It''s not the fact finn was able to bounce off Golb's tongue unharmed that is terrifying, the really terrifying thing is that GOLB ACKNOWLEDGED HIM AND TURNED AROUND. Sure anyone can interact with a primordial evil and survive, but to have one actively acknowledge you and survive, fucking nuts,

As far as the pillow world, I theorize it may be as you said a parallel world that while brief to the world of Ooo was a lifetime for Finn that may have been a simulation to test Finn.
What if Golb wasn’t just destroying the world after Finn perishes but to observe how much he had grown!

      Maybe his comet connection?
I was thinking golb is the embodiment of chaos. Life would be something he would endorse untill he can't when brought into their reality.
I was thinking back to when the lich got punished for showing up. Sure, golb had Betty in it but it's still has a purpose in endosing chaos. Life is chaos and the lich wanted to end existence. That's against golbs meaning, whereas Finns experience as the blue comet is to experience life and its chaos. Hence why golb 'tastes' him. He is deliciously chaotic.

a note: Jake throws away his favorite mug to illustrate the idea of impermanence. however, he then fishes the mug out of the knife storm because he wanted it back. even if something is gone, the idea it can be regained can become a drive. we do have a degree of control, if we allow ourselves to make the effort

This ties back to what Jake was saying though. You need to focus on what’s real “I threw away my favorite mug and now it’s gone forever” is just the example. The mug is still real. Jake’s not going to fester on going and getting it back or not

The enchiridion explains that sometimes worlds become linked temporarily and I believe that's what's happening here.
Finn is an important element in the world, just like the lich, so if he died in any world that he didn't belong to, his soul would have to find its way back to his original world to keep the order of things. Finn is a catalyst comet reincarnated, meaning it's fine that he dies, but not that he would enter a parallel death world. I think the reason that Golb is there is because they exist at the center of all these parallel worlds and Finn was just passing by as the nature of the cosmos set him back to his original version of Ooo. He couldn't travel through the door to get back because his world and pillow world were disconnected when he wasn't looking.
So basically it'd go like this: two universes temporary connect -> disconnect -> Finn is trapped in universe b and needs to be returned back to universe a. Finn ends up dying in universe b and his ethereal form travels back to universe a, passing through the void between worlds and seeing Golb along the way -> Finn needs to occupy a space in this world, so is given a body to compensate for his lack of a body.
    That's my headcanon.

Love this theory, golb being there to destroy the pillow world could’ve happened for a reason or another, but the connecting worlds makes more sense. Maybe cutting hairs here but why didn’t Finn just reincarnate ? If it was a past life it’s not like he would’ve have memories like he did with shoko, he eventually comes to know his past lives but the pillow world never comes back. I get the thematic point of the pillow world possible being fake, so this could be just be unnecessary nitpicking that can’t really be covered given what they were trying to do. Another detail that really gets me is the surprise on golbs face, like it had no idea what just happened, chaos for the chaos god.

Your dreams are other realities so Finn dreamed of the Pillow World because he slept in a pillow fort.
When Finn "died" he woke up so the Pillow World dream couldn't sustain itself without Finn imagining it so Golb arrived to destroy it. It couldn't eat Finn because Finn was returning to his body in the surface world. Golb ate the entire dream as he eats realities. Its why The Lich was convinced he was doing Golb's will by destroying all life, Golb is disorder, not death but chaos both creates and destroys.

Fantastic video! Would love to add some thoughts. In AT we learn from booko that parallel worlds are real and can be traveled through existing and temporary wormholes or through portals created by objects/being of great power. Fionna and cake tells us that parallel worlds even have the ability to be stored within a persons head.
My interpretation is that the reincarnated catalyst comet inside of finn mixed with the pillow fort and Finn’s strong festering to create new parallel world made of pillows as long as Finn is asleep. The moment he wakes up he dies in pillow world causing it to no longer have a chain to the planar existence of the multiversus. Which is why we see golb. Hes literally destroying the dead universe

idk why it did maybe golb noticed that the pillow world was just created and wanted a quick meal or they were attracted by more cosmic forces. those being that a world without pain or hurting MUST have some and so golb was drawn to it.

OKKKKK so as an av nerd i want to say that golb is some form of deity, hes very prominent in S10 and also Fionna and Cake. Basically he is some form of deity who control the multiverse. He took the F&C universe out of Simon Petrikovs head so it could be made canon. He is even authority to the AV version of multiverse police who imprison others who can travel across the multiverse. Golb was inhabited by Betty in S10 who can slightly control Golb in some manors such as transferring Simon Petrikovs mind to another Universe. He isn't inherintly evil but more the embodiment of chaos. This idea of Golb being evil was taken on by a lich who killed everyone in his reality to be "the disciple" of Golb but that not inherently what Golb wants as he straight up melts the lich and makes him into one of those tetris blocks. And by that logic we can assume all of those tetris pieces around him are people who have come to him for some reason and have been killed. Golb obviously only obeys by the laws of the multiverse as even he is not able to kill an immortal deity like the scarab as seen in F&C but he can eviscerate most everthing in an assumption that he most likely created the initial universes of the AV series. The only other person we see in another universe outside of all of the others is ✨prismo ✨who is the only entity we know to create other universes like the initial F&C magical universe which he put into the ice kings head which stopped being magical after The ice king was made into Simon Petrikov again. but not even prismo can see Golbs realm presumptously but we don't now because he was imprisoned at the time of F&C Simon Petrikov interacting with Golb. BIG FUNNY TLDR GOLB IS CHAOS BUT CONTROLLED BY NON MAGICAL ICE KINGS WIFE AND IS ALL POWERFUL.

It's really just a creepy scene at first but what we learn about golb later makes it horrifying, likely what it was is Puhoy was born out of finn's desire for his relationship with flame princess to work out, since finn was that worlds source then when he dies in that world there's no longer a reason for that world to exist so golb comes to devour it.
That's why finn forgets it seconds after returning to the real world, every trace that that world ever existed was erased and it's only memory is finn about to tell jake about a dream he had.

  • @hecticstairs
    @hecticstairs 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

maybe it's a deep cut setup for alternate realities, or possibly wish-altered realities, that are capable of existing within the minds of some adventure time characters, like fionna and cake's world existing in ice king's head
the void that finn traverses when he jumps off of golb's tongue-->
THAT VOID IS POSSIBLY REVISITED IN FIONNA AND CAKE when The Lich and Simon fall through a portal into Golbetty's dimensional plane/black void.
Finn and Simon both leave the voids getting launched by Gol/betty from left to right,
although Finn makes it back to Ooo easily, but Simon falls a bit short and lands on shards of other realities/universes until he finds his own
At one point in the void, Simon even questions if part of what he just experienced was "all in his head?"
    any thoughts
    does that track?

This episode feels like something I've been going through the past few months : When I'am about to fall asleep I feel like I'am comming back to a parallel world of sorts. In that state, but not through the day in my waking life, I have memories of this place. I can remember that physics and logic are different from whats real. It's not a common dream, as I have those too and they are just that: common dreams. This feels like it has a continuity and some parts of it are like spin offs of what happened through the day. Its kinda hard to explain. It all goes away after a few moments of being awake, like what happens to Finn.

When he gives up, he becomes grumpy feeble and dies.
Maybe Golb saw finn festering and wanted to give him a taste of what settling down and having a family would really look like and its not the life for him.

Had an ayahuasca trip that was like this. An entity that seemed undefinable residing in the confines of reality noticed me. It was amused that it even noticed me. I felt like an ant that somehow managed to communicate with a human. It started toying with me with dreams that seem to span months or years and then wake me up like it was a joke. Or show me the “full” meaning of a concept just to blow my mind. It got scary when it was so entertained that it didn’t want to let me go, but mama Aya was always holding me and took me back to my body. I could still hear it for a few days afterwards, but it didn’t manage to intrude on the following trip. I had asked her to show me “divine creativity” and I think she wanted to oblige and also teach me a lesson. I forgot most of those dreams shortly afterwards. I think the psyche does that to safeguard your ego once you’re “back”.

I've read some stories dealing with the crisis of reality and identity, and some answers really motivated me. It doesn't matter if its real or not, you should follow your heart and make choices that you wont regret; even though you could experience certain outcomes that are dark and make you feel resigned, the correct attitude is to accept the outcome, hold it in your memory and do right by it. As in if people died, you honor their memory, if people suffered, you help them or help other people in their memory. Whatever happens that you can not control, you try to do something in opposition. Sometimes, there are some outcomes that are impossible to accept. What you should do is look at it from a higher perspective. If you slay the devils, demons, and gods that instill fear in you within your heart and start looking at them from a higher perspective, you will no longer fear them and be intimated by their existence. An unyielding and resolute mindset can get you through hard times better than an obsessed mindset that has expectations for how everything should be

Overall, I think the pillow world can represent a state of mind and, in this case, Finn’s. As long as Finn festers, as long as he doesn’t come to a conclusion or take action, he cannot be hurt. This is shown in a more literal way, being that his new world is made of pillows. Literally nothing can hurt him.
And yet, Finn still hurts. Because despite the pain of making a wrong choice, indecision only leads to more pain and yearning for what could be. He ends up dying of old age because he could never come to a conclusion on what to do.
This is just one way that I like to view this episode, and all interpretations are valid and deserve thought. Will always love AT and everything it means to everyone

I feel like golb was trying to eat finn just to stir up trouble, as the lich said in the fiona and cake series, golb was known as an embodiment of chaos, his creations being of discord, which had a weakness to harmony as seen on the season finale, my guess is that golb was trying to erase finn like how he erased margles (magic man's wife), he probably did it to finn simply because finn is well known throughout ooo bringing in peace and harmony, so him mysteriously disappearing could've lead to such discord and isolation

  • @Cptn_Candy

okay putting my thoughts below cuz wow spoilers.
Good you're here. So we know at the end of the show that finn has reincarnated, a lot in fact. His soul going from one vessel to the next and the next, doing strange things becoming strange and powerful creatures. I think this episode was a dream of sorts but with a soul like finn's that can reincarnate and alter reality and the like then it's reasonable to assume that he fell asleep in the pillow fort and went to a pillow world in a dream where his soul just went to another world and made a new vessel like the one it was currently residing in. The end of the dream when he dies his soul is released from that dream vessel and he goes beyond the reality. As he goes out beyond this reality he spent an entire lifetime in he meets golb who is on his way to devour this universe for one reason or another. For Jake outside it was like maybe an hour? So there is clearly some INSANE time dilation going on here. In the time finn is distracted and talking to jake Golb arrived at this universe and devoured and destroyed it. Once it's devoured by golb then it's gone not just at that time but from all time that it exists and all memories of it. Or maybe Golb devoured all of those memories when finn ya know jumped on his tongue...

Leaves much to speculation, if Golb is Chaos than Glob must be order 🤔
As far as the pillow world, I theorize it may be as you said a parallel world that while brief to the world of Ooo was a lifetime for Finn that may have been a simulation to test Finn.
What if Golb wasn’t just destroying the world after Finn perishes but to observe how much he had grown!
Side Note - I always liked the first few seasons of adventure time over the later ones as they were about the sheer adventure itself.

I think golb is supposed to represent the “end” of something. When golb appeared at the end of the episode he was floating in an empty space, and I presume that was previously occupied by the pillow world before it got deleted. Idk if golb is the one who destroyed the world or if Finn’s death was the catalyst for that world ending, but golb is the thing that appears when things end. He also appears in the series finale, which I think is supposed to be symbolic. If the show ends that would technically be the end of that universe, and thus golb would naturally be there for that end. But because of Betty’s wish to keep Simon safe, she’s also able to keep Simon’s entire world safe, so the adventure time world continues on despite it being over.

Alot of the reasons for why things play out as they do emulates psychedelic drug trips
They do various different ones. This one is like a breakthrough DMT trip imo-live another life, meet the entities that control the world and watch over your life-these are consistent events from this type of trip
Thats why they do the geometric morphing transition-thats what you see on DMT during in and out phases
I remember other episodes that were more like shrooms and LSD. But DMT is the biggest theme, since it blasts you into an imaginary world with an extended storyline. And commonly youll feel like it felt so real

The very nature of Finn is his persistence.
Due to his spirit being once the Catalist Comet, he IS unending.
His death is never an end, but a step forward.
Yet his spirit has to stay bound to his reality.
However Finn got stuck in the Pillow reality, his home is Ooo.
Finns death was suppose to set him forward, but dying in another reality hard reset him back to Ooo.
IT COULD BE that Golb had to take his spirit from Pillow World and Put it back in Ooo.

This could be alluding to the cycles of reincarnation and how we forget our previous lives as if it were all a dream. Life is also seen as a projected dream to our real or higher selves. Golb, as the chaos to Globs order represent the metaphysical embodiments of Yin and Yang. Point is to not take life so seriously and to act as if it were a grand play because in the end, you'll die, your consciousness gets recycled, and you'll forget that you've even lived before you lived.
My headcannon is also that Finn jumping off of the tongue of Golb is him resisting true soul reintegration or reincarnation because he's simply not truly dead. Kind of like how people say when you die in a dream you die in real life. His subconscious holds him to the "truer" reality he lives in due to the nature of his strong rebirth cycle. That being the catalyst comet.

So there was a time before time when all that existed where monsters death, life, orgalorg the litch. all are from this existence before time. Glob represents order, golb represents chaos. Fin is the reincarnated of one of the the “monsters”. Now this is where it is speculated, my assumption is is that glob looks like a baby because children are a source of chaos, not bad not good but unpredictability incarnate. And glob looks like a mature person with many faces representing the plurality considered all the the time when making decisions ,responsibility incarnate. I think the. Writers where projecting there own lives some coming to grips with being parents. Confronting childhood issues with their own parents. Finn’s story is that of a person putting away childhood adventure and playfulness becoming an adult and the difficulty of dealing with adult problems .
