    Glad to see a proper explanation when doing a CPU upgrade. I've seen so many that overlook the motherboard sockets. Specially since Intel did what they did with LGA1151. Just as AMD AM4 socket depending on generation only supports certain gen Ryzen CPUs as well.

      If you have an LGA 1150, does that mean all CPU'S that fits in the 1150 will work?

    • @acidstorm001
      @acidstorm001 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@NathanielSolomons Depends on the board and the BIOS. Sometimes support for CPUs needs a BIOS update, but should fit most other LGA 1150 processors. Just have to check the motherboard specs to see which CPUs are supported.

    I have a Dell G5. Thanks to your video I was able to determine the best CPU to buy for my specific motherboard. I currently have a i5-10400F and wanted to upgrade to some sort of i9. I used the command prompt as instructed, used the number to google it and I can only upgrade to 1 type of i9 which for someone like myself that isn't overly tech-savvy I am not overly picky as long as it gets the job done for a few years to come so It ended being a i9-10900KF. It's reasonably cheap at over $500 with taxes. Looks like I made my decision thanks again to your video

    #6%club...thanks for a great video. Knew how to buy the CPU but was a bit leery about changing it out. You made it really easy and I am less nervous know. Shouldn't be nervous since I built my computer a while ago, but was-lol. The antistatic wrist wrap bit was hilarious, lol I think I still have mine somewhere with extra cables and fans in a box somewhere. Waiting for my graphics card to come in (old one just up and died, think a power surge got it) then will change the CPU and GTX out at the same time. Thanks again for a great video, nice and clear info is much appreciated.

    Thank you so much! I couldn't find a video that shows removal of a CPU cooling fan from a CPU, and I'd never even worked with thermal paste until I built my own PC a few months ago. I've decided that the cooling fan I have isn't enough for my future needs, but wasn't sure, "Er, how do I remove the cooling fan without damaging the CPU?" I went looking for a "upgrade CPU cooling fan" but the closest I found was an AMD based video. That one's probably good enough, but I figured, "I just want to learn to do this right, the first time." Anyway, thanks for showing me that the thermal paste doesn't act as some sort of weird superglue or whatever! I just really wasn't sure.

    So, this was quite a few years ago that I got an Omen pc. At the time we were going to build a pc from scratch, (my brother was, he knows more about this than I do but has since moved), and we had ordered all of the parts, only to find out that the order was canceled over the weekend because of a credit card error. So we set about re ordering everything only to find out that the graphics cards had gone up to $350, where as they had just been $150, I think. So we shopped around and got an Omen, as it was going to be cheaper than building at that point. Anyway, I'm very late to the game now, but seeing as the issues with computer chips, graphics cards are going to continue on for the foreseeable future, I thought I better figure out what my pc needs/and can use, get it and upgrade what I can now, to save some time/money down the road. I've mostly used it for things like GW2, lol, the Witcher 3 and so on, and haven't had any issues yet, but I figure it can't hurt to learn these things myself. Although I don't think I need to upgrade the cpu, I think I could upgrade the ram (it has 2 slots for it).

    #6%Club. LOL! Good video. We’re about to upgrade a gaming system to an i9. It’s been a while since I tackled a CPU upgrade, so your video has reduced the anxiety quite a bit. Thanks!

    Man I've been wanting to upgrade my CPU for the longest but it's so damn expensive just for the CPU but I would also have to get a good new board and another batch of RAM since the previous would be useless and probably be more worth it just to get a new pc :'C great video though very well put and informative

    I regret getting the i5-12400 instead of the i7-12700, as its all being paired with a 6800XT. Upgrading at the end of the month for my birthday gift to myself 🎉

    It is kind of annoying when buying processors and motherboards is becoming more complex.
    plus more problem arise when the processor and motherboard manufacturer says different things but at same time saying they are compatible with each other.
    sigh.
    Why did we get this kind of complex relationship.
    thanks for the video though.
