Greetings from Serbia 😊 Im glad you liked your trip trough the country. Enjoying your videos for years. Sorry i didn't know you were in Belgrade to say hi 👋
Did the drive from Zagreb, Croatia to Ljubljana, Slovenia about 90 days ago. What a beautiful country and people. Llubjana, Slovenia is now one of my favorite cities in Europe. I had no idea it was such a cool city until I got there. Very young and hip.
Hi from England. Thanks for another interesting and informative video, definitely one of your better ones. I have an ID.3 in England , my son a Tesla 3 LR in Switzerland which we’re road tripping from Split Croatia to Zurich Switzerland next month. Can’t wait
@@KyleConner Yeah the police just got them. (the whole nation is pissed as you can imagine) From Hyundai i30 1.4L they will totaled half them in 2 months time :-) You definatlly had to go through the Sofia,( mix of great and comunist architecture and crazy expesive cars) Gelemenovo was hilarious place TBH Although Fines (it is pronounced like Finesse) is great charging nework but you somehow found the most akward places :-))) It was hilarious! and the graveyard.... :-))) Great trip Kyle and so fun to watch! Thank you brother! 🙂
Gosh, I just realized how much I like the dashboard of this car compared to Rivian/Tesla/etc. So much useful info during charging. Also, those gear leavers ... physical switches FTW.
1:26:00 Well, Porsche got that very wrong. The speed limit on the highways in Bulgaria is 140km/h, so you can drive 150 and be safe from spedd cameras. The road conditions are a whole different safety matter.
What an awesome roadtrip! I've spent a lot of time in Sofia Bulgaria it's a wonderful city. I would Love to do a trip like this one day but the single chargers you stopped at would make me a little nervous if they went tech. Looks as though you had plenty of bailout options though. Thanks so much for sharing this amazing experience.
I did this on 1967 in a 1962 Chrysler New Yorker station wagon. Yugoslavian roads left something to be desired. Had a wreck in Istanbul and drove home with the door wired shut..
Had a good laugh when Kyle looking at the bland highway scene he is driving in Bulgaria past nondescript square buildings, modern, etc warehouses, etc, says: " I've never seen anything like this" LOL. Thanks for the entertainment and the laughs. You could have been driving in Kansas and I wouldn't know the difference. :)
Yes, now we need a Europe north to south trip. The southern tip of Italy to northcape and through the Baltics for something different. Unless Kyle needs to try to the charging on the ferries from Germany to Sweden to add more unusual chargers to the list.
Hi from Bulgaria :) I didn`t know that you were coming here, I would love to meet you. Fines have the best charging infrastructure in Bulgaria especially in South Bulgaria from Sofia to Turkey or the Black Sea resorts. There are other options too but are pretty much limited to 120 or 50 KW.
what stunning scenery, the first out of spec motoring video I haven't skipped the driving parts lol. hopefully we get the new taycan in the states soon!
1:31:55 - Route 80 used to run from San Diego, CA eastwards, but now just runs from Dallas, TX to Tybee Island, GA (part of Savannah). It runs in part where I-20 is now.
Over 2 Hours?!!? I will need a day of vacation to watch this completely… Thanks anyway! You are the best car-TH-camr online! Specially compared to the Germans. ;)
At first, I was like, "Stuttgart to Istanbul!? That is a very long distance!" Then, I checked the distance between Los Angeles and Jacksonville, which is the "shortest" coast-to-coast Interstate drive in the US. And it is TWICE as long. It is so easy to forget how MASSIVE the US truly is.
Thank you! One of the coolest videos I've seen you make! It's so exciting to see you travel through countries where the charging infrastructure isn't as developed as we're used to. Really awesome video! Thanks for your efforts for us EV enthusiasts! 💪
Have to confess that I watched it in two parts. But what an EV adventure that was 👌 Glad you got some new impressions of the eastern part of Europe. And I am glad, that I am not the only one for whom finding new (exotic) charging locations on a road trip is half of the fun 😂
Bulgaria has one of the best EV infrastructure in Eastern Europe. There are plenty of chargers over 150kW (mostly Fines and ElDrive). I am using them every year while crossing from Romania to Greece.
Epic, love the Taycan roadtripping!! 🤩 Good to know there is now more HPC than lacking Ionity in Easter Europe. Can't wait to see Alpitronic hitting the US!
Wow! Amazing work guys! That Taycan is amazing, wish I would have one for this August... Planning to make a 4000 mile return round trip from Wales to Romania in a 2020 Hyundai Kona 64 kWh premium SE and it's gonna be absolutely epic! Keep up the good work!
Fun fact: You can see A LOT of gen 1 Taycans in Turkey because when it first came out, the usually extremely high vehicle tax didn't apply to electric cars, so many people bought Taycans for the price of a regular Audi A4. Then of course the government changed the taxing scheme and the price of the Taycans doubled overnight. Also, the name Taycan is Turkish. "Tay" meaning young horse and "can" meaning life/soul. So it kind of means "the spirit of a young horse" in Turkish. Kind of, because it's just a combination of two words.
Most folks to avoid visas would stay in European Union then directly cross into Turkia. That means driving from Germany via Austria, continuing through Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, then crossing into Turkia. However if I would drive with family I would go scenic route from Austria to Italy, along Appenin peninsula to Bari, take the ferry from Italy to Greece, drive through Greece, then cross into Turkia. This way is only one border crossing with paperwork control altogether. The good news the ferry is overnight, instead of staying in a hotel. The latter option is obviously preferable while driving EVs.
Ha, for sure. I was laughing since I live in Kansas, like 20 minutes from a giant sunflower farm that tons of people go to and take selfies. Kyle would hate that
What a beautiful road trip! Also great countries many would otherwise not experience. I do wonder.. what is up with the fear of sunflowers? Never heard of such a thing.
Thanks a lot for this awesome experience ! ! ! i have done something similar with my Model 3 LR, 2 years ago from Spain till Greece, round trip and of course i am preparing to do it again with my new Model S Plaid. With Tesla Supercharges is a complete different story, so i would like to ask if you had problems downloading the apps for charging or putting your billing information etc ? Specially in the Balkan vicinity. Thumbs up for the awesome trip ! 🚗
Hey Kyle, great video! If you ever want to explore Bulgaria with an EV give me a call - I have a local youtube EV channel that I started about an year ago trying to change the mindset that EVs are dull and slow to charge :)
I should show that charger in Bulgaria to my work. I work in Reston VA and they tell me it they are never installing L2 chargers at any buildings from here on out.
Don’t know if you got to drive over the bridge to Asia - when I was working near Yalova we used to travel from the old Istanbul Airport to Yalova over the bridge until the Bosporus Tunnel opened and then we went to and from Yalova (on the Asian side) under the sea! I also did the trip by hydrofoil / high speed ferry a couple of times
Thanks a lot for your welcome and your constant good mood Kyle ! 👌
