I already own a Surface Pro i7 that supersedes the Surface Go. The Surface Pro is the perfect tablet/laptop hybrid. The Surface Laptop is decent but not powerful enough. I want a Surface skew that falls between the Surface Laptop and the Surface Book. That skew should be a 15" Surface laptop that offers a high-end cpu with a dedicated mid to high-end gpu with none of the extras and cost of the Surface Book (i.e.: non-detachable)

I agree with respect to the size. The only proper alternative that comes to my mind is the 12 inc latitude series from Dell. The refurb ones on eBay tend to come close.
Thinkpad x230, x240, x250, x260 and x270 are the best 12.5 inch devices and they have lot of ports. In fact I still use x230 to this day with windows 10.
I have the full 13.5 inch surface laptop 3, and I kinda wish I could have had this, but it does look like they've cut some corners. Plastic touchpad, no facial recognition, worse webcam, worse speakers, lower res display, etc. I want the size but I don't want the other compromises so it's maybe not for me. But damn if it isn't a good option for people, that 3:2 display is something I never want to go without in a laptop.

Can't see it myself, gain a 3:2 aspect ratio on a 12" laptop but sacrifice in so many other ways - I'll just stick with a 13" 'with better spec and just as much screen real-estate, better screen resolution, faster SSD's and USB-c charging for less, heck this is almost the same as Apple Macbook Air prices in similar spec's and base model XPS 13 prices here in Australia.
I'm pretty sure the second gen of this will be a bit better and more of a refinement. Imo usually best to wait for the second gen then going in on the first one.

@@bobandbobandbob6285 this guy on youtube gave false information! Its mentioned on the microsoft website that we can use the pen on the device!
Was hoping we'd finally get a 15 inch surface laptop pro with a high power processor. This isn't for me but it's cool.
I just received the Bydge keyboard for my Surface Go, and I think I'm going to stick with that. It's a little slower, but 1. I already have it, and 2. The bridge keyboard and the Signature Typecase that came with it have backlighting .
Not upgradeable? You can change the SSD any time, especially the EMMC.
Hey what laptop,
Microsoft surface laptop go or lenovo ideapad flex 5 ... waiting
This is the reason why I am still sticking to windows. Options.
Which color is this
I dont tink it should be ice blue, sandstone, or platinum
I believe I am the chosen one, the first to click on a piece of art

When is the new ARM macbook air coming..
End of year probably
@@MatthewMoniz thx
If it’s under 1k it completely invalidated this straight mid ass shit from Microsoft. The totl model should be $700 and the 2nd model should be $550
@@s7robe297 why man this a good lapy only..
Mad ?
What a shame... They say this is perfect for students, yet it doesn't support taking notes with a digital pen...
Dude then just buy a surface go. It’s cheaper yet it has a keyboard and a pen to write notes. If writing notes on a screen is more important then go for it. But if you want more power and a bigger screen then this laptop is pretty good
Is the MacBook 12 inch not a competitor? Or do people only buy new? Use the MacBook and only want the small form factor but feel this ain’t worth hitting new for me
Hey thanks for your review, is this a backlit keyboard?
What do you think about the top speced Laptop Go compare to base model macbook air? it's 100$ cheaper, how do they compared each other?
why didn't Microsoft go for AMD cpus?
hey completely unrelated to the video but i noticed you also wear your apple watch on your right hand. But i noticed your digital crown is faced inwards. You know you can flip the orientation of the watch so it’s easier to use the crown if it’s flipped outward?
Ya i know i just prefer it inwards. Im a weirdo!
How no competitors, what about Xiaomi Air 12.5? It's smaller, lighter, made full of metal and with full HD resolution, also cheaper. The CPU generation is older though and no touchscreen on Xiaomi. Could be interesting to compare them side by side.
Is this good for programming and coding locally
Please answer this
Do you think that the Surface Laptop Go is for an engineering student enough or should I get more performance?
Late but you need some 3D GPU and thermal headroom. Intel Xe doesn't cut it. Search for a ThinkPad. They're not as portable but are repairable and upgradeable, have good thermals and GPU.
Good evening. I have a problem with Surface go 2. It has worked well. My surface charger does't work. I do not know the reason. Then I charge it with Type-C cable. After that it works slowly again and again. It doesn't work properly. One day My surface turn off suddenly and it doesn't turn on. It is charging with New Charger . But it doesn't turn on . What I should do in order to turn it on? Please help me!
I checked the PPI is 149, that's the lowest I've ever seen... even Surface Go has 220, which is quite basic... How is the screen? can you read small letters? I do want 12 inch. don't want 16:9 13inch
I agree with respect to the size. The only proper alternative that comes to my mind is the 12 inc latitude series from Dell. The refurb ones on eBay tend to come close.
Costco Canada has this for $400. Best deal available?
Hey matt, would you like to check out the galaxy book flex alpha. Seems like a very compelling deal to me...
Thinkpad x230, x240, x250, x260 and x270 are the best 12.5 inch devices and they have lot of ports. In fact I still use x230 to this day with windows 10.
so ssd is not upgradeable/salvageable in future?
It appears that Microsoft took some design cues from the Google Chromebook Pixel, both the original and second iteration.
Can I buy this machine for programming?
i actually saw at store good spec with i5 ram 16 and 256storage plus i need sensor screen but i wonder as for classical type laptop how good is for gaming
Can I use a mouse an an option and a hub to project on a larger monitor?
hey relly liked the review!! have been waiting for one for dayss. Do you think I can use the go on a 34 inch monitor? want to youse it for my Accounting college in amsterdam. Thank you!!!
Is it okay for multimedia students?
I'm pretty sure the second gen of this will be a bit better and more of a refinement. Imo usually best to wait for the second gen then going in on the first one.
I just wanted to know if I could draw with it.
How many gigs does the OS take up and how much disk space is left?
It’s 12 inch what is it for? Web browsing
Can somone explain to me why should I prefer a touch display on a non-convertable laptop which can't even be used with a pen? Isn't a matte screen waaaay better for on-the-go use?
But where’s the backlit keyboard 😭?! I work in low light all the time!
Does it not support charging via USB-C??? some TH-camrs say it does?
Hey Matthew.... How do you think this compares to the Surface Go? We've picked up two in our family, and we've been very happy with their performance... Should we expect more or less from the Surface Laptop Go?
Very good review. Short, information packed. Keep it up!
I think I now know why this surface is so special.
(A surface you should not touch)
(A surface you can't surface)
(A surface that's lava without crysis)
But most importantly
*A 12" SURFACE on witch you can only boil eggs*
