As tech savvy as I am, I never knew that a combo splitter/switch was called a Matrix. Informative for those that need a switcher. I actually have two of the exact devices you showed.
I always put my Avi and HDMI switches in by the release date. Example NES 1 then Sega Genesis input 2. On the newer TV WiiU input 1 then Switch 2 and PS5 input 3.
If you find that you need even more inputs, you just chain the switches together, though you probably want to limit the number in the chain. You can do that by linking switches to a “concentrator” switch, which then goes out to the TV.
I haven't owned every model, but in my experiments this does not work for HDMI switches. Either the box does not recognize the other box, or the auto switching does not work, causing you to have to manually switch two boxes. I imagine the lag would be doubled too.
6:34 ... 6:42 An old matrix switch I own is a Toslink optical matrix switcher which, by contrast to the 2-in × 4-identical HDMI outputs exmaple shown, mine functions as 4-Input × 2- *_independent_* output... Are there good - 60Hz+ | 4k - matrix switchers which will allow two different screens to have access to the reservoir of source devices independently if not also simultaneously for each output?
I really like this kind of content and it's the reason why I subscribed to you. That being said, I'm very hesitant to get a HDMI switcher because I don't know how well it will handle HDR with Dolby vision, there'll be Atmos and HDR 10 and HDR 10+ and Various Refresh Rate.
I know they have ones for HDR. Another option though is to get a short HDMI cable that has one female end and one male end. Connect the male end to the back of the TV, and use the female end to manually switch between the consoles.
I have a problem where having multiple devices connected to the switch, and having them on at the same time, makes the switch toggle back and forth between them over and over automatically. Any idea why this is happening?
you can also hook this up too your capture card i got one too use on my capture card just put it in the hdmi input you just take the output put it in the input port on your capture card
Question! First loved the video, the switcher I currently use has my PS5 on input 1 and Nintendo switch on 2, but every time I turn my switch, the PS5 turns on, even just by turning on the hdmi where the switcher is. I also have a LG tv, does that happens to this kinivo device? Thanks!!
so if i were to switch to my nintendo switch, then back to my xbox series S my 120 hz and fps would still work on the xbox with the kinivo for example?
Thanks for your help in helping me remember the 1990s switcher technology that I once used in the 1990s. But I am also curious about one particular American component used by hard drive cloners. In my country's government they do not want us civilians to use their scan-copy-transfer (SCT IC Chip) IC chip which can scan incoming computer input, make multiple copies of it, and transfer one of each of these multiple copies to 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 individual CPUs that will process the WHOLE information and then they use an another component that receives the processed information and compare all of the results and once all are cross-referenced and are the same they are then combined as one information output which is then displayed on one or more computer monitor display. Does your American hard drive cloners can do the same? And what is the key component in your hard drive cloners that can make multiple duplicate copies of the 1st primary hard drives and then transfers those multiple duplicate copies to several tens of dozens of hard drives? Can you and somebody or anybody help me please? Maybe, just maybe that key critical component of your American hard drive cloners can do the same function as my country's government's (SCT IC Chip) Scan - Copy - Transfer IC Chip.
hello can u help i have a gaming setup i have ps5 and xbox x and a TV dedicated only for playing and a seperate pc desktop setup with seperate monitor for recording editing and live streaming i use elgato 4k pro in built in pc my question ? i want to use both xbox and ps5 connected to elgato how can i do that? should i use switch or splitter which is the best one everything i have is 4k@120hz
So I have one fire 4k tv with 1 2.1 ARC input. I also want to connect fire tv soundbar that also needs 2.1 ARC. Can I connect my soundbar and PS5 both connect to this switch which would be connected to my 2.1 port on my TV and work together at the same time?
Hi. I have DVR box, LG TV, N Switch, PS4, Wii, and a SONOS soundbar. I have a 5 port switch with ARC. I'm lost. TV has two HDMI, and the Optic port. 5 poet switch has 5 ports as well as the optic port. Any assistance would be gr8ly appreciated, as the instructions do nothing for me. Also, I am NOT tech savvy.
how do I make this work in tandem with my dual monitor setup for pc? I wanna hook up my switch and Xbox series s to my gaming desk but will I lose my dual screen for pc? I wanna upgrade to monitors since I have two 24in TV's. Would I have to get monitors with 2 HDMI ports? or is there a way to conserve the dual screen now and still keep the TV's so I don't have to drop hundi's to buy something new???????? Any help I can get I would appreciate!
I had a 4K 60hz hdmi switch and just recently upgraded a 4k120 hz hdmi switch. My ps5 and my android tv box works on it but my Nintendo switch doesn’t do you know why that is?
I have the exact same hdmi switch but mines won’t work with my ps5, are you using 2.1 hdmi cables for both connecting to the tv and connecting the console to the switch?
Im looking for an HDMI switch that will autodetect when i dock my handheld (steam deck) and switch to that input. And correspondingly, switch to my nvidia shield when the dock is empty. Any advice?
I test a kinivo on my samsung series 7 try to tests all the inputs with my firestick 1thru 5 input just to see if all inputs work properly one by one, all te sudden a my tv screen turned green with bars , also while the screen was green with bars there was a glowing circle wich that circle was part of my tv indicating it will load an app or etc. after the circle disappear my tv went back to normal, will it cause my tv to have problems because of the green screen please help
I wonder if the auto switching switches to the input it detects power on and or prioritizes input 1 over input 2, etc. if more than one is powered. Having a system always powered on like a PS5 may confuse it. Not sure about any of that.
Yes, they are known as passive. They can add signal degradation if you are using long cords. The powered ones renew the signal, for lack of a better term. Some may take some power from the HDMI cord and light up a red LED light, but from what I read, those don't renew the signal.
A splitter takes one source (one game system) and splits it so it can be seen on two TVs. A switch takes two or more systems, and just passes one of them through at a time, to one TV.
Good day sir, I just bought an HDMI Switcher and an HDMI Splitter. I am trying to hook it up so that I can record anything I want. Sense, the splitter disables HDCP. I am having the absolute worst time getting everything hooked up together! Literally, it’s driving me insane! Do you think that you might be willing to help me?
It may not be possible to have the splitter and switcher connected together. You may get a blank screen. If it does work, there are two ways to do it. 1) The HDMI coming out of the PS3 goes into the splitter, and one of outputs for the splitter goes into the switch box. Or 2) the output coming out of the switcher goes into the splitter.
I feel like these are either overprice or are you just get a piece of junk in general, I doubt I would ever order another one from AliExpress. Your video is great the links worked and I’ve been able to update my wish list thank you very much!

Nonsense! This is not recommended on hdmi Signals. You can do that on rgb or composite Signals.

My 16x1 will be here Monday. Order it last week, but prime is slow. I currently use 3 switches for all my systems. Just want one system
I use bread clips to label my cords, but that looks much better.

Can i get dolby sound to work through this?
If I have a mix amp that requires an audio extractor would this be a hassle to get surround sound ? Or it works okay
Should I get 4k 120 hz one? I have ps4 pro and Xbox series X but series X needs 120 herds and output goes to capture card
Is this the uk version or the us version
I wonder if the auto switching switches to the input it detects power on and or prioritizes input 1 over input 2, etc. if more than one is powered. Having a system always powered on like a PS5 may confuse it. Not sure about any of that.
There really is no pattern. I power on a system, it auto detects it, but when I do the same thing the next day, it doesn't auto detect.
Hey i just bought a hdmi 2.1 switch but i want to know if it affects input lag in anyway? ( for gaming) thank you
Are there alternatives that don't use power cords? Powered by USB, or mechanical for example? For when spare plug sockets / outlets are sparse?
Yes, they are known as passive. They can add signal degradation if you are using long cords. The powered ones renew the signal, for lack of a better term. Some may take some power from the HDMI cord and light up a red LED light, but from what I read, those don't renew the signal.
These are not recommended. Always use Switches with power supply
So I set up 3 consoles on mine and all I get is no signal
This should really be cross-posted on the GTS channel, because of all the people hungry for systems room-like updates!
Great video!
Finally yes thank y😢
So hdmi splitter doesn’t connect my ps5 and series x on the same hdmi
A splitter takes one source (one game system) and splits it so it can be seen on two TVs. A switch takes two or more systems, and just passes one of them through at a time, to one TV.
@@HowToX thank you
Do I need to have the extra hdmi for 2 consoles or am I fine
If your TV already had two HDMI inputs then you don't need an HDMI switcher. Well, unless you are using a third device of some sort like a ROKU.
Ok Ty
Does it work for pc as well? im wanna buy one so that i can connect my Nintendo Switch to my pc monitor while my computer is on.
I have not used it on a monitor, but I see no reason why it would not work.

@@HowToX yes sir.
