    Definitely loving the videos. Also with the KV settings, can you do a video explaining how long you let the part gel out, flow out, or partial cure if you’re doing a 2, 3, or 4 stage coating. Thanks!

      Nicole Compiani i was about to write a comment like that 👍🏼 i have pretty much the same questions. Also maybe a video about avoiding Back ionization. Been having problems with that on wheels especially at the ent shooting the outer barrel... thanks in advance

    How long do you out gas wheels, valve covers, calipers?

    • @UnknownCoatings
      @UnknownCoatings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      lots of factors involved. Cast OEM type calipers I outgas for a long time, cause they tend to bleed out a LOT. But higher end calipers like Brembos, or most after market ones i do far less. Valve covers depends on brand more than anything, and then type of casting. Magnesium stuff also gets out-gassed much longer. So BMW, Mercedes, Evo, and a few others.
      Wheels are all about an hour.

  • @NgodRules
    @NgodRules 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey man, sorry for the dumb question but why did you put screw in some river holes but left others exposed? And if you can do a video about cure/partial cure times / kV settings when it comes to multiple coats it would be much appreciated!

    • @UnknownCoatings
      @UnknownCoatings  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These wheels use a standard american 40 bolt lip/barrel but only some of the bolts are threaded. I plug the threaded ones.
      I will be doing a video about partial cures and kv settings shortly since lots of people are asking that one

    When doing 3 piece wheels do you mask the surfaces that bolt together and get sealed? I’m about to do a set but can’t find much info on masking that surface or not . I feel like masking it could show bare spots if masking isn’t done perfect after assembled

    • @UnknownCoatings
      @UnknownCoatings  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i dont because leaving blasted metal exposed near the sealing area is a no no

  • @fasteddiedude
    @fasteddiedude 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you wipe them down with acetone or denatured alcohol or anything after you outgas / tape them ?

    • @UnknownCoatings
      @UnknownCoatings  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I outgas and blast again> the media I use is great and doesnt leave that annoying sticky dust that some media does. If you pour water down a blasted wheel there is no lines or dirt or build up at all

  • @mickeyolivarez9254
    @mickeyolivarez9254 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What type of hook do you use to hang wheels for powder coating

    • @UnknownCoatings

      Check Episode 23, my equipment video, I go over it there.

  • @dieselwilson9767
    @dieselwilson9767 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So speaking of corrosion... I've noticed you don't put anything on the taped areas are you not worried about corrosion on those areas cause it's a mounted surface and shouldn't be exposed to anything anyway?

    • @UnknownCoatings
      @UnknownCoatings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i rarely powder coat mounting pads. Although I have never seen any evidence at all to support the claims that its "dangerous"to put powder on them, I choose not to. As far as the bore flange I taped, it needs to be a specific clearance to mount to the lip/barrel assembly. Id much rather have the parts fit the way they need, and deal with the little bit of corrosion that could happen there.
