    Love how Mahone plays with all types of cards (vintage, modern) as the TCG was meant to be played.

    Thank you for continuing to do these! I know it's more of a niche thing than "Standard meme deck donks ADP" videos, but I really do enjoy them. A lot of the old formats are really underdocumented on the internet; for some formats, the most info you'll find is just what's written Jason K's blog post and that's it. So it's great to see all eras of the tcg getting some love and some new exploration here 💛

    I like what you’re doing with these retro format videos. We can’t experience these formats (aside from tcg one and proxying cards but that’s not as good 😅) so it’s great that you can post videos of these games so we can experience these retro formats

    Man, I've mentioned this before, but Pokemon/Nintendo/Game Freak is missing out on a potential gold mine. Imagine reviving the Pokemon TCG video games and releasing a game every year or two that mimics major formats of the past. Releasing *every* format would obviously be somewhat redundant and excessive. But they could do like Gen 1-2 then gen 2-3, then 3-4, 4-5, 5-6, 6-7. They'd always release games that are based around out of print cards so they'd never be competing with themselves or hurting their own sales, but it would let newer/younger players experience older formats and cards and older players could relive the nostalgia.
    It would even be a reasonably easy game for them to make once they have the base game engine done. Each game after the first would only need to add some updated music (which could be remixes of music from that era of the series) and implement any new card mechanics that were added in that era.
    They could even go a step further and have online multiplayer and a simple ranked ladder. This wouldn't compete with PTCGO because that game would always be based on in-print sets that are the current competitive standard, expanded and legacy formats. Official competitions would still be based on those formats (post pandemic) would be in person or held there.
    But the video games on Switch would make them more money and provide another avenue to attract fans to the main TCG while also providing an option for casual fans to enjoy the series without having to fork out hundreds or thousands of dollars on old cards.
    Also, can I ask if you guys already had these decks, or did you have to shovel out cash to build them?

    • @TrickyGym
      @TrickyGym  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That’s a really cool concept! We could only dream of such a game series. We already owned these decks and have been building our collection for years before the recent price boom

    Rainbow Energy supposedly provides every type of energy at all times. So did it suddenly start providing Darkness and Metal energy at the beginning of the Neo era? Or was it already providing those types, as well as Fairy, and nobody knew? Will Aurora Energy keep providing the ghost of Fairy energy after the last Fairy cards rotate out in September?

    I love vintage Pokemon, but I'm tired of everything revolving around it being stuck with people trying to replicate old formats and their rules and nuances. Don't you feel like 4x Cleffa in nearly every deck is a problem? Why not just focus on supporting a wotc only format? The supporters in expedition-skyridge add a lot to decks, and cards like copycat and fan club can help alleviate the need for 4x cleffa. You also get to add some strats for having a slightly larger card pool, without compromising on power level, which would happen after including ruby/sapphire. MTG did this wonderfully with Old School, I really wish this could get supported more by the pokemon community. Adding Pocket Monster cards increases decks as well, and makes expensive holos more accessible.
