WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?
The Atheist Experience is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

I love how as an atheist I'm constantly accused of being angry, or that I'm just being an 'emotional' woman. No matter how calm and matter of fact I am, I must be angry at god or have daddy issues etc.
This guy is a good example of how religious people come at us full already angry & defensive AF. I really feel like it's almost always the religious person who comes in swinging, when the atheist is just trying to calmly explain themselves.
I get angry about willful ignorance. People are so convinced about their religious and political views that they're immune to reason 🙄

The reason theists turn to rage is because their religion is part of their personality, so it feels like an attack on them when their religion is questioned.
"I must be angry at god" it's just projection. After all, the only reason they're Christian is because they're angry at Zeus. At least that's my response every time I hear that line.

This guy seems so angry against people who think differently. It's terrifying that some people take the lack of belief as a personal offense and become so violent because of it.
It’s a personality type. I’ve met people like that about all sorts of knowledge domains. Knew a guy who was like this about homeopathy, got really upset if you didn’t take him at his word for it. They see it as a personal challenge.

He comes across as the type at work, at the mall, at the park etc. that will approach people and strike up a conversation and when the person asks a question it says they aren’t interested he’ll go into “attack” mode.

I really feel sorry for people like this. Hopefully one day he'll push far more people away from religion by acting as he does. Most Atheists used to be theists, and that's something that haunts them.

I'm not sure most atheists used to be theists, if you include not theistic religions, I'd say most atheists have never been theists.
In fairness, most atheists that were theists were not in religion by choice it was usually a case of parental indoctrination / abuse but you do make very good points
@@garybaltiejus7248 Exactly. That's also why most theists are theists. Indoctrination is the main reason people are religious. Events leading to spiritual journeys do occur, but the former is the main reason. A lot of theism is also lateral. Switching religions, for example.

I’m an atheist, but if I remember correctly, Muhammad said something along the lines of how humility and dignity go hand in hand. The uncontrolled rage I witnessed in this phone call, along with the inability to communicate in a civil manner, is, frankly, vile-and is another example of believers not practicing what they preach. I genuinely hope that this caller doesn’t use the same attitude towards his loved ones when they disagree with him, because that behavior is pretty terrifying.
