Love your videos... the way you are always cleaning and wiping everything thing you touch is the way it should be!! Every video i have watched i been very impressed.. keep them coming
Another great video! Funny how Carter will have this same pump assembly offered by many vendors. I have the same setup in the back of my 69 BMW (dual sidedraft carbs), but I added an enertia (accident) switch and relay.
I like to add fuel pump oil pressure cut off switch , so pump is not running with key on only when there is oil pressure. It's a a nice safety device .
Great clip and as always you describe what and why you’re doing something so well. I have one of these pumps ready to fit, and was planning on using it with the Kompressor Haus supercharger. But having just watched their latest clip they state how important it is to fit the pump in the engine bay on a bug? I’ve never known this to be the case, I don’t like the idea of placing a fuel pump in the engine compartment, and in nearly 40 years of being around air cooled I’ve always been an advocate of not even having a plastic style filter in the compartment. The Carter pump like you say is a ‘pusher’ that maintains good pressure so I can’t see why? I’d be interested to know your thoughts especially as you’ve fitted one if there’s, has the car had any fuelling issues or is it all good? In fairness I’ve yet to speak with them as I was hoping to bump into them at a UK show, plus it’s my winter project, so I’ll get around to it sometime,I was just curious on your thoughts. Phil
We already had the fuel system in place feeding the dual carbs we pulled off the engine. I too do not like the idea of a fuel pump in the engine compartment. I’m willing to stand behind my install. They may disagree though.
Did you see my install video too? Did exactly the same thing with the fittings and hoses! From the rear line installed a square style squareback style fuel filter. Uploaded it earlier of the week.
@ I understand making sure it doesn’t overflow the carb, but not sure what you mean that it doesn’t push past the needle seat. Are talking about the fuel gauge needle?
I've been using a cheap oscillating pump in my Beetle for 55,000 miles and I never understood why people say they have to be under the tank when the tank is actually on a level plane with the carburetor. I put mine on the side of the doghouse and have never had an issue.
@@the_Wagen When done properly an electric pump isn't any more dangerous than the factory mechanical pump. I'd dare says it's even safer. My pump is connected to a switch that shuts it off in the event of an accident. I've had one engine fire in the 40+ years I've been driving Beetles and that was before I ever knew there were electric pumps. Not everyone just puts their car together and forgets to periodically check things. I do visual inspections of my car almost on a daily basis.
For a safety addition, where and how would you wire an inertia switch with this? I'd like to know I'm not still pumping fuel in the event of an accident/rollover.

Another great video. Great attention to detail.
Thanks.
Love the content! You set the bar for attention to detail!
I appreciate that!
Solid work. I appreciate your attention to detail! Keep ‘em coming
Thanks, will do!
Great video I appreciate your attention to detail!
Another great video! I’m fairly new to classic VWs and this helps me know what’s available and what works. thanks again
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video's, great explanations of what you are doing....I'm hooked! 👍🏼
Nice sounding. ❤
Nice and clean. I think I’ll redo my set up soon.
I pick up power for the fuel pump off the brake light switch.
I used to do that. I prefer a clean power supply off a relay.
Love the vapor gua4d fittings .been using them at the shop daily
They are slick.
Nice information. 👍
Thanks
Very nice
Just ordered mine. 👍🏻
Nice work , i was running the Facet Posi flo pump with regulator but just ordered the Carter P90091 from US

Thanks for taking the time to reply, and I agree, pump at the front and I’ll see what(if) happens.
I appreciate the idiots warning.😂 “We’re working with gasoline here”
Great vid where are you guys located at?

@@the_Wagen ty - what is the name of your shop?

I did not my friend. This was filmed 3 weeks ago. Great minds think alike. 👍🏽
Nice job, very clean set up? I’m pretty new to air cools, just got a 64. Is this set up good for a stock 1600?
It will work on a stock engine. I’d verify that it doesn’t push past the needle seat and overflow the carb before fire up.
@ I understand making sure it doesn’t overflow the carb, but not sure what you mean that it doesn’t push past the needle seat. Are talking about the fuel gauge needle?
Make sure when the pump is on it’s not overflowing the float bowl and pouring gas into the engine.
The needle seat is what turns the fuel flow on and off of the carb.
@@the_Wagen oh oh, got it now. Thanks

It’s definitely not recommended to have your electric fuel pump in the engine bay.

Ground the relay off your oil
Light switch. Once the engine dies the pump will stop Running
What’s the part number for the black fuel filter ?
racing power company R9212BK
@@the_Wagen thanks that’s in Canada, worked out great !
all that expensive hardware and you use that cheapo plastic filter? I don't get it
