As a father of two, it is nice to hear stories of dads and their struggles as they learn how to best love and care for their children because it is necessary for us dads to appreciate the journey of being dads. Fathers are just as important in raising a child as moms. It means so much to the wife as it does for the child for a father to be nurturing, encouraging and engaging. Thanks for sharing your story Ben.
I’m not one to comment on your videos often (I watch them all though!). I just really want to appreciate Ben’s honestly and openness to emotional support. There’s so much stigma around men’s mental health and it’s great you’re showing that it’s okay and normal to feel emotional distress. I’m so happy your family has gone through this process in such an intelligent, emotional and sensible way and to see that family mental health is so important for everyone (Mum’s and dad’s and kids)!
Yes, ABSOLUTELY it's so very important to be aware and compassionate to new fathers and mothers' mental state. Post Partum Depression can hit people in very different ways and just like I had a difficult time speaking about my recovery (for literally months which is why it took so long for me to film that video) it's been incredibly hard for Ben to talk about those early months as well. Truthfully he was doing SUCH a huge portion of the baby care, diapers, rocking to sleep, cooking, cleaning, etc while I was healing that first month because I was unable to get out of bed. It's so shocking emotionally and physically and we both didn't expect things would be that way but I know next time we will be so much stronger and better mentally prepared!
Lena Kree yesss I agree, Lena! I want to show this to my fiancé once we get married and start thinking about babies ☺️ Thank you Jen and Ben for sharing your story with us!
I cried so much hearing Ben shared his side of the story. I can't wait for my husband and I to have a baby too. We've been married for 2 years and been praying since then. You're blessed Jen and Ben for having Aria ❤️
serenity beauty it took us 2 years to get pregnant and then I had an early miscarriage.. it can be a rough journey, lots of heartbreak and doubt. I wish you all the best. I have a 1 year old now, she's such a happy baby, definitely worth the wait. She brings me pure joy. But I do remember the time that I would get upset every time I noticed a baby or pregnant woman.. wondering if it would ever happen for me.
Hey guys thank you SO much for watching the video and being there for us as a family. If you'd like to check out Ben's instagram (his daily stories Aria are sooooo cute) you can follow him at instagram.com/ben.ja.mins/ 👨👩👧
Love both your stories. My babies are all grown now but I get such a kick out of watching Aria grow! The noises she makes when she loves her food...❤️precious family💕
@Nellie, while you comment is absolutely true, it is irrelevant in this comment thread. I don't think anyone here is suggesting that men are the only problem, but truth is, A LOT of men (and a lot of women who have never given birth, too!) truly don't understand how severe of an affect postpartum can have on a woman, not just physically, but even more so mentally. (And don't say suck it up, buttercup. These are true chemical / hormonal changes that aren't something you can just "get over it.") Of course it takes both sides to make a marriage work and women can be the issue just as much as men, but we are strictly talking about pregnancy/child birth/postpartum/etc. here. And also, feminism isn't what you think it means... If other feminists in your life gave you that impression, those are the wrong kinds.
What a wonderful husband you have. You can tell how much love and respect you both have for each other. I wish more men were like Ben, the world would benefit.
Awwwwwww. Ben is a sweetheart and so respectful and loving, you are both meant for each other. Such a beautiful video. Thanks for sharing this us. Just beautiful.
Your husband gave you a lot of compassion and support during your pregnancy and after, it was very refreshing to hear his side. Congratulations on your beautiful baby.
You two are husband and wife goals. The definition of soul mates. I loved hearing Ben's take on fatherhood, because it's the side we don't usually focus on. I teared up when he talked about holding her for the first time. Your love for each other and Aria is so beautiful. May you continue to be blessed in love ❤️❤️
Every single time we see Aria, she just looks so happy! It must be because she knows she has the most loving, positive parents ever! What a beautiful family! Seriously Aria is the CUTEST HAPPIEST baby I've ever seen!
I agree, most Post Partum stories are heard from moms. However, it's also helpful to have an idea of what new dads are experiencing. Thank you, Jen and Ben for inspiring people. God bless your beautiful family more!
I commented this before I had finished the video, and now that I have finished it I just want to add that I'm literally crying a little lol. God bless you guys
Brought back so many memories of when my kids were born! There truly is nothing like being a dad! I had a tshirt that said, " Fatherhood, the toughest job you'll ever love" so true!
Teared up at so many points 😭 currently have a 9month old and it is so amazing. Parenthood is the hardest thing yet the most rewarding and most beautiful thing ever my husband and I've gone through together.
I had a very easy recovery after the birth body wise, but I had PPD and with the changes going on when my baby was born..I hated her newborn phase. I enjoyed her, I love her dearly, caring for her was wonderful, but at the same time I was depressed and I hated my life at times. So many things changed and it traumatized me. My furbabies are gone and I became THAT parent who had to rehome them for their benefit. My husband and I vented to each other, and we got closer, but we also fought. My two month maternity leave was hell, and she came six weeks early so I was not fully prepared. I can't imagine life without her, and she is now almost 11 months, but I am so traumatized I blocked out those few months. It's not all rainbows when a baby comes into the world, so thank you for being honest with these videos to show people the truth.
Thank for this post listening to Ben I realized how supportive my husband was during my pregnancy and all and how i never bother to thanks him for that .
Thank you both for sharing your journeys, for being so raw and real. You guys are amazing role models for the world today. The empathy, love, gentleness, passion, determination both of you show triumphs all. I don’t have a kid yet, nor married, (nor in a relationship) but you guys make me excited for what’s to come! Your love is beautiful. God bless!
Did not expect to cry this much watching this video, but it is really awesome to also hearing the father's side of everything, which is definitely not talked about as much. Thank you for doing this. This makes me look forward to having a family in the future.
You made so many great points about how new dads can struggle too. I don't have kids but if my husband and I ever do I will be sure to remember this video and thank him for all the sacrifices he is making. Thank you Jen and Ben for sharing such a personal story with all of us. You guys are incredibly brave and inspiring.
"Moms, you guys are ridiculous" -Ben 😩 it's one of the Best Compliments any mom could ever get. Thank you Ben for recognizing how "ridiculously" hard being a mom is. God bless your beautiful family!Aria is one blessed baby to have you two and soooo cute & adorable
I gave birth about 8 months ago and watching this made me reminisce my entire pregnancy and I couldn't help but cry. Ben was so understanding and considerate about everything. It was nice to hear the fathers side of the story.
Can echo what you guys mentioned. I had a hard pregnancy myself, but because it was so hard, I loved my baby and my husband so much more. Thanks so much for sharing! It's so important for the husband to also express his emotions and all too!!!
That was such a great video! So interesting to hear the dad side of the story. You always hear the moms but rarely get an insight of what the dads go through. Thanks Jen!
Ben, thank you so much for sharing your perspective as a husband and new father. I am really touched and gain a new understanding that fathers do experience a lot during pregnancy too.
Seriously, I am nearly 17 weeks pregnant with my first now and can barely get through this video. I am so emotional about it! It's been a journey for me to get here and I have also been with my husband a long time, nearly 12 years now. This was a wonderful video showing the pure bliss and struggle of trying to become a parent and finally being one.
Thank you for making this video. Bringing another human being is wonderful, but it also brings a lot of challenges. This video made me really emotional.Beautiful family!
Ben is such a sweet considerate husband😭😍 Its so true! you always hear the moms side of the story but truthfully its hard for both side. Im currently pregnant with my 2nd child and this time around i could feel how heavy my husband's shoulders are trying to take of the family in every aspects. Big thumbs up to dads out there too! They got alot of responsibility too! I also heard dads can grt post-partum depression too. love your mommyhood videos!! ♥️
OH my goodness this is such an amazing video!! Thank you for posting the mans side of things. That’s is so thoughtful and true! Of course the moms go through something very life changing but the dads as well and I appreciate you posting this
Jen, this is one of my favorite videos! So glad that Ben was able to share his side of experience. Thank you two for being so honest. And you two are so cute together.
Awww, you guys are really a cute couple and you can really tell how much you guys love each other. Blessed to be married to your best friend and someone so understanding! 💛
Thank you so, so much for making this precious video! My son is about to turn 8 months, and your video helped bring back a lot of memories along with a big reminder to remember and appreciate my husband's struggle as well. Thanks again!!
I have to say, I rarely leave comments on TH-cam videos (been watching this channel for forever though) but, I've loved this series so much. Both your experiences have mirrored so much of what my husband and I have experienced as new parents (our LO is almost 8 months now). It's so validating and comforting to hear you both speak so candidly about your journey. Thank you for sharing and for the unexpected support :).
Its nice to hear the father's side, you don't get to hear it often. For those of us who were first time moms and had to learn alone about newborn babies and Google was your only back up lol well I understand you but believe when I tell you that you'll appreciate your baby so much more because you were both getting to know each other. I can only say from personal experience, in those times of frustration and tiredness I held on to God and he helped me through it all. Now my baby is almost 4 months and I'm so excited to see what the future has instore for us. The key to being a good mother and a good partner is patience and wisdom and above all be open to suggestions from people who have been through it.
I'm not a mother and will probably not give birth to a child, but I totally love this series. Thanks for being open and honest about your experiences. Your story is thoughtful and inspiring. I wish you and your family all the best.
I can't get over how much Aria has grown. Like, time just seems to fly and every time she's featured in a video. I'm just blown away. Thank you for these type of videos btw....tbh I have tokophobia so pregnancy and the prospects of getting pregnant scare the living daylights out of me but I recognize that in itself, it's quite beautiful and it's such a joy to see the child after the birth and watching it grow. My 3 year old cousins has basically been living with my family since her birth and I'm in awe of how she's growing. Much like Ben said, it's so fun to take a kid somewhere and see them seeing something for the first time. Also, tbh.. I've got a little anxiety when it comes to relationships too ...When it comes to the men in my life, I haven't really had a good example as what it means to be a good husband but Ben gives me hope. It's very easy for me to forget that there are guys out there who are such decent fellows. So, thank you for that as well.
This is such a great video. Thank you both for being so honest and vulnerable about an intense time in your lives. It is so greatly appreciated. You two are fantastic parents!
I've always loved seeing Ben on his Snapchat stories while he was playing with little Aria! Also how incredibly she resembles him :) I've loved momtember. It's a pleasure seeing your videos!
This was so so emotional to watch Ive never even had a baby but it made me feel so many emotions. This was super insightful and beautiful to listen to!
Jen!!!! This video is gold. Having my daughter and how stressful and painful it was for me and my husband during the first year. I could relate in so many levels to everything you discussed. Thanks Ben for sharing your side too! :)
U have such a beautiful baby! shes the perfect mix of both u and ur husband! I love this series. watching the videos made me relive my own pregnancy, labour AND recovery and it was so emotionally charged! thank you
You guys are so inspiring! Your love and respect and understanding for eachother is so natural and evident! Thankyou for sharing :) Was so blessed by this.
This is so sweet!! Thank you for posting this video and sharing both sides of your experiences with pregnancy, birth, and life after baby. :D Congratulations on your family and I hope you all have a blessed life! Sending love and hugs!
Love this video, so great to hear the father's side of the journey. This video just reminds me of so much that my husband and I have gone through recently and it is definitely so hard to be new parents. But like Jen said just remember that all the hardship will pass and you will come out as a stronger couple and family ❤.
What an absolutely beautiful video Jen! I thought it was an interesting video hearing everything from your husband's point of view. I smiled the whole time! You both are an inspiration. So so happy for the both of you 😘😘♥️♥️
He is so soft- spoken. You guys look so happy
Ben sounds so "soft", almost soothing haha you guys are totally made for each other :)

Hey can you talk about your experience with cloth diapering, I am so nervous about it.
Ben is a keeper! Such a great supportive husband and father. You two are amazing parents!
Ben is such a great Dad. I follow him on Instagram and he shows so much love when he plays with Aria.
When you can totally see the married couple is besties :) I always see Ben's face from Aria ^^ Oreo in the back heeheehee
I literally wish my husband was this understanding....
Calm Heavens same 😕
Calm Heavens me too.....
Calm Heavens Me too. I was so filled with envy knowing how sweet, sensitive and understanding Ben is towards Jen. Lucky gal!
it's even sadder because how he is should be how EVERY husband/father should be, but it unfortunately is not the reality for a lot of women.
@Nellie, while you comment is absolutely true, it is irrelevant in this comment thread. Ben is such a wonderful father, so understanding, mature and respectful. Can't say so for mine.

You have no idea how blessed you are. Men these days are so insensitive and selfish. I wish you both health and happiness. God bless!!!
yiselba21 Insensitive and selfish? That is not biased at all...
Not just these days. Back in the old days too. Haha
You have probably been hanging out with the wrong crowd, for sure. Not everything is black and white.
yiselba21 we get what we deserve and jen is a great person so she also attracts a great guy too
I'm sure they've had their rough moments as well. They just only chose to show us the best parts of their relationship.
