He’d also take the piss out of people all the time.
He saw a hopeless archer practicing his shooting and stood next to the target, calling it ‘The safest place’.
He also saw a prostitutes child throwing rocks into the crowds and stated ‘Watch out son, you might hit your father’.

The stories of how much Diogenes messed around with Plato get even better when you consider that Plato may have been a wrestler before he became a Philosopher. That's supposedly how he got his name, "Platon", which means broad.
If that's true, it means Diogenes is regularly walking up to the buffest Philosopher in town and trolling him and it's an amazing image.

Another tale of Diogenes is when he was in a city (can't remember which) they received word of an army approaching. So the citizens ran around panicking. Diogenes being the smart arse he begins rolling a large vase up a hill and then let it roll down. He repeated this a number of times before the citizens stopped to ask what he is doing. He responded
along the lines of "helping as much as all of you at the moment". To which the citizens realised running around panicking wasn't doing much and evacuated.

Easily my favorite story about Diogenes is literally any story where he takes the piss out of Plato.
One story has it that Plato came across Diogenes while he was washing some vegetables in a river. Plato said to him "Diogenes, if you knew how to pay court to kings you wouldn't have to wash vegetables"
Diogenes responded "and if you knew how to wash vegetables you wouldn't have to pay court to kings"
Another story has it that Plato was discussing his Platonic forms with Diogenes, and pointed to a bowl on a table nearby. "You see that bowl? There is an essence of 'bowl' that all bowls partake in."
Diogenes answered "I do see the bowl, but I also see that it is empty. So where is the essence of emptiness that this empty bowl partakes in?"
Before Plato could answer, Diogenes tapped him on the side of the head, and said "there it is"

There's another Diogenes in Corinth story that I've always liked.
When Philip II of Macedon marched on Corinth the entire town flew into activity, some forging or repairing weapons and armour, some patching walls, some strengthening battlements, but no one gave Diogenes a job. So he gathered up his rags and began to energetically roll his barrel up and down the square. A passerby asked what he was doing, to which he replied, "I do not want to be thought the only idler in such a busy multitude; I am rolling my tub to be like the rest."

Fun fact: the word canine is derived from the latin canis, which in turn is derived from the greek word "κύων". The word cynic (greek: κυνικός), is also derived from the greek word for dog. So yeah, being a cynic pretty much meant you were ''like a dog'', which would mean that it wouldn't be much of a stretch to call Diogenes the first literal cynic to have ever lived.
