One thing that frustrates me is that whenever I try to criticize this game on twitter, a lot of people come after me saying that I'm "complaining over a kids game", and they act like I am a big bad bully. And then of course, they proceed to do the same thing that they tell me to stop with other games (which is fine, but it is hypocritical) I just want this franchise to do better quality wise, and kids deserve better.
To be fair about the camera in battles, if you press R3 the camera resets to the default camera angle and starts doing the usual shot changes and movements. Of course, since you can battle anywhere, this will often cause the camera to break through the geometry and give you a peek at the endless white void.
The next gen pokemon game could be a literally unplayable mess that doesn't even work past the title screen, and it will still sell millions of copies. Why should they ever try to be better when there are MILLIONS of people who will buy no matter what?
True. Unfortunately people buy everything Nintendo shits out on day one, no matter how bad it is. I got my recent Pokémon games from second hand shops, just so that I don't support Gamefreak.
And Game Freak said it themselves, why do more as necessary? It sells anyways. These games will only change if we don't buy them. If you need to buy them just wait until you get them used. I bought them because of the Pokédex, but now that i know that i get them through Pokémon Go, i can wait.
I've been playing pokemon since pokemon red on the game boy and for the first time in my life I had to force myself to even launch the game and it hurts so bad, fan games are unironically what keeps this franchise alive right now
A year later and I'm still in disbelief at this release. I think my jaw was perpetually dropped the first few hours just because of how bad everything looked and felt. We had BD/SP in late 2021. They should have saved Legends Arceus for Nov. 2022 so IT could be the big holiday game and developed S/V another year and had it come out this November. What a shame. At least a lot of the character designs rock and the music slaps. I can still count on Pokemon for that much.
I'm totally out of the pokemon scarlet and violet loop P.s: to the people that like to say that pokemon fans got what they wanted, don't complain when the waiter brings your food completely burned
Remember that Nintendo only publishes the game, they don’t develop it. They don’t put on these restrictions, they only allow it. It’s not entirely their fault, it’s multiple companies. (ppl are still gonna get it so it doesn’t really matter.)
at this point im just expecting a downgraded experience with any newer pokemon games, the only thing i look forward too in these games are the new pokemon added. atleast the pokemon design/concept department hasn't fallen into despair unlike basically every other department
Oh really? Still good pokemon designs, eh? Pawmot Goldhengo The starters Dudunsparse The spider one Palafin The reddit dogs By all means, please stop me when I mention a pokemon design that's actually decent.
@@Toon.Hamstreak_658 you're acting like this generation has some of the worst, compared to every other pokemon region this doesn't fall far to them, while yes some designs are indeed bad. majority aint, also before trashing on the "still good pokemon designs" please think back through every generation and then speak of it...also dundunspare is intentionally supposed to be a bad design too so thats abit unfair. and a flaming skeleton crocodile with a little fire chick companion is cool in anyway you look at it
@@averyblurryduck749 _> It's_ intentionally _bad, that makes it okay!_ *Dude, you're defending a product that is INTENTIONALLY BAD. Think about that.* *Better yet, Look up Dunseraph. That's what we wanted Dunsparse to evolve into. Not this mistake of nature.* As for the starter, have you SEEN the middle evolution? It's abysmal. And even though it slightly improves upon evolution, it's still just another jobbermon. I'm tired of our starters having jobs, instead of being mystical creatures.* Face it: 95% of this new Dex is just reddit-tier or tumblr-designed garbage. The only decent design that comes to mind that isn't either just a reskin of older, actually GOOD pokemon, or just legendaries with extra attention given to them, is the hammer one. Go ahead & find me another good design- pro tip: you can't.
Pikachu is just pretty darn lame. Not offensive, not ugly, but nothing interesting either. At least with Garbodor you can look at it and go "Uh oh smelly ugly!". Pikachu is just "meh it surely exists I guess". Can't fathom why you would put it into your team over any of the more interesting mons like Ninetales and Eevee.
literally that unhinged tweet you showed in the beginning broke my brain for most of the video I'm sorry....but a child apparently not having as much "sex appeal" as another is the grossest reason for not liking a game I've ever heard holy shit
i had to rewind the video when i read this comment because i mustve looked away for a second, and HOLY SHIT this person is complaining about the lack of sɛxuɑlizing of CHILDREN!?!?! the internet was a mistake
It's worse than that. There's not just 800+ Pokemon. There are well over 1000 different species now, the majority of which you cannot access because fuck you we need that sweet, sweet Pokemon Home money!
I think home is the least worrisome part, the game has 823 Pokémon total but only 400 can be accessed without paying for DLC and a small percentage can only be accessed through transfer from home. The biggest part is the DLC is more than half what the base game is and you need to buy it twice meaning you have to spend nearly $200 if you want to catch every Pokémon in the game without trading. (which you need Nintendo online to do) and you then have 2 games where you still can’t access every Pokémon and that are unfinished and run terribly and aren’t enjoyable.
I would pay an unhealthy amount of money for a dark and mature pokemon game where you take on the mob in some gritty classic 1920's scenerio filled with pain and loss but an ultimately victorious adventure narrated by a beaten soul like that of Rorschach in the Watchmen .
I have to completely agree. I finished the entire story in Scarlet and while it was OK, it just didn't feel like a "complete" experience. The whole game kind of felt like a tech-demo for a full release. I don't know how this game got the green light to get released in this state. This shows that The Pokémon Company doesn't really care about the game quality. The game was released way too prematurely to get out for the holiday season. I actually feel bad for the developers as I'm sure they worked themselves half to death to meet the deadlines even just to get this build out. I initially was going to skip playing Scarlet/Violet as I had skipped Sword/Shield after hearing how mediocre they were. Looking back, I probably should have saved my $60 and put it towards a much better game. All in all, I didn't hate this game, but it just felt lackluster. Unfortunately, people vote with their wallets, so I agree that I don't see the quality of the games vastly improving in the near future. Pokémon is a merchandising dynamo.
Honestly my biggest dissapointment was how this doesn't feel like a spanish region. Like if they wanna just keep makin japanese regions I wish they would instead of half assing a country and adding several japanese based parts after
i dislike the school uniform shit and also i hate it how you get the “legendary “ pokemon at the start of the game. just ruins the mysteriousness of legendary pokemon
I knew there was a subconcious reason i stopped playing Pokemon after Sun/Moon. Idk if it was cuz Pokemon has not went to home console...that the 3D aspect of it has been taken to a level that is just unappealing to my eyes....Im not sure...but ty for making this video and tacking some of the reasons why
I do enjoy the game, but it is bittersweet as I feel like it could be so much more and I am enjoying it less than I did back in the DS day (mostly played DS games, as I did not have access to the games until I got enough disposable money). I did not really notice the graphical issues with sword/shield, did not have much of a problem with the graphics in PL:A, but now even I am cringing... With things supposed to be a 'beautiful open world' but have minecraft style textures and 1 fps movement when things are more than a foot away from you... I did like the concept of kinda sorta being able to do the story in the order you want it to (random order is not applicable, as fights do not scale), as I did beeline for the titans when Arven came out with exactly why he wants the herba mystica. Asking nurse Joy for tips on where to go next is not a good idea either: she'll just direct you to the nearest objective, even if it is waaaaaay above your level... I really like the concept of pokemon, but I do not like the 'one step forward, three steps back' which has been going on lately.
The world is ugly on top of feeling like it's not well designed and it's just unfortunate. The idea of Pokémon is awesome and my dumbass will probably keep trying the new games but the way the series could and should go and the way it's going are polar opposites.
I played Pokémon scarlet and I have to say it is the most boring game I've ever played. The people who say it is the best are either Pokémon stans who will say anything with a Pokémon logo on it is best thing ever, or are just people who has an entire career base around Pokémon, so they obviously wouldn't say it is bad.
The fan disappointment has never been so widespread and exigent as it was this time. And yet, they won't course correct at all. The next game will STILL just be a bit further on the downward slope they've been on. They're laughing, cuz they're serving us crap and know that we'll keep paying for it.
I still use a Pikachu key chain to this day, to remind me of the earliest days of my childhood, specifically Pokémon White 2, Explorers of Time, Conquest and Shadows of Almia. Some of the best childhood memories I have are from this series. Now almost 20 years later, I'm running out of reasons to call myself a Pokémon fan. If those inevitable Unova remakes screw up, that'll seriously be the last straw for me.
Being spanish and finally having a pokemon game based in Spain is cool and all, but the game wants me to shit my pants, it looks nothing like spain and the game overall is ass. But I have to say, Toby Fox was fucking cooking with the music
Compared to how they depicted things like France in X and Y this feels like a real slap in the face to Spain. It deserves much better because the geography and architecture of Spain is very beautiful.
There was a lot of missed potential with the Paldea region because on paper, a Pokémon region based on the Iberian Peninsula could easily have been one of the most visually distinct and unique regions in the series, unfortunately Gamefreak fumbled the bag with the execution and it shows that Gamefreak did no research when designing this region. They even forgot that Portugal exists.
While I am salty my signature Pokemon Machoke was cut from the game I think many would tell me at least old Machie doesn't have to be involved with a glitchy, sluggish unfinished mess of a game. Even with DLC, I have played Tears of the Kingdom and the quality and performance issues between them are very noticeable, TotK is massively better. Like holy cow, BotW doesn't run like this.
As for me, I have to take the following things into account as to who is responsible for the mess of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: 1. 90% of the Pokémon community wanted a game with better graphics instead of stable gameplay, and they got their wish. 2. Both Nintendo and Gamefreak openly apologized for the condition of both Scarlet and Violet. 3. The Pokémon company has been very cocky about their response concerning both Scarlet and Violet. Based on the following, the only ones who are to blame are both the 90% of the Pokémon community, who are kids who know nothing about video games and the Pokémon company. I've been playing the main series Pokémon games since 2004, and to this day, I still can't with good faith recommend both Scarlet and Violet, and because of the condition of both games that is why im no longer buying any new Pokémon game titles. I don't like the current dangerous rabbit hole that the Pokémon company is pushing, and I was hoping for the usual from the Pokémon company, which was stable gameplay.
Have to agree with pretty much everything. Playing through the game I did find some enjoyment but it was constantly marred by the absolute horrible state of the game. Every time I found some joy there was always the thought of "I wish this game was made better". When I finally finished the game it was like "wow, this game would gave been amazing if it wasn't for it being such a dogshit deadline slop" I was just simply angry, sad, disappointed, but not surprised. While I don't have any shred of hope for future games I am fine replaying the old games. Besides I've been getting the monster taming experience I wanted from games such as Coromon and Nexomon, great games those are, I recommend them along with Cassette Beasts to anyone seeking actual good (and way less costing) monster taming games. Playing such games it dawned on me that if GF can't deliver I'd just have to do it myself. I was already going to go into game development and design before playing SV but my god the negative experience of playing it made me decide so.
Would be nice if they took notes from the fan games who for the most part take mechanics that they(gamefreak) created and build on them. Could just give us options in the game to toggle things in and off and that's just the battle part. It doesn't have to be overly dark and gritty but if a rpg maker game using pixels from gen 3 can feel more alive than a whole ass 3d wannabe breath of the wild rendition then there's some serious problems
Here we are blaming Gamefreak for another poor Pokemon game they made.... The reality is they didn't even make the game to begin with. The entire project was outsourced because Gamefreak is more invested in making new franchises
I've never complained about graphics in a video game. I have complained a little bit about performance. That was going to be the same case with Gen 9, if it wasn't for the CONSTANT crashing. This game has crashed at least once EVERY TIME I've opened and played it. It crashed when I opened the boxes, opened the PokéPortal, opened the MAP, AND HATCHED A FUCKING EGG AT THE "WRONG CAMERA ANGLE?!" There is a lot of things I love about Scarlet and Violet. For example, the music is so well composed and the transition between the overworld and battle theme for each Province is wonderful. I've noticed little segments of music from past Gens(mostly Gen 8) hidden in the soundtracks and I love it. Not only that, but a lot of the new Pokemon have bursted their way into my all time favorites. The main three being Fuecoco, Koraidon, and Tinkaton. For as long as I can remember, Mewtwo's been my favorite legendary mainly due to his overall personality he's shown in every movie/episode he's been in along with his character motives. But when I saw Koraidon's in-game interactions, I was appalled on how much energy and personality they gave it. Since then, that little lizard friend has started to crawl it's way to my top favorite. In conclusion, when I play a new Pokemon main-line release, I mostly pay attention to two things. The new designs and the soundtrack, and this game delivered. However the performance and graphical issues have gotten so bad, that it starts to scare me.
Like I said there is a lot to like! I honestly wish the performance and sub par graphics didn't bother me as much as they did but they do. The music transitions really help keep the immersion going, I just wish the battles themselves felt as lively as the music! There are some talented people at Game Freak in the music department and some of the new mons are cool. I just can't recommend someone throw their hard earned cash at the game for those two things alone.
The mountains have notable stitch lines. The landscape is somehow more barren than BOTW and BOTW had an excuse because it was in a post-apocalyptic era. For some reason too, it stutters with rendering with BOTW doesn’t. Zelda set the bar for switch possibilities, yet gamefreak just lazily threw something together like the passion was all gone. Even the designs are discouraging and I didn’t enjoy any of them
BOTW still had some performance issues (the Korok Forest is particularly awful) but when it struggled it was easier to understand why. It was struggling when there was a lot of stuff on screen but would still come back to 30fps fairly quickly. This game just drops frames all over the place for no rhyme or reason and looks LEAGUES WORSE than BOTW despite being a much newer game on the same hardware. If they're gunna have bad performance at least have good presentation to make up for it.
I'm in the mindset that Pokemon hates their own IP, they're trying to make a new franchise and all the while putting less and less in the Pokemon so people slowly stop caring about them. I don't care what Game Freak makes next, whatever shit pile they pump out next won't have the quality to keep them going!
I will give it one definite upside on the last gen's rival - I detested Hop. Hop was pathetic, so pathetic my guts churned with sympathy every time I beat him. Nemona is far better, so much so I'd rate her #3 in my rival charts. #1 Silver #2 Blue #3 Nemona She really isn't a rival so much as a goal because she's playing you with kiddie gloves and you want to get her to take them off by beating her but like Blue and Silver she's still miles ahead of any of the other pathetic offerings Pokémon has called your 'rival'.
You deserve more attention than what you currently have! Love your edits, the way you talk, and how well you dissect the topics you choose to discuss. Looking forward to what you'll do in 2023!
I feel like I'm going insane between Sonic Frontiers and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet being given huge praise by a significant number of people. These games have bad performance (Scarlet/Violet much more so), glaring design problems, bland environments and mediocre stories yet some people are praising them as some of the best games in the series. Nostalgia and hype somehow make people see objectively bad games as excellent and a step forward for each respective series.
@@Sobble_99 It really doesn't. Not much happens besides exposition on the Ancients and the characters talking about how mysterious it is, and Sage's character arc doesn't have enough time to earn its conclusion. The part where she sees Sonic and Tails being brotherly and gets emotional over not having that kind of bond and having to treat people she knows are good as "enemies" was laughable since all the flashbacks were just her and Eggman in cyberspace and she didn't have nearly enough screentime. Sonic's cyber-corruption ended up leading to nothing and gets resolved by a cop-out friendship circle. The ending is unsatisfying as there's no heart to heart between Sonic and Eggman over Sage's "death", nor do Sonic's friends react to it at all. Then she gets brought back immediately making her sacrifice pointless.
I hate the "they don't have time" excuse, it's BS, they don't have the man power to put out games within the time given to work it, they have the money to expand their team but Gamefreak stubbornly refuses to do so. Their current team lacks the skills required to make good games, and anyone defending them is so badly conned they deserved to be getting conned. "oh TPC is just as responsible" TPC aren't the ones with the power to develop games. Gamefreak literally thought up a very rough draft, spent zero time brain storming ways to make it better, and lacked the drive and passion for making games to make Scarlet and Violet. Gamefreak are the Kings of Conartists trying to make you think they took 5 steps forward when in reality they took 10 steps back. Anyone who's played tons of games, especially open world games as well as other Monster Tamer games can see how bad their skills are. It's not a time thing, cause if they actually fixed the underline issues, hey games would still look leagues better than they do now and then and only then could a time constraint excuse pass and be forgiven. But no we throw billions of dollars at them cause it's pokemon. if this were any other franchise Gamefreak wouldn't exist anymore, that is how outdated they are.
@21:26 OMG! I hadn't noticed.. but that PKMN's mouth goes from round to polygonal when opened! I loved this series for years, but dropped it since I saw Sword and Shield being developed.. glad to know I'm not missing anything, sad to know people are dumb to support this disaster further.
If you pay close attention, this actually happens when you start a battle with any Pokémon in the wild. There are at least 2 LOD models for Pokémon. When you start a battle it plays their little animation and switches to the higher detail battle model during the camera pull out animation. You can notice the hands and stuff change midway through the pull out for that reason. I wish I can say that it didn't distract me but I wrote half a paragraph about it here because I couldn't stop noticing it.
pokemon sv officially driven me to give up on new gamefreak games i only play showdown and romhacks these days. Also they should give up on the open world idea while I love open world games gamefreak has shown 3 times in a row now that they are not able to pull it off they should just go back to the old formula
Open worlds are probably the hardest thing to do well in gaming and I think they'd be smart to move away from it too. They require more time to do well than GameFreak has to make these games. Also if they strip back to a more linear world with branching pathways maybe we can get a game that looks and runs better lol
*Before you say: OH MY GAWD this game looks incredible! You can... roam around and and... catch pokemon! And it's so pretty for the console!* ...Just please play any, I mean ANY other game in the console... you're too fixated in pokemon, literally just see what how pretty MARIO turned out... MARIO! THEY DON'T EVEN NEED TO TRY MAKIN GOOD! BUT THEY DO ANYWAYS!
This is what I get for getting my hopes even slightly up with Legends Arceus, and now I will pretty much stop buying Pokemon games (bar the older ones). I have completely lost hope for this franchise. I could go on a massive tangent about virtually everything in this game, but we would end up being here all day, so I will say one thing: The Pokemon fanbase is garbage and I'm tired of pretending it isn't. The Pokemon fanbase defending slop like Scarlet and Violet is only one issue I have with it.
This made me think "what changes would I make if I had to fix the games?" I've plenty of things I could say, but I want to just tackle one issue: the battle speed. (I wrote a Google Doc like I was going to make a video about it, but that's unlikely to happen so just ignore that, or hey, maybe steal it for yourself, Idc!) 「"Well, let’s look at the complaint that inspired this video: stat change messages! In this review of Scarlet and Violet, he comments how it gives you a message for each stat change and that this takes forever so I took inspiration from something I saw in my Sword playthrough: the messages when abilities are triggered such as Oblivious cancelling Intimidate. Except…I think we could simplify this even further, so let’s display all of the changes at once and redesign the notification to not require any reading. We can colour code buffs with red, and debuffs as blue but we’ll also have an arrow pointing up or down for those suffering from colour blindness…I am assuming Gamefreak designs around disability, but as I do not have any that hinders my gameplay experience, I can’t point out any failings on their part at this moment in time. Anyway, defence buffs can be a shield, if it is physical defence then it’ll have the icon for physical attack in it and the ripple that is used for special attack. Physical attack changes are a sword which is either red or blue, again with an accompanying arrow whilst special attack would be a brain. Speed, we can go pretty simple and have a foot, accuracy would be an eye and evasion would be a man performing double team. If this seems too vague, I guess we can add the text below the icon but I think these are pretty clear on their own. Any time this pops up, it will show for as long as the ability activation messages, those seem pretty fast but with enough time to read them despite being on the opposite sides of the screen. Multi-hit moves are another fan hated snail: so why don’t we have it so when a Pokémon gets its attack split into three animations, one is when it approaches, another for the attack which can be looped and the final for when it returns to its original position. Whilst it is attacking, mid-animation, the damage will be calculated with the bar moving at whatever speed will keep it synced for when the attack will end and FINALLY the message for the number of times it hit will display, this should cut the time down quite a bit. Whenever a critical hit occurs, the super effective sound should play alongside a message like the previously mentioned “activated ability” just saying “critical hit” and if it happens multiple times in the same attack, add “x” then number. Do NOT interrupt the attacking for any reason other than the fact it concluded!"」
I’ve never played this game but it surprises me that no review mentions anything about the stupid bike dog thing. That alone makes it much more difficult to relate to your environment in any immersive or believable way. It’s just so stupid and inconsiderate with how it traverses the space and obstacles of the world.
This game literally looks like a fucking Unity engine asset flip that you would find on Steam for $15. The repeating textures and the ugly and unrealistically flat lighting especially.
Fighting and dragon with kiraidon was certainly original but we definitely could’ve gotten a different typing for miraidon since zekrom was already an electric and dragon type legendary
@@Ripley_X3 what about it? The game runs and performs fine and did its job as an HD reimagining of Pokemon yellow with a new gameplay concept while also including a fan favorite mechanic in Mega Evolution
I never liked Terastylizing. The Gyms never seem to make good use of it and, even if it changes up battling, I’d rather something more awesome like Dynamaxing than simply crystallizing my Pokémon and slap a crown on them. I never used it because story mode doesn’t take any great usage of that. It made the already annoying online raids a slog to go through when the transformation takes up time. The raids of Sword and Shield were structured better Paldea is also the lamest region of all (It’s a ghost town literally everywhere.) The only people I’ll really remember that well going forward are Iono (the only MEMORABLE Gym leader) and Miriam (the school nurse.)
I also say this a lot when I talk about this game and the changes they made: “Why try to fix what isn’t broken?” I don’t think Pokémon needs to be open world like this when I liked the formula they have reused. Maybe that’s why Sword and Shield (the better of the Switch regions) ran as well as it did. Plus, it was more lively than this wasteland
9 month later, they simply gave up on fixing this and admitted this in their interview. I am curious what they will do in the next one. If they keep doing this, I will only buy remakes of older Pokemon games or Spin-offs. And what I mean is not delivering trash, what I mean is driving the Dex-it course. The Trash delivery is just the cherry on top. If Sword and Shield would have sold like trash, we would not be here. I briefly finished the main story, and after learning that my favorite pokemon won't be in the game, even after the Expansion pass, I am really upset. Also the april patch almost bricked my switch, so there was a caution anyway. There is no words to describe how disappointed I am. Seriously, I am really going to buy only Remakes and Spin offs. The main series has kind of died for me, when 8th Generation hit. Yet, the 8th generation was real fun. 9th generation music is not really great, the Paldean music drives me insane, you can't even enter houses, or interact with some NPCs. Well and then the Dex-it. It is really enough...I just hope, that I am not alone with this. If the trash sells like this abominations, they get supported with their greed. Idk who gave them the idea to cut Pokemon out of the code, to make more money with people, that never bought remakes and the third version of one generation.
I adore pokemon, played every single ducking game.... but I can't stop feeling disappointed over and over again. Legends Arceus showed us they can do better but they've turned their MAIN franchise into a JOKE. Should've stayed 2D on the switch.
3D is fine. From a visual perspective I liked X and Y back in the day. It was also smart about keeping the camera fixed so they could optimize the game a lot better. I'd happily go back to fixed camera if it meant the game didn't run like a 90 year old man escaping the old peoples home.
What gets me the most is that Arceus Legends just felt like such an awesome step up, and then this one looks and runs like it was made by a completely different team. I still enjoy the game, and I hope that it can be patched to look and run better, but it shouldn't have to be.
I'm very tired of the buy first patch later mentality that is happening with a lot of games right now. I skipped PLA because SwSh left such a sour taste in my mouth. However, after watching a lot of reviews and footage for it before making this video it does look like a downgrade from that game in a lot of ways. I never liked the look of PLA but at least it seemed to run appropriately. The world seemed more interesting and having your character be a part of battling seemed like a no brainer. Very weird how little carryover there was to this game.
Imo at least graphic wise Legends was even worse than Sc/Vi. At least the gameplay was a big step up and could have initiated an ACTUALLY new generation of Pokémon, but nope, Gamefreak play it incredibly safe.
"The problem is the vista looks like straight up fucking shit". I got a lol out of that. I didn't buy these because even the trailers looked bad to me. I do like Legends, but I'm glad I did not waste my money on these. This might just be how the new games are from now on.
I agree while Scarlet and violet is a step up from other titles it also took 2 steps back the time and sales are destroying this game, i think that they are tired and running out of ideas for this Franchise and they have this weird if its not broken dont fix it, but forget that it could be improved upon, nostalgia wont last i think this was made not to kick out older audiences cuz most people especially YT'ers were going to quit if it sucked worse than it did, their are things that i like about Scarlet and violet but i uave to agree, this games seems to cater to competition's/competitive play and i stop doing only battles because of this the raids are fun for catching pokemon and for me catching them in certain pokeballs as a cosmetic, i dont think that they progressed at all its like taking 2 steps forward and 2 steps back only for fans to get mad because all their other games( since 3ds to switch) sucked at this was a step up from those games, and notice only those games people are saying that legends arceus is still better and they abandoned it for Scarlet and violet which is true cuz the dlc is lack luster, and i don't think they can do better than scarlet and violet, the next gen will be like scarlet and violet with a few tweaks and thats it
I don't care anymore about Pokemon after this Gen. We already have the Gems like Gen 2, 3 and 5. Pokémon Stadium, Colosseum, Snap and the Mystery Dungeon series 🧡
I think Arceus is the best pokemon game will get for a while, they are too concerned about keeping the cycle of money to give the team enough time to polish a game to BotW levels, and the problem is fans haven't set the right expectations, instead you still have people buying the two version packs, next time we should only let TH-camrs buy the game first, and wait for the full review and playthrough too see if it's worth a damn before spending money. If we do that with a single generation I shit you not GF will change how they do shit and give us a really good game
Problem is if they're a Pokemon based channel they're "compromised" for lack of a better word. As someone who has played Call of Duty for years, the TH-camrs are always a significant part of the problem. CODTubers and PokeTubers rely on selling you on the new game being awesome and poggers. If you aren't playing the new game, you're not watching their new videos, they're not generating revenue. They have a vested interest in generating positive buzz about these games regardless of their actual quality. Once your livelihood relies on a series, any objectivity you have about that series is pretty much gone.
I would LOVE if they made an HD2D style game (like Octopath Traveler and Live A Live for example) with the 3D buildings and 2D Pokemon. Imagine the shadows and how beautiful that would look!
LITERALLY right before you said it, I was thinking my favorite gimmick was the mega evolutions. I EVEN admitted how simple it was and nothing crazy. But I’ll be darned if I didn’t get a cool new evolution of my favorite Pokémon
Everyone on the internet before the games came out: lets cancel it / i wont buy it.... Reality: most sold Pokémon games 🤦♂️ I actually was tempted to get the games but didnt want to support this trash
You can easily pirate the games and emulate them on PC. Fitgirl Repacks has a version where it comes pre installed with an emulator, no knowledge or skill required. But why would you do that though? It would really just be a massive waste of time. Just watch someones youtube compilation if the story is that important to you.
The only I mean the only modern Pokémon games I have actual fun with is Pokémon ORAS, USUM, and PLA. And your not gonna roast Megas like that, because they have actual heart and thought went into that mechanic unlike Dynamax and Teras.
The battle animations needed to be set because of how the raids are time sensitive, instead of knock out sensitive in sword and shield. Helping arven with his dog was actually really emotional and felt good to help the two of them out. Also, penny is honestly my favorite character, I find her to be the most relatable n any game I have played
Gamefreak suffers from the same thing EA does, their fans. They will buy the game no matter what. Why would the company try to innovate or improve something they can copy/paste each year. Not excusing the evil greed of these companies but fans need to unite and boycott or you'll get more of the same.
I was so happy when I found out that I can rejoin the failed raids just by spamming the join button again... ...until I realized it still doesn't work, sometimes not even after 8x tries. I'm sitting here, trying to get into Tera Raids, sometimes it take 10 minutes to get into one. Restarted the game, system clock is fine, it's such a dogshit thing. I thought Sword and Shield online could not be worse but once again I am surprised
Area zero is different. What is the same, is the quality of graphics and textures and the poor performance. But, it is a different place shrouded and mysteries and is still the most interesting part of the game and overall one of the best parts of the franchise. The problem is that the game tried good stuff, but technically is a trash. Also, friendly rivals aren't bad. That's just your opinion but it's not necessarily a fault of them.
Yo the writing in this vid is hilarious 😂 you need more subs man! Also rip pokemon but at least the legends games seem to be in better shape than the main series (hoping the new legends game is as good as or better than arceus)
I havent bought a Pokemon game from Nintendo themselves since Pokemon Moon, and even then it took a while to consider it with my financial situation because it wasnt as exciting as it could be. Everything since I've either skipped or bought secondhand for no more than like $30 USD. I have to admit, gen 9 is the most fun I've had with the series for a while, Legends Arceus was brilliantly innovative, and SV really feels like an attempt to just get something interesting out for us through all the irresponsible dev decisions, at the cost of it being wonky and glitchy. This really does all come down to; they clearly need more than 3 years to develop a 3d Pokemon game. It's so obvious, and they are not churning out complete projects. They have their hands on a concept that can be made into something that will last with us for even 5 years at a time before we need a new addition, and they should treat it like that. They aren't going to lose fans in that waiting period, many of us are not ready for a new gen by the time one is out and WANT to enjoy the current one longer.
Reasons why Legends, even if it's a smaller game (and still VERY green in world visuals), feels way better to play than SV, they at least thought of making the battles fast, flashy and interesting. I keep coming back to Legends bc SV is just so damn ugly, slow and boring imo
I don't know exactly what goes on at Game Freak like how many teams they have or whatever, but to me it seems like EVERYTHING went into Legends Arceus, and then this game was rushed out half finished. My personal opinion is that they should take quite a bit more time on each individual main game instead of trying to force them out as quickly as possible as this game is the obvious result. I did still have a lot of fun playing the game, and both this and Legends Arceus are getting VERY close to the type of Poke game that I always dreamed of as a child, but yeah the game is very embarrassing for me though the core "fun" is enough that I enjoyed playing through it despite how bad it was.
Such an underrated channel. Found you on your disco Elysium video and have been a fan ever since. Great video as usual, and I hope this new year gives your channel the attention it deserves
I dont even want pokemon to change their formula. All i actually wanted from Pokemon was the following Character costumezation Allowing us to keep doing nuzlocks easier (set mode, notmallowing exp share to be always on) A hard mode Allowing us to choose our own adventure, as in doing the gym challenge or not, and giving us the choice to choose a new adventure with goals set (i always hated the gym challenge.) And actually use your polemons to move around. Not some random service, but your party and being able to control it. And i do not think that's is too much to ask. I rather not have big graphics or new battle things.
5:51 you think the hardware could handle the problem that gamefreak and Pokémon company could not solve… they are sadly still doing most of this on their own. If they had outside help… maybe, but that is neither here or there… I see this game a step in the right direction. Scarlet and violet are one half of a test for a grander game. The other half? Pokémon Legends Arceus. Since I see these game as test games. I am letting alot slide. Though, I still deeply enjoy the heck out of the games.
@@drdankbot well. I see your point, but they have to get funding from somewhere. Most of Pokémon’s revenue doesn’t go towards the games. Also they have to get each game done before a 2 year limit? Yeah… I get the $120 price tag. They most Pokémon games were worth it… except let’s go eevee/pikachu, and sword and shield… that sword/shield may be a product of dex being cut for the first time.
I mean... can we also stop acting like bugs, glitches and performance are the main problems of Pokémon? What people are praising here is absolutely insane. The battle system is... barebones but, yes, functional? What is so "strong" here about these incredibly simplistic battle mechanics? And it's... open world? Yeah? It is? Many games are, and it's not even done well? Are people really this blinded by brand loyalty and nostalgia? It's now an early 2000s JRPG instead of a 1990s handheld JRPG, by design standards. Yay...?

That conclusive statement couldn't make me laugh any harder now that Palworld exists.
I'm totally out of the pokemon scarlet and violet loop

Wait what what do you mean with this P.S
for food to be burned, it had to of been fully cooked first. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is like when the waiter brings your food raw
Remember that Nintendo only publishes the game, they don’t develop it. They don’t put on these restrictions, they only allow it. It’s not entirely their fault, it’s multiple companies.
(ppl are still gonna get it so it doesn’t really matter.)

@@suddens I just want my national dex back.😮💨
I would pay an unhealthy amount of money for a dark and mature pokemon game where you take on the mob in some gritty classic 1920's scenerio filled with pain and loss but an ultimately victorious adventure narrated by a beaten soul like that of Rorschach in the Watchmen .
I find it weird the Paldea anime started airing in 2023, is it just because the animation needed more time?
Does nobody know emulators exist anymore?
A game so boring that they make you go to class in school to have fun

i dislike the school uniform shit
and also i hate it how you get the “legendary “ pokemon at the start of the game. just ruins the mysteriousness of legendary pokemon
I like it cause miraidon is cute
Look how they massacred my boy
I gave the game an honest try and it’s probably the worst Pokémon game I’ve ever played honestly. Legends arceus and Pokémon sword were way better
If those inevitable Unova remakes screw up, that'll seriously be the last straw for me.
... Your childhood days were with Pokémon white 2? I've started with pokemon red and blue, get the f outta here you poser lmao

As for me, I have to take the following things into account as to who is responsible for the mess of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:
1. 90% of the Pokémon community wanted a game with better graphics instead of stable gameplay, and they got their wish.
Is the pokemon company...Apple?

Paldea is the epitome of "Crocodile Street" from Bruno schulz, where everything trying to copy something bizarre and amazing, but feels empty and fake
Fan made pokemon:😎🍷
Game freak:We rushed this games lol
At this point, we will be lucky if they dont just sell us the code to do the programming ourselves.
#1 Silver
#2 Blue
#3 Nemona
She really isn't a rival so much as a goal because she's playing you with kiddie gloves and you want to get her to take them off by beating her but like Blue and Silver she's still miles ahead of any of the other pathetic offerings Pokémon has called your 'rival'.
At least sonic frontiers did have a good story bro i'm serious
Speaking of nostalgia...
Even as a fan of generation 5, some of the gen 5 nostalgia bait in indigo disk made me want to PUKE.
If they completed the Development of this game it could have been my new fav Pokémon game.

And it's so pretty for the console!*
...Just please play any, I mean ANY other game in the console... you're too fixated in pokemon, literally just see what how pretty MARIO turned out...
I could go on a massive tangent about virtually everything in this game, but we would end up being here all day, so I will say one thing:
The Pokemon fanbase is garbage and I'm tired of pretending it isn't. The Pokemon fanbase defending slop like Scarlet and Violet is only one issue I have with it.
There are some good jokes in your script, nice job on this.
This made me think "what changes would I make if I had to fix the games?"
I've plenty of things I could say, but I want to just tackle one issue: the battle speed. (I wrote a Google Doc like I was going to make a video about it, but that's unlikely to happen so just ignore that, or hey, maybe steal it for yourself, Idc!)
「"Well, let’s look at the complaint that inspired this video: stat change messages!
4:24 they can just change the world building to pretend this type of thing dont happen between pokemon...
I’ve never played this game but it surprises me that no review mentions anything about the stupid bike dog thing. That alone makes it much more difficult to relate to your environment in any immersive or believable way. It’s just so stupid and inconsiderate with how it traverses the space and obstacles of the world.
You can kinda backwards long jump with it which is cool I guess lol
This game literally looks like a fucking Unity engine asset flip that you would find on Steam for $15. The repeating textures and the ugly and unrealistically flat lighting especially.
Fighting and dragon with kiraidon was certainly original but we definitely could’ve gotten a different typing for miraidon since zekrom was already an electric and dragon type legendary
What's even worse is that Koraidon sets sun with Orichalcum pulse...Despite Groudon existing and already having drought lol
Easily the worst Pokémon game on the switch
What about Let’s Go?
@@Ripley_X3 what about it? The game runs and performs fine and did its job as an HD reimagining of Pokemon yellow with a new gameplay concept while also including a fan favorite mechanic in Mega Evolution
Dude, I just want a new battle system
The Pokémon games should have been 2D anime graphical video games.
The raids of Sword and Shield were structured better
Paldea is also the lamest region of all (It’s a ghost town literally everywhere.) The only people I’ll really remember that well going forward are Iono (the only MEMORABLE Gym leader) and Miriam (the school nurse.)
I also say this a lot when I talk about this game and the changes they made:
“Why try to fix what isn’t broken?”
I don’t think Pokémon needs to be open world like this when I liked the formula they have reused.
They should have always been 2d.
3D is fine. From a visual perspective I liked X and Y back in the day. It was also smart about keeping the camera fixed so they could optimize the game a lot better. I'd happily go back to fixed camera if it meant the game didn't run like a 90 year old man escaping the old peoples home.
AAAAH DR DANKBOT UPLOADED
Wow you're right!
Us klawf enjoyers really had it rough in this game
I'm sure kids don't even like scarv
I would LOVE if they made an HD2D style game (like Octopath Traveler and Live A Live for example) with the 3D buildings and 2D Pokemon. Imagine the shadows and how beautiful that would look!
Being portuguese I was excited for this, but they done fucked it up.
Reality: most sold Pokémon games 🤦♂️
I actually was tempted to get the games but didnt want to support this trash
You can easily pirate the games and emulate them on PC. Fitgirl Repacks has a version where it comes pre installed with an emulator, no knowledge or skill required.
But why would you do that though? It would really just be a massive waste of time. Just watch someones youtube compilation if the story is that important to you.
The only I mean the only modern Pokémon games I have actual fun with is Pokémon ORAS, USUM, and PLA. And your not gonna roast Megas like that, because they have actual heart and thought went into that mechanic unlike Dynamax and Teras.
How many games have outright Bad music? Pretty much none. Most games with a big budget will have good music and Pokémons isn't particularly special.
I am a point that ill will not buy another Pokemon product a again
I bought some old Pokémon games second hand because ome of them were actually good.
The battle animations needed to be set because of how the raids are time sensitive, instead of knock out sensitive in sword and shield. Helping arven with his dog was actually really emotional and felt good to help the two of them out. Also, penny is honestly my favorite character, I find her to be the most relatable n any game I have played
I did like Arven and his dog. Mostly because I am a sucker for dogs lol
U can still have good short battle animations, these are dogshit bro. It’s not that hard to slide a model over and have it connect
@@yogainstructor4437 have you done any animating? What's deemed as "good" animating is not easy
Gamefreak suffers from the same thing EA does, their fans. They will buy the game no matter what. Why would the company try to innovate or improve something they can copy/paste each year. Not excusing the evil greed of these companies but fans need to unite and boycott or you'll get more of the same.
OH MY GOD STOP! WHO REALLY SAID THAT GREED SUITS ETC IS THE REASON GAMING IS GETTING!? IT'S GRAPHICLE FIDILITY OK?!
Those higher quality animations man
The graphics was like In Windows 95 era where you play Sims with Pokemon 😂
Wonderful video better than others
All i actually wanted from Pokemon was the following
Character costumezation
Allowing us to keep doing nuzlocks easier (set mode, notmallowing exp share to be always on)
A hard mode
Allowing us to choose our own adventure, as in doing the gym challenge or not, and giving us the choice to choose a new adventure with goals set (i always hated the gym challenge.)
And actually use your polemons to move around.
I would let this idea slide if their "test games" didn't cost the consumer $120. Hopefully their testing will pay off in the long run.
Yay...?
I like violet/scarlet enough but the game really struggles to load if you are on the water in casseroya lake
Damn veluzas
Can you tag the song from oddessy at the beginning, please? Love the song but forget the name.
It's the hood classic Steam Gardens
Go play PokeMMO and you gonna find back all the fun you had in your childhood with more features and a whole complete world
I need to check it out. I've seen it bubbling around for years but have been too paranoid that Nintendo will send their ninjas out to take it down lol
Very nice video, I enjoyed the editing and script a lot! Voice and audio levels very comfortable as well! How the fuck is this channel so small still?
Non existent "schedule", mixed with uploading topics I like instead of those that are maximized for SEO equal a channel that will rarely be algorithmically viable lol
