I'm currently trying to do Ketovore. Have you ever tried Carnivore Myra and could you do a video on what it was like if you did or why you didn't try Carnivore?
I was diagnosed as a type two diabetic and started watching your videos to get ideas on low carb meals but found out from my doctor that I can’t count net carbs , but I have to take into consideration the total carbs. I wrote everything down in a notebook. I’ve lost 90 pounds over the course of two years. I didn’t lose anything last year but I’ve recently started losing again. I see my doctor twice a year and do not check daily blood sugar or take any medication for diabetes. Every thing is diet controlled. I’m down to 219 from 309, but I figured my body had to learn to live at one weight for a while before I started losing again. You were my inspiration. I turn 70 next week.
I had gestational diabetes and one thing they said I could have as late night snack that doesn’t spike your blood sugar at night is ice cream. I know it sounds crazy but it worked. I didn’t need medication it was just diet control. I love leave cream by it self so I used that as a snack. I know it might sound gross for some people. Also dairy in the morning spikes sugar they don’t know why but it does. Anyways keep up that great job you’ve done!
I am so grateful for the content you provide. I have been following you since September of 2021. I decided to loose weight as a birthday gift to myself. I have lost 70 pounds and counting with your help from the videos. I cannot thank you enough!!
Congrats!!! I started atkins on oct. 25, 2020 and lost 131lbs and have been maintaining for the last year! I got labs before I started, then every 6mths up till now. Im about to go after a year. Awesome job!!!!
Every body that loves chocolate milk shakes Try 1 cup of chocolate carbmaster milk from Krogers ,2 Tables of cool whip, and I like Diet A&W root beer no ice cubes as long as every ingredient is cold , mixed together in a cup no blender that's it...
Your videos have helped me to take off 65 pounds and keep it off for 3 years. I practice a low carb lifestyle and I feel wonderful. Thank you for sharing❤️
Awe thank you so much for sharing this with me. Everything I do (recipes, informative videos, etc) is to help you guys succeed on your weight loss and maintenance journeys. Stories like this make everything I do worth it 💯❤️ Keep going strong!
Congrats! 👏🏻 I need to lose 60 pounds and just started slow carb. Could you please say How did you deal with sugar cravings and how long did it take you?
My husband and I both did what we call “dirty keto”. We did keto mixed with low carb. Both lost weight quickly working out but still enjoying food snacks etc. I just now hit my 60 pound weight loss but it did take me a couple years which I don’t mind. This is the healthiest and best I have ever felt not to mention (living with in laws right now who do not eat healthy take a toll some days but doing portions for sure to meet in the middle). Love this video!! ❤
I lost 35lbs on Keto in a short time. I was constantly tracking and making sure I hit goals. I have definitely hit my goals and I feel amazing. However, I was also feeling too restricted and started having a bites of things I wouldnt have on Keto. I felt I was starting to fall off the wagon. Im not really sure where I am, either low carb or keto but I think I am in between. I am now under my weight goal and I sometimes fluxuate because I give myself the opportunity to eat whatever once and a while but not too much of it, just to satisfy. But I always end up under my weight when I refocus. Starting Keto was one of the best things for me because now I pay more attention to ingredients, carbs, fats etc which has been a world of wonders for me and my family. I dont force keto/low carb on anyone but myself however my family sometimes doesn't even realize some of the substitutes I make and they still love it.
I've lost 45 lbs doing keto. Now, I do dirty keto, with IF, and I'm maintaining extremely well. My advice for the low carb diet is to really pay attention as to how the extra carbs affect you. If the "hungry monster" starts bothering you, and you give in to him, you'll slip back to where you came from. I've done both low carb and keto.
I really appreciate your conversation delivery method. Having watched other channels and seeing the bossy authority some people project is off-putting. Thank you for being authentic and real. ❤❤❤
I do neither. I eat a CLEAN, well balanced diet. I love your channel and use many of your recipes. Some of my meals are just naturally low carb. Thanks👍
Would you walk us through a day of eating on low carb? The meals you eat and what the snacks are, if you snack, and then compare it to what you would eat on KETO. I JUST NEED MORE INFO. Please do another video on this. Thanks.
That a waste of time. For low carb, just start reading food labels and make sure you are eating under 225 total carbs per days. It’s NOT rocket science. SMH
@@videogazer801 What am I missing in your comment? 🤷♀️ If I understand you correctly you said “read food labels and for low carb keep carb count under 225 per day.” But in this vlog the lady commentator said for Low Carb diet keep the carb count under 100 per day, I think! 🤔 Why are you saying 225 carbs instead of 100 carbs? Help me understand!! smh 🤦♀️
I started on keto with time restricted eating (16/8) and lost almost 40 lbs. in about 7 months. Goal was 45 so I’m not quite there. However, I believe that I have added muscle while losing fat, so despite not seeing much change in weight, I am still seeing change in what my body looks like - body composition is still changing after 10 months. Yay! After that 7 months, I started adding more carbs and protein and less fat. I want my body to use my fat for fuel, not only what comes from food. My current macros aim at 95g protein, 40g net carbs and 80g fat which provides about 1,260 calories per day. That is a deficit of about 350 calories on average. (I’m small and have a resting metabolic rate of only 1,070 calories). I continue to do the time restricted eating, but vary days and times with 2 free days per week. It may have slowed weight loss, but I am more energetic now than a year ago, eat a greater variety of foods than when I started, and have a better view of the future. My former lifestyle probably contributed to both Covid and cancer, neither of which I would care to experience again!
I lost 50 lbs on keto and intermittent fasting combined during COVID and then I got pregnant and gained it back throughout my pregnancy and now I’m 6m postpartum and am doing low carb but mostly just focusing on eating healthy! I lost 12 lbs last month! Love your videos and recipes!
Years ago I did Atkins and lost a lot of weight but gained it back abuse I didn’t stay with it….now I do low carb, under 20 grams net carbs daily. I’ve lost 43 lbs since 2020 and am maintaining my weight. I’m so happy eating this way that I don’t consider it a diet but a lifestyle. I’ll never go back to eating any other way. I enjoy your videos and have started making many different recipes thanks to you and others, plus the comments from your viewers who give me such great ideas! I’m almost 76 but feel like I’m in my 20’s!!! I also ride a stationary bike almost every day for 30 minutes. Thanks for helping us become our better selves. It’s never too late!
This was so helpful. I've done keto in the past and lost 50lbs from it, but I gained it back. I have a better understanding about food now, so I plan on doing it again. No matter what "diet" I've done, I've always felt the best doing keto. The weight falls off, my skin flourishes, my energy is through the roof, and my cravings are non-existent. The only con is the restrictiveness. But like you said, I want to focus on how I feel rather than the restriction. I've never tried low carb low fat. That's something I wouldn't mind giving a try.
I changed my eating habits in 2017. I my goal was to improve my heath!!! Someone asked if it was keto and I said what's keto? I started watching videos and educated myself without labeling it other than to say my goal is to feel and be healthier. I am an emotional eater by nature so I substituted what I ate with healthier versions. I realized that I thrived when I ate lower carbs healthy fats and non processed foods. I did loose weight got off several meds and educated myself on what was best for me. I did not follow what a follow what a Dr. said or prescribed unless I researched and agreed. I've realized that I have to advocate for myself the bottom line is money for big pharma. I am a regular person who sometimes eats more of something than I know I should and that's ok!!! We need to be kind to ourselves and stop judging what anyone else is doing. Life is hard enough especially with so much division going on. I wish you all good health, grace, and kindness.💖
iv tried both but learned as I aged my body likes fasting with a high protein low carb diet...its always been hard for me to gain or maintain weight...at age 53 im still eating alot just to keep my on plus iv been exercising since my teen years so I think that also has something to do with it...mabey a fast metabolism too
I do a combo of both. I've noticed that I feel the best doing this. #1 I don't drink my sugar so water, coffee and tea mostly. #2 I'm just conscious of what I'm eating. #3 I eat when I'm hungry most days that might not be until noon sometimes it's at 9am I listen to my body and eat when Im hungry. If I have a desert this is where keto comes in I'll make something low carb or keto so I can eat it and not feel horrible. I have lost 30lbs kinda slowly which with my health issues is better for me. My problem is activity or working out. I'm working through it but I think if I get consistent with working out I'll drop more weight. I don't do labels nor do I track or test for ketones hitting ketosis is not my goal it's feeling better.
Hello, since I retired in December 2022 and started a low carb, low sugar diet I’ve lost 35 lbs. I am a snacker and a sugar lover but have been trying to make things low sugar. It’s a struggle for me for sure. I’m 63 and losing weight is hard. I love your videos keep them coming please!
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 6 years ago. I didn't want to be on medication, so I started eating low carb and I haven't had any issues with my diabetes and still not on medication! It was hard to adjust to but my motivation was how good I felt and how much energy I had when I fueled my body with the right food.
I started my weight loss journey in May of this year. My goal was 35 pounds and I’m now at 32 down. When I started this journey I looked at several videos with this nutritionist explaining how to do intermittent fasting. I learned a lot with that and also cut everything white out my diet. I ran across your page explaining everything about low carb and it was a win win for me. I do intermediate fasting 18/6, and low carb it works for me. I want this to be a lifestyle so I will be able to maintain my weight. It’s not easy but my support team is amazing. Good luck to everyone and I pray this is a start for healthy living. Stay safe everyone
I do dirty keto and have found that it works well for me...before the pandemic I had lost almost 40lbs and was on a role. Once everything went into shutdown I fell off the wagon. I have recently started back onto keto and have lost 11lbs. I am a huge snacker and I have a huge sweet tooth but I have found ways around it. I tend to keep my carbs in the 30-35 net carb range and that works for me. Some days I may eat less carbs depending on what I am eating and some days I may eat more. But I have found that I do better at eating if I do a little meal prepping ahead of time.
I started keto in 2019. I must say you and your recipes made it easier and more manageable. I don’t always stay with keto. I go back and forth with low carbs to sometimes nothing at all. But every time i need to prepare for a photoshoot keto it is then low carb after the desired goal.
Been lowcarb since I started my journey but didn’t know the difference. I lean more toward the keto carbs but without all the fat.. Have lost well over 60ibs and I thank God! Finding your channel has helped me so much! You’ve showed me how to have fun AND be healthy.. labeling my lifestyle choice also plays with my mind so I just say low carb/low fat/high protein as well. I can’t wait to see what else you’ve got coming!! God bless and thanks as always ❤
I have been following you for several years now and I love all the info and menu items you share! I decided a year or so ago to go on a keto diet. I am diabetic and my doctor said to try to eat Keto. So, since I watched you for a bit, I started. I had an A1C of 8.9 (9 you are on insulin). A few months ago my A1C was 6.5!!! So it definitely works. I do not stay strictly Keto as I believe to enjoy yourself. Indulge a little here and there. I do feel kind of sick when I do, so I watch it very carefully. You have been a HUGE help in my journey because I love a lot of your recipes. That has helped so much! Anyway, that is my story. Thank you for all you do, Myra! You rock....love ya!!!!!! :)
I don’t do keto to lose weight. I do not want to lose but I have a neurological illness and ketosis helps me so much! It’s tough to find a balance between being in ketosis and not losing too much. I can’t eat enough to not lose. So I carb cycle on the weekends to find a balance.
Thank you so much for sharing! I found your channel a few years ago and started doing my own research on the different types of lifestyle changes. I have lost a 146 lbs in the past 3 years. I started at 278lbs and started with a low carb diet with fasting and cardio. As I got stronger I started toning. As I continued to lose weight I found that consistency was the key just as you stated here today. There have been ups and downs and there have been so many mental challenges along the way but it has been a lifestyle change that I have enjoyed. Thank you for your cooking video. Without those I truly would be lost!
I have lost 83 pounds in total. My first 50 were on keto and the rest have been on low carb. To me both diets are amazing as long as you maintain yourself disciplined and focused on your goals and include exercise.
I just subscribed to your program….l’m 77 yrs old & it’s been difficult to lose weight. After u explained the difference n low carb & keto I now understand. Thank you for being so knowledgeable on the healthy low carb diets & keep explaining ways to enjoy healthy food.
I can't stick with Keto, I don't like a lot of fatty foods, Low carb works for me because I love my veggies and fruits, I have to have potatoes everyday, I love them. I keep my carbs under 130g a day and I am losing 1 to 2 lbs a week, I am happy with that because it is sustainable long term for me.
Thank you for this video!! bench watching weight loss videos trying to get an understanding on how to do Keto or Low Carb. Yours was THE only one who broke it down. It was like a girl friend talking to me who knew how much I love to snack and eat alot protein. Thank you 😢
Great video, great info! I’ve done keto mostly for the past couple of years. But I do find it is getting hard to maintain. I bounce from keto to low carb ( below 50 net) and have found it comfortable and I am loosing. Thanks again!
I love how soft spoken you are and you speak with such respect for everyone listening. I think that you explained everything here so very well, thankyou so very much! ❤
I was strict keto for 4 years with intermittent fasting (16/8) and it kept the weight off. The past year, I’ve been more 30-40 net carbs and NO fasting.. boom gained 20 lbs 😮 I notice if I go off my IF, I gain weight.
I really enjoyed doing keto for a little while. I felt the benefits in my insulin resistance and less hunger just within a few days. Much less crashes, my vision became much clearer, I wasn't hungry, my mood was more balanced. I did start to stall a bit in my weight loss towards the end. Unfortunately I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago and think it caught up with me, I was getting severe constipation on keto (even eating vegetables at every meal and lots of water) and within about a month of doing keto I got awful episode of not being able to digest any food, to the point where I could not eat anything for days and had many symptoms, my dr believes I had mild pancreatitis attack. So now I've been slowly doing a low carb, low fat diet but I'm much more hungry again and some of the crashes and sleepy mood are back, some of eyes issues are back (though not as bad) but I can't digest any fat right now so I have no other option, not even one egg without feeling sick for days. I am doing better digesting my food though with this very low fat and low carb diet incorporating a little bit of rice (like a couple of tablespoons) and eziekiel bread with my egg whites, soft vegetables, lean chicken and turkey. No dairy, almost no fat and no red meat. It's frustrating but I think I will have to stick with this for a while. I'm losing weight again because of the forced fasting and little food I've been consuming. So in conclusion I got sort of forced into low carb instead of keto since I have a lot of insulin resistance I was doing better on keto, my plan initially was to do that for a while until I lose enough weight and slowly transition. I'm going to stick to low carb though and I appreciate this break down. I hope you can do more low fat, low carb recipes for us!
this is one of the best videos I have ever seen explaining low carb vs keto. thank you!! I've been keto for a year and transitioned into low carb a month ago. I was still kind of feeling lost about the dos and don'ts, but you cleared everything up for me! thank you!!
I’m glad you posted this video. I’ve been on keto for five weeks and I lost my period and I’m having bad digestive issues. I think I’m gonna switch to low carb moderate fat. It’s an option in carb manager. How did you lose 100 pounds in six months? What was your net carb limit?
I do low carb and I've been doing it for 2 years and a half years. I've lost 160 pounds! I do have a cheat meal every once in a while like I go eat real ice cream or regular bread just to get the craving out of the way. It is hard but I just get creative with my recipes and ingredients. Plus I make some of your recipes too. Thanks for the info. And I see them retouched highlights! 😉 I started at your bangs thru all the video 😂
Hello, I’m failing on keto 😌I’ve done high protein and low fat and over 100 carbs and succeeded. I think at this point I think I need high protein moderate fats and low carb. I must try this because keto is so strict. I battle with RA so hopefully it will work. Thank you for this video, so encouraging
For me and i was keto… low carb has been working just great! so i’d say low carb is good too! ❤ Any way to rid of breads and processed crap is a good idea imo.
Mayra….I started my weight loss journey in January 2021 and I REALLY watched your videos and followed your advice and recipes to help me understand what keto was all about. I lost 53 lbs ( got down to 128) and thought I didn’t want to lose anymore as I didn’t want to look old/wrinkly. I have kept off the weight ( have fluctuated 3-4 lbs. since November 2021. Your knowledge and experience has REALLY changed my life and I really enjoyed this video about you sharing the difference between keto and low carb. You are a TRUE inspiration to me and I’m certain to many others! Thank you for creating your videos/recipes and for sharing your own experiences and knowledge with all of us!😍🙏
I have been low carb on an off for about 17 years. I was a pro/am dancer as a young girl and burned lots of calories during that time in my life. I could eat anything back then..... I stopped dancing married a chef who was constantly feeding me high carb food (really good I might add) and the lbs just kept coming and coming because I didn't change the way I ate. Atkins came out which kickstarted me on the low carb way of life and with that I lost 90 lbs and kept it off for about 7 years then........ I quit smoking and gained back 60 of those lbs not because I was eating more cause I wasn't but because your metabolism changes so much. I started back with the low carb at the first of this year and have now taken off 30 of those lbs. As Mayra says low carb or keto is a lifestyle. Yes of course you can cheat. I do it all the time but I have much control over what I put in my mouth. I actually prefer lower carb foods as they don't give you that horrible heavy feeling after a meal. Low carb works for me so I feel like one of lucky ones.
I use them both as tools and switch around over the course of the year. Dont get locked into one way of eating. Ive been able to reach my goal weight this way. Keto makes me feel so good mentally and drop weight, but now i will cycle off and enjoy all the lovely summer fruits.🍒🍐🍎🍑 But have keto in my back pocket. I always prioritize protein and either go low fat or low carb.
Really appreciate you taking the time to make this video - so informative! Btw you look amazing and that color shirt is beautiful on you, very warm and compliments your skin so nicely! ❤ Did Keto 2 years ago and lost 40+lbs but I didn’t keep on track, quit and gained it all back plus wayyy more. About to start again this week, refocus and try again!
I've just started my weight loss journey and had no clue where to start. My Dr told me that my glucose numbers were "elevated" and to "watch your carbs" (that was it!), I thought to myself, "why do I have to watch my carbs if my glucose was elevated?" I had no idea where to start, until I found your channel, thank you for breaking it down for us! I love you videos. I have loss 16 lbs already by just making better choices, intermittent fasting and low carb, I read food labels and definitely don't feel restrictive towards any foods. I haven't added exercise into the mix...yet! I am excited to start this journey, I've learned SO MUCH from your channel! The think I struggle with is eating out with family and friends, not sure how to make better choices at restaurants. I would love to know your go-to options when eating out.
Your videos are SO helpful! Thank you for taking the time and explaining. I started on keto and lost a lot but now I shift between keto and low carb and I see the problem now with why im not losing.
Thank you so much. I love you! I have been going back and forth and you are right its sustainability. I have 30 pounds to lose. I have decided on low carbs because I want a lifestyle long term change. Thank you again!
I love this video and all the info you shared. I started Keto, and after 3 months, I couldn't seem to move the scale down. I started doing PSMF, and I'm finally losing. The other thing I noticed is that on High Protein PSMF days, I feel so much better. So much more energy. I really think my body prefers protein and low fat. But doing PSMF gives me the best of both worlds, and this girl loves fat on her keto days, lol
@@lpmama1196I just looked it up and following is what I learned. You can find it at "healthline". Protein Sparing Modified Fast. It was originally designed by physicians who work with morbidly obese patients, to lose weight quickly while maintaining muscle mass, and while taking multi vitamins and other necessary vitamins like potassium and calcium, etc. It has two phases, one is restrictive and one where foods are slowly re-introduced. It was never intended to be used unless under a physician's care because it is so restrictive, causes nutritional deficiencies and can cause harm to your body.
Hey Low Carb Love. I can't tell you how impressed I am with your little talk about the low carb/keto lifestyle. I am retired and watch a lot of videos on nutrition, health, food and cooking. I am diabetic and try to do low carb but I struggle some with low carb. Your insight was spot on without being preachy. Your views coincided with those of some of my favorite influencers, some of whom are like you not MD's or PH.D's. Your comment about sustainability is major. According to stats that I have seen many people who start out doing keto drop out within a few months. That is me. I so admire folks like yourself who have made it work for them over the long haul
Actually, what it all boils down to, is what we’re “willing” to do. I’m to old and too tired of it to be counting macros, carbs, calories etc. It just ain’t natural. LOL I’ve been off sugar for 3 years. Can’t start the cravings back. I do low carb. No starches except rarely a little corn or a little potato in soup. Love your videos. Especially products I don’t experiment with. Going to look for “Skinny Pop” popcorn.
I have many medical conditions (stage 4 liver failure, Parkinson's, Diabetes, neuropathy damage, thrombocytopenia, hepatic encephalopathy, recurring pancreatitis, restless leg syndrome, lymphedema hyper bilirubinemia, chronic cholecystitus, choledocholithiasis, anemic, colitis, gastroenteritis). I found that just cutting out process foods and only eating meat, eggs, vegetables (green) fruit (berries) and water and making an occasional keto friendly low carb love dessert, makes me feel so much better. I exercise by walking 6-8 miles a day, go to the gym for light weight lifting, circulation leg wrap for my lymphedema, 3 times a week for my Parkinson's therapy. I was able to get off meal and nightly insulin shot, I take 1 shot weekly now. I do use a lot of recipes from Low Carb Love. In 8 months I was able to lose 75 pounds and right now for over 2 months, I've been maintaining it. I'm happy with that amount of weight loss and I am happy that I am feeling so much healthier. Depending on your metabolism and health issues, every person will be different on what works for them. For me the goal is to ease some of my health issues so they don't affect my daily routine and to have a little more "pep" in the activities I do.
I'm OMAD for 5 months so far down 65lbs I got my labs done for my regular physical and the numbers could not have been any better. So I will continue on. Never hungry with one meal a day and it's easier to try and keep the carbs at 20grams. I definitely need to in a workout of some kind Thanks for the videos
Thank you so much for your channel Mayra, such a great resource! I was on keto and found it effective for weight loss, and enjoyed the high fat foods. However after discovering my ldl cholesterol has significantly increased to over 6.2 mmol (240mg) whilst on keto, I am switching to low carb, low healthy fats, high protein as well. I also found a problem with the restrictive nature of keto and don't think I could have sustained it long term (even if it had not had the problem with ldl). Incidently my triglycerides and HDL levels were excellent on keto. Im looking forward to adding back a larger variety of fruits and vegetables and the "occassional" piece of sourdough toast with my poached egg under low carb.😂
One of your best videos. I am so glad I watched. I have medical issues that mean I have to cut carbs and a bounce back and forth between the keto recipes and an occasional low carb. It has been going well. My Dr. is impressed. I am learning every day.
I did Keto for almost three years. I only lost 8 lbs and was always tired. I used electrolytes, set my macros and tracked all of foods. Recently i started a low fat with more carbs with a calorie deficit and I've lost 12 lbs already.
I tried keto well for about three years!! Again felt so defeated bc it felt like it was working and sustainable for everyone but me lol. Within the last year, I’ve done low carb/high protein/calorie deficit and I’ve lost 80 pounds. (Water intake could be better) Once a month I eat whatever I want (and man do I pay for it 🤢) but I’ll take one day being sick as opposed to 365 days ☺️ keep it up! 💜
As a type 2 insulin dependent person, low carb/keto for me is measured in total carbs. There is no way I can keep my readings low enough with net carbs. Was on keto for 3 years and lost all the weight I needed to. Then cov hit and I went off for a year...big mistake. Back on keto but having really slow results. I am 73...I feel great on keto.
My weight loss Dr believes no such thing as NET CARBS--A CARB is a CARB. Combines Keto & high fat high protein, veggie, low carb diet, no sugar & starches. Liquid stevita is my go to sweetener, natural, no aftertaste.
That was me I was very restrictive dieting for two years got my A1C down to 5.4 and no inflammation in my body but it was very difficult to maintain. The last 5 months I've gained 13 lbs from binge eating I'm now back on low-carb lifestyle. I'm using a lot of the recipes Myra has created and I'm very thankful for her Channel. I'm doing talk-to-text so I've misspelled anything it's Google's fault😊😅
At one point I was 320lbs got down to 194 after weight loss surgery and maintained it doing low carb for 4 years I had a triple bypass in 2017 and due to inactivity and depression I regained 60lbs. I use keto recipes as a tool to replace the bad things I used to eat but mainly eat low carb I'm at 233lbs now down from 265lbs a year ago. Sorry forgot to put this in my last post.
Hi Mayra! Can you do a little of either each day? I’ve been doing low carb keto for the past week! I track my meals and have been between 22-28 carbs on an average . I had two days of eating a regular carb day but felt crappy
Just to say a big THANK YOU! You explained it really well. I’ve been losing weight for 3 weeks and I’ve watched a ton of videos, and was confused about the difference. Now I know exactly what it is! Also, I’ve lost 10lb so far, and lots of my meals have been from your videos! I have a “get fit” playlist and have loads of your videos saved to it. I can’t wait to try your workout. 🙏
I was dog I was diagnosed with PCOS and Pre-diabetes I also don’t have a Gallbladder and I struggled on keto… I’m going to do Low carb/low-fat and high protein. Thank you for this!
I lost 12 lbs doing strict keto January/February 2023 then switched to Low carb/low fat/high protein and lost 12 pounds in 6 weeks and felt so much better … my energy was off the chain! ❤😊
I’m just starting low carb, want to try to go keto but I do need some bread here and there so I’ll see if I can keep it below 20 net carbs like you explained. I’m happy I found your channel
I am just starting my weight loss to health journey (again) After losing my mom I slipped into a depression. I put on 50 pounds and now I am ready to get it off. I've been subscribed to your channel for probably a year or more, but wasn't ready until now to commit to myself. I have been back and forth how to approach losing the weight and after watching this video, I believe low carb is my answer. I believe it will more sustainable for myself. I hope I have success. I'm excited to begin and that's just part of the battle. :) Thank you for all the information and I look forward to catching up on all the videos I've missed.
Mayra if you did Fitness videos i definitely would watch i love all of the great content you put out your a pleasure to watch and enjoy listening and learning truly a beautiful lovely person
Love your channel-- both the recipes & conversations like this. Over 20 years I've successfully lost weigh many times on a lowfat diet (ouch)...within 2 years gained it back each time, so I definitely relate to "yo-yo" dieting. Gradually that strict lowfat WW/JennyCraig style diet stopped working & found myself frustrated & depressed. Last year I started reading about unhealthy carbs, processed foods, and unhealthy fats & I started a clean low-carb diet, lost about 15 lbs before hitting a plateau, then I transitioned to a Keto-biotic diet (max 50g healthy carbs per day) and have so far lost an additional 20 lbs. I have another 30 lbs to go & struggle with finding the right formula. I find that if I get too set in a specific routine with diet and my fasting schedule, I inevitably hit a plateau & it seems like my body just reaches for a set point, so I have to alter course often to keep losing weight. But it's worth it. I feel like this lifestyle has changed my life, made me feel 20 years younger -- no more inflammation & arthritis, no more digestive issues. I generally find it quite easy to follow the diet itself, as it works with my lifestyle, but I do worry about how I will maintain it when I travel (which I haven't done since I switched into Keto). I'm planning a cruise in the fall and although I think I can easily avoid bread, rice, pasta & potatoes, I'm a little worried about how I will resist all those lovely desserts ;-). If you have any tips about breaking plateaus or about maintaining a healthy lifestyle while traveling, I'd love to hear them. Thank you!
I'm a new viewer, the music in the background was a little distracting. I did subscribe because I just saw your 2 grocery store videos. Thank you for your channel. ❤❤❤
I tried Keto, loved it and how I felt. Then after about 3 months, I developed the keto rash. Didn't really know it was cause of the keto diet. Did not go away for weeks. It only cleared up when I was trying to figure out on my own wtf was wrong, and I stumbled across an article that gave me a lightbulb moment. Had some regular bread still in the house because of my husband, and within a few hours, the itchy portion of the rash was gone. Within a few days of eating carbs again, the rash was GONE. After WEEKS of struggling and it not getting better. Tried going Keto again, got the rash again, but it took probably 2 weeks instead of the months it took the first time. Ate some carbs, it went away. Tried doing Keto a 3rd time, and the rash came back within a week. I've just given up with the Keto diet, my body is clearly telling me "no".
I really agree with your tips on listening to how your body feels as you go on a journey. Listening to my body has helped me realize the macro balance that makes me feel the best. Even if that means eating maybe 20 carbs more per day in the cold winter months than my lower carb days in the summertime. I don't know exactly why my body trends this way but I listen and it has worked for me to feel my best.
I lost 35 pounds the first year doing low carb with 2 cheat days a week. Then I upgraded it to keto no cheat days and lost 35 pounds in 5 months. Now I’m doing keto with 3 loosely PSMF based days a week and 1 cheat day a month and I’ve been losing 5 pounds a month. I’ve still got about 25-35 pounds I’d like to lose but once I get there I’ve always planned on going back to low carb with less cheat days than before. I am already no longer diabetic and my cholesterol and vitamins are good. I think it makes it easier if you start with low carb first but if you need that glory and praise from others about your weight loss to keep you motivated then go straight keto. Nobody noticed my first 35 pounds because it was gradual. I could tell but nobody said anything.
I've been eating Keto/Carnivore for 6 weeks. Lost some weight, feeling better, but I'm tired of so much meat and excess fat, makes me feel bogged-down. I needed to add some veggies and low-carb fruit, etc to my diet. Love your videos, thank you for all your help.
I have been keto for about 4 years now. I’ve lost 80 lbs but I still have more to go. I’d like to lose an additional 30-40. I’m thinking I need to switch gears from a higher fat diet to a lower fat one like you did to see if I get better results :-/
I have been doing low carb for about a year and have lost 20+ lbs in a very healthy and steady way plus I am no longer plagued with migraines from my blood sugar spiking. I love eating this way. thank you for all your helpful content ❤
I was doing keto, but it turns out my body is sensitive to ketones and I experienced keto rash. These rashes really bothered me, so I switched to a low-carb diet. We'll see if it improves.
Myra thanks for explaining this, I had no idea. I'm about to have weight loss surgery and a high protein/low carb diet is emphasized. I'd love to hear from you and any bariatric patients here who are doing keto. I feel I lack the discipline to implement the diet alone without surgery. Is keto recommended for weight loss patients? Any advice is welcome.
Thanks so much for sharing this a bit better. A year ago I struggled I loved watching you in a lot of TH-camrs that are on the same wave of keto low carb, but I am dealing with MS, which came with a lot of inflammation, water retention, and high blood pressure. So the standard keto didn't work for me, so I've had to pull those way down to almost a carnivore, with just a little veg, very little, no other sugar, or starchy carbohydrates. This is real important for people to know and they won't get discouraged, that it will take time to reverse autoimmune symptoms, but you can get there, you do got to cut that carb count weigh down, probably less than 10 a day..
Since July 23rd until now I’ve lost 9lbs. I brought my AC1 levels back to normal. Still though Doc wants me to lose more and get down to my ideal weight. I exercise as best as I can considering the disability I have. But I’m sticking to it though. Thanks for all the info and the website with desserts.
What’s your currently lifestyle? Are you low carb? Keto? Just eat healthy? I would love to know in comments below!!
I'm so excited for your exercise plan
I'm currently trying to do Ketovore. Have you ever tried Carnivore Myra and could you do a video on what it was like if you did or why you didn't try Carnivore?
Trim healthy mama plan works best for me
Around 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat. No junk food. And drinking LMNT every day for electrolytes-it's delicious.
I thought I was Keto by shooting for less than 50 carbs a day
but now I think that its actually just “ low carb “
Good going on the success thus far.
That’s awesome- great job
Amazing!!!!! Thank you for sharing.
I also was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and used keto to get it controlled. Good luck and I’m so happy for you.
I find keto super hard, and expensive in my opinion. I like the low carb life for weight loss. Seems more balanced.
I am so grateful for the content you provide. I have been following you since September of 2021. I decided to loose weight as a birthday gift to myself. I have lost 70 pounds and counting with your help from the videos. I cannot thank you enough!!
Great job love! ❤️
Congrats!!! I started atkins on oct. 25, 2020 and lost 131lbs and have been maintaining for the last year! I got labs before I started, then every 6mths up till now. Im about to go after a year. Awesome job!!!!
Congratulations-
Omg 😭 This is amazing!!! Congratulations, girlie 👏🎉❤
What snacks are you eating?
Do you alternate days between keto and low-carb, or do you do a few days of each consistently? Would love to know your plan!

Hiiiiiii! How did you find your macros or what did you do that you knew you were doing it right?
Thanks👍
I love to hear this! You go girl 👏 we all have to do what works best for us❤️
Would you walk us through a day of eating on low carb? The meals you eat and what the snacks are, if you snack, and then compare it to what you would eat on KETO. I JUST NEED MORE INFO.
Please do another video on this. Thanks.
This is a great idea
You need to try both ways of eating for yourself. You may not be able to sustain either diet. Her videos won’t help you if you can’t sustain .
More ideas would be a huge help@@littlepixel1650
Under 20 gr is not low carb. It's full keto.
20 GR carbs is not low carb
You got this! Just take it one day at a time.
Great explanation, it all can get confusing everyone does it different
I needed this! I did keto, then low carb, but couldnt keep up. Got tired. I really want to get back on track. Thank u for this. Needed this push❤❤
I absolutely love your channel. Keto has worked for me and I love the variety you show on your channel. Thank you so much!❤️
I don’t do keto to lose weight. I do not want to lose but I have a neurological illness and ketosis helps me so much! It’s tough to find a balance between being in ketosis and not losing too much. I can’t eat enough to not lose. So I carb cycle on the weekends to find a balance.
I thought about carb cycling!
This 'chat' has been very helpful - Now I know which I prefer to follow too. Thanks for the info :)
The past year, I’ve been more 30-40 net carbs and NO fasting.. boom gained 20 lbs 😮
I notice if I go off my IF, I gain weight.
Same! IF is definitely a must for losing weight
It’s actually CALORIES ! Calories! With keto , it’s still CALORIC RESTRICTION.
I was still kind of feeling lost about the dos and don'ts, but you cleared everything up for me! thank you!!
I’m glad I can help! 😊
A cheat meal doesn’t hurt here or there. Not you staring at my bangs. Lol
Thank you for creating your videos/recipes and for sharing your own experiences and knowledge with all of us!😍🙏
Aw love thank you so much! Your message means a lot to me. Im glad I was able to inspire you 🩷
This is so helpful. Thank you for the clarity! Love this video!
Glad I can help.
Did Keto 2 years ago and lost 40+lbs but I didn’t keep on track, quit and gained it all back plus wayyy more.
I’m here to help ❤
PSMF?
@@lpmama1196 Protein Sparing Modified fasting
@@lpmama1196I just looked it up and following is what I learned. You can find it at "healthline".
Protein Sparing Modified Fast. It was originally designed by physicians who work with morbidly obese patients, to lose weight quickly while maintaining muscle mass, and while taking multi vitamins and other necessary vitamins like potassium and calcium, etc. It has two phases, one is restrictive and one where foods are slowly re-introduced. It was never intended to be used unless under a physician's care because it is so restrictive, causes nutritional deficiencies and can cause harm to your body.
very helpful video. thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Very informative, thank you for explaining 😊
I appreciate this video because both diets are so similar that they normally seem the same
Actually, what it all boils down to, is what we’re “willing” to do.
*Understanding the nuances helps tailor my eating habits to suit my lifestyle. Thanks for sharing!*
great informative vids, I hit Keto really hard through 2023 and lost 150lbs, now doing low carb to try and maintain my weight and so far so good
Thank you for your videos. Your chanel has been great for me. I’ve lost 41 pounds in 5 months just doing low carb and I thank you
I have many medical conditions (stage 4 liver failure, Parkinson's, Diabetes, neuropathy damage, thrombocytopenia, hepatic encephalopathy, recurring pancreatitis, restless leg syndrome, lymphedema hyper bilirubinemia, chronic cholecystitus, choledocholithiasis, anemic, colitis, gastroenteritis).
That’s great. Maybe a walk for 35 minutes? I love talking evening walks.
Please Ma’am Did you workout at all?
What do you ask for when you get your haircut ! I love it
Thank you for the information. This is extremely helpful. 😊
Congrats!!
@@moskibabyyyI’m going to try this it seems more in my rule book
I agree the label is what gets in my head. That’s why I love your concept of low carb/healthy carbs. 👍🏼💖
Thank you for this video! I am going to start ketones and have been looking into keto and low carb.
I am definitely a stacker! I follow low carb. I love the contents of your video. Thanks for all you do❤.
Great Conversation So glad you Break it down so successfully
Thank you !! I Both lite Keto and Low carbs, work for me 😉😘
Just to say a big THANK YOU! 🙏
So happy I found your channel since I am diagnosed as prediabetic I am learning so much with you
I'm so glad! I’m here if you need me ❤️
I was dog I was diagnosed with PCOS and Pre-diabetes I also don’t have a Gallbladder and I struggled on keto… I’m going to do Low carb/low-fat and high protein.
Thank you! I will definitely start filming my fitness videos.
That will be super thanks for the love and reply sweet friend
Thankyou this was really helpful for me I am trying the low carb diet only on week 2 but staying strong 🙏🏻
Thank you for explaining the difference.
This resonates with me so much. I didn't enjoy keto long term now it so happens that I am low carb almost low fat too.
Love your videos and tips! You are very helpful. Love your daughters videos too! 🤎🤎
I have been keto for about 4 years now. I’ve lost 80 lbs but I still have more to go. I’d like to lose an additional 30-40. I’m thinking I need to switch gears from a higher fat diet to a lower fat one like you did to see if I get better results :-/
Very helpful video. Thanks Mayra!
This is so helpful. Thank you, Myra!
🧡
Btw, is there a meal plan that I can follow, it would make things a bit easier for me.
