I am a song writer and have been 😉from 1989 to present and my writing reflect the style of the 70’s era with telling a story. Song writers of the 1970s -1980s and parts of 1990’s told stories in their music. The problem with song writers today is the lack the ability to connect their songs with today’s reality. Today songs seem to be more about sex rather than what leads to intimacy, the feeling and joy of love and the pain that comes with it. There is no doubt song writers of the 1970’s were the best song writers.
He studied cattle ranching while touring with Bread and purchased a 1400-acre ranch in Mount Vernon, Washington financed by royalties he earned during his time with the band. He and his wife Jo Rita are enjoying retirement and live on that ranch, as it should be!
Few people know this, but David Gates plays the violins and violas on most of the bread recordings. He is an accomplished string player. Amazing man. James Griffin also a great guitarist/singer/songwriter. Bread was a "two frontmen" band. RIP, Jimmy!

I remember the first time I heard "If" on the radio. That was back in 1971. Wow! 51 years ago. I'm lucky to have grown up listening to this music. I'd like to recommend two songs that I really like: "Each And Everyone" by Everything But The Girl and "Fool Me Once" by Lindsey Webster.

I started following her when she had 13,000 followers on TH-cam where she does covers that are usually better than the originals.. Now she has 1.5 million & is started blowing up a couple of years ago.. "SKYWARD is one of her first songs/videos. I think you will love her earlier covers because she did great older songs...
