Early May 2003. 14 members of the Royal Air Force were travelling through the hot evening of the Saudi Arabian desert land. 16 hour days for 5 months non stop under the 140 degree heat. Every single one was tired, depressed and broken both physically and mentally. The broken A/C occasionally coughing out a brief cool breeze providing the only bit of relief. They are on their way back to the barracks for some food and then a much needed sleep. All inside the battered, dusty people carrier were just wishing to be home in Blighty. It's deathly quiet until the front passenger switches on the radio. It's British Forces Broadcasting Service. The DJ does he usual spiel about whatever, no-one is paying any attention. And then 4 Non Blondes starts to play. The volume is down low but one lone voice at the back of the vehicle can be barely heard mumbling the words as he looks out of the window upon the bleak landscape. A second voice is then heard singing quietly. Soon more voices join in. The radio's volume is turned up. The voices join it in volume. The chorus hits for the first time and every one of the 14 people are unashamedly singing along. The volume goes up again on the radio and again the voices join it. It's now at the second chorus and the radio is being drowned out by those 14 previously broken individuals. The song ends, the dial is turned down and each person goes back to looking out of the windows once more. Only now they are a little happier, a little less despondent and broken. " Just one more month. We can do this. Just one more month" and all was right with the world for a short while again. Mine was that first lone voice and I have to thank this song and this band for getting me and 13 other Airmen through that last month.

I'm 57 and this has been a song that's been kind of my " anthem " since it came out till this day . For me it's about being in recovery . If you listen to the lyrics , place yourself in that world before , during and after .
This was such a hopeful song in the early ‘90s. It’s frustrating that we still haven’t accomplished the goals here. I and many friends were in the Navy, in the aftermath of Desert Storm, hoping for a better destination.
It's so impactful especially rn...everything is so damned fucked up...After my moms stroke she was so mad and I would put her in my car and we would fly down old country roads and just scream this song out...she passed in 07, I still love this song..
Thank you and your friends so much for being a great success for your bravery in the navy for this I say thank you i am very grateful for you and many other military heroes who keep us 🇺🇸 free May God bless you all
One of the great hits of the 90s! Great reaction :) When it came out in the early summer of '93 I think many people already knew it was a classic and would be remembered. Small local bands were learning the chords and the words and singing it in public places almost immediately, even in non-English speaking countries in Europe (I was 19 at the time) - which doesn't really happen very often with such new songs.
Have Always Loved this song. And I agree sh has such a versatile level of vocals and quite a voice. Loved the Reaction♥️ And I Think It's So Awesome that you can open your soul the way you do to all the different types of music that is out there. True to yourself and true to the music industry.
I am so glad you did this video. This song is one of the songs that finally turned me on to Rock/Alternative rock/grunge music. Linda Perry is amazing. She had an amazing song writing career and did a lot of stuff with Pink, and helped her be who she is today. It's too bad they had no more hits after this, but this entire album is awesome.
It’s crazy how a song that was very integral in your childhood is a song that some people have never even heard. Good reaction this song is very great 👍
I first heard it when it was released to MTV in (decades ago). I immediately bought it and have loved it since then. It was used to great effect in the Netfix show "Sense8". It's such a relatable song to pretty much anyone who is a human, and I love it, even almost 30 years later.
The lead singer of 4 non blondes is Linda Perry. She has one of the most powerful voices in the business but now spends her time representing people like pink. I wish Linda would return to singing
4 Non Blondes the groups only put out this one fantastic album before breaking up, but the lead singer Linda Perry has been writing and producing hits for other artists ever since, most notably Pink's "Get the Party Started", and Christine Aguilera's "Beautiful". She was inducted into the songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2015, and was married to Sara Gilbert of "Roseanne" "The Conners" and "The Talk"

I really have always loved this song back when it was released. It was powerful! And now it's become the anthem for Netflix's Sense8!! They really brought this song back and made it even more powerful than before!
I could only say good about Linda, Perry,! I'm listening to music since 1958, can't recall a more powerful singer. Also a beautiful voice. Definitely a gift from God! Her voice can never be duplicated. I'm astonished this was their only hit. Definitely she needs to be on the charts now!!!!
The album didn't get the recognition it deserved. Linda is amazing. Homeless, addiction, and then instant fame. Morphine and Chocolate, Dear Mr President, Spaceman. All worth a listen. Also check out Pink covering this song with Linda playing accoustic next to her.
I loved this song when it came out! I never got any of their other music because I was soooo broke then, and therefore dependent on the just the radio, but I’m happy for the reminder! I’ll go back and check out more of their work now!
Pink often throws this one in her concerts... and everyone knows the words and sings along. I relate to it as I was 25 when it came out and it was easy to learn/ play 3 chords etc

Yeah, this was their only hit, but Linda Perry went on to become a MAJOR songwriter behind a lot of pop acts (Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, P!nk, Gwen Stefani, Courtney Love, and Kelly Osbourne), and she ended up marrying the actress/talk show host Sarah Gilbert (an even bigger 90s icon, thanks to her star turn as Darlene on the classic hit sitcom, Roseanne). The only other songs of 4 Non-Blondes' I personally recommend are "Spaceman" and "Dear Mr. President", two other singles from the album that charted poorly. They just aren't as epic as "What's Up", though.
Linda Perry has added to her hats. Along with being a singer/song writter is also a music producer and owns 2 music labels. She has collaborated with Pink, Christina Aguilera, Adele, and many others. Very talented woman.

Always pictures of 'Princess'..various poses..outfits..etc. She brought he boyfriend in one day and as she stood and looked through her pictures..this song came on the store system. It was if lightning struck her! She dropped the pictures..turned to friend and belted this out like she was the microphone of an outdoor concert.!! I was so taken aback by this. Not so much by the song...but the performance that she sweetly shared. Some of us dance like no ones watching...and I guess some of us sing..like no ones listening.. The boyfriend..disappeared out the door in embarrassment. But we loved it. It made our day..:)

Absolutely love Linda Perry, she has one of those voices you never forget. You should also check out Concrete Blonde. There is a video of the live acoustic version of the song "Joey" from Hangin' with MTV from back in the day that Johnette Napolitano absolutely kills it. Her voice on it is unforgettable, one of the best live voices I've ever heard.
