Dude you have no idea how much this helped me, I went through my first labyrinth alliance raid 😅 and my screen exploded with extra boxes and pop ups to the point I could barely see the screen 🙃. As if my first time wasn't nerve wracking enough 😂 im just glad I had some really nice team mates helping me out
lol I bet that was jarring to say the least. I love the customizability but they don't do a good job at explaining things in game. Glad I could help though!
@@MicaDoesStuff re ran it last night and It was so much smoother 😂, tbh learning this much about the UI and HUD has got me wondering how many other mechanics just aren't explained fully in the game ive missed out on 🤔
@@Chappie114 I am actually compiling a list for a future videos. Every time I catch myself doing something in the game that isn't explained well I write it down. I have a lot of time before endwalkers to get things out, so I will be working my way down the list.
Mica, mate, these are banger suggestions! I too like a nice clean UI in which to view as much as the environment as possible, so the macro tutorial to toggle UI elements is awesome. You also have a very easy speaking voice, with clear instructions and zero unnecessary information, which is very much appreciated as there's nothing worse than starting a tutorial video and 10 minutes into it they've covered the same topic 8 different ways. I'm a 4 week sprout as of this writing so I'm now off to configure my UI thanks to you. Cheers mate!

I'm the one with the son who enticed me to play. He set up my HUD to match his, and it's mostly great, but there were a couple of things that just didn't quite work for me. Finding your video has been eye-opening. You've given such clear and succinct direction, it's been a breeze to follow. I'll probably change a few things here and there as I get more comfortable in game, but for now, it's just right. Thank you so much.
Just got back into this game after over two years and having a blast again. But one think I remember not enjoying was how cumbersome it was to change the UI. This video was very useful and I am now very happy with the layout I now have. I also will likely make use of the macros soon when I start to realize what I do or do not need depending on what I'm doing. Thanks!
Thanks for this explanation, taught me a few Tricks I didn't know about. I would add though, that "Duty" in your HUD Settings should be configured eventually. I once accidentily ended up with my Duty Bar and Duty Action Buttons in the most random Positions because I forgot about them when rearranging since they're not shown in Basic. It's not used often, but in some Situations you'll likely want those in an easy to see/reach position
This is amazing, You're a life saver!! I definitely want a HUD for just questing and regular shit and one for tanking, and when I'm in dungeons or raids. I had done a little re-arranging, but Jesus fuck, dude. This is awesome. So many things I didn't know how to tweak. Straight to the point and no bullshit. Loving your vids

One thing you can do (i don't know if you mentioned it, i just started watching) is for the hotbars on the right side of your screen, make a macro that toggles them and put that macro on one of those hotbars with a keybind. That makes it so you don't have to have it taking up screen space when you don't need it, that's what I do Edit: yeah, you mentioned it nvm

Started playing ffxiv a bit more in the past couple days, some tips here are gonna help for sure! I really like your thought on having the party frames on the right side. I'm gonna try that in games going forward and see how it works, it seems very logical. I was playing WoW but hitting end game of Shadowlands left a fairly "meh" expression on my face. And I'm not enjoying the pointless systems. So trying out ffxiv for a month, see where I get!
great video! i do have a question tho: how did you hide free company tags displaying on top of players' head? there seems to be no option to hide it yet your walkthroughs have such a clean setup (just initials).

This was soooo extremely helpful, I can't thank you enough. I love having a clean UI, it makes my gameplay so much better lol. However I do have a question, I noticed that you were able to hide your XP bar, but I can't seem to get mine to hide. As well as my aetherflow gauge & parameter bar. I wanted to make a macro that hides most things for when I'm running around big cities so I can enjoy the scenery. :')
The exp bar is an outlier because you need to put it in quotations. So the command is /hud "experience bar" and as for the job gauges there is no macro command that I am aware of that will hide them. They seem to think they are too important to hide. You can however switch them to simple mode so they take up less room by using the command /jobhudmode this should at least shrink them down enough to get them mostly out of the way

If you really wanna immerse yourself, click scroll lock to hide all hud elements, nameplates, etc. then click home on your kb to go into first person. Talk about full immersion. It really changes the world and its my preferred way to play when I am in a city or any sanctuary.

"Open All" is not an option for my inventory settings, but hell, even Expanded is better than what I had.
For your inventory or your retainers? I know for retainers its not an option but I thought for normal inventory it was the same for all platforms.
