JoJo has been growing up as an adult. She started with rainbows and unicorns, like elementary and middle school kids and now she's entering her rebellious teen stage.
If she's been in the spotlight since 9, then her behavior now makes sense, because she was a kid in an adult world, and never actually had a childhood.
I feel bad for people like her, because they never had a chance to experience growing up with peers. They are stunted in so many ways.
Her time on Special Forces was unironically the safest she had been.

Her "rebrand" is a badly manufactured distraction of all the abuse she did to those kids on that show. She literally recreated Dance Mums and continued the cycle of abuse.
Do I think she's a victim of abuse & probs of the predators she's friends with? Yes.

I have a lot of grace for JoJo given how she was raised. She is unfortunately projecting out a lot of the things that were done to her on Dance Moms, and is also dealing with her delayed identity crisis, because she was not allowed to be a kid at the age she should have been. I would have fought tooth and nail on spanking being an acceptable form of punishment for children, because I turned out fine (spoiler alert: I did NOT turn out fine) up until I was 20 and really started to reassess aspects of my childhood.
My parents weren't as bad as other parents, so I struggled with the idea of X being just as bad as XYZ in the long term.

Im happy cause I never listened to anything about JoJo, I never even knew what her voice sounded like, but since the song drama, I discovered Brit Smith and been streaming Brit's version regularly since yesterday (when I learned about all this) and I'm loving the 2010s sounds all over again in 2024.

Exactly she was maturing with her audience. Soft glam makeup line, preteen-teen trendy clothes, and truthfully a dance studio would have been great. Training young dancers who want to break into the industry. There was a better way of doing this, this is just cringe.

It’s hard to feel bad for her when she and her mother potentially victimized other girls and when she defends child abusers.
@@Werileyz I think it makes it harder to NOT feel bad for her. Shows how damaged she really is that she thinks it's okay. She needs a lot of therapy and someone to guide her on correct morals.

I live with PTSD and have done shitty things too, but truly, if all of those allegations are true, I feel incredibly disgusted by her. She’s old enough, and had been old enough, to know better. I don’t think she’s irredeemable or anything, but when people do shitty things to children my thoughts don’t usually go to empathizing with them more just because they went through shit. I think some people are tearing her down for the wrong reasons (just because they are hateful), but it’s very understandable for people to dislike her when she allegedly exploited and abused a kid and defended people like Colleen.
I think we can do both.
We can feel sympathy for what she's gone through, and feel mad at her and recognize the disgusting things she's done

The worst part about this is the fact this was bound to happen, i mean she was in dance moms, was friends with Colleen, started her carrier extremely young and treats Abby like a friend despite the fact she was abused by her. Jojo needs literal therapy from the amount of massive issues she has from growing up with people who have mistreated her and being friends with people who were extremely awful, It's genuinely sad to see spiral down like this.
She was on podcast saying she doesn’t want to go to therapy cuz (either she knows someone who therapist linked they private session or she knows know someone who knows some else that got their session linked), I think it was Megan trainer podcast, she’s says she doesn’t want to go therapy but then mentions she really really want kids and the other guess or host tells her before she has kids, go to therapy. Hope she does especially after her own dance group thing and how she *allegedly treated those young girls

I was counting down the days until a story like Leah’s broke SOLELY because I know the abuse in dance mom’s is normal professional dance sphere behavior and JoJo is bound to repeat it. It’s heartbreaking but so predictable when you put a kid in that environment and then let them grow up without the slightest bit of a detox from that culture.

I have spina bifida. Spinal surgeries are *excruciating.* Strenuous activity when you’re not fully recovered can cause a lot of damage. Leigha is incredibly lucky that the abuse she suffered didn’t wreck her mobility to the point of leaving her unable to dance. She deserved so much better.

Idk if there was a port there, I'm not sure how else she would have bled without some kind of opening to begin with, it's still heavily fucked up that they didn't even ask if SHE WAS OKAY. I had an exploded disc in my spine repaired and even that surgery was awful. I can't imagine the pain of having operable spina bifida repaired. It took me MONTHS of recovery just to be able to walk around my house, and weeks just to be able to get out of bed without the pain making me see stars. Making a little child DANCE after a few weeks of recovery? Sinister. Absolutely sinister.

The internet is a double edged sword- while yes- it still can help create a worse output- but it also can hold accountability to those creating the damage. It still doesn't change the fact that ultimately people themselves are responsible for such damage and abuse taking place, horrible people like this are really the problem in the first place no matter what the setting is or if there's perhaps less restrictions or not.
In a world that feels so divided where it feels like everyone is constantly fighting each other, I find solace in the fact that we can all unite in our disdain for Jojo's rebrand
