I upgraded my mk3s+ to a p1p. While the Prusa worked well. I spent too much time on tinkering rather than printing with my mk3s+. I used to spend so much time trying to adjust slicer settings just to save time. With the p1p i just print with standard profiles, Bambu filament or not. It all works. I find that this has become more of appliance especially since you can just print from the app. Just click print!

Right now im getting into 3D printing and ive been trying to decide which way to go. I want to support Prusa, but i cannot justify spending the amount of money when compared to what bambu is offering. Speaking of competition - 2024 is about to pop OFF! I love my X1C and I love that Creality, Frozen, and others are about to give the AMS a run for it's money. May the odds be ever in the favor of who values UX! I really hope Creality doesn't do what Bambu did, and makes their RFID opento consumers to use them for any filament. Imagine if Bambu were to open up read/write access on the AMS to write to an RFID tag for other brand filaments. OMFG

I think that Inclusion of heatsink is not entirely fair, since it's integral part of the print head, while bambus is just part of the nozzle. Not sure if A1 is apple to apple comparison - Prusa atleast has an option of enclosure, A1 does not and manufacturer discourages it's use due to cooling concerns. With the rest, I agree. I own an MK4 and the network experience is a bit.. meh. Due to limitations of the built-in hardware, the PrusaLink was extremely unreliable. Prusa connect is much better, although it also had a lot of issues until latest update - but then you get to cloud issue which is often held against Bambu. I also agree with integration with app and Slicer - I hate when it's the only option, but In this case, I also miss the convenience. A dedicated app would offload GUI from the printer, so it could help with PrusaLink and it wouldn't need to rely on outside servers for printer management. And it would allow for more seamless connection management as well. Management through the browser is nice backup solution, but it's also slow and laggy - and push notifications are not working even when test went fine! Anyway, I'm still unsure about bambus aggressive marketing.. I have a feeling that once they catch enough people into their ecosystem, they'll start with subscriptions to their cloud system - it wouldn't be the first time that sort of thing happened. Hopefully I'm wrong. The other factors are true as well - especially in terms of distribution, Prusa lacks extremely. They are not the small company anymore. I live 80km from their HQ, so it's not a factor for me, but If I had to go through the loops of importing it from outside the EU.. no thanks. The spool identification would be a nice thing, especially if they made it opensource And with identifiers applicable to generic brands. On the other hand, I like that they still sell the printer as kit - I enjoyed the process and it saved me a few buck. But it's also their biggest weakness, as production of completed printers is basically people completing kits. It's not designed for mass production. Anyway, it seems that Prusa as company is still doing well. The Mini is due for replacement, so now it's right opportunity to make a proper printer for the masses.

Regarding kits, yeah I actually like that, and that’s the tinkerer market being aimed at. Business users or consumers don’t care about that, and it’s actually a liability to them. Why pay more and then do more work, for less functionality?
I have actually bought mk4 even if I know bambu does it better. I simply don't want to buy Chinese product if I have a choice. So far, I have very good results but I have to admit bambu is like different generation of product. I hope Prusa will survive and we will not have future with only Chinese alternatives.
@@MarkRhodesMaker to be fair, it took me a while to find it as well and I knew about it. It's called Nextruder assembly, not MK4 or XL so the search doesn't show it. I think that they are going to keep the MK4 as the "tinkerer's choice", since they have AFS for large business and Mini's replacement will be the cheaper option for beginners and small bussines - if they are planning something like that - now with Nextruder and die cast parts, they are able to fix its biggest flaws and make it easier to produce in large quantities - that's not really possible with MK4 without complete redesign. And I don't think they can do a CoreXY that's cheap enough to compete with Bambu.
5:44, I've been 3D printing at work for over a decade, and I've tried to have my own at home... 3 times. I mirror this gal's sentiment, I tried again with a K1 and gave up after rooting the firmware and printing shims to get the build plate level and doing custom mods for the belt pulleys and all kinds of ridiculous now by comparison, 'mods' to make the thing just WORK. I returned it to Microcenter the last day of the return policy, and got an X1C. It. Is. FUN. It is fun. That is all I have to say about it. 3D Printing is fun for me now. I don't care about gatekeeping I've repaired hot ends older than some of these reprap fanboys have been alive - and I'm sick of it. I love this Bambu - it's printing a huge ED 209 in 8 colors for the past 2 days and every single piece is immaculate. I didn't have to do much other than color the parts in bambu studio. I'm doing Jonny 5 next.
Having been burned by closed systems where the only option to fix something was through the original manufacturer, I can't see myself investing in Bambu. When they change their terms of service or decide to charge more you will have no recourse.
It’s a reasonable comment, but it tends to indicate you aren’t in the audience I was aiming the video for. Closed systems are a plus here, they are liberating for people who don’t want to tinker 😊

I think that Prusa has invested so much time and effort in developing the science of 3D printing that they didn’t notice that the technology had developed to the next logical step. That step was the 3D printer as an appliance. Just like a clothes washer-anyone can use it. Like you, I don’t want to tinker with a printer. I want to make parts that I design. Engineers need to get out of the lab and talk to the people that use the products they design. mk3s+, bbl p1s, Qidi I-fast.
@krollmond7544 well, seems that non-fanboys of Prusa are noticing their lack of advancements and improvements. Just like Blackberry - they didn't think they needed to change with the times, and when they did, it was too late - Apple already won the market. Same will happen with Prusa. I do miss my Blackberry though!

I don't understand the 3D printing "purists" that are stuck in 2018. It's a tool that makes other tools. I don't want to constantly fix and fiddle with my tools to get them to work properly.
Dont forget the only time the AMS knows what filament it is is if you only use the official Bambulabs filament as thats the only type with the RFID chips.
Bambu has done more than a few shady software practices, “phone (China) home” software and Wi-Fi , not following open source license and many others makes me shy away from Bambu. And no, not a Prusa fan boy, don’t own a single Prusa.
To be honest, I couldn't care less about all the behind the scenes drama that goes on with all (not just bambu) these printer companies. I just wanted a printer that works reliably. Bambu has been that brand for me. Had bambu not been around, I'd definitely get a prusa though.

Prusa is more like Research In Motion (Blackberry). People are realizing its limitations and slow/no improvements and moving away
