Same!! Haha
I drove through the area to Cheyenne last year and recognized everything from the videos.
Your charging experience with EA reflects what a lot of us "older" CCS drivers experienced when traveling with EA 3 to 5 years ago, which is why you'll see some of the more experienced CCS EV owners pushing back when people crap on EA. That being said, your experience is similar because those stations and that route are still under utilized by EV owners, and EA really starts to run into problems as the usage goes up and the stations get crowded.
THere's only 4 EA charging stations in the entire state of New Hampshire! I opted out of a BMW lease because of lack of CCS fast charging in NH
@@craighermle7727 True, but New Hampshire is tiny. My typical grocery run is long enough to cross NH end-to-end, and I rarely have to charge away from home.
Great cameo!! Love Everyday Driver!!
I’m sensing a recall for wipers is coming.
They will fix that with an over the air update.
@@skipondowntheroad5833 lmao how will an ota fix a mechanical wiper breaking off it's track?

Went over without ducking
@@chester5324 was erring on the side of a Tesla apologist. But sarcasm will do.
15:18 The 350 kW rating is valid because these will provide 500 A up to a maximum of 700 V. The 200 kWh Ultium EVs will see the full 350 kW on these units (actually closer to 370 kW because the current appears to drop off slower than the voltage increases); however, the bigger issue is that these are "balanced" chargers, so there's only about 175 kW available per stall when both dispensers are in use.
Considering Superchargers seem to be considered the gold standard and they only have 360/4=90kw per stall 175 is probably fine?
@@BillyONeal I think so. The V3 Superchargers are great for their intended purpose (supporting 100 kWh and smaller battery EVs with high peak charging speeds at low battery, but low average charging speeds overall). But don't let the Tesla fans catch you saying that they are underpowered and in need of improvement compared to modern DCFC.
@@newscoulomb3705 given Tesla is finalizing plans to rollout V4 charging I think it’s safe to say most Tesla fans are well aware of the need for better/faster chargers…highly anticipated!
@@Freakyguy666 Maybe. We know that Tesla as a company is aware that their Superchargers are now operating at a disadvantage, but Tesla fans are still arguing that V3 is more than good enough for the Cybertruck. Even after multiple Cybertruck videos from Out of Spec showcasing V3s derating after just 10 minutes and superior charging speeds on 800 V CCS1 dispensers, some Tesla folk are still denying that the Superchargers are in dire need of a complete overhaul.
@@newscoulomb3705 there’s always a vocal minority…I wouldn’t take them as reps for the majority of Tesla fans…incidentally, do you happen to know which ccs1 adapter they are using in this video?
Great to see this. I'm taking an Ioniq 6 from NorCal to Loveland in August and Wyoming was worrying me a bit until the Rock Springs station came online just a few weeks ago. Looking forward to my trip!
I’m here for the road trips hahaha
I can’t imagine being that calm in a new car without any wiper
love the road trips, ty for sharing
We all know how great superchargers are, but it's pretty sad they still haven't even hinted at real support for 800v charging and yet they sell an 800v vehicle. Kinda sad.
When your incel camino sells like shit and overruns on costs out the ass, you need to find ways to make up money, so firing the supercharger team was obviously a logical step. Why innovate when you can just take the profits from the company and then run it into the ground. Not like Elon hasn't ever done that before.
three weeks away from home, wow, feel for you guy, love the scoring to this video, drive safely
There's a new supercharger under construction in Park City.
Speed limit of 80mph, and he still feels the need to speed.
Why didn’t you duct tape, or painter’s tape around the windshield wiper blade mounting point? So it doesn’t scratch the windshield?
I had this same thought. I would be worried Id accidentally hit the switch.

Cheap and good charging should be a thing on i80 crossing Wyoming considering all of the coal power and windmills.. Easy to have good solar along that route too! Nice to see it’s starting to happen!

Hola, Ohayo Bonjour, Ciao, Konnichiwa, Ni hao, Ola, Guten tag...
Nice use of EV-ject to space off the CCS-1 adapter enough to not be in the way on the Cybertruck!
I love the little editing details you add. Like the tunnel entrance. Huge fan!
Rock Springs Supercharger has the advantage of being next to a really great Japanese restaurant.
Kyle finally growing up and ditching that Starbucks dreck. Brings a tear to my eye.
Starbucks is awesome though. Just hate their stupid politics and high prices. But once in a while I will have it and it’s great.
Good to see! I've driven I-80 in my Y quite a bit and last year tried to use them over the V2 due to speed but both times failed. 😞 Will probably be doing the trip again this summer so good to see EA might actually be an option for this route.
Hey Jordan! This is awesome, beautiful scenery! Seriously, going back and forth to other cities is always a bit of a charging inconvenience! But the scenery is definitely worth it! I always feel like you're missing something in your car? The wilderness! Cyberpickups! I learned there are some wonderful scents missing!
I'm sure there's something for your channel. We recently launched a new car scent product that I think would be a great addition to your content. I'll find out more details and send you an invite email soon.
Looking forward to working together and seeing what we can create together!
That looks like a heck of a lot of stress on the jury-rigged adapter.

The wiper breaking has to be frustrating. However I would stop and buy some RainX to get the rain to sheet off its surface. Not ideal but in your situation it could be a temp fix.
Great video, enjoyed it!
once again love the road trips, thanks for the ride along, by the way how much for that beast wiper blade????
Better keep a bottle of RainX in the Cybertruck!

Hi Paul!
That looks like the Lucid surge.
you have to do the EA surge dance like Out of Spec Dave
I’ve been driving a Cybertruck across the country as we speak and been dealing with the yo-yo charging as well. Jumps to 250kW then down to 35kW and so on… frustrating
I scratched a windshield once with a wiper.
Thank you for sharing, also having Paul in the shoot, great! It's a smallish community still. Do you see any impact to the layoff of Teslas charging crew? Did he re-hire them again?
The mono-wiper was a dumb idea to begin with. Like everything on the Cybertruck an engineer told Elon this is a horrible idea, and Elon told them to design it anyway. First off, replacement.. not like you can go into Wal-mart and get a new set of Cybertruck wipers. Second cost.. replacing the wiper is not going to be cheap or easy, the design is proprietary so i can't just unscrew them and put on new arms and away I go. If the arm breaks you are going to have to get it replaced by Tesla and everyone know OEMs don't charge out the wazoo for anything. Just a bad design all around but I would expect nothing less from the Incel King himself.
Replacement wiper is reportedly $75 which seems right in line with what other premium wiper blades cost for a pair?
Wyoming in the winter is why I wanted the Cybertruck to have a 500 mile epa range. That stretch of I 80 closes all the time with crazy cross winds. The secondary route to the tetons has a desolate stretch from Casper to Jackson where I don't trust the charging.
RecallTwuck 😂
CT disappoints as a fast-charging travel vehicle. Its range disappoints. Its efficiency disappoints. The vault is cool, it only if you really use it a lot.
It’s honestly one of the worst new EVs on the road, especially for the price.
Could anyone provide a link on the ccs1 adapter used here?
I've hated Park City for decades, and now I hate it more for no good charging. If any municipality has the money for it, it's them!
PC has had free DCFC for years and plenty of free L2 as well. Just because some clueless guy says it on the internet doesn’t mean it is true.

Where did you get the adapter for the CCS adapter? what did it cost?
hows’ life?,great . till next time~🌟
The wasatch back has no DC fast charging. From powder mountain all the way down to Sundance/Heber. It's so frustrating and crazy there isn't anything at least along I-80 and I-84.
Technically this is not true. There is a DCFC in Coalville and 2 different ones in PC though EVGO is broken and the library was broken for a while before that.
What was that setup for the charging. I see the CCS adapter but what’s on it the tip of the adapter. To make it long enough to work!
I think it's an adaptor called "EVject"
Would like to hear EA engineering and Tesla engineering comments about the fluctuating charge rate.
I’m curious how the noise is, subjectively, cruising at 87
You are following the transcontinental rail road path.
Commercial, promotion, and pumping. LOL!
I miss those EA per minute pricing. Used to pay about $0.10 each kWh. Cheapest DC charging ever.
330+kW charging! It'll be great when Tesla starts rolling out V4 for real, or current-CCS networks add NACS plugs, the CT might rival the Silverado for road trip speed.
The speed cycling is almost certainly due to the multiple stacked adapters overheating.
It'll be nice when the range extender comes out and we can maintain 350 kw for a longer amount of time. More miles into the battery quicker.
they fired the team so nothing happening anytime soon....
Tesla is not going to roll out 800V chargers soon while the rest of the world already does...
The charging curve of the cybertruck is worse than the Silverado EV
The cluster of adapters has reliably worked in tons of charging tests at 300kW++. It was the EA station at fault.
Just an observation, enjoyed 1st leg of this roadtrip but starting this one it felt like I'd missed a chunk & had to mentally catch-up as I don't follow any of the other soc-med stuff. However, these videos are always welcome, stunning scenery for sure! Cheers from the UK.
Lol@the wiper. Imagine paying for garbage like this just to say you own one and *think* you’re showing off. What an absolute garbage product.
that's why Tesla transitioned to CCS years ago in Europe
And NO, EU didn't force Tesla to switch
that wiper alone (4:00) is reason enough to not buy a Cybertruck... When I first saw the (working) wiper in action, I thought "this is really a bad bad design"...
A Prius would be a good car too. Or a range extended EV like the Volt.
Prius is just a more efficient gas car. PHEVS can actually operate like EVs most of the time with many owners almost never burning gas. I drive a Volt btw and will get an EV once it dies.
So from factory - the plastic wheel covers "eats" away at its tires so you can't really use them. The accelerator pedal comes apart & needs a weld like an afterthought. Now the big wiper blade comes flying off, and its proprietary design means good luck finding a replacement at a service station.
Remind me how "groundbreaking" the Cyberturd is again?
Hoovie’s Cybertruck arrived rusted from the factory. No Automated Cruise Control, no easy way to clean, the panels are misaligned. it’s insane how it got released in such a state…
You're still here watching the video 🤣
48V accessory architecture? Drive by wire front and rear steering? Never mind - just gimmicks.
I have a feeling this was OOS, but Cheyenne was a buzz on Friday when a CT was in town. Lots of Facebook posts on it, and my mom called me to say she saw one downtown.
It is Cheyenne, it is probably the first time they saw a real car. Most people still use horses to get around in Wyoming.
Need to charge where it is good who knows what is ahead for chargers unless Tesla chargers from Aussie
I kind of like the idea of rates based on time used but I think it unfairly penalized people with a slower charging EV.
“held on by a thread” sounds like a great marketing ploy for the cyber truck
"Tezla" huh ???

577 wh/mile = more than double what my Model Y would get in similar conditions at similar speeds. Interesting, I would think the Cybertruck's optimized aero that would compensate for the larger size and weight, but I guess there is no compensation for size and weight.
Unbelievable about the wiper. I suspect that will be a big deal recall for Tesla in the future. I live in the Northeast and I have always thought Tesla needs to do much more testing in areas with inclement weather. The failure of your wiper is a case in point.
He was running 85-90 mph, no wheel cover, on and off throttle, not smooth. Would have been 35%+ less had his cruising been more reasonable.
@@johnross6314 nah
393 Wh/mi is what the Beast is rated at on the highway.
wish someone would do a efficiency drive at 50-60mph. Big Island Hawaii speed limits is mostly 55mph.
Yeah this guy is doing 80-90 MPH. If I did that, I'd be in jail.
@@bwp2bruce Yeah, but for him going 10 or less over the speed limit wouldn't warrant jail time.
Wyoming NEVI plan for I80 = ask for exemptions to the 50 mile rule not build anything new.. no CCS cars on that route as it is to risky run on EA. Best to go different route. It is good to see the Rock springs getting CCS. Wyomings back water politics EV bad , gas Good. They could run the whole state on wind and EV pickups would save the ranchers tons of money on fuel every year as they could grid charge daily. That and everything is far apart so people drive long distances many days.
You are aware the WYDOT's request was basically "there's nothing there and you want a charger?" And "The state would be better served with EV routes to Yellowstone"
How did you learn the service mode access code?
It's the same on all teslas. (except semi, maybe.) "service"
49:02 mediocre alcantara? What is this I don't even
Imagine paying $100k+ for a vehicle that has hubcaps that destroys your tires within a few thousand miles and a windshield wiper that only lasts a few months with regular use before it tears off? It’s not like these are new innovations or difficult issues that the the rest of industry has had issues with over the past 100 years…
Tesla has some amazing, innovative technology with things like 48v systems and the computer systems onboard, but they can’t get the basics right that even the cheapest econobox from 1970 has no issues with.
I totally agree with you, Tesla has some real quality issues even after way over a decade of manufacturing cars. The reason is simple, Tesla just doesn't care about quality, safety or customer service. But I have to disagree with you on "amazing innovative technology" 48V, steer-by-wire etc. is nothing new and has been implemented decades ago. Tesla just use them as a stand-alone solution compared to other manufacturers because they do not care about quality engineering or safety but rather aim for the lowest manufacturing cost possible, while still charging premium prices at the same time.
Check out how Porsche handles the 48V system, they managed to run the powerful active suspension directly from the 800V system and only use a lightweight 12V battery for the rest in the recently updated Porsche Taycan. The old generation still had an additional 48V DC-DC converter. Tesla however uses the 48V battery for more components and also uses a DC-DC converter to step the voltage down from the 800V architecture to 48V and even 12V, so in the end you have more (and with a different voltage) components than the Porsche which hooked up the most performing components to the 800V and uses a smaller 12V only where necessary.
Imagine making car on which the wheel nuts loosen and they have to stop the sales. Wow.
Does it look like the Cybertruck has a regular wiper to you? It’s not like anybody has perfected a design like this. It’s version 1. Not something comparable to anything from the 1970s.
The tires aren’t getting destroyed either. They’re getting rubbed by the wheel cover. Big whoop.
19:23 - It's based on the maximum rate the vehicle says it's capable of. So a vehicle that's only capable of 89kW will be charged 28 cents, a vehicle that's capable of 91kW (even if you plug in at 90% and only draw 5kW!) will be charged 44 cents.
Some states don't let the charging networks charge per kWh, because then they'd have to legally register as an "electric utility", so they _have_ to charge per minute. It would be nice if EA did it like Tesla and varied the pricing based on the actual kW draw per minute. (AKA: Ramping down the price as the charging draw ramps down.)
According to charge point they just shared a month or so ago that due to new legislation they can charge by kWh in all 50 states, so hopefully that goes away
I was disappointed with your Wh/mi until I saw your speed.
Even at that speed it is pretty mediocre at best and leans into the lower end of average consumption of the competition...Tesla just has no advanced technology whatsoever, especially not any self-developed technology but they still charge premium prices for their mediocre vehicles...
@@bullshitbingo2259go away troll. 🧌 talking nonsense.

@@bullshitbingo2259 Funny how their charging network is the one everyone else wants.
@@ItsEverythingElse The US is a unique example of outdated information and fake news why people still rather choose the Tesla network. The rest of the world has a much broader view about the industry developments and nobody particularly cares about Tesla and its charging network, especially because they are totally outdated from a technology standpoint. In China 800V is already the industry standard, in Europe in soon will be with the arrival of the 800V platform by BMW, Mercedes. Audi and Porsche already use 800V for their EVs. Hyundai/KIA uses 800V in their premium models since 2021. ANY charging network has to be 800V-ready at this point. Tesla isn't, neither their vehicles nor their chargers. And if the Model Y does not get 800V, which i doubt it will, there is no real incentive for Tesla to change that anytime soon. That already says everything anyone has to ever know about Tesla.
ahrging sucks. Battery swapping is the future, 3 minues back on the road, no charging derated , easy on the dgrid etc.. Charging should be @ home , road trips battery swapping (or battery swapping if you live in big dense cities with no access to how charging)
Just not sold on all the planning necessary for ev charging on long trips. I wouldn’t even think twice just jumping into a fossil fuel vehicle and making the same trip with no planning. I know its the way of the future but it just doesn’t match the convenience. Yet.
I posted something similar. Dead screens, wildly fluctuating charging rates and speeds, dead units, super slow units. Potentially full stations, no fast chargers available in cities like park city…just so many irritations. I’d be fine with an EV for around town daily use as long as I didn’t need it for long trips.
@@jagpilotohio on a long trip I am getting something that is hybrid, drives quiet and is comfortable. The incel camino is none of those things. I rented a Tesla a few years back when I was in Orlando for the weekend. It was alright, but if i had my charger I would've had to fill up on gas maybe 2-3 times. I felt like I had to stop every 3-4 hours to charge then wait 20-30 minutes for it to charge. It is a lot of wasted time. I don't think EVs are the future, I know we don't need to be digging up dead dinosaurs, but right now unless something changes cost-wise (I mean a good EV at the low end is around 45-50K) and range wise I don't see them getting adopted by the masses. You think a Buc-ee's is going to replace their 100 gas pumps with EV chargers? Good luck with that. Then like you said they are so hit and miss... my car can theoretically charge at 250w, but right now I am only getting 35w, let me disconnect and try this stall, oh moderately better 90w... then payment methods. Gas pump tap card, pump gas. EV charger, download app, put in credit card, authorize start charging.
If the US gov't and/or states want me to drive an EV by 2030 they are going to need to step up their game. The charging infrastructure across this country is shit at best. Then deciding to go with the tesla charging plug only to have Elon give them a big middle finger by firing the super charger team was another great idea. I hope the people in congress that decided that got a nice bonus from Elon. Stock options and campaign contributions?
In all fairness he could’ve just followed the cars navigation system, only use Tesla chargers and it would’ve been just fine. The dead screen and broken stations are classic 💩 Electrify America. If you rely on EA, forget it

While Tesla has more charging stations and they are very reliable. Tesla is way behind on charging speeds. They are stuck in the 2010’s. Sad.
"Still far better than a V2?" Add in loading the app, slow handshakes, rollercoaster charging speeds, moving the truck, then repeat. I'm not convinced that is way faster. I'm always surprised with my Tesla's how little difference 250kW makes to 150kW, maybe like 5 minutes faster because of the charging curves. Obviously a reliable 350kW is better than power-sharing at 71kW but reliable & EA don't belong in the same sentence. I'm sticking with good ole' reliable Superchargers that i can plug in & walk away.
Glad the 2nd EA was better. But you just never know.
Exactly. It was not a better experience AT ALL… I would just use the car navigation, Tesla chargers…
I have an issue where FSD 12.3.6, on a 50 mph road sees the Route 5/15 road sign and it thinks the speed limit is 15 mph, so it only goes about 20 mph... in a 50, it's very dangerous. I have a couple videos showing it. I'll try to make a short one dedicated to this issue.
The Cybertruck is truly the dumbest waste of money on a car today. Atrociously shitty design and even worse put together. This could easily be peak Tesla.
Stop complaining. If you're too weak to lift a CCS connector, you're too weak to swerve a steering wheel in the event of an accident.
Only ways the wheel cover dig into sidewalls: 1.) off-road with inflation lowered 2.) running on road hard with under inflated tires. They do add extra miles of range. Keep them on.
They are wearing from normal highways/ city driving.
Yeah, there would be a safety recall if the tires were actually adversely affected by these at standard operating pressures. A little scuffing of the sidewall is nothing - the tires are beefed up in that area too.
A Cybertruck road trip without talking at all about what sets
CT apart from the other trucks in so many ways is troubling. Because there are huge things. Steer by wire. Smooth car feel rather than a truck feel. Sound system. 4 wheel steer. How are those views that we both love so much out of the CT vs other trucks? And on and on, but you’re silent. This is a charging video, not a CT video.
And get some RainX at any auto parts store ffs.
Stop crying lol Cybertruck is a half baked product. Rusted from the factory, riddled with charging issues, inappropriate hubcaps, on and on and on

I would still own a cybertruck but definitely not any real cost savings. Especially if you add in that cost of running cable and a home charger
Maybe because you have higher energy prices than like 95% of the country?
Your math shows it's at least half the fuel price in even your expensive area. Then add in no oil changes and fewer brake pad and rotor replacements and you see the savings.

These charging videos are nice because it shows me I’d never tolerate an EV. Dead screens on new units, wildly fluctuating charging rates. Entire Lack of fast charging in significantly large cities, Load sharing, Software not recognizing non Tesla chargers… just infuriating. It would be Totally intolerable for me.
Depends on situation. I own Model 3s and going back and forth between LA and Vegas | Vegas and Phoenix is a non issue. That's 90% of my travel.
It's a lot better than it used to be. It wasn't that long ago when a CCS car couldn't even travel I-80 in Wyoming at all. Now, all that's needed is some redundancy/competition so that EA can't act like a lazy monopolist. According to PlugShare, there's some Pilot Flying J sites marked as "coming soon" which should do the trick once they finally open.
That said, I don't see myself driving the I-80 corridor in Wyoming anytime soon, if ever, regardless of car type, as just about any trip one could reasonably use it for is likely to be doable much more quickly flying in an airplane.
It’s Electrify America… just follow the car navigation and charge at Tesla only… easy
It’s stupid to own an electric car … all those charging stops!!!
