i would love to see a Riptide Feraligatr (Neo Genesis). Thats my favourite deck in the first 2 formats (base - neo, and Team rocket - Neo Destiny).
I've tried building it in standard using the Feraligatr in Dragon Majesty, but only had some mild success. its more of a rogue deck in standard than anything competitive. (I did beat a Pikarom deck online with the riptide feraligatr in dragon majesty though a month back, using cards like capacious bucket and professor's Research.)

@@ericwilki207 Wizards was only responsible for distributing the cards in English they never designed any Pokemon cards (except for a few promo cards and Dark Raichu). Also Wizards was making the game unfair by enforcing rules that never existed in the original game anyways. It's all on Jason Klaczynski's blog he made a separate article on how Wizards changed the game for the worst. I think it was Neo-Sky Ridge format but I could be wrong.

ah yes, sneasel was so good. paired with slowking, you just locked your opponent out of the game basically. also a baby with a focus band? byebye. running donphan with roll out, hit for 50, switch with cleffa with a focus band. favorite types of decks were abusing those dark and metal energies.. base chansey double edge with metal energy, you take way less damage since you not only deal less damage you take less as well, so you double dip with metal energy on an attack like double edge. love it! keep up the retro stuff :)

I think Elekid was a good card that could go in virtually any deck, but I think the problem was that no deck really needed it and it would almost always be taking up a spot that could go to a more useful card. That’s why I think it didn’t get played a lot.
Especially if you were playing with Slowking’s English translation legal, which was the ruling back then, because then you would always use Igglybuff over Elekid. Any elective spaces you had in your deck would go to Igglybuffs, because Slowking was such a nightmare to deal with.

I'm happy to see this video, because I have a theory that you might be able to put to the test: Contrary to popular belief, I believe that there was a good way to build a Rain-Dance deck in the Base-Jungle format. The key to this deck's success is Jungle Cubone. Haymaker has no easy way to KO it (especially if ER is used against Scyther), and it can retreat for one energy (which makes it better than Jungle Rhyhorn for this deck). Once Blastoise has 5 water energies, it can dominate even against Electabuzzes (again, especially if ER prevents them from using Thunderpunch before they have 60 damage on them). Do you think you'd be able to play a Base-Jungle match of Haymaker against a version of Klaczynski's Rain Dance that uses Cubone and ER instead of Magikarp and Gyarados?

2004 meta is all Team magma's groudon. though Gardevoir ex, Blaziken and Swamepert saw play at worlds that year (making the top lists for each age division). Wailord/Fossils with Bellossom though is my personal favourite rogue deck though. its so fun, yet cancer at the same time. Fossils don't count as prizes (just like lillie's pokedoll) for the opponent so you can just stall with them while building up a huge 200HP attacker!

i think Base Gym Challenge should be a format, Steel and Dark energy made A LOT of cards playable, Chansey was a great card after Steel came out.
with Neo i didnt like Baby pokemon and a lot of the trainers were okay other then the berrys.
If i had a choice i would Re-work the pokemon in the Team rocket set(change HP and attack power etc) cause i think base-neo would be an amazing format if there were a few changes

LOL this matchup never really had the chance to occur bc Sneasel got banned almost immediately! In fact, when Neo Genesis was legal, no one was still playing Blastoise or Raindance....even Wigglytuff, the eternal menace for years prior, was pretty much relegated to the dustbin! Cleffa was such an influential card....it killed the Trapper deck, it killed all remnants of "Insanity" decks that milled themselves trying to KO with PlusPowers and sometimes Erika's Jigglypuff....it killed off Slowking!! it paved the way for the modern era of Feraligatr and Typhlosion/Blaine's Arcanine and Crobat decks, finally decks that used Evolved Pokemon instead of just Basic Pokemon, a problem that plagued the game for its earliest years and went against everything Pokemon was supposed to be!

Now 60HP on a basic evolving pokemon is mediocre. i tell him about the new cards that come out, and he goes insane saying how busted that is, (like big HP pokemon) when the card is just "OK" in todays format.
