Wonderful stable of bikes! I have a 2002 ZZR1200 and a 2018 KLR 650 that I need to button up. Time and weather are always my issues. A Calico Cat! Besides being beautiful are excellent mousers. I grew up on a farm in Illinois and those Calicos were always working. Happy 2024!

Love seeing your series 2 interceptor, I always wanted one of those after seeing a brand new one in Elite motors in tooting, needless to say it was gone the next day and I never saw another one until around 30 years later, now they are just too expensive to even contemplate so seeing the occasional one now is an absolute delight, thank you

I love the voice and Suffolk accent. When I first came to Cambridgeshire in the seventies I used to hear many Cambridgeshire accents but now they are almost extinct. Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire were all similar but unique in their own ways. Very envious of the shed space! Happy New Year.

l have never had a garage to use in 45 years of biking, i'm so jealous. l really hate working on my bikes in the road you never know when you pop back indoors whether your tools will go missing hahaha. That moped rally sounds like a laugh hope we get some footage of it. Happy new year to you bud 👍

I had the pleasure to ride 83' VT500 for many kilometers. It was my boss's bike but rode it more then he for one summer .. That was first of the VT series bikes. The later Transalp, Africa twins and the Tourers use a derivative of that engine. I love the engine, very balanced for a V-twin on 54° crankshaft. Love the shaft drive too. Look at the current rebel 500 and 1100 models from Honda, they look terrible, use chain drives and are not that comfortable for a cruisers at all. Not to mention almost non existent front fenders that are just for show.. One puddle and you are drenched. Who designs this new things? /rhetorical question/ .. I may not know the British brands that well but surely know old J bikes very well. Sorry for the long comment, waiting for the moped video .. I love those things too.
@Stefan_trekkie No apology needed for the long comment! The VT range went right down to the VT125 shadow, same engine as the 125 Varadero (I have one!) Absolutely bullet proof! Before the VT1300, I had the VTX1300, same motor but the VT is fuel injected. All bomb proof! Happy new year!

Happy New Year Mr. Brown. I don't expect answers to my comments, it's fine. The moped I owned as a 16 year old would just about do 50mph on the flat but it was happier at 45. It was a 1977 Suzuki AP50. I paid £230 for it in 1980. There's one on Ebay at the moment for nearly £11,000.
If you're anything like me you'll get the "How many bikes do you need,you've only one arse?" . I look at the wife's shoe cupboard and say "And you only have two feckin feet!" . Brilliant eclectic collection. I only use the word eclectic to appear educated,I have no idea what it means.
The first time I ever heard of a bullet was in 1982, January, issue of one of the motorcycle magazines we get here in the United States. The name of the article written by an Englishman, by the name that will come to me any minute now.. it was so well written, and so interesting He flew in from the UK into Delhi I believe it was India. And he worked his way to the factory that sells Indian Enfield motorcycles, not royal Enfield… he said the taxi driver taking him to the factory to buy a new bullet 350 tried to talk him into buying a used two stroke motorcycle made in India also. Then he ended up in some office somewhere getting some legal things in order for visitors from out of country, and a Government bureaucrat behind the desk, asked him when he said, he’s buying a bullet, she said, why would you not buy a Yesdi.. he felt there was definitely a conspiracy to influence him into buying one of those But he ended up getting his Indian enfield bullet.. complete with a hand painted license plate that the paint was still tacky his first ride on the machine, he only got far enough away from the factory, where he bought the machine, to make it impractical to walk back when he ran out of gas. He said they must have measured the amount of gas put in that machine with an eyedropper… another thing he almost had happen on his first ride was, he almost ran into a brick wall, because the brakes did not work at all. They were so far out of adjustment and not bedded in with that shoe front brake… he told how he was in a hotel room that he rented for the night one night, and at 2 o’clock in the morning they pounded on the door and wanted additional payment because they had just raised the rate.. someone on a bicycle fell down in front of him, and he hit the man squarely in the chest with his front wheel. A mob surrounded him but a policeman saved him, and convinced the man to accept 5 pounds as payment for his injuries. But he said if he had hit a cow, the crowd would have probably killed him. in India, it’s considered bad manners to run into people, but it is unforgivable to hit a cow.. when he did his first oil change at another place, where he was renting a room for the night, a man showed up with a pan to catch the oil that was in the machine during its initial break in. The man proceeded to drain the oil out of his bullet, and put that breaking Noyle in his personal bike.. he wanted to go into China on his travels, but he was unable to cross the border with the motorcycle. So he had to leave it at the guard shack for a number of days while he toured parts of China, where they meet at the Indian, Chinese border… I just remembered the guys name. David Messent ( spelling ??) The name of that wonderful story that I have forgotten most of was “overland to aussie”.. David was taking a six month trip all around India and Pakistan. Then he was going to work his way over to catch a ship to Australia where he was going to live from then on. he ran into other UK, riders, riding triumphs, one of them had bent, pushrod’s, and he had to wait a few days for new pushrods to come in and other gaskets and parts necessary to do that job.. he said in India, there is no where you can go in one of the cities that you don’t have a crowd of people staring at you inches away at times.. kids begging for coins.. well, fed, looking young mothers, rubbing their stomachs implying, they were hungry, holding equally well fed looking babies.. I have pretty much every motorcycle magazine I had subscriptions to from the late 60s up until around 2010 when the motorcycle magazines here in the United States really lowered their standards, and we’re more interested in showing pictures of someone doing a burnout or a wheelie, instead of evaluating and showing the engine disassembled on the bench like they used to do.. The magazines I still have boxed up are very well thumbed magazines from cycle, world, cycle, motorcyclist, and what I feel was the best one, cycle guide.. I had to keep up with the latest from Japan because I was a motorcycle salesman, especially during the golden age of motorcycle development in the mid 60s through the mid 80s before the Harley Davidson tariff crippled the motorcycle industry in this country, which has never recovered from that 45% tariff applied to imported motorcycles by President Ronald Reagan, to save the 600 Harley Davidson workersj jobs .. within two years of vet tariff going into affect in the mid-1980s, more than 1100 Japanese motorcycle dealers went bankrupt we’re out of business totally. The average number of employees at those 1100 shops was seven. I worked as a mechanic and three Japanese motorcycle shops in the early 70s before I got a real job. there were 18 full-time employees at one of the shops I worked at it’s sold Hondas and Yamaha‘s. I was one of the seven full-time mechanics. They had a full-time service manager, to full-time new bike builders. They could not build them fast enough… there were 22 Japanese motorcycle dealerships within an hour of my home in the late 70s early 80s. I sold motorcycles part time in three of those shops evenings, and Saturdays from February through May every year for 17 years… today, here in 2024, there are only three Japanese motorcycle dealerships left. They are survivors that were in business since the 50s family owned, family members running the place. And they already owned the buildings before the tariff… I never had an English motorcycle. In fact, it only Road one. Eight triumph 650 Bonneville. A guy I knew asked me if I wanted to buy it. I knew who he was but we didn’t run in the same circles. I took it for a test ride, maybe 2 miles. I was too much into Japanese two strokes at the time. So I wasn’t interested, I had a 1972 Kawasaki 352 stroke triple S2 at the time… I found out a couple weeks later that he took it far into the country and just rode it into a lake and collected the insurance on it, claiming it was stolen. It’s probably still there. That was 1972.. I never had a Harley either. They’ve never made anything I like.. which brings me to the point. I am interested in these Enfield 650s and the Himalaya motorcycle made by Royal Enfield. There is actually a dealer near me. It’s one of those dealers that is a survivor of the Harley tariff that was in business for decades. They sell Honda, Kawasaki. triumphs, Harley Davidson, and royal Enfield.. i’m not interested in riding fast anymore. I’ve had eight years of road racing where I won championships. I’ve had RZ 350, TZ 250, many many RDs, Kawasaki, triples, even a Bridgestone 350 GTR complete with six speed, dry clutch, the cylinders bores were chromed (just like the cylinders on my Yamaha road racers and my 4 moto guzzi’s had hard plated bores, Croom in the 70s, then,nicasil .. I started my own, TH-cam channel about motorcycles and maintenance and some of my current bikes in my recent bikes .. and ride along videos with my helmet, mounted cameras, rolling.. just riding around within about 150 miles of where I live here in Western Pennsylvania nearby Pittsburgh.. I recently bought a Honda NT 700 because of the opinions, the UK riders half of that machine. it’s a 2010, I bought it from the original buyer, he just quit riding years ago. It only has 7400 miles on it. And, of course, this is the first time in over 40 years I broke down 40 miles from home. This is a guess, but in my videos of the problem and the investigation, I found it the owner after our phone call, told me that he did put stabilizer in the fuel. Because I asked if he had ever put anything in the gas. Before he stopped riding the bike. In my video I show. All of the stuff that came out of the gas tank on that NT 700 deauville.. i’ve never seen anything like it ever. At the same time, I’ve never worked on a machine that had stabilizer in the gas. I think it’s more than a coincidence… anyway, I enjoy your videos, and I will be watching I have subscribed. And I am interested in finding out what these royal Enfield’s are like from someone that has your critical experienced eye..

@NickHellings-zq8xt It could have been a Triumph, Honda or any other make. These things can happen! I wasn't worried because of the full 3 year warranty and the speed that RE got it sorted was very impressive. It's fixed now and should be a reliable bike.

Had different makes of bikes over the years . The bike I loved the best was my Triumph 650 Boni pre unit construction 1961 should have kept its there go what can I say but in was getting married so needed the money. All my old mates keep telling to get a Royal Enfield 350 so what do you think as never had an Enfield would appreciate get your opinion. I had the pleasure to ride 83' VT500 for many kilometers. It was my boss's bike but rode it more then he for one summer .. That was first of the VT series bikes. The later Transalp, Africa twins and the Tourers use a derivative of that engine. I love the engine, very balanced for a V-twin on 54° crankshaft. Love the shaft drive too. Look at the current rebel 500 and 1100 models from Honda, they look terrible, use chain drives and are not that comfortable for a cruisers at all. Not to mention almost non existent front fenders that are just for show.. One puddle and you are drenched. Who designs this new things? /rhetorical question/ .. I may not know the British brands that well but surely know old J bikes very well. Sorry for the long comment, waiting for the moped video .. I love those things too.
@Stefan_trekkie No apology needed for the long comment! The VT range went right down to the VT125 shadow, same engine as the 125 Varadero (I have one!) Absolutely bullet proof! Before the VT1300, I had the VTX1300, same motor but the VT is fuel injected. All bomb proof! Happy new year!

Happy New Year Mr. Brown. I don't expect answers to my comments, it's fine. The moped I owned as a 16 year old would just about do 50mph on the flat but it was happier at 45. It was a 1977 Suzuki AP50. I paid £230 for it in 1980. There's one on Ebay at the moment for nearly £11,000.

The first time I ever heard of a bullet was in 1982, January, issue of one of the motorcycle magazines we get here in the United States. The name of the article written by an Englishman, by the name that will come to me any minute now..
it was so well written, and so interesting
He flew in from the UK into Delhi I believe it was India. And he worked his way to the factory that sells Indian Enfield motorcycles, not royal Enfield…
he said the taxi driver taking him to the factory to buy a new bullet 350 tried to talk him into buying a used two stroke motorcycle made in India also. Then he ended up in some office somewhere getting some legal things in order for visitors from out of country, and a Government bureaucrat behind the desk, asked him when he said, he’s buying a bullet, she said, why would you not buy a Yesdi.. he felt there was definitely a conspiracy to influence him into buying one of those
But he ended up getting his Indian enfield bullet.. complete with a hand painted license plate that the paint was still tacky
his first ride on the machine, he only got far enough away from the factory, where he bought the machine, to make it impractical to walk back when he ran out of gas. He said they must have measured the amount of gas put in that machine with an eyedropper…
another thing he almost had happen on his first ride was, he almost ran into a brick wall, because the brakes did not work at all. They were so far out of adjustment and not bedded in with that shoe front brake…
he told how he was in a hotel room that he rented for the night one night, and at 2 o’clock in the morning they pounded on the door and wanted additional payment because they had just raised the rate..
someone on a bicycle fell down in front of him, and he hit the man squarely in the chest with his front wheel. A mob surrounded him but a policeman saved him, and convinced the man to accept 5 pounds as payment for his injuries. But he said if he had hit a cow, the crowd would have probably killed him. in India, it’s considered bad manners to run into people, but it is unforgivable to hit a cow..
when he did his first oil change at another place, where he was renting a room for the night, a man showed up with a pan to catch the oil that was in the machine during its initial break in. The man proceeded to drain the oil out of his bullet, and put that breaking Noyle in his personal bike..
he wanted to go into China on his travels, but he was unable to cross the border with the motorcycle. So he had to leave it at the guard shack for a number of days while he toured parts of China, where they meet at the Indian, Chinese border…

The name of that wonderful story that I have forgotten most of was “overland to aussie”..
David was taking a six month trip all around India and Pakistan. Then he was going to work his way over to catch a ship to Australia where he was going to live from then on.
he ran into other UK, riders, riding triumphs, one of them had bent, pushrod’s, and he had to wait a few days for new pushrods to come in and other gaskets and parts necessary to do that job.. he said in India, there is no where you can go in one of the cities that you don’t have a crowd of people staring at you inches away at times.. kids begging for coins..
well, fed, looking young mothers, rubbing their stomachs implying, they were hungry, holding equally well fed looking babies..
I have pretty much every motorcycle magazine I had subscriptions to from the late 60s up until around 2010 when the motorcycle magazines here in the United States really lowered their standards, and we’re more interested in showing pictures of someone doing a burnout or a wheelie, instead of evaluating and showing the engine disassembled on the bench like they used to do..
The magazines I still have boxed up are very well thumbed magazines from cycle, world, cycle, motorcyclist, and what I feel was the best one, cycle guide.. I had to keep up with the latest from Japan because I was a motorcycle salesman, especially during the golden age of motorcycle development in the mid 60s through the mid 80s before the Harley Davidson tariff crippled the motorcycle industry in this country, which has never recovered from that 45% tariff applied to imported motorcycles by President Ronald Reagan, to save the 600 Harley Davidson workersj jobs .. within two years of vet tariff going into affect in the mid-1980s, more than 1100 Japanese motorcycle dealers went bankrupt we’re out of business totally. The average number of employees at those 1100 shops was seven. I worked as a mechanic and three Japanese motorcycle shops in the early 70s before I got a real job. there were 18 full-time employees at one of the shops I worked at it’s sold Hondas and Yamaha‘s. I was one of the seven full-time mechanics. They had a full-time service manager, to full-time new bike builders. They could not build them fast enough…
there were 22 Japanese motorcycle dealerships within an hour of my home in the late 70s early 80s. I sold motorcycles part time in three of those shops evenings, and Saturdays from February through May every year for 17 years… today, here in 2024, there are only three Japanese motorcycle dealerships left. They are survivors that were in business since the 50s family owned, family members running the place. And they already owned the buildings before the tariff…
I never had an English motorcycle. In fact, it only Road one. Eight triumph 650 Bonneville. A guy I knew asked me if I wanted to buy it. I knew who he was but we didn’t run in the same circles. I took it for a test ride, maybe 2 miles. I was too much into Japanese two strokes at the time. So I wasn’t interested, I had a 1972 Kawasaki 352 stroke triple S2 at the time…
I found out a couple weeks later that he took it far into the country and just rode it into a lake and collected the insurance on it, claiming it was stolen. It’s probably still there. That was 1972.. I never had a Harley either. They’ve never made anything I like..
which brings me to the point. I am interested in these Enfield 650s and the Himalaya motorcycle made by Royal Enfield. There is actually a dealer near me. It’s one of those dealers that is a survivor of the Harley tariff that was in business for decades. They sell Honda, Kawasaki. triumphs, Harley Davidson, and royal Enfield..
i’m not interested in riding fast anymore. I’ve had eight years of road racing where I won championships. I’ve had RZ 350, TZ 250, many many RDs, Kawasaki, triples, even a Bridgestone 350 GTR complete with six speed, dry clutch, the cylinders bores were chromed (just like the cylinders on my Yamaha road racers and my 4 moto guzzi’s had hard plated bores, Croom in the 70s, then,nicasil ..
I started my own, TH-cam channel about motorcycles and maintenance and some of my current bikes in my recent bikes .. and ride along videos with my helmet, mounted cameras, rolling.. just riding around within about 150 miles of where I live here in Western Pennsylvania nearby Pittsburgh..
I recently bought a Honda NT 700 because of the opinions, the UK riders half of that machine. it’s a 2010, I bought it from the original buyer, he just quit riding years ago. It only has 7400 miles on it. And, of course, this is the first time in over 40 years I broke down 40 miles from home. This is a guess, but in my videos of the problem and the investigation, I found it the owner after our phone call, told me that he did put stabilizer in the fuel. Because I asked if he had ever put anything in the gas. Before he stopped riding the bike. In my video I show. All of the stuff that came out of the gas tank on that NT 700 deauville.. i’ve never seen anything like it ever. At the same time, I’ve never worked on a machine that had stabilizer in the gas. I think it’s more than a coincidence…
anyway, I enjoy your videos, and I will be watching I have subscribed. And I am interested in finding out what these royal Enfield’s are like from someone that has your critical experienced eye..

As a hardcore Enfield owner, it must be a bit disappointing having those problems with the new Interceptor.
@NickHellings-zq8xt It could have been a Triumph, Honda or any other make. These things can happen! I wasn't worried because of the full 3 year warranty and the speed that RE got it sorted was very impressive. It's fixed now and should be a reliable bike.

Happy New Year to you to. Just come across your channel and like you I’m an old biker of 79 rode bikes since I was 17 but just had to sell my Honda 1100 Shadow to big and heavy for me now. Had different makes of bikes over the years . The bike I loved the best was my Triumph 650 Boni pre unit construction 1961 should have kept its there go what can I say but in was getting married so needed the money. All my old mates keep telling to get a Royal Enfield 350 so what do you think as never had an Enfield would appreciate get your opinion. I think the mountings are a little different.
