When I played this game as the Empire, I basically won, but had such a hard time finding the Rebel Base to end the game, so I sent the Death Star to destroy every planet in the outer rim until I found the one with the base.
Canon strategy, really.
Played the Tarkin maneuver
i used the vader maneuver. i built 100 probe droids and then blockaded any rebel world
Yeah, the rebels would immediately move their base every time you found it. The only way to destroy it was to do what you said.

Finnaly,a scene where the Imperials win.
I would always play for a total victory: 100% planet ownership, rebel character roster either showing all killed or captured (need to create a prison ship that is always in hyperspace, that way no leaders get the random escape event), then Death Star obliterate the rebel HQ.

They can actually still escape in the short amount of time when they arrive at their destination.
If the "escape event" triggers while the ship is in hyperspace, they just automatically escape when it reaches it's destination. A better strategy is to put them all on a planet with a bunch of troops/fighters/ships with a high Detect value, and a General. (So, probably Coruscant.)
Happy ending
The terrorist leaders are imprisoned, awaiting trial. What little "military" forces they could muster has been chased beyond the galactic rim. Peace and order have been restored to the galaxy. All is as it should be.
The entire galaxy rejoices and congratulates the Empire and its valiant sons on their victory over the forces of evil and darkness. Best ending with no doubts.

The Rebel Alliance Base is on Bespin? That's a bit wacky, 'cause it would be very easy to blow up with all that Tibanna gas...

It's just a floating city. Kind of like Bespin but not.
The Rebel HQ moves around in the game
If you ask me I think the Super Star Destroyer should've been there to destroy Home One would've been better.

I love this alternate ending. The only thing that makes me sad is seeing R2D2 and C3PO having to escape from the ship that is about to burst :C

Looks like the Rebels managed to take out the Executor despite losing badly. Good for them.
I take Thrawn off ship research once Empire has Imperial-2, send him to next idle Advanced shipyards, load it with TIE Defenders and go win.

Considering what happens after the Rebellion defeats the Empire in legends, this is truly the correct ending. (For those who don't know, just search Yuuzhan Vong)

Game was amazing ... I remember first time sending Boba fet too assassinate luke skywalker and always failing and one time it worked and one of my recon droids found them and I sent Death Star to blow up planet and got lucky ... But can't tell you how enraged use to get building a Death Star and 2 min later a small rebel fleet would destroy it ... Wanted to stab a cat...

+Mark Basnight I almost never played the Rebellion, but I did once, and I made sure I got all the "heroes" butchered in costly wasteful battles one by one against the Galactic Empire. I laughed as the Rebel's hopes of getting their Royalist Destiny Spouting Fanny Pack Back crashed and burned and died horribly all around me. It was then that I defected back to the Empire and kicked Rebel Scum all over the Galaxy again without so much as a single Imperial casualty. I colonized every world and increased popular support for the Empire to 100% for every single world in every single sector across the Huge Galaxy. It was at that moment that I laughed and laughed as I had effectively crushed this Rebellion...Twice!

When I saw the wrecked Super Star Destroyer, I was thinking "what"? Still think it's weird for a wrecked Super Star Destroyer to be the Imperial ending.

The last time I used 2 Nebulon-B, one Corellian Corvette, and Home-One in EAW. I won. Destroyed 6 ISD. Feeling so good.
Swarms of starfighters of all classes helps too.

And Imperial Star Destroyer vs. a MC80 Home One Class, that is a losing battle for the Imperial class, just sayin'
LordZirk In most cases, this would be true if both ships were alone. However, the first Star Destroyer destroyed the rebel fleet's support ships and quickly jumped in 2 more star destroyers that probably had a full complement of fighters/bombers and while Home One is impressive, it would be almost impossible for it alone with no fighters to take out the 3 star destroyers that are bearing down on it from multiple sides and swarming it with fighters. In that scenario, the Home One was outnumbered and outgunned by the 3 star destroyers.
