Why Aren't Comedies Popular Anymore?

For many decades, comedy stood as one of the biggest movie genres of all time, with classics like Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Dumb & Dumber, and Napoleon Dynamite all becoming decade defining movies.
Around the mid-2010's though, comedies started to decline in popularity, to the point where Barbie is the only big movie to come out of the genre nowadays.
What caused the decline of comedies to happen? Could it be connected to a certain movie genre that grew in popularity around the same time comedies started to decline, and is now currently going through a similar decline in popularity? Let's find out.

I have seen Freeguy alot and the movie has TH-camrs and twitch streamers in it like jacksepticeye Fortnite tubers ninja Lazer beam and twitch streamer pokimane in it jacksepticeye was the one I liked the most in the movie but the Fortnite tubers ninja and Lazer beam was random and pokimane shouldn't had appear in it

I suppose Barbie had the Barbenheimer craze, marketing, some big names pushing it and the meme of men wearing suits paying for Barbie. Although I fear Barbie is going to inspire a lot of toy oriented movies instead, but maybe it would be fortunate if more female led movies can get a bigger podium.
