RC Quick Tips: Changing the Runcam V2 settings (metering, G sensor etc)

- In this quick video we look at how you can access all of the settings on the RunCam V2 camera. Sadly not all of the settings you would want are available at time of recording in the WiFi applications on IOS and Android.

+WorksopGimp As good as the V1 is, the 1080p60 ability makes the V2 the cam to have. Enjoy! I'm sure you'll like it ;)

I just got a runcam 2 4k now that I'm getting into wings from quads and wouldn't you know it? Your 5 year-old video answered my question of image stabilization on this thing. Thank you for the videos! I 100% would not have been able to pick this up as my pandemic hobby last April if not for those in the youtube community like Joshua Bardwell and yourself!
Useful vid, cheers. I spoke to Runcam last year regarding image settings and options in the app. They assured me that they're in development and will be added in the future. I also asked about the lowish bitrate and they said higher bitrates are coming, they're on with testing and suggested keeping an eye out in future FW releases.
Overall I'm really pleased with mine. My only gripe is how the exposure works. For our use there's too much emphasys on the sky so the ground gets under-exposed is poor lighting conditions when the sky is in shot. I suggested having optional exposure limits to avoid this happening.
Runcam, as a company, respond really well to feedback. So guys, please contact them with improvements/suggestions.
We've done the same, had the same reply. Let's hope the firmware and apps start to show these needed improvements and make a great camera even better for FPV..
just an add on to your nice video: if possible always upgrade from fw 1,2 to 1,3. The reason is that on 1,2 the TV OUT MUST be selected or deselected manually by pressing the Power button. On fw 1.3 you simply don't have to do anything. It works "right out of the box". I've learned it the hard way.... ciao.

Do you recommend having the IS turned on or off when the camera is mounted to a fixed wing aircraft?
It depends on the craft. I'd try with and without and look at which one provides the nicest video. Happy flying!
Is there any way to change the output format IE.. . AVI or .Mov
Two questions: The manual lists a 1440p30fps option, does it actually have that or is it a down the line firmware option? The wide angle on/off option, what will that do? Thanks
+Aaron Blake Also interested in teh angle comparisons. Can this be used for a normal hatcam and for ultra wide front of quad stuff as I see most people using it. I hate go pros so much for hatcams as everything seems so far away but my mobius rocks as a hatcam. It's just beaten up and old, has externel lipo and in need or replacement. It's a shame all parameters are not accessible form the wifi app, that does seem a real downer if angle is only available from there. Not a sale stopper but not positive, there must be a reason wifi app is limited.

It seems odd that the aspect ratio stays the same with wide or not wide but looks great in both. Looking forward to a mobius upgrade very much.
is there anyway to access that menu with out a monitor?
How come I can't set my resolution to 1080p 60fps? 1080p 30fps is the highest I can set it. I tried setting it using the app and also connecting it to TV. I'm I using the wrong sd card? I'm using Sandisk ultra mirco SDXC class 10. Runcam firmwear is 2.2.
Hello, have you found any way to turn off the spot metering. its annoying, i'd rather it not be on at all

i have version 2 firmware, there is no option to turn it off there. i have written the runcam company in hopes for some way to turn it off. thanks for your time

Painless360 heythanks so much!! that would be awesome. i think if you can turn it off on gopro you should be able to turn it off on runcam. it really hurts video creation when you've turned off auto white balance to stop that from happening. thanks again for the help

Is there a way to get it to record directly mp4 and not mov, because mov is so much lager files than mp4
I'd look at the latest firmware. We tend to clean out the SD cards after a days flying so it's not something I bump into. Best of luck!
Is there a way to set the Run Cam V2 to burst mode when flying drones?
Not sure what you mean. Take a lot of still images? Not sure you can do that with the stock firmware..
That's a shame.. I know you can use burst mode when connected to a phone via Wifi but you can't fly a drone and get it to take continuous photos from what I gather..
Does the app allow you to start and stop rec.?

Hi, I just got the run cam v 2, I do like the run cam, but,,, I have a 550 quad that I fly fpv, it has the naza mv 2 controler and GPS. I fly FPV, I got the run can to just take videos, wale I am flying, I put the run cam on my 550 quad and the WI FI is turned off, just video only It made my drone go crazy and crash,, I could not control it,it was just 2 feet off the ground ,I been useing the GO PRO camera and it works fine but it is so big, so i got the run cam, Does the run can put out a single wale it is in record mode, hope you can help me on this , I would like to use the run cam , but not tel I can find out if i can use it, ok, thank you, pleas help me on this,
I've never seen that. We use them on a lot of different models here without a problem. Are you sure it was the camera? Best of luck!
yes, I , I, have been flying my 550 over 6 mo, never had any problems, and i fly fpv with it all so, I had the run cam up front on the fram, soon as i the 550 left the groun it was not flying like it should, I gave some more throtel to go up to 5 ft, and it stell did not fly right, it was getting hard to control, so I bring it down to 2 ft from to the ground, and it did the nose dive to the left and broke, a prop, and a arm, , I replaced the arm, and prop and flew it agian ,, with out the run cam, it flew fine, gps hold was good all so,I put the run can back on my 550 and it tryed to do it some more,,,so I remived the run cam and the 550 flew fine ,,,could ,,the run cam be puting out a signel from its WI FI ??. I did ck the camera,, and it says the WI FI is off, so I am scared to use it, the run cam is 8 inches from my GPS ant, could I have got a bad cam,?? wale the run cam is on , it does get verry worm, close to hot,, I think it is a bad camera, and I just got it, and used it one time ,hope you can help me, thank you, II, was useing the GOPO flew fine, I like the size of the run cam,, that is way I bought it,, I was going to put it on my walkera advance 250 drone with GPS and fly fpv, and use the run cam to take videos,, I well not use it at all , I do not wont to crash any of my drones,

I still confused about metering mode
Metering mode is just how the camera handle is the exposure. The different settings take more all less of the image into account. Happy flying
Its a great shame that you cannot turn off the time/date function via the cable connection. Hopefully this will be corrected in the next firmware update so that users without apple or android apps can get rid of the annoying time and date! Thanks 15.14 03/02/16
PERSONAL HAD A BAD TIME WITH MY RUN CAM TWO WIFI FPV DONT WORK AND THE BATTERYS DIE AND YOU HAVE TO USE IT INTO YOUR RECIVER IF THE CABLE LONG ENOTH TO MUCH FAFING AROUND

+Paul Woods Sounds like the ESCs maybe in programming mode. Is the throttle at the high position. Sorry, I'm not familiar with that model..
