David entrance to his performances was always the same. ON POINT. No matter what he knew he own the song and stage. It's like watching your daddy,grandfather, and older uncles just do what they do no matter their demons
David's voice NEVER faltered...he aged but his voice stayed prime. Eddie did so well, too. I don't understand life sometimes. I'm happy that Otis is here, but Eddie, David, and Paul are gone. My Lord. Happy for Daryl & John--I followed him doing this for at least 5 years...I remember an album that David and Eddie put out around 80 or 81. I wish I still had that tape.
As a generation x era kid born in the early 70s, this historic concert introduced me to Mr Hendricks, Mr Ruffin and the entire Legends that was the Temptations. Seeing this now classic multi duo set for the first time as a young teen in 1985 on music video it blew my mind. So in a sense these 4 gentleman had a huge role in saving the legendary Apollo Theater which if I remember correctly was about to permanently close. Now 35 years after this legendary performance the Apollo is more popular than ever expanding to all forms of other music genres as well. Much thanks to all of these 4 Rock N Roll Hall Famers. RIP David and Eddie.
Hall and Oates got so much respect from R&B Soul listeners turn their time. This applied to various white artists like Teena Marie and some others. Maybe it was they weren't trying to be something they were not, they were just making good music and I remember we appreciated it . I admire Daryl and John's courage and stamina so much on the stage. If it were me, I not only wouldn't be able to stand still because my legs would be shaking in the presence of Eddie and David, but I would be crying and unable to sing. This is so wonderful. Thank you so much for posting this.

I just can't help but smile when I hear these gentlemen sing. I saw them at the MGM casino in November 2021. Undeniably one of the best shows I've ever been to. They still got it!
I always loved the music of DarylHall and John Oates. Yet listening to them perform with Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin of the legendary Temptations is absolute magic! The first time I saw the video, I was in my teens and knew little about the Temptations. It was obvious that everyone enjoyed performing. David, Eddie, Melvin Franklin, and Paul Williams are deeply missed, yet fondly remembered for their contributions to music.
This is the way Eddie and David should’ve been if they appeared on Motown 25. Makes me VERY sad they weren’t part of that. However, Hall & Oates took their idols and hooked them up and they were on Live Aid, got a new record deal etc.
That was a slap in the face to temptation fans and motown fans the two men that put temptations on the map and not the temps they solo careers at motown as well that was a big let down to everyone who were temps and motown fans shame on them

Motown bass player James Jamerson had to buy a ticket to the show from a scalper! They only really focused on the Temps, Tops, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5, Michael Jackson and Diana and the Supremes.
It amazes me how hall and oetes always idolized groups such as the temptations a chance to work with Eddie kendricks and David Ruffin not to mention the rock and roll hall of fame hall and oates themselves a great rock and roll band
