As a former camp counselor I cannot imagine being friends with children. You can play and have fun with them absolutely- but you are an adult you have a responsibility and a duty to keep them safe. There’s a level of power you have over them that disallows any sort of friendship to exist honestly. You can be a mentor, a confidant someone they trust and have faith in.

Being autistic, I often have trouble telling when *I'm* the butt of the joke, and her series "Haters Back Off" is a perfect example of that. As a kid and even until a few years ago I loved and related to that show and it stuck with me that a character could be like me, and now knowing how awful a character she was and that she was making fun of autism has been an awful wake up call.
Finding out that the creator of a thing you like actually hates people like you and created the work to mock them feels awful. I watched the reaction of a therapist on her video, where she essentially pointed out all the manipulation tactics Colleen pulled during that song. A commentor on that therapist's channel also gave a very probable hypothesis of why her non-apology apology is the way it is. She was proven to have groomed minors, there is nothing she can say or do that will bring any adult on her side. That's why she doesn't even try. The video is aimed at the children in her audiance. The singing, the ukulele, the poorly disguised anger and resentment, the victimisation, the use of strong expressions such as "I won't survive the crash", all of that was deliberately chosen in hope to have children who don't fully understand what's going on to side with her, and even to stop listening to the warnings that adults may give them about strangers on the internet. Essentially, this video's only purpose is to ensure she can keep grooming children. And to pull a last attempt at guilt-tripping those she groomed who have come forward about it.
Imagine you get emotionally abused by a grown ass adult, then when you finally get the courage to open up and speak out, YOU'RE the one who gets all the death threats and then the person who abused you "apologizes" by making a dumb song on a ukulele and downplaying everything by calling it gossip. Being autistic, I often have trouble telling when *I'm* the butt of the joke, and her series "Haters Back Off" is a perfect example of that. As a kid and even until a few years ago I loved and related to that show and it stuck with me that a character could be like me, and now knowing how awful a character she was and that she was making fun of autism has been an awful wake up call.
Finding out that the creator of a thing you like actually hates people like you and created the work to mock them feels awful. That's something I can understand, though probably not in the same way you do. I'm trans, so I've seen a lot of media that calls people like me horrible things. It's never a good feeling, and I'm sorry that it's happened to you over and over again (which is what it sounds like from your comment).

So, I'm a victim of CSA and, trying not to get myself triggered, I wanted to at least comment here and say: I hope every groomer comes out and plays a ukulele and puts themselves in the public eye as much as humanly possible. I watched the reaction of a therapist on her video, where she essentially pointed out all the manipulation tactics Colleen pulled during that song. A commentor on that therapist's channel also gave a very probable hypothesis of why her non-apology apology is the way it is. She was proven to have groomed minors, there is nothing she can say or do that will bring any adult on her side. That's why she doesn't even try. The video is aimed at the children in her audiance. The singing, the ukulele, the poorly disguised anger and resentment, the victimisation, the use of strong expressions such as "I won't survive the crash", all of that was deliberately chosen in hope to have children who don't fully understand what's going on to side with her, and even to stop listening to the warnings that adults may give them about strangers on the internet.
Essentially, this video's only purpose is to ensure she can keep grooming children. And to pull a last attempt at guilt-tripping those she groomed who have come forward about it.
That is absolutely terrifying and most likely true.

It’s actually heartbreaking and terrifying to think that 3 years ago the internet just collectively shit on Adam, dismissed him, gaslighted him and ignoring his very concerning experience with Colleen and being a minor at the time to boot.
Not only did this probably hurt Adam but probably other people who were groomed and abused by Colleen and felt like they now couldn’t speak up because of what Adam went through after doing so.
I’m glad that now 3 years later, they’re getting the support they need. But it’s sad to think that the victims could have had their justice 3 years earlier if the majority of the internet didn’t decide to publicly support a 30 year old groomer over a scared 17 year old kid…a child.
