5 albums selling over 11 million units in US and Canada alone, in constant rotation for years on Mtv and radio, and Hall of Famers is underrated? What does one need to do to get rated anyway? 😁

Working for the Weekend, This Could be the Night, and Almost Paradise (his duet with Ann Wilson from Heart for the Footloose movie) are ALL amazing songs to check out. Back in 1982 I was in my first year at Art college. We were on a bus to Liverpool and I was sat next to a quiet kid called John Fish. He had a Walkman, a device I'd not seen before and I asked if I could try them. He handed it over, and I was blown away by the quality of the sound. They seemed magical, amazing bass sound and this drum sound I'd not heard before. I was mesmerised and asked him who the band was. He said Loverboy, a band I'd not heard of, and this quiet kid, who nobody talked to was listening to them. I'll never forget John Fish, the Walkman or Loverboy. I don't know what happened to John Fish, and I never got to own a 'real' Walkman, but I did go and buy a Loverboy album the next day. Their sound was never as good as that day on the bus, so can I recommend you listen to Loverboy on some great headphones. And if John Fish is reading this, thanks John, it's one of those great memories that is precious to me.

Love this song. I like the album version even better which is about two minutes longer.
It is a shame that this song did not do better on the Hot 100 where it peaked at #35. Mike Reno has said that the record label refused to keep promoting the song. Had it done so, it quite possibly could have been a Top 10 hit.
My sister developed COVID in September, and became seriously ill. Things were looking bad for her, and I decided to try and cheer her up by texting her songs from Loverboy and Journey. She began to turn the corner, and after three weeks in the hospital and rehab, she was able to go home. She said that these songs, along with lots of prayers, pulled her through. I wish that I could get in touch with both of these bands and tell them personally how grateful I am that their music made a difference in someone's life.

Searches conducted by the Coast Guard and a private company hired by friends and family were unsuccessful. Smith was pronounced missing presumed dead, lost at sea. This was my first "no parents" concert i ever went to. it was sometime in the very early 80s, and i was around 15 or so years old. Billy Squire was the opening act. I got wasted, lost all my friends, and made out with some big girl i never saw again, It was good times!

The guitarist Paul Dean has a great voice too that compliments Mike Reno's lead vocals very well. They have several multi-platinum albums. About 20 years ago the bassist got washed overboard from a boat and I don't think they ever found him. "Working for the Weekend" "It's Over" and Mike's duet with Ann Wilson "Almost Paradise " are all excellent.

On 30 November 2000, Scott Smith was sailing his boat, the 11-metre (36-foot) Sea Major, with two friends off the coast of San Francisco near the Golden Gate Bridge, when a large wave swept him overboard. Searches conducted by the Coast Guard and a private company hired by friends and family were unsuccessful. Smith was pronounced missing presumed dead, lost at sea. In 2001 Ken "Spider" Sinnaeve, a former member of The Guess Who, Red Rider and Dean and Frenette's pre-Loverboy band Streetheart, joined the band on bass.

When you are 16 (barely) and hear it on the radio twice one day, and then, wander into the mall on the way home from school, head over to the record store and buy the album. Then you are home, and turn on your ridiculously large stereo, with the very fancy record player, and watch as the stylus settles softly between tracks, and then, 4 huge speakers shout into existence and the neighbours all get a chance to listen to Turn Me Loose when it first came out in Canada! Long hair was a fun time lol.
