It was great for Hall and Oates to give Ruffin and Kendricks one more huge moment in the sun, the look on their faces. Of all the "reunions" that day, this one is probably the most underrated.
Hall and Oates brought some serious firepower to Live Aid with Eddie and David. Much love and respect to all of these four men. I pity the people who had to go on after them.
My heart always jumps for joy, when I can see and hear David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks. My mouth fell open when David dropped to his knees and came back up, MY MAN DAVID!! Hall & Oats were amazing as well. Forever missed and loved. 💯❤️ from Kentucky.
Happy and real nice to see Daryl livin' his dream come true. He can dance too! Temptations are bad ass! I've always liked them. All of their music. Please don't leave me girl Don't you go...
It's amazing how it's so second nature to him. He still passes the mic behind his back - despite it now being cordless. He needed to do it like that back in the day, otherwise the cord would wrap around his legs.
So grateful to Hall & Oates for doing this. I wore out 5 CDs listening to the Kendricks & Ruffin part. This is some of the best music ever and always makes me smile.
Why on earth only 42000 clicks-this is one of the greatest combos ever! And the first boy band-just watch the dance routines! And they play their music themselves,on real instruments, with real voices!! Great!!!
Incredible, you can see and feel the true love and admiration that Hall and Oates, and the whole band, have for two of the greatest ever, David Ruffin and Eddy Kendricks.
Hall and Oates nailed this.. This whole thing. I am amazed I haven't heard about them bringing a sinking ship back. OK technical difficulties were the main problem. But I woulda paid money to watch them on here. Those guys must've left the stadium only talking about Hall and Oates. Darryl Hall is a freaking legend. He's running the show ffs.
Hall and Oates got so much respect from R&B Soul listens during their time. This applied to various white artists like Teena Marie and some others. Maybe it was they weren't trying to be something they were not, they were just making good music and I remember we appreciated it . I'm still mad at my brother when he visited me from Texas, on the way home he stole my Rock and Soul Part I CD.....
What I just read is complete contradiction. We created music.. #RespectIt.. Don't mind me though.. I'm just watching & this rum got me a lil egotistical while reading these comments..
What great performing and dancing and singing and the instrument players - so glad I can see it on April 5, 2021 and previously on you tube. We'll never see such great performances!!!!!
how can I be in love with a man who's been gone for 30 years. During this concert I was 16. Thanks to my parents, I grew up listening to the Temps but was to young to appreciate their greatness. And I loved Hall and Oates. But David's voice. His swagger. I need therapy.
Always amazed me how Eddie kept his tone and range despite being a heavy smoker. Even in 85 they still had it. RIP to two of the best singers who ever lived. They just don't make em like this anymore.
There's a show called "Darryl's House" where Darryl Hall brings in old school soul singers and they each do each other's song. If I'm not mistaken, one of the Temptations (I forget which group) said "Daryl should have an afro man. He's got soul for days."
WOW 😲😲😲 how awesome this is. I just Love the combination. It looks so good. FOREVER LOVE!😇 JUST KEEP LOOKING☝️ALWAYS!!!! HE HAVE US COVERED WITH HIS SOFT ARMS AROUND EACH AND EVERYONE OF US!!! 🙏✌️❤️💪🇺🇸
thanks for posting this! xoxo I remember this concert fondly. Wow did they speed up the tempo on those songs? I remember it made me nervous watch it,LOL. You know the guys are cool when Daryl Hall is your backup singer. He was happy to do it. They were his idols.
I was around 24 when this event took place and had to go to my parents house to watch it. I got there at like 8 o’clock and ate breakfast with them, while I waited for it to kick off. I didn’t have cable in the rural part of my home. It’s a testament to how much my Dad loved me because he was from the old guard, he hated my music. Lol He was a rough and tough Korean War veteran and it wasn’t music unless it was OLD country and a little 50’s like Fats Domino and Chuck Berry. However when this came on, I caught him hanging around the living room watching. My Mother lived almost everything that day, she was a musician and loved most music, with the exception of heavy metal. This performance brings back that entire day I spent with them since I had got married and left. My wife hung out with my sisters and I brought my buddy with me, as he didn’t have MTV or cable as well. What a great day for music and a better day with my family. Miss you Mom and Dad and thanks for putting up with my years and years of playing guitar and listening to my music. Also R.I.P. David and Eddie.🙏 🎵 🎤 You guys we’re the soundtrack to my early teens.
David ruffin was my favorite David was the greatest one out of the group David ruffin and the temptation that sounds good ain't nobody coming to see you Otis I just want to say to my man's rest in peace David referend love you man God bless your family again rest in peace
I'm watching through the entire concert (LiveAidWizard has the full MTV and BBC broadcasts) and I might have to agree. I've seen the Queen set before and recognize how amazing it was, but I wasn't expecting to be so blown away by this. I legit got CHILLS from this.
Eddie was diagnosed with Throat cancer in (1992) he went back to his hometown of Birmingham Alabama and died same year. Plus at that time too he was already planning on retiring from Singing because of his vocal cords.
And he kept touring until he couldn’t stand. I read he toured on one lung after he had a lung removed as part of cancer treatment. Such a shame. He had such a unique and beautiful voice.
Ruffin's voice really really really held up through the years. Greatest of a generation.
Eddies voice pretty much was gone the smoking and he had cancer at this time as well I believe
@@jarmaincharleston7405 the smoking caused the lung cancer sadly it was self inflicted 😥

Fantastic performance! Daryl & John are having a great time and it really shows here, so much emotion and energy! 😊❤️

At 6:13 he STILL hit that move smooth as silk. I hope David and Eddie truly understood how much they are loved. ❤❤❤

@@cloudlounger6903 It looked the same as he always did it to me. 🤷♀️

Where's the Hall & Oates love? They were (and are) amazing!
Daryl is the 6th Temptation. His inspiration.
Its in the comments. People are giving them credit. The Temptations are legends and are still amazing.
Probably cause they're still alive and people are paying tribute to Eddie & David
Hall and Oates couldn’t carry David and Eddie’s water. Why should they be me ruined when this is about David and Eddie?
@@JamesAHollandMusicEasy, this is not a contest, it's MUSIC, you know, music is made to SHARE, this is part of what makes this so enjoyable.

I just had the biggest smile watching this. They were all great and looked like they were all having such fun. Miss them💕

David Ruffin is my favorite Temp, and he produced a beautiful sound so effortlessly.
Wow, how blessed to have been there??? Thankful I found this!!!! Take me to church...and back those roots..❤️❤️❤️❤️
It was wonderful to be there!!
It always touches my heart man to hear Eddie voice go away man but still had it in him and Ruffin too. Rip David N Eddie
Notice Eddie smiling, he was having fun
It’s so funny after all those years David can’t help still taking over the stage R.I.P guys motown’s best💙💙❤️
Stage precense and charisma. Did you see that move at 6:15?
David knows how to perform he is abundant with charisma.
Incredible, you can see and feel the true love and admiration that Hall and Oates, and the whole band, have for two of the greatest ever, David Ruffin and Eddy Kendricks.
Eddie Kendricks the absolute man
Some of the greatest vocalists of all time there. Especially David Ruffin.
They sound so good together ❤️. Eddie had alot of energy
now that's what I call a performance

Eddie lost much of his range by 77-78
@@061romellit was the cancer that did it, he would have an O2 tank backstage and use it between sets

I remember staying up until the very early hours to see this live, it was awesome then and still is now. 👍❤️
Well, David and Eddie were Temptations For Life!! I Loved that for them.
