    Thank you for your videos. I passed my CNA test on the first try. Just finished my first week of nursing clinicals. You prepared me well. Radial pulse was my measurement skill I had. We have to wear latex gloves because of COVID. I was nervous, extra nervous because of this. I passed... Advice-Take your time. Recount to confirm count is very similar. Have confidence in yourself. Best wishes to all of you! Believe in yourself, and you can do this!

    Radial pulse is something i struggle with. My biggest problem is getting messed up when I feel faint pressures or pauses in the pulse. It'll mess up my counting. I'll
    lose the pulse count and once I feel the pressure again I'll start counting again, from (what I think) is an inaccurate number. Since, you can only be 4 beats off, I wouldn't want to over count or under count the pulse beats. Any tips on what can help me with counting what I feel and not what I think should come next? Also, can we use our fingertips (index and middle) to record the pulse, or would we just be feeling our own pulse? I find it easier to count the pulse by pressing with my fingertips, not the flat part of my fingers. Will the NAE fail me if they see me doing it this way? Also, do you have any tips when it comes to partners with weak pulses?

    • @NURSEJAR
      @NURSEJAR  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi, Blackberries12! I dropped another video this morning giving tips on how to help you accurately count the person's pulse. It should be available for viewing in about an hour.
      As far as using your fingertips to palpate the pulse, this is usually the norm and highly acceptable. You may position your fingertips in any manner that will help you better feel the person's pulse.

    • @NURSEJAR
      @NURSEJAR  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Alyssa! We encourage students to bring an analog watch with a second-hand to Testing just in case there is no clock. If using your watch, the NAE will be able to follow along with his or her watch, as you will tell the NAE when you will start and stop your count. Hope I answered your question!

    • @NURSEJAR
      @NURSEJAR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Nancy! All testing sites are required to have a clock with a second-hand. The clock will usually be mounted to the wall above the live-person's bed. But, it's always better to be safe and not sorry!!! Bring a watch with a second-hand just in case!

      Hi, Louis! You need only provide privacy for your bedside skills. However, I train my students to do so during their opening procedures and to leave the curtain maintained. This way, no matter what, privacy will be maintained throughout your skills exam and you will receive credit.

    Ms. Julie what time do you take the documenting sheet? Is it after the skill or once you get the supply? Or the RN will put it on the table?

    • @NURSEJAR
      @NURSEJAR  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Amore! Before you start your Skills Exam, the NAE will give you specific instructions. But, normally, the Recording Sheet will be placed somewhere accessible to you. The NAE will let you know.
