An actual Angel Island Past would be really cool because the island would still be in the ground in the Mystic Ruins, before it rose into the sky. So you would see an active echidna civilization in the background and it wouldn't look like a lost world.
When sonic travels back in time into the past of angel island, he sees a bunch of new, or should i say old, things. There were still many badniks, because before sonic knew eggman was on the island, he was doing other things. Sonic then thought "where is knuckles?" And, as he went over to find the master emerald, he saw a young knuckles. Younger knuckles was even more determined to keep that big emerald safe, trying to attack ANYTHING that was near it, even sonic. As he escaped from that mess, he also noticed the extreme pile of lush forests and trees and other plants. He finally reached eggman, and took him on, creating a good future of angel island zone.
Instead of the flamethrower boss mid-act to bring about the bad future, you come across the echidna tribe who are still protecting the island and they tell you where the badnik generator is so you can unlock the good future
I think this is the best one in the bunch, although I might be biased as I've always loved the Past mixes the best. Been listening to it on repeat this week.
Judging by the way he mastered the full capabilities of the Genesis sound chips, I wouldn't doubt he could do the same with the Sega CD PCM chip as well
The Sega CD's PCM chip is very simple and easy compared to the Genesis FM and PSG soundchips, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if this is running on it.
love that it has some hints of Sonic Advance style on it, i know it wasnt the intention but it kinda sounds like it at some parts. I like to think that here is a past where the echidna were still around the island and prehaps they werent as power hungry.
P:The Past is a somehow more lush version of it's already tropical self, echidna tribes are scattered around, run past you and they might give power ups

I believe the past has Angel Island landed while the present has it in the sky.
It doesnt look like ocean but it's deep in a jungle which makes sense cause in the Past Angel Island wasnt an Island.
