I don't think Steven can be a good guy in real life,at least all the stories about him show evil stuff.
I heard he is now a puppet for Putin's war bullshit.
I never heard anything bad from Van Damme at all.

  • @mZaoa

Great stories. Love Steven; Love JCVD too. Always heroes to us.
They are two Alphas, neither willing to give up to the other. It's such a shame. Truth is, and I think everyone here would agree, that if they did get together, they would be inseparable.
    Maybe one day.

I have the same impression about Van Damme and Seagal, Jean Claude despite the tough guy roles he seems to be a normal person with whom you would like to go for a drink in a pub while Seagal would probably take you to a Buddhist temple to talk about philosophy. Nothing wrong either way.

@7 min....VD described this routine in "how VD trained for Last Mercenary" video on netflix channel. 45 min bike...45 min weight training...stretching...and then martial arts/karate/kickboxing 5-6 times a week. The frequency is 4-5 times a week when he's not prepping for a film. VD has said a few times that he trains 3 hrs a day....so the stretching and martial arts components make up 75-90 min of his 3 hr workouts. He also described something similar in a 2017 mens health article. Many have wondered why he's generally smaller nowadays. The answer is because he use to do more weight training and lifting for hypertrophy/mass back in the 2000s, 90s, 80s. He was doing 2-a-day weight training sessions a lot of days during those times according to an older training schedule published in the late 90s/early 2000s. In the 2010s, VD described stamina/cardio as his priority now. He may bulk up some for certain roles but greater stamina/cardio is his goal nowadays and it's evident in the description of his program which consists of cardio being done first and less weight training volume....thus a smaller but chiseled size.

If I could meet Van Damme (Seagal too), even if it's just to shake hands, then my life would be complete, LOL! Obviously that's an exaggeration, but you know what I mean - it would definitely be a childhood dream come true...

Thank you for part 2 of this interview. And yes, its a shame that both JCVD and Seagal don't see eye to eye. There is a lot of money left on the table because of their egos. If there is one thing I've learned from business is that I don't have to like my partner, but if there is money to be made, we put aside our personal differences so we can both eat.
I hope one day they can work together, even if its just as a business venture.

Great Episode, Nice interview. I wanted to add. Dan Mentioned the saw in the head scene from the Bruce Lee Movie the Big Boss. I seen it and my friend seen it too. In the 70s they had to cut scenes in movies because of censorship. When it was first released in Hong Kong it had those scenes. Also, they had shown it in the UK. Jason Hart wrote an article about the deleted scene. It is in the internet, if anyone is interested. Thanks for posting.

The man lived the gimmick, like a pro wrestler, and a lot of the audience skipped the magic trick because they were busy trying to figure out how he did it. The house I live in is worth 2, and I'm not even middle class. Also, 10 years huh? You mean the one that was over 20 years ago? Directly leading to two decades of him making lazy direct to video garbage because he has no clout in real Hollywood?
You know him being uncharismatic was part of the joke, right? He became a movie start so one exec could prove to another that anyone could be an action star, even a wooden statue like Seagal, because there will always be people like you willing to swallow garbage. Seagal is a joke with no self awareness. Anyone that doesn't realize that is dumb.

@@kurtshastany1945 There's a difference between "not being on top" and making a fool of yourself with terrible vanity projects like his terrible band. If he had simply faded away when his Hollywood career was over, it would be one thing. But the only thing he's accomplished since then is proving that he's a nut job with an undeserved and unchecked ego. Oh, that and proving he's the laziest damn actor/action star in the business. His self produced movies are hot garbage filled with stunt doubles for non action scenes, fight scenes where he literally doesn't get out of a chair the whole time, and ADR so bad you have to wonder why he refused to rerecord any of his own dialogue.
Not only is he no longer on top, he's made himself look bad enough to ruin any positive rep he would have had if he'd just retired.

Seagal used to run his mouth a lot offending fellow action movie stars, martial artists. I don’t think that’s the type of behavior you’d expect from a person that calls himself a martial artist.

I think he did it on purpose. Insulting the competiton was "his thing". He also acted in public like he have been in the movie. He stayed in character. I think Seagal is very clever and there was a reason why he badmouthed all those people.

Oh boy, this just makes me cringe.
Dear @VikingSamurai I really appreciate your exclusive channels content and all the insights we get on behind the scenes stories of our beloved movies.
But it's interviews like these, that actually piss me off - it just feels so fanboyishly naive!
Obviously the whole purpose of the interview was to shine a good light on controversial personas.
I totally believe how Dan perceived Steven Seagal personally. Most probably I would make the very same experience.
But what the hell does that prove? Everybody is nice as long as there is no opportunity or need to take advantage over somebody or something.
I also have no doubt that if I would happen to have dinner with Vladimir Putin he's probably going to show his charming side too, but that doesn't negate everything we know about this person.
I do believe every single every single word Dan says, but I also believe other stories told and documented.
I still enjoy most of the channel's content, but sometimes I just really miss a more grounded perspective.
