Nice review Andrew. I've been using mine since January and have been happy with it except for the sound. Usually I drop the sound off from the flight video so it's OK. You can make a cheap and easy lense cap with a regular water bottle cap. Just trim away the outer rim to the outside of the inner lip. Perfect press on fit on the lense. Make a few since I tend to misplace mine when flying.
About a month ago I bought the new Mobius 2 which has 1080p@60 fps but sadly the GUI has very little in the way of adjustments. It's coming apparently, and so is Christmas. It will sit on my shelf until I can implement some changes to the settings. n the meantime I may have to invest in the Runcam 2 which I should have done before. I still have my old Mobius 1 which has been through the wars, and still works. Love the features of the new Runcam 2.
Very nice review Andrew :) I really love mine, i just wish it was a little bit more wider, just a bit! I feel like it is more suitable for a plane than a quadcopter :) Be aware some people reported some issue while flying FPV, recording and powering up the camera at the same time... My only complaint is the "Achilles Heel" usb out. My port was destroyed after just a couple of tumbles. It only took one impact to the usb cord to lift the port off the board and render the camera dead. :( other than this she was a beautiful performer. I'm going to get another and simply not use the live out.
Hi Andrew, apologies for a question on an old video ... You mention in the video that the camera can be powered from the balance connector on lipo. It would need an adapter or some sort presumably?

thanks for the nice review, think i might get one. I have noticed the 'blues' on my mobius looking a bit unnatural, and the 60fps is what I really want. Going to find out about latency on FPV, but im sure it will be ok for my flying. Then I dont have to use a board cam as well.
Great review, I've had the original RunCamHD since they came out and it's been a great camera, love it.. if and when I need another it might be a toss up between RunCam2 or the Hawkeye Firefly Q6... maybe Gearbest or Banggood will be kind enough to send you one of those so I can make an informed decision :)

Such as take a still shot while in the air or am I stuck with continuous recording while in the air? If possible is there an action camera you can recommend that is capable of this option if the runcam 2 isn’t?
Wifi only reaches a few meters. PWM control works with some action cams so you can set a switch on your transmitter. Cant recall which ones just now but I would have demonstrated it in my reviews th-cam.com/play/PLC8MdCMvxwBg_ehUxf15mkpLyKV38UBPe.html
The RunCam 2 is the BEST camera out there. I started with one, but saw yourself using as mobius and bought one of those as well. I've used the mobius, hmmm... twice! It just rattles around the bottom of my flight box as the RunCam beats it in every department. Daft question, how did you move around the settings in the FPV mode? Matt
Both have their good and bad points I think. Mobius is sharper and wider but doesn't do 60fps and has a rogue internal reflection spot. Runcam features are excellent but audio is much lower. Might investigate refocusing the Runcam. Moving around menu settings - Long Press Wifi x 3 to get to menu mode (orange LED). Press Stop/Start to step through menu items and press Wifi to select. Long press Wifi to back out.

Andrew Newton Howdy Andrew, if you use the runcam and the audio isn't good enough, try using audacity, drag & drop the video file into it, then from the effects menu select, leveller then ok, normalize then ok and then finally amplify and ok. That normally does the vast majority of the audio work. You can also set this up as an "action" from the file menu as well, so 3 clicks instead of loads. Matt
Andrew have you checked out the Mobius Fpv docking station? I'm running this on my Easystar, it a very nice compact setup. I push power button start, orange led on solid is video feed out no record, press front/camera button and orange led blinking is recording video to the std card. when i get home i simply plug in the supplied usb cable and open the file tab..... way easy.
I have one, it's been replaced once for lockups and randomly not reading/writing/detecting the sd card. Same symptoms on the new one. Hopefully I'm an anomaly.

I'm still testing the Runcam but for onboard and FPV I think it will be hard to beat.

Just did a big FPV test yesterday and nearly lost the plane, got so far out I couldn't find home. No problems with the camera, must fit the RTH again.
A Mobius 3 with gyro stabilisation would be the thing I can't resist...

Yes that's right. You would need to solder up an adapter to connect your battery to the servo style plug.

Just worked out you can remove the battery and power it from your VTx with no problems.

Talking while flying using the Mobius as a hatcam, I often peak out the audio, so this might just be right for my loud voice. Testing continues.
