Thank you so much! I was so rusty! And my PC is so old, but I’m going to upgrade it soon and I can’t believe there’s someone with such a recent video, showing exactly what I needed. Thanks a lot!
i bought a pc with a hp elitedesk mb in it the 6500 i5 . i then upgraded it to the i7 6700 and 16gb ddr4 2133 ram , also gtx 1070 gpu , its such a good build
i gotta be extreamly carefull not to drop it , i did drop my i7 6700 in my kitchen, my mrs wrapped it in the paper reciept, luckily for me no damage done, also which do u prefare install wise/uninstall wise , ie easy to upgrade, me i prefare intel . amd tend to stick to the cpu fan and can slip out ov the cpu holder
there can some cross checking chipset version numbers for certain CPU's compatibility. (Kinda a BIG rabbit Hole to go down, though). I found the crosschecking pretty confusing!
I had no problems running the stock fan with the 6700 for months as my info display computer before retiring it from service. I do recommend re-pasting the CPU after upgrading. Also make sure your BIOS is up to date before proceeding to upgrade to the 6700. Thanks for watching! :-)
Generally, OEM computer brands like Dell, HP, etc. don't allow users to upgrade to overclocked SKUs of Intel CPUs on office machines. The "K" in the i7 6700K indicates that the processor is overclockable. I will say that the performance difference between the 6700 and 6700K is small. To me, it makes more sense to go with the 6700 Non-K. They are generally cheaper on the used market than the 6700K.
I want to upgrade my i5 6400 to an i7 6700 so badly 😂 that i5 sucks ass stuttering frame drops it's crazy I just upgraded to a rtx2080 super and a saw a great deal on a i7 6700 thinking of pulling the trigger on the deal
It's not a bad processor. If you can get it for cheap used it would make a good combo. I am using my 6700 currently for my information setup in the corner of my two main setups in my bedroom. It runs everything really smoothly.
Great video! My RX480 died so I bought a rx5700 secondhand. Would you recommend the upgrade from I5-6500 to I7-6700 to match? I can get one around $60.
Thanks!! Yeah I would go for the 6700 for that price. That’s a good price for one. You get hyper threading on the 6700 which will make a better difference in performance compared to the 6500. Happy Computing!
Hey nate, i bought a lenovo m700 tiny, it comes with a core i5 6500t which is a low watt core (35w i believe) i want to upgrade to a core i7 6700 but they are a 95w core and wont be compatible, my question is if i use the 95w power supply instead of the 35w power supply will that work?
I'm not 100% sure but I think you will be fine with the 95 watt power brick. The i7 6700 consumes a max tdp of 65 watts. But this processor will almost never hit that kind of power draw unless you are running a synthetic CPU stress tester like Prime95.
I'd be very wary of that upgrade. It may work but I really doubt you'll be able to cool the chip and you'll end up with a slower overheating computer Alternatively you can go for the 6700T which has the same 35W TDP. Now that's an upgrade. No need for a bigger power supply and you'll still be able to cool it
Yeah so hey my mother board died recently and i would like your help to find a new one for cheap because i can’t find one under 100$ i have i7 6700 and ddr4
It would be really hard to find one that isn't used. But here's one in excellent condition for $60 on eBay www.ebay.com/itm/325567055143?hash=item4bcd4f0527:g:7NIAAOSwkCNkCT4p&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAAwKGsOamww5RwwU%2F48qTdTAYtM3Ll1uD0TtINnHjlvoewur2EDC1tH9Uvph%2BAtvXftREFWgAGv63RCfUw2pTxVcCAy2uhrvjHnRZWvS2ipgeWqL2LnxSWSn2s15jzRaCPZlSVX4mdl0qmqsvfJExT7Onnca83cSTR%2B7RJ6fbE3UQ9LosmVjZy%2Fjjlez%2BzdRcw9g6C1Ovohp3kLtkXY6pC5bkGdiZhKuQm2QJ6wJ8JCPq4211vjm3Cyj%2BtH2zDFXVCdA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR4LPzcjCYg
can someone help me ? i have a hp 280 g2 microtower with a Pentium 4400g I bought a i7 6700 tried installing it but it didn't work and I don't know why (in the hp website it says the the hp 280 g2 supports the i7 6700 - ) I don't know why the i7 6700 is not working on my motherboard , my power supply is 180 w (dunno if it is a problem ) please help me
Perhaps doing a bios update with the old cpu could maybe fix it. I’ve ran into a similar problem with a dell optiplex a couple years ago. Turns out I needed to update the bios before installing a better CPU.
Yes you can put a 7th gen i7 into a 6th gen motherboard as long as the bios is updated to allow 7th gen processors. Cooling wise as long as you don’t overclock your cpu the stock cooler should be ok.
Surprised I've noticed how more responsive my PC is from switching to a 6400 to the 6700, even basic tasks, and of course, gaming.
Did you need a new fan for that?

Thermal paste is not electrically conductive. It will still make an absolute mess. 😅

Is it possible to upgrade from an i7 6700 to an i7 6700K on a Dell Precision?

I have an rx570 with i3 6100...thinking of getting a i7 6700...would it be a good decision?

@@NatesZone Got it...Thanks for replying
I see you use the i7 with 3200mhz rams. But on intel’s website, the limit for i7 6700 is 2133mhz frequency for ram. 3200mhz won’t hurt your build?
Nope wont hurt anything. It will still work fine. Any intel CPU I've owned I can get away with faster ram than what intel's website recommends.
@@NatesZone thanks for the very fast reply. One more question please if you allow: did you had XMP on or off?
@@ClnlSozer Yes I always have XMP on if the bios allows. Otherwise you would be leaving performance on the table.
@@NatesZone thank you so so much!!!
I’m thinking of going from i5 6500 to i7 6700.
did you? i want to aswell
@@dawsonmiller9782I did it was worth it but I had the i5 6600 instead
Depending on how Hell Diver 2 runs I might finally upgrade.
