It doesn't work like that. You have it 2 hdmi channels on monitor and it looks deceitful

It works fine for me - I use it for 2 inputs - 1 output, or more often with 1 input - 2 outputs for framegrabbing my AmigaOne X1000, where it doesn't boot if it is not outputting to the monitor.

It’s literally called bi directional, 1 input to 2 outputs is like a ps4 going to 2 different screens but at once. And 2 inputs to 1 output, ps4 and pc into one monitor being swapped with the press of a button
