There is alot of problems that could be said about game freak, 1 being that while its player base has "evolved" ironically...pokemon refuses to evolve. It does enough to keep itself relevant but thats it, but also i think due to the companies policies, i wouldn't be surprised if game freak is getting sick to death doing the same thing over and over and over again, which is why they tried to do those other games that sadly failed hard

Honestly, a lot of this video comes off as "sales = better game". It is undeniable that the first Pokemon games were some of the worst entries in terms of balance, bugs, and wonky Pokemon designs. Yet those games were the best selling for a long time. Pokemon was on a downward sales trend from Generations 1-5, and the opposite has been true from 6-9. 7 maybe being an exception because of the Ultra games. Sales does not equal quality. It is purely business accumen and Gamefreak realized around gen 6 that flashy one-off mechanics were a sales goldmine. That plus some better marketing = better sales. It has nothing to do with the quality of the games. In regards to post games, gold and silver is a mediocre post game and is only really idolized by casuals who love having a second region. But the poor balancing of the regions turns off a lot more of the more passionate fans, the ones who are most likely to stick with the game past the end credits. If you look at Gens 3 and 4. And BW2, they maintained having new areas to explore without ruining the level curve and balance of the games and unlocked new areas to explore that, while not a full second region in scale, often added fairly significantly to the play area of the games. In addition to that, they had fun ways to rematch the gym leaders and Elite 4 + Champion, and the rival with their full power teams in the case of gen 4. And BW2 introduced a tournament to face famous trainers from the history of the entire franchise up to that point with the post game world tournament. All of this is in addition to various different types of battle facilities that came with their own gym-like system of beating Frontier Brains or the such. These provided far more opportunity to explore the mechanics of the games, took more advantage of the different battle formats, and provided ranges of areas to explore, in some games without needing to get a second version or DLC. They greatly rewarded long-term play, whereas, since Gen 6, they mostly just do a battle tower effectively to prep players for online competitive play, and that's about it. Now they do DLC. But is that really as goof as a third version or at release post-game? I'd argue no, since they can't fix issues with the base game like how Platinum basically rewrote the entire story and even reordered the gym leaders to make Sinnoh go from a burnout region to one of the most popular. And they still had post games. Or the sequels that we got with B2W2, creating an all new story and expanded world. DLC won't do that. So the claims of the prior post games being better "not being true" is just plain bullshit. I liked the friend park in gen 6, but there was nowhere near the gameplay of the prior games, that was the first region I spent less than 100 hours in and I only spent more in Sword and Shield cause my wife got into breeding Pokemon and wanted me to play with her, and I decided to do competitive matches to pass the time

Nah, you're not wrong on the age groups and especially on the Japanese market, as so many of our beloved franchises come from Japan. Look at FF...it's gotten even more mature. The original Japanese green/red version had the old man that teaches you how to catch a Pokemon hangover from drinking and changed to needing his coffee for the West. Having lived in Japan for a few years and able to read enough of it to play the games, it feels like shit gets childish for the west. Which is weird. Oversight on game freak is that the more Mature gen 1 games came out when we were like 10, and since then they have gotten worse kid-friendly hand holding while the core audience keeps aging. Completely backwards.

12:15 interesting. If children have less interest in the franchise then its already set to fail in the future. I guess this explains why they retired Ash from the anime.

The games itself, content, difficulty, postgame, legendary hunts. It used to be way better and harder. Now the game holds your hand all the time, tells you what to do. Barely any trainers. Weak gyms. Joke of elite 4. Champion that should never be a champion. No real post game. Payed dlc that still barely adds anything except mostly old Pokémon returning. No battle towers anymore. Legends are easy to find and to catch. Lazy designs, empty towns The fact that Romhacks / fan games are doing so much better when it’s just made by fans. And all for free says enough..
The games definitely got easier as the series went on, though it's pretty funny that every once in a while there is a monstrous difficulty spike that wrecks people just cruising along. Honestly, despite all the problems, the main reason why is I stopped playing were the pokemon designs. They are just so bad. Just a random assortment of shapes more than anything.
I feel like this video is mostly full of strawmen and I honestly don't even know if you're making excuses for Game Freak and defending them, or trying to pointing out they're terrible games but saying they're good business. The narrative is confusing and all over the place, to be honest. The fact of the matter is, The Pokemon Company rushes these games out every three years for pure greed and profit, Pokemon only still exists for said greed and profit, and no one at Game Freak cares about quality anymore. They quite literally said that in Japan, "It doesn't matter if it's good, it'll sell well anyway." The thing that really upsets me though isn't their greed; it's the fact so many passionate fans could do a better job for cheaper than current Game Freak employees. If Game Freak and The Pokemon Company don't care anymore, at least give the franchise to the people that do. Make a deal to license and sell fan-made Pokemon games, or something. I just hate how good Pokemon could be, but actively choose NOT to do.

@@lubbo5261 don't forget palworld it's like legends arceus but 100x better lol.
5:25 the ultimite pokemon game would be one where you can explore 3 or more regions
Sales don't mean shit. The people buying the game are the parents, not the 10 year old children. They don't care if it's good, they know its Pokemon and that's a SFW title for little Timmy. Now the demographics are changing, but the people buying are people who actually LIKE Pokemon and that's why Pokemon competitors don't do well, even if they're better.
But if you DO want to use sales, Pokemon is the ONLY main Nintendo franchise whose Switch title is *not* in the number 1 spot for all-time sales. That's pitiful.
S&V trash games. Get a modded 3ds
Everything except the majority of pkkemon fans being adults was 100% correct and the pokemon community NEEDS to see this . I'mma subscribe .
stop buying pokemon games after gen 7. Frankley, the only games that interest me are Zelda games.
i buy pokémon for pokémon. if i don’t buy pokemkn how will i get my fill ? it’s not like racing where if i don’t like need for speed i can get forza or the crew. if i want to build a team of 6. carry them through the elite 4 and battle with them online i HAVE to get pokémon. so for that reason i still buy pokémon
Try the older titles and probably get the episodes on VHS or DVD, it’s better especially if it is cheaper than the 80-60$ price tag for the games.
You can always play the older games, or play other Monster collecting games like Nexomon Extinction
@@lubbo5261 i got the older games. still have my ds and all. but those don’t have new pokémon and trainers. i want to experience everything they have to offer
