@@Alex-rn3br I will always see CCR as our Beatles, but honestly knowing the Jayhawks they might agree with that. I do think they were the Beatles of Alt Country.
This band has that certain something. It's hard to explain. Great writing, unusual but spot-on harmonies, great guitar sound. Beatle-ish in a modern American way.
The yearning for the love that could have and should have been is so bittersweet. Despite having a son, they just can’t make it. The melodies and the lyrics combine for the most beautiful love lost song I’ve ever heard. The video is so different than the song but as a Midwesterner, it resonates as a beautiful breeding ground for attractions, swimming, drinking, laughing, falling in love.. joyous video, intense, lovely song.
I was only introduced to the jayhawks from that show "people of earth" I was missing out & my hubby loves them.. saw them at amplify Decatur a few years ago.. truly a great live band too
I stopped listening to music radio stations about 25 years ago. I had never heard of the Jayhawks until purchasing the new Ray Davies CD, "Americana", which is a great CD. The Jayhawks are the backing band. Check it out!
I've been meaning to get that CD .. Jayhawks fan for years ... and of course Ray Davies is an elder statesman of rock n' roll, no self-respecting music fan would be unfamiliar with his work :) I'm off to Amazon to purchase the CD proper ... Cheers ! :-D
The Minneapolis Music Scene never got the recognition it should have. I grew up in the 80's in Minneapolis. There will never be another time, and another place, like 1980's Minneapolis. It was far better than Seattle in so many ways.
One of the most underrated American bands of the last 25 years. They really don’t write bad music - all memorable songs.
I agree, but the thing is they never wanted to be some huge popular band which is commendable, but sad for people like us that know they deserve more.
@@ashleymonday298 not sure if you're American or not...but I am...and I always thought of them as our Beatles.

agreed!
Minnesota Beatles thou........
the most under appreciated and underrated band of the 90's. absolutely one of my top "go to " bands when i need to lose myself in the music.
a big part of 1994/95 for me
i love those melodies and riffs
great tunes for traveling
This album is a masterpiece, timeless

Two voices dipped in honey . Loved that band
More like Crowded House than the Beatles. Not that I care. These people are fine.
Everly brothers-ish@@BlueBeeMCMLXI
I heard this in 96. Camping in the Adirondacks. Running away was still a viable option.

Great song, and this video really captures summer in Minnesota. This album was a big part of the soundtrack of my 20's.
What a great band...unbelievable harmonies
So minnesota........I'm sad how fast life goes. Watching gary and mark from 25 years ago......
I've been searching for this song for years...so glad to have found it again.
Can still listen and name every track, this album is timeless
Seriously underrated band who should be right up there with the best of them. From a cracking album too.
One of my favorite harmony duos!
Loved loved this wonderful band tonight at Bearsville Theater Woodstock NY ❤❤ 10-24
I’m always surprised at how low the views and comments are on this bands videos on here. They are so underrated
I purchased this album years ago and fell in love with its soaring melodies, great guitar riffs and vocal!
cant believe this was already 23 years ago. i can believe its still such a good song and a good band though
I've loved everything they've done!
Sounds like my life...........still a great song.
Greetz from the Netherlands
echt he
Great band... great video...thanks for the memories guys...I just wish that they would come to South Carolina...
Best band, best friends. Amazing music.
I was only introduced to the jayhawks from that show "people of earth"

Wxpn FM Phila played a lot of Jayhawks back in the 90's. Loved them then and still do.
Swim, sauna, wine, dinner, and a poker game with friends. This is literally a video of the happiest moments of my life.
AND DOGS!!!!!
The best band from Minnesota in my opinion.
....and the Gear Daddies.
And The Replacements? Prince? Low?

Thanks! This is a nice song. Nice, easy, and has a really good feel to it!

Great classic tune!!!!❤️!
Meno famosa di quel che meriterebbe ma bellissima!
My childhood
I love the song and the video !!!!

I heard this song this morning on 93 wxrt radio Chicago 💜
I did too. (heart)
that dog is so cool!
How many ways?
Respect for the this great band
last night November 3rd st. Andrew's Hall Detroit Michigan so was outrageously good very good time
Amen
Fantastic
This brings me back to the Safari days. Right Jo?
un grupo con una extraña capacidad para crear obras maestras que nadie parece entender
❤❤❤❤❤

0:17 Todd Rundgren Called.
He was some song writing credit.
Nice
Where are their safety flotation devices?!
Look at all the bugs flying around under the lights at the meal - you know it's Minnesota!
Are they especially filthy there? That would explain a lot
@@docsavage8640, they aren't flies, dumbass. Insects are a sign of a healthful environment.
A caption for this video could be titled, “Life before the internet & smart phones.”
So life was just like the Jayhawks having a day at the lake and singing "I'd Run Away"?
ahhhhh mes 17 ans! ;-)
This video is so Minnesotan
Deysi Rae I had the same thought when I saw them in the sauna
Peter H EXACTLY! Reminds me of my younger years in the northwoods at a friend's cabin, complete with a sauna! 😂
Also the best music video they made. Goes perfectly with the melody.
I always thought the only downside to this song is that the Beatleesque solo is mixed too low
All the best videos cost a couple hundred dollars to make.
The best band from Minnesota in my opinion.
Tho i LOVE The Jayhawks, the best band from Minnesota are still Husker Du
Perica Šutić the replacements say hello 😉 (honestly, all three are tops!)
Holly trinity 😁
Some great bands man. Husker Du, Replacements, Soul Asylum and uh...Prince. All bands with exceptional bodies of work.
@@ashleymonday298 if Prince counts as a band then the correct answer is Bob Dylan
