i came here to research him, and this helped a lot! i can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers, your content is certainly within the same bracket as much larger creators
I hate to be a cynic but this video hardly mentions Diogenes and trails off on a self-help tangent that is completely anti-thethical to everything the Cynics stood for.
Having a family full of narcissist who are two faced are good promoters of Cynicism. Irony is they don't even realize it because their blind to actions, but open to others opinion.
Finally out! I've been waiting for this video to happen and here it is❤️been reading up on why and how the modern meaning of cynicism has shifted from the original philosophy. Thank you so much for this, I hope there's more of this soon🥺
THE BEAUTY OF THIS VIDEO IS ALL ABOUT THE LIFE IN GENERAL..VERY IMPRESSIVE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE INFORMATION 📚THANK YOU ♥️GOD BLESS US ALL 💮💮💮PEACE AND LOVE EVERYONE 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
If you stick to a pretty consistent uploading schedule & continue with this same quality of videos, your channel will grow far past where it’s at.I expected you to have around 200k subs,it’s crazy to me that you only have 700.Keep it up
Diogenes cared about what people thought of him. He wouldn’t be living in the streets if he did. He lived in the streets to manipulate people’s opinion of him. People seeing him live in the streets was the main reason for him living in the streets.
Usual misconception: the name of the group of philosophers called "cynic" comes from the word Kynosarges, which has been a nameplace in ancient Athens. Besides the school where the philosophers met, it had a gym that was the only one that could accept non-Athenians. Their initial name was "Antisthenic" from their founder Antisthenis.
I guess I'm like this man, I could care less what others think about me, other people's opinions of me mean nothing to me, anytime you are concerned with what others think of you, you are letting others define whom you are, a very ignorant concept to live by. It's wrong to call him dog when he lives naturally with nature as a human...the only real human in his eyes at the time was the one who could really live as nature intended. We consider him a dog because we as a collective think we are above nature even tho we all come from the same planet.
I find it somewhat cute, how so many of these philosophy (and psychology) TH-camrs are in reality talking to themselves, convincing themselves. It's interesting how so many of them quote Marcus Aurelius, himself a perfect example of a fraud. Always worried - and not Stoic at all - he wrote to himself, the meditations - copy-pasted of real Stoics - the TH-camr of his days.
Everyone be talking about philosophy. Yet you guys missed the biggest detail. Diogenes grew up and lived in a different era with different social norms. What worked then won't work now unless you are okay with being beat up and jailed for loitering amongst other things
Philosophy is a mindset. It can work until the end of time. Some people are at different levels of their journey and advice is not applicable to everyone. Nobody is going to see it exactly the same
His actions were immoral. And he was seeking virtue. He knew not the 1st thing of virtue. He was less then an animal. There are other true cynics that lived virtious
Sorry, as a cynic I should point out the subtle underlying agenda of this video which seems to be marrying cynicism and good ‘ol capitalism and personal development. It manifests itself in the second point. These are inherently contradictory.

"We live in a society"
-Diogenes
But we shouldn't
He was a very wise man :D
Now this is quality content

Thank you man!
Here is to you: I don't have a job, I quit my education in university, I live on welfare and feel great. Does it annoy you? Good. I don't care.
❤️
Thank you for making this video.
thank you for this it helps me alot
Happy to hear it helps
Never been so calm watching a video at 3% battery.
Quick note: Diogenes quite likely had written things, but it was stored in the library of Alexandria meaning it was all lost.
No wonder why i like this philosophy, because its so similar to my favorite tao and stoic.
I’d say that Cynicism is to Stoicism what Taoism is to Confucianism.
What's the outro music?
Keep it up 😇
Thanks!
I have a question. If you are Christian and paying for health insurance. Do you also pay to go to the back of the ride line at Disney World?
Thank you ThoughtGround for making great videos👌😇😇

Everyone acts out their own ideals to some degree. Take it how you may, he was being congruent to his word.
It's possible that was his motivation, but it's also possible his motivation came from his own principles.
Why don’t we agree you have no idea what Diogenes thought of living in the street ..?
Great video! +subscribed!
he is my personal hero
Excellent
How did hard work come into this video on cynicism
I resonate strongly with this and it makes me feel sane in this fast paced world!!!!
Could do with a little less stock footage, otherwise great content! keep it up dude
Thank you!
Funny I thought of Steve jobs and the keyboard popped up 4:20
Side note: do you have any thoughts on Buddhist philosophy?
Maybe I'll make a video about that some other time.

yes!!
If cynic is to dogs, then what are cats?
stoics i guess.

Everyone has advice on how to live life. I stick with the guys who are still being talked about 2000 years after their deaths.
Diogenes The 🐕 was da 💣💥!
Pretty sure you can't take your life by holding your breath. You pass out and involuntary breathing will continue.
I carried on breathing.
bad trap in this video: op is assuming Diogenes was happy, lol, source?
The end result of all actions is the heat death of the universe, so stop worrying so much.

🖕 are you telling me what to do?!
A Lao Tzu quote on a video of cynics, what madness is this?
So I’m a cynic that loves material great I’m corrupt.
The minute you fall out of love with material things, you will then start to truly live, until then the life you live will be nothing more than a lie.
Sorry, as a cynic I should point out the subtle underlying agenda of this video which seems to be marrying cynicism and good ‘ol capitalism and personal development. It manifests itself in the second point. These are inherently contradictory.
You tell him my dude..
Exactly!
It gets hypocritical by the minute
Why should I follow this....I,m a cynic after all
