I won't call you a weeaboo as the Japanese soundtrack is much more fast paced, frantic, and upbeat. Plus we got the badass metal sonic theme from there.
Man, I was so hyped for this episode. And I think people really love Metal because of how he looks and the whole idea of him. He is a robotic Sonic. As a kid when I saw him in Heroes, I instantly fell in love. Also, I find it funny how none of the special stages have been "classified as fun" yet. I hated that last level too. Those crush deaths were the bane of my existence when I first played Sonic CD.
Haedox Oh vey. Metallic Madness is a cruel mistress. Watch the last few episodes of the GM playthrough to see how I learned just how much I truly hated that level.
sebash789 No scrap brain is smaller, easier and less frustrating. Only the 3rd act is not as cool (the one that looks like labyrinth zone) but actually the level design is incredibly funny: you can skip almost half of the stage twice (yes, that means almost the entire act), actually the end of the act is just next to the beginning! So i usually do it in ~ 30s. It's not a hidden passage really hard to find, i used to take it as a kid.
It is the weakest zone in the game in my opinion since it tries to combine the bottom slow part and top fast parts of starlight zone. I still like the zone, it is just all over the place
Pobccc I like it because in some sonic games I actually slowed down instead of going fast because I always thought I would get hit, in stardust speedway, you can go fast but not get hit too much
This is my favorite game of all time and you gave this a fair and honest review. Thank you very much. I really enjoy your ROR series. Very well thought out and professionally done.
I love metallic madness zone. It is a scrap brain clone, yeah but I love how each zone has its own different background like scrap brain zone and the music( especially in the bad future) is so badass
There's actually an extra clip after the credits depending on the ending... if you get a good ending, the pixie dust sprouts flowers as if the planet said thank you... if you get the bad ending, little planet is forced to return and become imprisoned again, like if it's making it all come back around
" (bottomless pits) And you know how much I like THOSE in my 2D Sonic! " I'd absolutely love to see you review Sonic Rush. I agree completely with this review, except for the boss fights, I kind of find them frustrating and dragged out. Especially the boss of Tidal Tempest and the boss of Quartz Quadrant, which take too long, and the boss of Wacky Workbench that crushes you on the ceiling before you can deal the final hit by suddenly changing the rules. I really like the game, it's just that I don't like the boss fights, as unique as they are, and the level design can range from fun but messy to enraging.
It's amazing how, unlike the 2013 remake of Sonic 1 and 2, the 2011 remake of Sonic CD was also released on home consoles. The Nintendo Switch still has yet to receive a release of Sonic CD. That is, until Sonic Origins has been announced for its 2022 release.
And the funniest thing of all this, is that *Sonic 1, 2, 3, "Sonic & Knuckles", "Sonic CD", "Sonic Adventure" 1 and 2,* are all available on the *Xbox 360* as well.
Quick correction... Little Planet simply blasts off in a spiral pattern in the good ending. It doesn't explode and actually comes back in Sonic 4 Episode II.
Just rewatching some old vids... and gotta say... I always loved how you said *"DOCTOR IVO 'EGGMAN' ROBOTNIK"* showing that respect for both sides of the fan base by using both of that mad scientist's names.
I think this game's special stages are borderline unplayable. Sonic controls like ass, there's water everywhere and the UFOs are sometimes unnecesesarily hard to hit. And then there's the time limit...
ShakeFan14 I'm beginning to notice that that's a common trend. The better the game the worse the special stages are. At least they give you Super forms in the latter genesis/mega drive games.
Alex Here's a little tip(for the remake only), if you're close to running out of time then pause and exit to the menu, when you reload your save file you'll begin on the special stage. I used this to practice but I still hate it with a passion ,those damn UFO's keep swerving all over the place. Even with that being said,I still find Sonic CD's special stages more tolerable than the the ones found in Sonic 1 & 2's, I just wish you were given a decent reward for collecting the time stones other than a better ending, maybe a super transformation calle Kronos Sonic.
I heard that different soundtracks were released for the game due to localization issues. I guess they decided that having a more "action oriented" soundtrack would've been better for the north american release than keeping the JP soundtrack.
Hey, coolest thing! While the Present, Good Future and Bad Future tracks are in Redbook Audio, the Past tracks are done in PCM format from the Genesis Sonic games! The Past tracks, like the Genesis Sonic games, properly loop unlike the Redbook Audio tracks. Sounds like the Genesis has its perks!
Michael, was it...? Well, whatever... Pretty spot on review. Regarding the level layouts, there are some legitimate gripes to be had, but I don't consider them anywhere near as convoluted nor as frustrating as most others do. I guess I'm more appreciative of the fact that the game manages to retain as much of a structure as it does currently. Having to design four layouts for a single level is no easy task, and I'm surprised that the developers managed to pull it off as well as they did here. I can see where you're coming from though, and I do feel that the placement of enemies and stage hazards can feel a bit archaic at times, seeing as how the developers had to make certain compromises given the constantly interchanging level layouts. Also worth noting, I feel that CD's aesthetics and visual design is the strongest of the series, boasting creative and captivating backgrounds along with sharp, solid and distinguishable foregrounds that aid in lending each level its own sense of identity. I also like how the coloration changes in order to reflect the point in time at which you're in. It makes Little Planet feel like one big place that's affected by your actions rather than a collection of levels with interchanging layouts and flavorful scenery. The badnicks also feel as if they had more effort put into their design. They feel less bright and cartoony, and more sleek and mechanical, almost threatening in a way, though not to an overwhelming degree... As for everything else, I'm pretty much on the same boat with you. Sonic CD was an ambitious title, though whether it succeeded in reaching what it set out to do is still up for debate.
@@Pikmin88Yup, I've noticed that as well ever since I got Origins and tried the JP soundtrack. I am so grateful they did different soundtracks or we wouldn't have gotten the awesome Sonic Boom because I hate the toot too song
I love Sonic CD, but it is NOT better than Sonic 2 or Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It's a wonderfully unique game but the level design is beyond sloppy. The Japanese soundtrack is one of my all-time favorite game soundtracks. The American soundtrack isn't bad, either.
ExoParadigmGamer To each his own, man. It always felt to me like a level designer had fallen asleep on his keyboard. I love me some Sonic CD, but yeah. :P
Wow, amazing video and channels. So happy to have found your channel. Where I raised in Europe, I noticed the Megadrive references, and the box art usage. Thank u agIn.
@@chucke.cheesesmichiganprod1254 So it sucks because...it was released on one system? That is the STUPIDEST reason I ever heard! The game has been rereleased on other systems you know?
Love the Android version. Plays perfectly on my Xperia Play! Thanks for the comparison. Because of this I just picked it up for my phone. I also have a Sega CD version but is it nice to be able to play this game on the go and the ability to change the music from US to Japan, the widescreen presentation and the customizable spin dash are all great additions!
Looking forward to the s3&k review. I really like sonic cd but don't go back to it enough. Mainly because I feel like I rush through the levels playing it normally.
Fun Fact: Toei Animation, which, in association with Studio Junio, produced and animated the opening and closing cutscenes for Sonic CD, is also most well-known for being the anime studio that brought us Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon.
So many reasons why i think it is the best from the classics and maybe even in general. The level design is probably the only thing that i dont like too much. But man, what can i say about both soundtracks. The JP version is more fast, but the NA version fits more and is more atmospheric.I really enjoyed this game in almost every possible way.
It's not just the level design in CD that confuses me, it's also the level themes. In the main series Sonic runs through green valleys, ancient ruins, snowy mountain peaks etc... most of the zones in CD I don't even know what they're supposed to be... this is a design feature that CD shares with another quality title, Knuckles Chaotix.
This is a really good video. I disagree with a lot of the things you say, but the point is that we can have differing opinions without saying that you did an awful job. You explained fluently and I at least get where you are getting at. A few things though: 1. I think the vertical design of Sonic CD does make it stand out and more unique because of it. Players can still zip through the levels horizontally and still enjoy the game as a simple 2D Sonic, but at least there is an option. 2. The whole robot generator critique I get, like in Wacky Workbench 1 which is quite a doozy, but regarding the difficulty, I don't mind. The game at least GIVES you a save feature whereas a lot of games at the time didn't bother, or went with an overly long password. 3. Yes having 0 rings at the final boss is hard, but that's what I wanted out of a final boss. I wanted to clench that victory with my skills only without the game handing me a handicap. Also, the design of the final boss is very mediocre, and compared to the other bosses in the game, it's easily the worst. 4. Kudos for having Popful Mail :)
My Opinions on sonic cd: I remember playing it and absolutely loving it. I remember playing sonic games, and most of them felt kind of like a "run in a straight line, beat the stage" kind of deal. I was kinda burnt out on that. But Sonic CD's time travel mechanic was pretty much the thing that made the game interesting to me. I would have to find parts of the stage to use to time travel fro, and in some cases in order to actually time travel you had to be kinda innovative. I also liked all of the levels that you described as frustrating. Collision chaos is one of the most unique levels from 2d sonic ive seen, and stardust speedway brings back some of that "going fast all the time" that sonic cd can otherwise lack. Also Metallic madness was a lot of fun for me, simply because of the challenge it provided in a game that was considerably less frustrating to complete, and the wacky workbench mechanic, while it could get slightly annoying, also brought a unique feel to the level that gave it identity. However I do understand that Sonic CD is very different from the formula for the rest of the sonic games, which many people love so I can understand any dislike towards it for that reason. You gave a fair and honest review :).
I never liked Sonic CD and I never will, but man this game set the standard for what a retro-remake should be and it's the reason we now have Sonic Mania.
+ExoParadigmGamer Whoah. Honestly, I didn't expect anyone to even see my reply. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. i appreciate it, since you're a Content Creator. I do like your videos, even though I'm still confused why you review the original game and just compare the original and the remake lol.
Remake or Rebreak is a review series where I take a look at the classic games of the past, and discuss how subsequent rereleases build or otherwise improve (or not) upon the originals. It's just always struck me as unnecessarily retro-focused to talk only about the original version of a game when there exists other versions that are debatably more worth owning (Not true for every case, but you get me). For example, Klonoa Door to Phantomile was an awesome 1997 PS1 game that was remade for the Wii in 2008. When people review Door to Phantomile, they almost always talk only about the original version, even though the Wii version is superior in many ways and worth discussing regardless. It's because of cases like that that I wanted my reviews to focus on version comparisons when applicable. Hopefully that answers your question. And I'm glad to hear you like my stuff. :)
1.the reason's the levels are the way they are in this game and sonic 1 is because the original purpose of sonic is to be a plateformer like mario but faster so of course there will be levels like metailic madness where you need to slow down and think about the level enviroments so no the levels are NOT badly designed 2.the special stages aren't as bad as you making it look because if you hold the down d pad or analog you can slow down but i do agree the original version's frame rate was bad 3.the music demostrates something that sonic cd doe's right is the japanese ost's message of motivation("you can do anything" and "Cosmic eternity")because it's basically breaking the fourth wall and taliking to YOU the player along with the other tracks having great melodies and a bouncy feel to them not to mention this game along with sonic 1 tackles the themes of Tech VS nature in it's level design and music 4.the boss's are easy but they use concepts from the level itself to attack sonic i usaully take as a expermental idea for the boss's in this game Overall i think with more research this review could be really awesome to watch but no it's just comparing a more japanese sonic game with the more american sonic 3
yeah 3 and knuckles is better in my opinion mainly because the level design is much better and faster. sonic Cd's level design is all over the place which isn't so bad unless you look for those gernarators. I guess the give you at least good exploration if you look for them. if not you could just do the special stages and still get the good ending so it isn't forced. still one of my favorite sonic games after sonic 3 and knuckles and sonic 2.
+ExoParadigmGamer The remake is also on Steam and Windows Phone. Also note THE ANDOID REMAKE OF THIS GAME ARE NOW COMPLETELY WIPED FROM GOOGLE PLAY. (except in japan)
I forgot to mention that Metallic Madness is my favourite level! I love the music I love the challenge and the only level with a bottomless pit! I do not know why they took those out until the final stage.
I heard that you have to unlock the cheats in the remakes by beating all of the special stages in under 4 minutes, which is kind of hard for a casual gamer to do without LOTS of practice.
fuzzyferretdude I'm not kidding. To explain: 1. The Giant Rings that take you to special stages cannot spawn in Metallic Madness regardless of the player's ring count. 2. Since Giant Rings do not appear, the player must collect all 7 Time Stones before reaching Metallic Madness to complete the Time Stone sidequest; however 3. Completing the Time Stone sidequest automatically eliminates all remaining roboticizers (and Metal Sonic holograms, but that's irrelevant since there are none in MM). Therefore, a player who completes the Time Stone sidequest cannot manually destroy to roboticizers in Metallic Madness. 4. Completing the Roboticizer/Hologram sidequest requires the player to manually destroy all Roboticizers in the game, which is impossible if the player has already completed the Time Stone sidequest, which is necessary to complete it at all. Therefore, it is impossible to complete both sidequests in a single playthrough.
+RassilonTDavros i'm sorry, but that's utter BS plain and simple, you can still get the giant rings to spawn in the past, and i should know since i've done it, ut works fine, if a bit redundant to both get the timestones and get the robot generators/metal sonic holograms. you seem to have no clue how the game actually works
The reason metal got so damn popular over time was a movie for sonic the hedgehog yes an OFFICIAL movie look it up its on TH-cam and it explains all the shit that could've been sonic cd except different the movie was awesome uh it was ethier that or his damn epic design and supposedly faster than sonic which he probably could be or maybe it's because egg man.... Eh anyway yes there was a movie it was released in I think 1999 or 1998? One of those two but it was amazing lol again it's not something you'd find it was kinda sercretive or something like that so yeah.
It could have been cool if holding the Super Peel Out for 10-15 seconds would let you time travel. I would totally go for the robot generators if that was the case.
Hold the fucking phone, you dont have to destroy the machines/metal sonic holograms if you get the time stones? fml i did both. also im pretty sure future posts are only useful to get to the present
Me and my friends loved Metallic Madness back in the day, had no idea there were ppl that actually hated it, but opinions differ :) As for timetravel + constant speed, it made sense to me having seen the Back to the Future movies :P The Pull Out move was by far more useful than the Spindash in this game, it was so much faster and easier to pull off and like you mentioned if you needed to spin a simple ducking move after using the Pull Out was enough making the Spindash redundant.
Def the HD version imo, I played the heck out of the original CD ver via the Gems collection and emulators but the HD ver fixed the physics has both soundtracks and the 16:9 HD widescreen visuals. Great vid as always Exo did one of my fave Sonic games of all time justice! -Husky (Sonic Theories)
Last stages are easy if you see the pattern. I know I cant really explain that well. Looking for the right shaped slope, and the spikes in the middle of the half pipes that drop down to a copy of the same half pipe... I can see why you are having a hard time looking for a bush in the forest, but running through the level and getting the time gem it's easy. Maybe it is just because I played it so many times.. As for the pinball boss.. He was always easy, but when I was little I couldn't figure it out.. Again practice with pinball games its more natural now and not so easy to explain with words. I'm not being that guy that's full of shit saying your hardest test is a piece of cake, but given the history I have with it it isn't as bad as you are making it out to be. Sure the bouncy checkered floors are annoying at points but it really isn't that bad if you are just running through getting coins and the gem.
Personally I've only played the version from the Hidden Gems re-release on the Gamecube. I really like what I've played of it, and I can see why it has such a cult following. But I can also see a lot of the flaws it's detractors point out. That said, it's still one of my favorite Sonic games of all time already, behind Adventure 2 at first place and then Sonic 2 at second.
I had a copy of this for Windows when I was little, and both me and my parents have no idea where it came from, but I loved it. The thing I loved about it was the maze of levels. As a child I could play it repeatedly and not remember any of the levels other then the art styles, so I played it alot because of the replay-ability of that. As well, because I adhered strictly to do not read the manual ever (and still follow that) I actually had no idea how the time travelling worked for the longest time. But for the 7y/o me at the time, this was the most fun game I had ever played.
The european soundtrack is overall better, but the upgrade one has some bangers. I don't get how you like the us one more, a lot sound bad, plus the past tracks are still japanese.
This was my favourite Sonic game of all time! I love it a lot. In fact I have never seen another Time change in stages in any other Sonic game. I just wish they would make a remake for Sonic CD!
4:44 Metal Sonic doesn't have any interesting abilities...?! Exo...you've crossed the line, for I say nay! Metal Sonic is a direct counterpart to Sonic in every way...but stronger, potentially faster, and more ruthless! It is because of this facade that Sonic is driven to prove that he's the best, and the only speed demon around. Unsung as it is, we neglect to consider how truly deadly it is that Metal Sonic can mimic all of Sonic's capabilities. Unlike Eggman's other robots, Metal actually possesses the skill to push Sonic farther than he's ever gone. If that weren't enough, his strength is considerable, and his metallic body appears to be just as durable as the real deal's, if not more so. Metal can copy and predict all of Sonic's moves, produce energy shielding, fly, boost, and...come on, man...are we looking at the same character?!?! It sounds to me that you really mean Silver Sonic, if anything... If there are any other Metal Sonic fans out there...please let me know. D: I can't even begin to develop an essay over Metal Sonic's personality...I already know Exo won't see this... DX

Fall in love? No sexual themes were used (Trol)
Haedox why are you here? I know you're a human, but, i thought that you don't have time for videos, but i guess you have your fav's
I actually love stardust speedway zone, but I understand why people might not.
Pobccc thank you
It is the weakest zone in the game in my opinion since it tries to combine the bottom slow part and top fast parts of starlight zone. I still like the zone, it is just all over the place
+Mec Burna Blasta I get that, I guess I just play it a lot, so I'm used to it. It is definetily ancluttered zone.
Pobccc I like it because in some sonic games I actually slowed down instead of going fast because I always thought I would get hit, in stardust speedway, you can go fast but not get hit too much
Pobccc The Boss Is Hard😢😢😢
This is my favorite game of all time and you gave this a fair and honest review. Thank you very much. I really enjoy your ROR series. Very well thought out and professionally done.
+Zon Zalzzabar You're welcome, sir. :)
I've played Sonic CD on iOS so much I literally remember every single generator by memory.
Super Noah Playz I'm almost done with the generator ending. I'm stuck on the third special stage and I'm in Metallic madness' first zone.
I love metallic madness zone. It is a scrap brain clone, yeah but I love how each zone has its own different background like scrap brain zone and the music( especially in the bad future) is so badass
Ninja Metall I hated 6 so much that I named it burden special stage
Mec Burna Blasta for some reason, after I beat metal sonic and I make it to MM I get this weird feeling that I just want to stop and finish it later.
Super Noah Playz I'm on wacky workbench Z.1.any tips?
"Gentles and ladiesmen"?
That sounds like something my mom would have said, which is awesome, but it also makes me miss my mom.
There's actually an extra clip after the credits depending on the ending... if you get a good ending, the pixie dust sprouts flowers as if the planet said thank you... if you get the bad ending, little planet is forced to return and become imprisoned again, like if it's making it all come back around
NA soundtrack: 2spooky4me (with good special stages)
JP/EU soundtrack: Groovy. (plus wacky workbench pants)
That is, until Sonic Origins has been announced for its 2022 release.
fun thing is sonic 3 and knuckles are available on xbox one and series consoles

Why do you pronounce iOS like that though? Weird

One thing I always found annoying is that 5 boss levels have exactly 100 rings, but wacky workbench has 98, and stardust speedway has a random number.
5:44 Along with this "fucking" list, might I add one more?
You know what Sonic CD's Labyrinth Zone boss has?
FUCKING BUBBLES!
24:48 Only time I will hear someone say "Huzzah!" and reference Balrog.
I think this game's special stages are borderline unplayable. Sonic controls like ass, there's water everywhere and the UFOs are sometimes unnecesesarily hard to hit. And then there's the time limit...
Agreed. A shame, too. One of the best Sonic games ever and it has some of the worst special stages ever.
ShakeFan14 I'm beginning to notice that that's a common trend. The better the game the worse the special stages are. At least they give you Super forms in the latter genesis/mega drive games.
Unless it's Lost World 3DS.
They're pretty hard, but I played Sonic CD so much that I mastered them.
This was a Great episode, really enjoyed it. inspires us to want to do a review of some old sonic games. might make that part of our agenda.
+Azurephoenix13x The problem, this episode was supposed to be a comparison; not a review.
I don't know how the hell I found all the roboticizers without a guide. It felt so awarding for me to do it.
I'm glad that someone prefers the North American version of *SOMETHING*. Seems like people here prefer foreign everything regardless.

Metal sonic is popular because of the sonic OVA.
Cool
Incredible soundtrack, incredible game concept (for the time), incredibly schizophrenic level design.
26:18 ...And now it's available on Sonic Origins, available for every generation 8 and 9 console, including the Nintendo Switch
Omg bro that game was a fucking hot mess like superstars
And PC, and ngl it's a replace (the paid mobile version that is)
'Damn, this game is sexy', EPG 2015
I love Sonic CD, but it is NOT better than Sonic 2 or Sonic 3 & Knuckles. It's a wonderfully unique game but the level design is beyond sloppy.
The Japanese soundtrack is one of my all-time favorite game soundtracks. The American soundtrack isn't bad, either.
lordwindowlicker Not sloppy, necessarily, but definitely below the standards of the previous two games and the gloriousness that is 3 & Knuckles.

The good future doesn't seem to matter anyway, as the bad future version of Stardust Speedway is the ONLY version that SEGA uses.
Fun fact the US instruction book claimed that Amy Rose was Princess Sally from the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon series.
CD is 2nd to S3&K. S3&K is always the best classic Sonic game.
2 is better then cd
S3&K sucks, MANIA IS ALWAYS THE BEST SONIC GAME!!!!!!!
@@chucke.cheesesmichiganprod1254 I love Mania but how does S3 suck?
AngelDemon It’s because Sonic Mania is for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox, but Sonic 3 is only for the SEGA Genesis
I still think scrambled egg zone is the hardest
12:03 Sonic Origins Plus: Please allow me to introduce myself.
I really do wish that Knuckles was in Sonic CD. It's so unfair.
Agreed
Well to be fair, he didn't exist yet.
Knuckles' abilities would be cool for exploring in CD.
the Sonic CD remake was made before the Sonic 1 and 2 remakes
This is a really good video. I disagree with a lot of the things you say, but the point is that we can have differing opinions without saying that you did an awful job. You explained fluently and I at least get where you are getting at. A few things though:
Apparently they also ported this game to PC in 1996, and at one point it came preinstalled on Packard Bell computers.
My Opinions on sonic cd:
I remember playing it and absolutely loving it.
Sweet as usual.
I never liked Sonic CD and I never will, but man this game set the standard for what a retro-remake should be and it's the reason we now have Sonic Mania.

Adding "Dem" to each section of your review sounds extremely forced.
And that's exactly why I stopped doing it in my recent videos.
1.the reason's the levels are the way they are in this game and sonic 1 is because the original purpose of sonic is to be a plateformer like mario but faster so of course there will be levels like metailic madness where you need to slow down and think about the level enviroments so no the levels are NOT badly designed
2.the special stages aren't as bad as you making it look because if you hold the down d pad or analog you can slow down but i do agree the original version's frame rate was bad
3.the music demostrates something that sonic cd doe's right is the japanese ost's message of motivation("you can do anything" and "Cosmic eternity")because it's basically breaking the fourth wall and taliking to YOU the player along with the other tracks having great melodies and a bouncy feel to them not to mention this game along with sonic 1 tackles the themes of Tech VS nature in it's level design and music
4.the boss's are easy but they use concepts from the level itself to attack sonic i usaully take as a expermental idea for the boss's in this game
Overall i think with more research this review could be really awesome to watch but no it's just comparing a more japanese sonic game with the more american sonic 3
does it matter?
"Damn, this game be sexy."

+Glr ZERO I think you nailed it. It's like sweet ear candy and eye candy. That's why I like Sonic CD so much.
I perfer CD over 3 and Knuckles

--I am not kidding myself--
yeah 3 and knuckles is better in my opinion mainly because the level design is much better and faster.
sonic Cd's level design is all over the place which isn't so bad unless you look for those gernarators. I guess the give you at least good exploration if you look for them. if not you could just do the special stages and still get the good ending so it isn't forced.
still one of my favorite sonic games after sonic 3 and knuckles and sonic 2.
The scary ass music when you lose I played this when I was a kid literally kept my light on for a month
I lost at the "past, present and future" segment of the game.
13:00: Hope you like the drop dash making things much easier in Sonic Origins, then.
I love your reviews dude. Keep it up
im doing BOTH side quests in the mobile remake
Keep in mind that you can't do both in one playthrough.
+RassilonTDavros ...you're kidding right? because if you're not, congrats, dumbass of the year award goes to you.
fuzzyferretdude
I'm not kidding. To explain:
1. The Giant Rings that take you to special stages cannot spawn in Metallic Madness regardless of the player's ring count.
2. Since Giant Rings do not appear, the player must collect all 7 Time Stones before reaching Metallic Madness to complete the Time Stone sidequest; however
+RassilonTDavros i'm sorry, but that's utter BS plain and simple, you can still get the giant rings to spawn in the past, and i should know since i've done it, ut works fine, if a bit redundant to both get the timestones and get the robot generators/metal sonic holograms. you seem to have no clue how the game actually works
fuzzyferretdude
Welp, looks like I screwed up.
You remind me so much of SomeCallMeJohnny and I love it. You two would get along.
Me and my friends loved Metallic Madness back in the day, had no idea there were ppl that actually hated it, but opinions differ :)
As for timetravel + constant speed, it made sense to me having seen the Back to the Future movies :P
The Pull Out move was by far more useful than the Spindash in this game, it was so much faster and easier to pull off and like you mentioned if you needed to spin a simple ducking move after using the Pull Out was enough making the Spindash redundant.
I'd love to have a Super Pull Out... if you know what I mean ;)

Oh my god.. I called them coins.. fucking hell.. "rings".
I got S&K and SCD pc port too! And i love that ports. Agreed TBH.
Personally I've only played the version from the Hidden Gems re-release on the Gamecube.
I really like what I've played of it, and I can see why it has such a cult following. But I can also see a lot of the flaws it's detractors point out. That said, it's still one of my favorite Sonic games of all time already, behind Adventure 2 at first place and then Sonic 2 at second.
that's how Wacky Workbench sounds:
AWFUL IN THE JP VERSION AND BADASS IN THE US VERSION
Except for the bad future

Metal Sonic doesn't have any interesting abilities...?!
DX
