going to interview Senzo Tanaka's parents? By holding a seance? He was born in 1888, which means his parents were obviously born before 1888. No one who was born in the 1800s is alive today. The current oldest living person was born in 1907.
Forget the "Mandela Effect", what we have here is "Small Man Syndrome Effect" of people trying to destroy a once hero's reputation by all means. Like Viking said, probably because of the Van Damme case, sort of like the Novak Djokavic effect at the moment, Worlds No.1 player refuses to take the jab and suddenly half the World hates him and the media are relentless on him. Why would Frank pick a name out of the air in 1980 like Senzo Tanaka, not to mention his wife"s name and think, Oh!, I'll go to the National Archives and see if he exists and then study him in case someone asks me in 2023 if he exists over a movie I'm going to do in 1988? Or look him up in 2022-23 like Adam did. I tend to believe him, some details obviously have been distorted by Production in the movie, but I find Frank quite credible when he talks about his times, I'm good at finding contradictions but Frank seems very credible. On a side note, I was introduced to A.P. George through a friend, the Referee in Bloodsport, when he was working at a Hotel in Sydney Australia in the mid 90's and had a good conversation with him. Nice guy!
I think there’s so much grey area on the Dux issue. I’m glad Viking has the balls to investigate the claims and use actual documents to verify claims. I think Dux did fight in a kumite. It was probably low-budget but I bet he did some kinds of fighting.
@@TheMicahwitz you can bet and look into the supposed grey area, but anyone that's been educated in critical thinking skills will say there's no grey area, there's no evidence to support Frank's claims, there is actually plenty of evidence against them. @@rustyshackleford735 well, the dude knows martial arts, It’s not like he knows nothing. Is he the super man he claims to be? I don’t agree that he was an ultimate warrior dude, boy I also think there is some truth to his stories.
Interesting bit from wikipedia: Johnson reported he could find no evidence of Dux's alleged teacher Senzo "Tiger" Tanaka in history books or from other martial arts experts. Dux told Johnson he did not know the whereabouts of Tanaka or even if he was still alive, though in later years changed his story to say it was Tanaka's dying wish for him to compete in the Kumite. When Johnson pointed out that Dux's teacher has the same name as a ninja commander from Ian Fleming's James Bond novel You Only Live Twice, Dux responded by saying that Fleming "used to base his characters on real people". In March 2017, Dux wrote an article saying he had found Tanaka's death certificate, which showed he had died in Los Angeles in 1975, though as of 2016 Dux's website said that Tanaka died in Japan. The twists and turns this story takes. I never thought I would see Adam McKinley take a complete 180 on his stance towards Dux, especially after the explosive tirades on Facebook back in March and April. Kudos to McKinley for admitting his faults with you, and taking a gentler stance regarding Dux.
@@oldironsides4107 He is Sean Kanan’s Sensei as well as John Signorella’s. McKinley has a history with Dux that went back and forth. There was a lot of mud slinging on Facebook and all.
I think he got lucky that there happened to be a guy named tanaka who probly was a translator for the military. The smoking gun is frank cant produce evidence of himself or any of his claims lololololol
A note to Adam McKinley: David frames a debate and let's the audience make it's own decisions. He has been the most fair interviewer I have watched on this platform in the Martial Arts genre. He trains himself, he has a love of the same movies and content we all grew up with and he has heard all the same info any of us have heard or read throughout the years regarding other martial artists yet stays 100% un biased in order to frame the debate and get the knowledge flowing so we CAN make our own minds up. And I have to say I appreciate it so much. Other channels put out love or hate videos, Viking Samurai puts out the debate video and brings in great guests, like you, in order to see the issue from all angles. In order to know the mountain, one has to see it from every angle.
Frank isn't a legit martial artist. Where are the videos of him doing these moves and display his super kicks. I've seen his dumb demonstrations and none athletic moves lol. Probably frank beg this dude to please talk good about him.
"Tanaka" is one of Japan's most common last names. It's the same as "Jones", "Smith" or "Johnson" in the U.S. "Senzo" is typical of older Japanese names (early to mid 20th Century), so it's not unbelievable that the name existed, and that an immigrant with that name existed in LA during the 60s-70s.
@ Viking Samurai wow one of the best interviews up to date dude . love your journalism approach and all the research you do behind the scenes to bring us all these interviews ,Thanks man never retreat never surrender

Adam McKinley and Dux should release video footage of them training to prove it. Also I saw clips of Adam McKinley on youtube and he looks like a beginner martial artist so what would he know about effective martial arts?
Dude, don't you know that if you watch a video of him doing the Dim Mak that you'll get a phone call and a girl will respond by saying "Seven days"? It's too dangerous!
That was pretty funny! Tanaka is so real, that you have to obtain all of these papers on him just to prove his existence. For all other Martial Arts masters, teachers, instructors, or so forth, there is no need to have to prove their existence, as their schools, students, and so forth speak for themselves. The fact that you have to prove Tanaka's existence disproves that he was a Martial Arts master, teacher, or instructor.
@@danielhackett1581 Well, as a Martial Artist, I am writing primarily in a way that Martial Artists would understand. For in the Martial Arts, there is no Martial Arts Master, Instructor, Teacher, or Coach that needs to prove that they lived, as their Marital Arts skills speak for themselves. Thus, to have to prove that someone even lived on this earth, (for Martial Artists,) disproves that they were a Martial Arts Master, Instructor, Teacher, or Coach. And this is what I was trying to communicate with my comment.
If you have an absurd story in fighting and martial arts and youre friends with Ashida Kim and James Hydrick. As frank ssid hydrick would throw guys off of rooftops in the kumite all the time. James Hydrick was known for Throwing guys off the rooftops. Don’t worry it was only 4 stories high. And he knew how to throw a guy without killing them… When you tell a story like this you just lose all credibility. And the guy had decades to concoct bs Having said that unlike his interviews and movies.
Oh please. Even if Mr. Tanaka existed, we’d still need to establish the existence of the so-called Tanaka clan. Where was it based from? What domain did it served? What are the circumstantial historical claims and evidences supporting or suggesting the existence of the clan? Accepting that the story being told by Mr. Dux was indeed one conveyed by Mr. Tanaka, we’d still need to prove Mr. Tanaka’s claims. But let me ask this: how is Mr. Tanaka’s full name written in Kanji? And his wife’s name? And how is it that all documents purportedly associated with the man’s existence are always written in English, and not in Japanese? Has anyone engaged in research using the Japanese language, and if so what are the findings? It’s not reasonable to do English-only research regarding a man who is purported to be born in late 1800’s Japan and hope to prove anything conclusively. I’d be great if such research dug out anything, but until them, I’d suggest that strong skepticism is the only reasonable position to take given the bombastic and culturally misaligned nature of Mr. Dux’s general claims concerning the source and origin of his martial prowess.
Yeah, Maybe some random dude, just made up a fake name and trolled some kid by teaching him a load of bollocks. It's far more likely than there being a whole family that nobody within Koga Ryu has heard of

It's interesting. On this channel, there's a video titled, "Did Senzo Tanaka really train Frank Dux in the Martial Arts and what was it like?" If you skip to 3:30 on that video, there's a close-up image of Tanaka's file from the National Archives. It clearly says, about Tanaka, "Distinctive marks - None" Isn't that where it should mention the scar on the thumb? 🤔
You have always had an open mind when it comes to Frank Dux and have been nothing but fair to him these interviews are.the ones we needed to give Frank Dux a chance of telling his side of the story. I belive him 💪
He can be a real person, but it doesn't mean he can fight, and it definitely doesn't mean Dux doesn't lie about him. He lied on your show when he said Tanaka taught the Kenpo Grandmaster Chow who immigrated from China!! BS!!
@Viking Samurai yep.I think people don't realize this fun trivia. Kumite was used in no retreat no surrender way before, bloodsport.U need to try and get Kurt McKinney and Loren avedon on the podcast
It can be debated if Frank said Tanaka had a scar on his thump and the information is listed in those documents - and he has a copy. Given Frank's history and his proven lies, he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt.
Good interview Viking Samurai. Some of what Frank claimed might have been true, but other things were not. Also, Tanaka did exists, but who is to say Frank did not do what Adam did? Pulled the info and made mental notes on things.
Asking the right questions. Things that didn't add up. Frank Dux Military Record says dates of His service. The Secret Competition Started after Frank Dux left the service. Was Senzo Tanaka able to train Frank Dux? Was Senzo Tanaka way too old to teach anyone. On the dates He would have met Frank Dux. People who knew Frank Dux said he was a like a Con Man about everything. And almost 80% of what Frank Dux said has been proven false.

If you claim to be a fighter and you feel like you need to prove your skills, things get real easy, test your skills in a fight. Even if you lose you can still show that you have some skill during the fight. A fight can also be done in a respectful and safe way, with a good ref and respectful rule set. With youtube being as popular as it is, you can share that with the world.
It’s not that Tanaka existed, it’s was he a “ Ninjutsu” master and did he train Ducks.. Over the years I have met and trained and worked in all kinds of jobs and places, some like the guys I crewed for on boats, were retired military pilots…but I don’t claim that they taught me how to fly an airplane. Knowing someone and claiming mastery of an imaginary martial art learned from them are two different things. Training a mediocre martial artist to be better isn’t that big a deal, that’s why a good sensei is a good sensei.Self taught can often teach bad habits that can be easily spotted and addressed. A scar on the thumb? I worked after school cleaning fish…I have scars all over my hands, but it doesn’t prove anything except I was young and working in near darkness. Also…a red flag…Shotokan wasn’t around 200 years ago…Gichin Funikoshi developed the system in the late 20’s early 30’s….how this guy could make that mistake says he isn’t much in research.
Viking, it would be interesting to get Don Roley on the show. I’m going to have to see why Roley and McKinley had a falling out because they were allies at one time. The back and forth is hard to keep up with, lol.
Adams' footage of him executing his kicks makes him look like he'd be an absolute wild handful if you had to face him on the street! His general appearance would make his sudden ferocious attacks take you by complete surprise as well...
....so your telling me Tanaka was some kind of ex-con who they cant confirm if he was some agent...only to have later settled down and taught MA to dux?lol Sorry man..this whole thing sound hilarious! That photo of Tanaka doesnt look like no gangster. Love this channel though!
Still the guy lied more then he told the truth. It’s one thing to add a little spice to make a story more entertaining. It’s another thing to claim your a Medal of Honor winner. For a lie to last this long it has to have just enough truth you can’t prove it all wrong. Personally I think he’s full of it.
Sheldon Lettich said that Frank Dux (in his home) showed Sheldon the Medal of Honor that he was awarded (covertly), only to later try to convince Sheldon that he never did do that. Either Sheldon's lying or Frank's lying. It's one or the other. Who's not telling the truth?
Just do a little Internet search. Try searching for "Frank Dux Fraud" or "Frank Dux Fake." You'll get plenty of responses. But as far as I know, there's only one person out there who's regularly and repeatedly calling me a liar, and that's Frank Dux himself. Maybe that's because I've known Frank for 40 years, and I know where all the bodies are buried, and he knows that.
@@sheldonlettich2728 I don't know if you're the *real* Sheldon Lettich, but I don't know with certainty who's telling the truth. Having said that, the more important question is "Who would be motivated to lie about this, and for what gain?" I don't see what Sheldon has to gain by disparaging Frank. Unless he has some sort of old grudge against him? At any rate, Frank has been rather inconsistent with his stories over the course of 30 years so I put my money on Sheldon being the honest person, here.
Viking, see if you can find Jeffrey Strompf who was a U.S Cryptologist for the U.S. Government Covert Operations. In an interview he talked about working with Frank Dux and stated what an amazing and talented man Frank Dux is. There are a few early videos about Frank you should see. One is 'Thats Incredible with Frank Dux'. And a better one, 'AMSI Archive 010 from Martial Arts Today'. I think these videos will help you about the controversy about Frank Dux. When I was younger and participated in Martial Arts competition they were not tight the way they are today with style and weight classes. We had Artists that were Blue belts beating Black belts. People were getting hurt.. So I learned early that style and level weren't as important as the teacher and hands on practical training you had. Artist that had well rounded training in their Art, boxing, ground game, good kicking abilities were the better Martial Artists. I give credit where credit is due. Real resistance training and a well rounded training in all positions will weed out the more effective artists. That's why Bruce Lee was a revolutionary at the time. He was a mixed martial artist before those concepts were popular. So Frank Dux has knowledge and skills I've seen in which videos I could find online. These skills can only be achieved thru training. The only problem I have with Frank is the Bulllit Proof Glass demonstration was bull. That doesn't mean he has not been an inspiration to many. I respect anyone who puts in the time to be a martial artist. Is hard to train, be consistent, and gain skills. Frank is the Inspiration for Blood Sport. So whatever side of the fence you are on with the Frank, he inspired a generation to train in Martial Arts. That's a good thing. It's true and positive. I agree with Don Wilson about why is everything so secretive with Frank Dux? Release these secret films he has. Show some CIA documentation. Most has been so long ago and may be declassified by now. Even if most information is blacked out. Release them. What's the secret? No one living back then or the history of these special ops matters today. I do respect Frank Dux skill in teaching. It's very knowledgeable. And some of the film I've seen of Frank show skill. But to get to the real truth of the kumite is to release the evidence that he has and show people his secret ops background. It would settle a lot of speculation and criticism of Frank. But any interview I've ever seen him in, and any demonstration he's ever given, including teaching, he has always been soft-spoken and humble. Whether you believe his explanations or not on his background, he gives good and reasonable answers. Most of the phony martial artists cannot. So in the the end Viking, I hope the name I gave you about the cryptologist and the videos I recommended involving Frank, will help you. And maybe you can do another show on these. Thank you for your good work and I love your show.
But, if the document says something about the SCAR, and DUX got the document prior then why is that quantifiable proof? It's not, he could have again purchased the same documents.

Why? That guy is a big fake too along with Count Dante. Is it Vikings mission to get these con artists on and let them tell their story unchallenged? If Coumt Dante were alive Viking would get him too lol. Wouldn't you Viking?
Getting legendary Japanese Korean Ninja who was actually a white guy on the Viking Samurai show would be amazing! I had a lot of that guys books when I was in six grade and wanted to be Sho Kosugi :)

A guy having the name doesn't prove the claims of who this particular Tanaka was and his relationship with Dux.
It’s the dumbest thing One could think of. It’s a common name. The americas John peterson.

I have scars on 7 out of 10 fingers.
My wife has a scar on her thumb.
Just silly.

So awesome to see Adam on the channel. You're really getting a lot of great interviews
A retired man with disabilities has MUCH time on his hands. I am sure Dux was surfing TH-cam, rebutting haters, when he came across Adam.
Dux is a legend.
We need to find Tanaka grave and Interview his family to ask If he was a ninjitsu teacher and If they know who is Dux.
...its cause he faked the whole story on a person who actually existed. Its like saying my drunk neighbor as a kid trained me to be a lethal weapon.

"We need to find Tanaka grave and Interview his parents to ask If he was a ninjitsu teacher and If they know who is Dux."
How is anyone going to interview Senzo Tanaka's parents?
Nice guy!
I don’t think I will ever get tired of the Dux stuff. It’s always so entertaining
I think there’s so much grey area on the Dux issue. I’m glad Viking has the balls to investigate the claims and use actual documents to verify claims. I think Dux did fight in a kumite. It was probably low-budget but I bet he did some kinds of fighting.
Yeah, Too bad it's not educational as well.
I'm so tired of it already I'm at the verge of unsubscribing, if he doesn't start mixing it up more.
And I have to say I appreciate it so much. Other channels put out love or hate videos, Viking Samurai puts out the debate video and brings in great guests, like you, in order to see the issue from all angles. In order to know the mountain, one has to see it from every angle.

So something is not true if it's proven to be true?! Is that what you're saying?
@@danielhackett1581 Well, as a Martial Artist, I am writing primarily in a way that Martial Artists would understand. For in the Martial Arts, there is no Martial Arts Master, Instructor, Teacher, or Coach that needs to prove that they lived, as their Marital Arts skills speak for themselves. Thus, to have to prove that someone even lived on this earth, (for Martial Artists,) disproves that they were a Martial Arts Master, Instructor, Teacher, or Coach. And this is what I was trying to communicate with my comment.

Training a mediocre martial artist to be better isn’t that big a deal, that’s why a good sensei

A scar on the thumb? I worked after school cleaning fish…I have scars all over my hands, but it doesn’t prove anything except I was young and working in near darkness.

Unless he has some sort of old grudge against him? At any rate, Frank has been rather inconsistent with his stories over the course of 30 years so I put my money on Sheldon being the honest person, here.
That's the real Sheldon.. he does comment on here, just like Don Wilson does.
What's so weird is that all this drama goes back to Count Dante and the dojo wars.
But, if the document says something about the SCAR, and DUX got the document prior then why is that quantifiable proof? It's not, he could have again purchased the same documents.

in the end yes, there was a senzo tanaka, like there was a tournament with martial artists... but again, was it like it was told in the movie?...
adam said something spot on nekroing the mysteries will help nobody at being a better man or martial artist, and credits to dux can not be suppressed fo what he has made for martial arts. but within the 80's and prior, i really think that facts were really enlarge to be bigger than life... and it made money. well done finding those files anyway and sharing it with vk and us. +1 to frank dux too because things become less foggy around him because of your actions!
There was no tournament.
No tournament ever took place where Dux said it did when he said it did.
So, no, it was not like it was in the movie.
Viking samurai please provide Adam McKinley youtube channel link
what was Tanakas birth and death dates and how old was dux during Tanaka life?
I am happy the Mandela Effect is something possible to "Viking Samurai" because I swear "Happy Gilmore" drove a Subway footlong into Jared's mouth & the show my mom watched was called "Sex in The City"? Speak your mind Viking Samurai, a man who speaks with courage and an open mind is a man who will learn more than most. In a world of sheep and wolves try to alway be the shepherd.
You should interview Victor moore
