It's also not like this is in any possible way a practical PC build. I think the case may actually have been one of the cheapest components despite it being a ridiculously expensive case (with that big of a curved glass piece, I suspect The manufacturing and shipping cost is probably around $150 to $200)
@AshLordCurry that's nowadays, in the past nice cases were a lot more expensive. My point was more about the bent glass which is a very expensive process. But bending it one way is still a lot cheaper than 3d bending it. A 3d bend would place this directly into 4 figures
@rafaelsoares7121 granted, I know the process of glass bending more from a window side. I guess bending multi layer window glass will be a lot more expensive than a single relatively small sheet
11:25 Can we talk about how insane monitors have become in the last five years? The jump in picture quality to price made it that monitors have become a genuine bottleneck, like oh I need to swap out My 4090 so that I can fully enjoy my 360hz of OLED heaven and I can't blame you if you said that
isn't the VRR flicker dogshit right now? Also I heard that the HDR brightness is not up to the level (that you see on MiniLED or LCD counterparts)? Also, monitors/hardware unboxed (along with other reviewers) reported burn in after heavy productivity use. The low response time, insane contrast and great colors make it a very attractive option though...
I used to really like MSI, but my recent experience with the B650 motherboard has been frustrating. I upgraded from my 5700X3D setup to a 7800X3D using the MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk, and my Sparkle A580 refused to boot into Windows, black-screened in the BIOS, and had consistent issues. My A770 also had problems-it made strange noises and wouldn’t work properly when I had 3 NVMe drives installed. However, my A750 (same AsRock Challenger model) worked fine with all 3 SSDs. I updated the BIOS, tried at least 20 different BIOS settings, reinstalled Windows, and tried every troubleshooting step I could think of, but nothing worked. Strangely, all these GPUs worked perfectly on my old B450 motherboard. When I reached out to MSI, they initially responded with basic troubleshooting steps like CMOS resets and ReBAR adjustments, which I had already tried. After that, they stopped responding altogether, and it’s been over a week with no follow-up. In the end, the solution was to switch to an ASRock X870 Pro RS motherboard-everything worked flawlessly after that. Disappointing experience with MSI overall.
@@trapical You'd need 2 of those mobos though, one in each system. (or at least 2 of those M.2 expander cards, not sure how much those are by themselves). Otherwise just use a NAS with a 10 gig ethernet LAN. Then you don't have to unplug something from the back of your system. (Not to mention, they are currently not hot-swappable). You really don't need to put an m.2 SSD into another system for transferring a file unless you're transferring 100+ GB files regularly. A 10 (or even 5 or 1 gig) ethernet connection will be more than adequate.
Merry Christmas LTT and especially Linus...you have made this year soo bearable with everything that has happened. To more and more winnings year after year👏👏🙌
Linus, I know you're a big fan of privacy just like most of us on your channel are. I would like to know what you think about this. ps. wasn't really sure where else to post this for you to see
Don't buy msi i bought their motherboard b450 it got some bd prochot issue in 1.5 years and was completely unusable. Cpu stuck to 0.5 ghz. There was no way to fix it, 3 years warranty i gave it to msi service center multiple times untill it was out of warranty.
That is cool. The first time I bought an MSI motherboard (current system), I got the MSI MEG Z490 UNIFY and it has a BIOS reset and a debug code LED (good for CPU temps!) and now I don't think I can live without these two features ever again...
I got that GPU to be able to fit maximum performance into a ITX build. At the time it was less than $1900. Supply/timing greatly impacts your value here.
💯Supply/timing. All about knowing where and when to look. I got mine last fall for $1750 from Lenovo. At the time MSI also had some available for $1900. Figured 5090 will be unobtanium and it was the best time since launch to hunt for a 4090. $2800 for it is absolutely absurd and what is wrong with the industry right now... One thing I cant wait for, is these pos scalpers getting stuck with inventory and having to sell at or below msrp to move the cards😆
Oh yeah. To be fair though, if you removed every component from a brand that has been in a controversy in the last 7 years the only thing left would be a seasonic psu lol.

Hey Linus why didn't you make a video about Honey when you found out about they're scummy way of operating? I'm sure other content creators would have loved to have found out.

@ Gamer’s Nexus named one of their cases as the worst case they’ve ever tested for thermals a couple of years ago. MSI never responded, then quietly removed the case from stores. Most people were fine with it since they removed them from stores.. but then they started popping up on their website whenever they had a sale. Idk about the most recent BF, but the last two Black Fridays, they were peddling these fire hazards as: “On sale for $99, regularly $299!” My wife bought me one the first year, and we stumbled across the video after the fact. They let us return it, but it just rubbed me the wrong way that they knew it was an unsafe design, and decided to take advantage of unassuming sales shoppers during Christmas, in a quiet manner. They knew they were doing something extremely scummy, that would potentially cause harm to unassuming customers, and they chose greed anyway. I used to ONLY buy MSI, now I alternate between ASRock and Asus. I wouldn’t stay with a woman that tried to burn my house down. So, why would I stay with a company that did? Especially when there aren’t any .. Ahem .. “biological benefits” involved. 😂

To be fair, 400$ is a lot cheaper than I expected when I heard curved glass panel.
It's also not like this is in any possible way a practical PC build. I think the case may actually have been one of the cheapest components despite it being a ridiculously expensive case (with that big of a curved glass piece, I suspect The manufacturing and shipping cost is probably around $150 to $200)
A good case is usually $100 or less, 400 is a lot 😭
@AshLordCurry that's nowadays, in the past nice cases were a lot more expensive. My point was more about the bent glass which is a very expensive process. But bending it one way is still a lot cheaper than 3d bending it. A 3d bend would place this directly into 4 figures
Get a montech King 95 pro for 1/3 of the price
@rafaelsoares7121 granted, I know the process of glass bending more from a window side. I guess bending multi layer window glass will be a lot more expensive than a single relatively small sheet
I gotta say, content aside, Linus and Elijah's chemistry is SO fun to watch. Both have great personalities and riff really well off of each other
11:25 Can we talk about how insane monitors have become in the last five years? The jump in picture quality to price made it that monitors have become a genuine bottleneck, like oh I need to swap out My 4090 so that I can fully enjoy my 360hz of OLED heaven and I can't blame you if you said that
to be fair im running that exact monitor with a mid-range gaming pc simply because oled just looks so good, very much worth it
As long as the monitor has Freesync/G-sync you shouldn't necessarily be having a "worse" experience but yeah the jump in monitor tech is amazing
isn't the VRR flicker dogshit right now? Also I heard that the HDR brightness is not up to the level (that you see on MiniLED or LCD counterparts)? Also, monitors/hardware unboxed (along with other reviewers) reported burn in after heavy productivity use.
The low response time, insane contrast and great colors make it a very attractive option though...
@@tcc1234 Burn in really isn't a factor for the majority of users. You have to be quite a power user to get that on modern oleds
I'm curious why they went for XMP RAM instead of EXPO ram. I don't see any white 2x48GB Corsair Dominator Titanium with EXPO support, only the grey.
The way you can actually see how smooth the monitor is even on the video...damn that's nice
They ACTUALLY did it. m.2 thumb drives... I have been waiting for this!
They do make them in a USB form factor, to be fair. Just good luck on the speeds.
@@AceMcCrank Thats the thing though, the fact that it's actually m.2 is amazing

WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THE CUTE LUCKY HAND PUPPET

What could possibly make that Mobo worth paying over $1000 for... 2:22... oh, yeah, that'll about do it! TAKE MY MONEY!
Unbelievably useful if you use multiple systems and need to transfer products files, etc
@@trapicalalso useful in servers as well
@@trapical You'd need 2 of those mobos though, one in each system.
It'll eventually trickle down to budget boards
Y'all are thinking way too practically... I was just going to be swapping my Steam Library from one slot to the other just because it's cool!

MSI been good for me.
Shoutout to the time some bored engineer wrote me a custom bios for an AMD FX-6300 based CPU because I was running it at 5.0Ghz until it exploded.

Don't buy msi i bought their motherboard b450 it got some bd prochot issue in 1.5 years and was completely unusable. Cpu stuck to 0.5 ghz. There was no way to fix it, 3 years warranty i gave it to msi service center multiple times untill it was out of warranty.
In the outro Linus refers to MSI's rgb software as "MSI mystic spark rgb" but it's actually just "MSI Mystic light" 15:49

Hey Linus why didn't you make a video about Honey when you found out about they're scummy way of operating? I'm sure other content creators would have loved to have found out.
Probably because they had signed agreements and don’t want to disparage sponsors when they’re in the game of getting sponsors. Creators losing affiliate revenue is whatever. The only unforgivable part is when honey *doesn’t* use the best coupon code, blatant false advertising.

The MSI Dragon is actually an unironic representation of their hardware / case designs. You know, because dragons are a fire hazard..
did i miss something? Gigabyte and NZXT had fire hazards. I havn`t heard about one from MSI.
Idk about the most recent BF, but the last two Black Fridays, they were peddling these fire hazards as:
“On sale for $99, regularly $299!”
My wife bought me one the first year, and we stumbled across the video after the fact.
Since when have MSI products been a fire hazard?
I typed a 3 paragraph reply and TH-cam deleted it.
TH-cam recently started auto-deleting comments, seemingly when it believes you’re verbally attacking someone, and apparently you don’t even have to use foul language to trigger it.
I’ll try to re-type it differently, when I have time, later today.
@@InfamousInternetVillainJackSix all you need to type out is a name of a product that was a fire hazard. You don't need three paragraphs to convey that information
For a quite well endowed system, it seems you went with all stock settings? It would've likely performed much better with bios cpu voltage curve tuning and memory adjustments. It doesn't appear any of that was done. Maybe another video on the same setup with some tuning to see the differences please ? I'm specifically interested in the MSI mobo tuning setup since I have the little brother to this with very similar UEFI/bios.
I know it’s dumb, but the dragon is the main reason I have never considered MSI. I felt it looks like a cheap tattoo design.
