      Not just reading the macro list. You have to read the ingredient list also. You have to know all the names of sugar because there are many and they sneak them in.

      Not realizing that when a label says “0 carbs” that’s not necessarily true. Just like you mentioned there are hidden carbs and I did not know that! I will be more watchful when preparing meals. Thank you beautiful Mayra!!

      Falling in to the trap of the keto friendly breads that will kick you out of ketosis or stall your weight! Also watching for sneaky carbs called by other names and also the wrong kinds of fats! Olive oil or avocado oil that’s not actually those oils!

    One mistake I made when I first started keto was allowing myself to “cheat” on the weekends. I would eat keto Monday thru Friday but on Saturday and Sunday I would have a carb overload and my sugar cravings never went away and one day my cheat weekend turned into a cheat week, then a month, then 3 months and I gained back the 25 lbs I lost!
    Now I don’t allow myself “off days” where I consume sugar or starchy carbs. I stay committed to this lifestyle and I’m down 85 lbs!

      This was very motivating to read. I’m only 1 week into this lifestyle and surprisingly I’m not craving any sugar or starch as of yet. I really hope I can stay the course and not give into any unhealthy foods. Congrats on your weight loss.

    When I first started Keto, i believed all those packages the said they were Keto friendly, or keto approved. After learning to read the actual ingredients and what to avoid, I was amazed at the false advertising they get away with. Now it’s all home made only and recipes from channels like yours!! Thanks for all the great recipes!

      I found a "keto approved" snack bar, read the back, and it had over 5 GRAMS of carbs in it! That's absolutely ridiculous

    I’ve been eating keto style since May. I’ve lost 43lbs so far without exercising (I’m 63 and sedentary). Everything you said I agree with because I made all of those mistakes and hit a stall or fell out of ketosis so I made the change and learned what ‘works’ for me personally. Cutting WAY BACK on sweeteners and Dairy helped more than I even expected!

    I lost 22 pounds in 2 months. It works. I exercised 2-3 times a week. I fasted 12am till 12 pm as I work the night shift .

    The biggest mistake, most tend to overlook... is the amount of times, your food is consumed. Even a snack or fat-bomb. A sweet treat. They all cause insulin production. When insulin is activated... weight loss stops, until insulin has performed its function. So, if you are hitting a plateau... or not getting the results you are life-styling for... consider extending the time between consuming anything other than appropriate fluids. IF-Intermittent Fasting. Pick an 8 hour window of your day, to eat. Say, 10a to 6p. Try not to eat 3 or 4 hours before bed. Then shrink that eating window to 6... 4... or even OMAD-One meal A Day! Changing things up, is how you change things for you! This is a lifestyle... a WOE-Way Of Eating. (There’s no going back.) You can visit... but not without a price. Find what works for you! For many... eating fat and protein provides satiety. You simply are not hungry, much of the day? Sweet treats, are still a matter of discipline and motivation. We are all pulling for each other!

    Omyfukingosh!!!!! God sent you my way tonight🙏🏾. I was getting discouraged, lost only 16lbs in 2 months then weight stop and everything you said, girl I’m doing🤦🏽‍♀️. I’m thinking just cuz it’s keto I’m ok. Wasn’t tracking my macros...omg I’m doing it all wrong😫. When I first started out I was meat and veg and water only and I was good but when I found the keto desserts I got too damn happy and over eat........omg thank you so much👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

      16 lbs in 2 months is great!!! Have you considered getting a glucose/keto monitor like keto mojo? It helped me understand what knocks me out of ketosis.
      Don’t eat the keto desserts. Your body can get confused and start craving sweets and carbs.

    Only thing I disagree with is this; plenty of people may be coming off of a VERY heavy sweets diet, so it really is okay- imho- to get your 20 carbs from whatever gets you through the day- esp. @first.~ just sayin' =)
    For instance, my daily routine included eating very well during the day, then at night before bed I had my cup of hot tea & a bunch of homemade caramels &/or fruit slices (candy). That was the one habit I needed to alter most, & I did that by substituting SF caramel, &/or a keto 'treat' bar- like caramel mousse, oh heck yes! As the sugar left my body, I was able to break that daily habit , because my body was not getting the sugar rush anymore, so it went away. Now, I'm fine w/just tea or decaf at end of day~ w/treat being occasional.
    Just wanted to throw that in there because I doubt I'm the only one w/similar 'reward' routine, & I did struggle w/just cutting that off completely- at first.

    I was tracking my carbs but NOT my calories omg. It shocked me how few 1400 calories was - I was going way overboard eating nuts which are so calorie heavy even tho they’re good for you...I definitely need to use the cooking scale to exactly measure out how much 1 serving in grams of nuts is.

    I was eating way too much protein in the beginning. My fat was my protein and it was too much. Once I reduced my animal protein some, my weight dropped. I’m stalled again, but I think it’s because I drink too much coffee with heavy cream and stevia. It’s so hard in the winter months. I’m so sluggish without coffee and I can’t drink it black.

      My 500 MG of Magnesium oxide is not working so I take 800mg. Still constipated. What should I do.

    Is using Propel powder daily the same as drinking the electrolytes you mention? I’m not sure but other people but $40 a month for just one of the drinks is expensive. The Propel powder is $11 for a pack of 5, each pack contains 10 servings (50 total servings).

    Thank you Myra! I keep a written journal of what I eat daily. I also created my own excel spread sheet of food items I eat every day such as meats, nuts, dairy, coconut milk & cream, berry fruits, all treats, keto breads, etc. I have quick reference so I can track what I eat to stay on track at a snap of my fingers. Of course, some days are better than others! I drink LMNT electrolyte replacement with Stevia. Thank you for all of your insightful hints I Love to see your videos every morning with my morning coffee!

    I've lost around 25 lbs in the last 2.5 months. I have a history of binge eating sweets, so to make this sustainable, I've had to incorporate keto treats into my diet. It has helped me to avoid binging, and I feel like I have enough control to just eat a small portion, when I crave it. I don't feel like you have to be that strict for keto to work, but I guess that depends on each person. I will likely hit a plateau eventually, but for now, I'm happy with my progression. I still have around 20 lbs I'd like to lose. I'm new to your channel, but look forward to trying many of your recipes!

    Super helpful. I hit a 5 month stall and couldn’t figure out why. I was doing at least 2 of these mistakes. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Wish I found this video sooner but I’m glad I figured it out and have started loosing again. 😅

      To be honest with you I struggle with all of these mistakes. Yes I am still on Keto. I took a break during the holidays and started again Jan 1st. Right now I'm loosing weight again trying to get back to where I was. She hit the nail on the head with these points though. Be mindful of these and I'm sure you will start loosing again.

      Asma Muhammad I think the best place to investigate is your macros. Making sure your not consuming too much in one area and not enough in another. If everything is balanced properly you will be on the right track. Blessings!!!

    I found you about a week ago and thank God I did. I have been on Keto for 20 years played the yo-yo with my weight I lost 125 pounds.     Yes yes girl!! I ate all the treats I would see and I would make recipes that was heavy in dairy and the scale did not go down and also ranch dressing sometime have soy and biggie oil and the same with some mayo when I reduce it weight poured off. Sam with heavy cream in coffee I use almond creamer game changer. Thanks great hel

    Tracking my macros and late night eating is what gets me. Once in awhile I just feel like munching in bed and I definitely see it on the scale right away. Ugh! Working harder at it in 21

      You can download the app carb manager or my fitness pal. There might be others. It'll help you track the macros. That means checking the amount of grams you're having for each food category, ie proteins, carbs and fats.

    Sandra Westley I have also become very sensitive to sweeteners, I was using chewing gum here in the UK and I was stalling, and I was like, what have I changed to stop the diet working, and it dawned on me, to get through my intermittent fasting each night I was using chewing gum. Trouble is I now have 5 boxes in the cupboard and don’t touch them😂😂

    Wow I never knew about heavy cream! I use it quite a lot and haven’t lost any weight for 3 weeks now! So minimal cream for a few weeks to see if it makes as difference 🤞

    I know Keto and Low carb are like cousins. But I’ve been doing Low carb rather than Keto. Keto is a bit too extreme for me. I maintain 50-70 g net carbs a day. And because I was consuming an average of 500-2000+ carbs a day before, my body is responding quite well to this drastic change... in other words, I’m losing weight. But I’m watching this video to know what not to do... I’m only on week 2🥺

    I think another mistake people make is thinking that they don't need to be calorie-conscious if they're trying to lose weight. Too many people think that they're fine because they stay at or under 20 net carbs, and that's definitely not the case!

    My biggest mistake was overthinking it and stocking up foods that I didn’t even eat because so many people told me to buy keto powder meal replacements, swerve, lakanto(main ingredient is erythritol NOT monk fruit even though they call themselves a monk fruit sweetener-I think false advertising), keto wraps, etc. Erythritol wrecked my stomach and my daughters (6 & 10 at the time) thought they were going to throw up after I made muffins using Swerve. I found out I didn’t even need all those subs and just needed to eat real food!!
    Cronometer is another great (& free) app for tracking macros and micros.

    Carb tracker is mine. I was doing 15 carbs a day I decided I am doing 20 carbs now that’s better.

    When the diet was over.. I went crazy on all the goodness I deprived myself of during the diet... I should took it slow as the body is super sensitive to carbs 😫

    I eat great but my problem are definitely too many keto sweets, my sweet cravings won’t stop, but I’m gonna control them, yes or yes! How many a week should we have?

      It really can depend on your macros for the day. Keep them minimal maybe more like a weekend treat.

    Hi! Just found you two days ago. I don't know what I weighed when I started three weeks ago but I think it was like 170. Now I am at 149 or less and I do not eat much - but have been at same weight for five days. I have no idea what a macro is. The only thing I think I have done wrong is drink crystal light lemondade. I just ordered a bunch of products from Amazon and am going to try to make some of your desserts. I haven't been exercising but will try to start today because I have been very tired (I just got my second covid vaccine shot and I think that is why.) Thank you for the video. Is it bad to have a plain rice cake with 3 net carbs with a slice of cheese?

      Macros come from macro (big) nutrients: carbohydrates, protein and fat. Micronutrients (small nutrients) are vitamins and minerals. The crystal light lemonade is good to prevent kidney stones because it has potassium citrate. So potassium citrate in some form is essential. I use ready to drink Propel bottles, and I'm going to try Lemonade from True Lemon (powder form) to see if I like it. If you are tired try to eat more salt in your diet, it will help you feel better, specially if you feel lightheaded or hungry in between. I take coarse pink salt and swallow the granules like they are a pill and chase they with some water. As long as you track the carbohydrates in everything you eat: it should be 20 grams a day so, if you can afford the 3 net carbs, go ahead.
